Floor stock for electrical products mean used demo stock?

    • No, stuff they have in stock

      • +2

OK, I should stock more gift cards :(

BTW should change the title to store stock instead.

    etc =

On sale Wednesday 23rd May 2012 or while stocks last on store stock only, no rainchecks. Personal purchases only and not available in conjunction with any other offer. Percentage off calculated against ticketed prices in store, some stores may have previously ticketed at a higher price and savings would be greater. Excludes advertised lines, gaming, accessories, Asko, Hoover, Miele, Neff, AEG, Falcon, warranties, services, finance, Apple, mobile phone, gift cards, prices labeled clearance items, sale, price attack, price drop and Manager’s specials.

    • +4

not applied on sale price….So 20% off RRP …
Their RRP is higher than normal!

      • exactly.

they overinflate their normal retail prices so when people "pay less for cash" thinking they are getting an awesome deal, they arent really.

this is still a good bargain to get a decent amount off so plus vote to OP, but it's not really a full 20% off when you consider how much you would pay elsewhere anyway.

    • +6

Thats a lot of exclusions …

      • +1

Going to be tricky to find something that isn't excluded.

    • DSE could learn a thing or to from these guys on how to have a sale but not have anything to sell.

    • +1

yep read that and said absoloutly useless….

      • -3

Your just paying above normal prices though, even after the 20%. No bargain I'm afraid.

Where does it mention TGG in the pdf? Apart from the thread title here

Positive vote from me, however it would have been better on a Thursday with extended trading hours.

  • I just got this text message from The Good Guys:

    "The Good Guys Osborne Park

Heavily Reduced VIP Pricing Across The Store!

  • -2

Anyone still wanna sell $1000 worth of giftcards at 85%? :D

  • wow look at those exclusions.. need an oven but doubt they will price match it and apply the offer. they have it marked "clearance" at $1500 but I find it for $1300 elsewhere..

  • I was planning on buying a linksys wireless router from them tomorrow, i hope that is included.

  • +1

Wonder if they are going to have good prices on DSLR cameras?

  • +2

    The idiots excluded EVERYTHING!

    • +4

Is there anything actually included in this sale ?

      • +2

Sure. Plenty of full RRP stock is included.

I don't understand how any store can think sales like this are a good idea. Customer comes in wanting to buy brand X. 'Sorry sir, it's already discounted. 0% for you'. 'Sorry, that brand isn't included in the sale'. Customer leaves while muttering what a waste of a trip it was.

        • +3

And thats why we return to the interwebs.

  • -1

    pay cash pay less

    • +1

Even if you pay cash u still end up paying more compare to other store :(

    • +1

Every time I have offered to pay cash in GG they usually discount something completely token like $1. It's a gimmick. What's more ridiculous is that end up having to pay credit card merchant fees well in excess of the measly discount they offer.

      • don't know which GG you go to, i got $15 off a $60 hair dryer, ipad 16gb for $490 (below Big W) and around $380 for a dyson listed elsewhere at $499. On top of that you just say you're paying cash and when you get to the counter pay with CC anyway :P

      • I've never even been offered a token $1 discount. My local store tells me that everything on sale already has the maximum discount (whether I pay with credit card or cash).

      • +1

Recently I went to a local TGG looking for a TV. It was $749 and I would have to take the demo TV as they didn't have any in stock. Okay I said, how much discount for it being a demo? Down to $740, and that was the CASH price. So they gave a 1.2% discount for it being a demo, which is less than the merchant credit card fees.

I left the store and bought it for $699 at JB Hifi, new in box, with a credit card (free extended warranty).

      • I've found them willing to haggle quite a lot. I can usually talk about 30-40% off the ticket price there and they'll agree to it. I only really buy small household appliances there, though.

  • +4

They will probably reject people using gift cards. Just kidding… not really.

  • I did notice their in store ticket price is significantly higher than their web price…
Might be worth calling before heading in store

    • The web price is the same as the "pay less, pay cash" price.

  • From the exclusions listed above:

"some stores may have previously ticketed at a higher price"

Does this mean what I think it does or am I missing something here?
They are giving themselves license to jack the prices before the sale?

    • It means that Branch x may have your favourite product for $2000 every day and Branch Y has it for $2500 every day. When it's on special for $1500 everywhere, it's 25% off at Branch X but actually 40% off at Branch Y (because Branch Y previously had a higher ticketed rpice).

      • +5

but here we are talking about % and not a set price for a product…

soo… at $2000 store you will save $400(%20)
and $2500 store you will save $500(%20)

yes its higher saving but you pay higher price!!!

  • wow… title gave me a high… and then the comments killed it.

will go give it a try tomorrow anyway

  • Percentage off calculated against ticketed prices in store. Excludes prices labeled clearance items, sale, price attack, price drop and Manager’s specials.

It's pretty clear that the percentage off is against the RRP. Why not just say this on the add.

  • $640 for a prime - LIKE

  • Just called Alexandria. Neither does Artarmon.
    Knew nothing of the promo.

    • Typical sales people who wants to earn more commission.

  • I'm a bit sceptical. This does not mention TGG anywhere on that flyer…if they knew nothing of the promo then I doubt they would honour it when you rock up with a generic looking flyer that anyone could have made…

Edit: Chatswood said it was only meant for QLD only but will honour the deal (I've heard they've turned away gift cards recently though). Artarmon said they would not. Please edit title of bargain.

I got the original text and I'm in vic. I can confirm it works in Ballarat

      • What does it say in the "from" field in the original text.

      • Maybe discount is only for Victorians. Discrimination…

        • Not Discrimination….Afirmative Action, cos they miss out on so much else, like sunshine <ducks>

    • if you zoom in on the bottom left you can see a tiny code with "TTG027973" which shows"TTG"

  • Just tried it at Gepps Cross, SA. I was told that it's a VIC promotion, but they gave me 20% off my ironing board anyway.

    • Was at mile end and they said they needed original text message to honor it so I walked out…suppose they didn't want my business!!

  • Hi - It didn't mention TGG any where in this link. Can some one plz confirm that if it has actually worked in store. Do we just need to show this page?

  • +1

Just called my local TGG (Highpoint,VIC). They said you have to show the sms.

Text the below to yourself. Make sure you delete your own number in your contacts so your name doesn't come up on the text

How do you change the from field when you send it to yourself?

Edit: I added myself in my contacts list with my name as the number above, lol.

        • If you wanted to get technical you could put a contact in your phone named +61 400 416 781 and set the number to your own. I doubt they check the from number though

  • Hey, does anyone know if they will price match and then reduce by 20%?

In which case it would be a total bargain if you've got some gift cards at the 20% discount. 40%+ discount all up. Time to buy my new fridge :)

    cheers
    dealsminder.com

    • I doubt it, they aren't that good :P

    • They will probably be in receivership soon so it won't be long till EVERYTHING is 40% off!!!

  • +3

TGG Tuggerah (NSW) knew nothing about the sale and wouldn't accept the flyer since it didnt mention TGG at all.

    • +2

this.. why isn't it quoted on the the good guys website?

      • +1

As mentioned earlier the only evidence that this is a GG deal is the TGG code number listed on the bottom left of the flyer page. There is no mention of this sale on there website or that this is a specific to one state or store only. So guess you have to get the sales staff to look up the promo code on the flyer to verify validity. If store knows nothing about this promo.

        • +1

i just went to one of their stores, they don't honor this promotion at all..

  • +2

Just got my new Garmin 2595LMT for $221.60.
20% off from sale, then another 20% off from using the gift cards i got from Aus Post!

    • Now, that's an ozbargain! well done!

  • +5

Please don't get too excited guys. These sales are always off ticketed price and that brings the price down to their usual "sale" prices. Most times, you will still be better off price matching it from elsewhere. You must do your own research on the lowest price you can find.

The discounted prices they are going to quote you will likely be the price you would get on any other day if you put some effort into researching plus negotiating. I guess what I am trying to say is don't go in there thinking they are giving you the best deal ever; and don't go out of your way to get to this silly "one day only" sale.

Eg: I went to this sale previously, got a quote for a Nespresso and was told ONE DAY ONLY, BEST PRICE! The price quoted to me was the same price my friend purchased it for a couple of weeks prior (no sale was on).

    • Exactly! TGG tried this stunt a few weeks ago…as it doesn't apply off advertised prices, I was struggling to find anything actually cheaper than normal…

      • +1

Agreed. TGG are full of shit, I don't even bother going there now.

  • I am looking for a 50" smart tv. Mentioned sms to sales person who didn't ask to see the text and he gave me $959 on the PS51E550. $1199 ticket (normal price) minus 20%
Big brown box $1089 (listing 1299 as retail), get price $1015.

  • +1

Ok..so I bought a vaccum cleaner @ $299/- which had an RRP of $349/- on last thursday.
Given that (if) this store has this sale would they honour their 7 day price beat guarantee?
Bugger that its on a wednesday not thursday!

Edit: 30 days not 7 day price guarantee.

  • Brisbane Mt Gravatt knows nothing of this deal…
    Is this deal even legit??

    • +1

      Sounds like VIC only.

      • About 8th or 9th post here mentions the user got a text frim osborne park(WA)

        • The text was from Ballarat, Vic actually.

        • bel13884 14 hours 38 min ago I just got this text message from The Good Guys:

"The Good Guys Osborne Park Stocktake Sale tmrw! Wed 23 May, 9.00am-5:30pm. Heavily Reduced VIP Pricing Across The Store! Reply STOP to OptOut or call 99335730"

Edit: My bad…doesn't say 20% off!! Just their VIP sale…bait!

        • That's an offer for "The Good Guys Osborne Park Stocktake Sale." Noting to do with 20% off.
I'm the OP, the original 20% off text was from Ballarat, Vic

      • +1

doesn't say that in the terms and conditions

    • -1

Sounds like stores are just palming customers off. They either don't know what's going on in their own franchise or are refusing to honour a legit deal because they are giving inconsistent responses.

This does not paint a very professional picture of TGG…

      • +1

        yep, happened to me..

  • More like a trap.

    • It's a trap!

      daaaa..daaaa..daaaa….dadada… dadada….

  • I would bite if this were QLD. Don't often see 20% off RRP of tumble dryers. And I need one. And I have gift cards too.

    • gift cards not accepted as per conditions printed below

Edit: nevermind, I read wrong. The purchase of gift cards is not 20% off.

  • .

  • I still have $300 in vouchers purchased from Auspost if anyone wants them at the $80 each they cost me? I purchased $1K and only used $700. I'm in Baulkham Hills, NSW for pick-up or will post at your cost (prefer pick-up and a pick-up sale with get preference).

    • Hey Syekotk

I live in Baulkham Hills as well and ready to take the gift cards but I need only $200 gift card if that's possible?

I will pay $160 to you in cash when I collect.

If you're happy, please let me know your address and a convenient time to collect?

      Cheers
