        • Not sure. I have only just reactivated my trial in time for Prime Day this year.

  • I have one and I attached it correctly to my new Sony a80j OLED. Curiously, the picture through the TV Amazon is better than the Firestick 4K through the TV's HDMI 4k channel. How can this be? Or is it just me?

    • Did you find any hints as to why that could be? Interested to know!

  • Well shit. Bought one a few weeks ago for my dad at $70.

    • Is it within the return period? Return it and buy again on Prime Day.

  • How's the 5ghz wifi performance on these? We have a 2015 Bravia Android TV but streaming services often struggle with anything over 720p.

    • It's pretty good for both 2.4 and 5g when considering the stick's wireless has it's line of sight shielded from the home router by the TV. Unless of course you have your router located behind the TV.

We get -55db on 5G from 6m with one gyprock internal wall and of course the TV.

      • Thanks for that!

  • what time does it start?

its starts now.. :)… great xmas gifts

      • thanks for replying so i get the notification. Got 2

    Can order now!

    • Yep deal is now live

    • Thanks! Got a pair!

Getting this for VLC. Plex is slow AF on my 5 year old Samsung.

  • I've ordered my two sticks and also used cash rewards

    • Cash rewards state it's ineligible for cashback if you enter ANY code in the promo field. Similar to Shopback. Maybe they will add this code to their approved list.

      • How often do they add amazon codes to their list, am wondering if i should wait or not.

  • As above thank you Op :)

Isn't Prime day tomorrow? It seems Amazon has made some deals available early.

    • Yep… its a post prime day sale :) woooo

      • Post or pre!

        • OH YEAH PRE

  • can you get more than 2 ?

    • order one 2 .. order another 2.. order another 2 :) works for me but i stopped at 1 order .. checked and it was letting me order another 2 for $69…. my order has shipped and its due to arrive tomorrow LOL

      • Just tried to order more than 2 and I am getting this:
We're sorry. This item has a limited purchase quantity. We have changed your purchase quantity to the maximum allowable.

  • Can anybody confirm if using Shopback will be approved? They mention auto-applied discounts are fine a long with Shopback listed promo codes but then says it's not valid
if you manually enter ANY code.

    • Well the discount was not automatically applied for me, so I'd guess no.

    • i used a code so its probably not going to work but i checked out with cash rewards anyways just to be in it with a chance

  • Thanks Op. I got 2. :)

  • I am getting following error message when I try to buy 2 with FTV69 code. Unsure why.

"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

      For amazon prime members only

      • I am a Prime member. Amazon customer service over the phone cannot figure it out at all. At the payment page items change their price to $99 each which is regular price and code FTV69 does not work for regular price item. Not sure why.

        • strange.. try using another web browser or try using your phone via cash rewards browser app :) may work

          • @vid_ghost: I have tried logging out of my account, restarted my computer several times, tried using a completely new browser window, Amazon mobile phone app.

I stayed on the phone with Amazon Customer Service for an hour, they could not fix it and/or find the reason for it. So I ended up placing an order for two at @98 and after delivery, Amazon Customer Service will call me to refund the price difference. Very strange how it kept on chaging the price on the payment page and not accepted the discount code FTV69, have not faced any situation like this before on their website and/or app.

@saty1296: You have to add two units ito your cart then enter the code to discount to $69

            • -1

@saty1296: yeah.. did you add two?

            • @saty1296: Getting the same issue. Two units added, tried through two browsers and Android Amazon app. Same error as you. Did you get any solution other than Amazon Customer Service offering to refund after the fact?

can we buy 2 and return one?

    • They will probably charge you the full price for the unit you keep.

    • +1

They will ask you to return both of them or sell you the one you keep at the "going rate at the time" .. If one is faulty they will send you a free replacement.

Your best option is to sell it NEW for $35 .. it will sell quick or give it to someone with a old that could use a smart tv upgrade as a gift for xmas

      • thanks will check out gumtree and Fb

  • anyone in Sydney wanna go halvsies?

    • Same but Brisbane?

    • Where about are you in Sydney?

    • already made a deal - thanks

  • +1

Anyone in Perth wanna go halvies?

  • Anyone in Adelaide want to go halves?

    • Yeah, if we are within a reasonable distance.

      • Can't seem to private message you

        • Strange, as I hadn't disabled it yet it it was off.

          Just messaged you.

  • May be dumb question,
Is this backward compatible, meaning 4k works with HD TV?

    • YES.. it will work with any TV that has a hdmi port

  • Think there will still be this deal at 4pm AEST tomorrow to make the most oh the cashback?

    • Does it work with codes?

      • add (2) two to cart and add code

      • Probably not :)… i know codes don't work with ebay.. guessing its the same with amazon

    • may not even work.. and may sell out

  • Looking to go halves with someone from Perth, please DM me!

    • just sent you a DM

  • Super quick delivery. Just had my 2 delivered!

  • Anyone have Kayo working on a Fire TV Stick? Last I checked there was no app, and no proper casting.

    • Yep you have to side load it. Really easy but might need to mod the apk to make the icon show.

      • Guessing it won't update itself? Think I'll just stick with chromecast.

        • Nope you need to install it again manually. It takes about 5 min tops to update it anyway (A little longer if it needs the icon fixed but that's only 5 min as well).
Easy enough for the few times you are forced to update. Plus you can download the apk and install it to your Fire TV all through your phone anyway.

  • Looking to split with someone from Melbourne, please DM!

    • DM'd

      • Ok turns out I'm too far, so hopefully someone else can help sd224

    • Dm'd

  • Can anyone confirm if this 2 for $69 deal will work with Cashrewards? - It will be live in an hour.

    • Ineligible if:
Use of any promotional codes entered manually in Amazon's 'Promotion Code' field. Do you need to enter the code?

  • Anyone in Adelaide and want to split?

  • Anyone in melb CBD or northern burbs Bundoora way wanna go halves. Already have them.

  • Anyone else in melb n/e suburbs (heideburg to hawthorn) want to go halves PM me. Please reply to post to indicate you've done so. Thanks.

    • Hey mate, PM'd.

  • Just ordered this. What do I need to extend the power cord of the Firestick? I don't think it will reach my power board. What does the Firestick use to connect to the AU adapter plug? Is it just a micro USB cable?

    • Yep, just a micro USB cable, so just use a longer one or extender.

    • Yes, it used a micro USB cable.

      • Alright, thanks. So if I just get a longer micro USB cable that will work fine with the AU adapter so I can make it reach the power board.

Did you have an example for an extender, opposablethumbs?

        • Just USB A male to female as long as it's rated for the power needed by the device.

          • @opposablethumbs: Ahh right, thanks.

I forgot to ask, the original Fire Stick cable, is it a micro USB male to USB A male? If so, I will just order a longer cable rather than an extender.

Edit : as for power rating, do cables normally list the rating of the power?

            • @Ice009: Yep micro USB male to USB A male.

Most won't list power rating, but faulty cables are usually what is troubleshot last. Likely fine if reputable seller.

  • Gah. I forgot this and remembered at 11.59 to place an order but it just became midnight in the cart. Arrrrrrghhh. Anyone in Sydney want to split please PM me! TIA
