  • Any idea what to do if IMEI is showing as invalid? It's a relatively new s21 from the Samsung aus store… Grr

    • +2

is it already in your trade in cart? you don't need the two numbers after the "/" if you're trying to type them in

  • +1

Did this today and grabbed the s22+ 256gb.

Traded in s20+ for $300, $500 discount, $600 jb gift cards (which were 10-15% off).

    Pretty happy with that!

For those wondering, you get $500 on top of any trade in that gives you a value of $10 or more. And that $500 has to be used on another Samsung phone.

    • where did you get the 15% off JB gift cards from?

      • +3

No sale on currently for 10%+, most recent was 10% at Woolies that ended Tuesday, 15% is rare (like once or twice a year).

        • How many can you put in, my work staff club offers 10% off but can only purchase 2 X 50 and 2x100

          • +2

            @Mkak: Unlimited for JB Hi-Fi.

            • @MiscOzB: I believe there's a limit of 10 online. Or at least that's what I was told when purchasing mine with 10% off swap GCs. I used 9 including the trade-in voucher.

              • +1

@Techie4066: It's unlimited according to the FAQ

JB H-Fi currently allows an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards to be redeemed in one online transaction.

      • +1

As @MiscOzB mentioned, was from a Coles deal 6 months ago or so. More regularly are the 10% deals at supermarkets.

  • Can someone help me with how to use the voucher and trade in credit? I'm so confused how do I apply the credit from my Trade in. My Z Flip 3 was assessed at $520, but how I get this? is this sent to my credit card after I send in my phone?

    • +3

once you go through the registration process on squareuptrade they will email you 2 things:

      1) Trade in voucher in a PDF with bar code
      2) An email which lets you select either the $500 or $250 jb hifi voucher for samsung phones. Take your pick and they will send another email with a barcode.

      Use both when buying online/instore.

      • Why would you pick a $250 voucher instead of a $500 one? 🤔

        • +2

The $250 voucher is for the S21 FE which is price cheaper so they won't give you as much credit to buy it.

      • cheers

  • Looks like you don't have to trade in a phone for this, you can trade in tablets for example and still qualify as far as I can tell.

  • on the site they have S22 trade in for $650

What happens if I buy the phone for $1049, trade it in for $650 and get the $500 voucher, do I get $1150 credit? Can I use the $1150 credit to rebuy the $1049 phone and get $101 cashback?

    • +1

Likely they will make you spend it all on a more expensive phone. It's actually a smart move to upgrade to the 256gb model for free.
EDIT: Although your out of pocket is still $1,049, way more than if you actually had an old phone to trade in. So it's one way to get a free 256gb upgrade if you are willing to pay the retail price of $1,049…

        from t and c's

If the cost of the new device is less than the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit eGift card amount, the remaining credit can be used towards other JB Hi-Fi purchases.

Your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit eGift card cannot be redeemed for cash.

  • 1049 - 350 (s21 trade in) - 500 = 199

Twist here is i bought s21 last year for 350, getting 100% refund towards s22. Not bad

  • And here I go, just received my new S10 that I bought for $315 as an upgrade for my S7.

    • wondering if $714 is worth it for the s22

    • is it really brand new S10 or refurbished?

  • Almost pulled the trigger on the A73 today, glad I didn't.
$399 after S10 trade in is awesome.

  • What are the chance of a samsung S20 FE being available for a similar deal comes next year for S23 trade in? Feels like my s20fe (with SD card) still have a year of life left, but don't wait it to reach $0 trade in value, and therefore no bonus, next year lol

    • +1

How much is it worth today via their website?

    • +1

Should still be able to considering S10 can still be traded in now…

  • +3

Squaretrade website must be getting flogged.

    • yep timing out for me too

  • Can they process a trade in store?

  • Website isn't responding :'(

  • I have an s10 with a small crack in the screen - any idea if Squaretrade are still accepting damaged phones?

    • Showing $0 with a cracked screen

    • yes they will - it asks for condition of phone and will adjust trade in value accordingly.

      • Finally loaded - $0.

Wonder if they take away the $500 as well if it shows up in the inspection.

  • My s10+ and note 10+ released in 2019 were worth around $190-$230 but the iPhone X released in 2017 was worth $200 lol. Seems like they value Apples more if you have something lying around.

  • +2

Got my first flagship on this deal - a S22 Ultra 256 for $1199. Trade-in value was only $6, but still received $500 bonus coupon, so minimum is not $10.

    • What gave you $6?

      • Galaxy A71 - TURN ON: YES TURNS ON / COSMETIC CONDITION: EXCESSIVE SCRATCHES / DEFECTS: VOLUME/PWR BUTTONS FAULTY

I've been trying for 30minutes, different lighting, correct information but it somehow doesnt match? "The data supplied does not match Aust. Government register."

        • I'm getting that too, what's funny is that it worked the first time.

I'm trying to trade in 2 phones

        • Happened to me. Turns out it was my address. Licence has U 5 instead of 5/ street number and address

        • Did you ever figure out a fix? I am getting this as well.

  • Still haven't received the code or any email. Submitted all details 20 minutes back.

    • +1

Mine was instant. Got an SMS and a few emails.

The $500 voucher is on an email which lists a few different offers and you have to select the $500 option, it then loads the same trade in page that refreshes to your voucher.

    • Submitted mine about an hour ago, but the checkout page timed out after I submitted…

No emails received yet, but my account shows the trade-in is processed (waiting for my device to be sent in) and I can access the gift card for device value.
Just no signs of the $500 coupon :(

    • have you got your $500 trade-in voucher yet? I haven't but got the trade-in gift card about an hour ago. Also haven't received shipping email either

      • Nothing at all for me

        • Mine went to spam.

          • @apsilon: Checked, nothing

            • @go2force: Mine arrived instantly so not sure what to tell you.

            • @go2force: i sent an email to support and they provided me with the $500 coupon code. Perhaps give that a try

  • This or the 128Gb ultra?

  • Is s22 dual sim

  • question, if my phone worth $10, i can still get the $500 voucher right? i have a cracked back and camera faulty huawei p30 pro.

    • +1

      Yes

      • thanks and what accessory should we include? not sure if i can find them. charger?usb cable?earphone?

        • +1

mobile phone only, found the answer.

  • tried entering in the IMEI multiple times - double and triple checked. says "bad IMEI". Is anyone else getting this issue?

    • +1

It's probably blocked for trade in, is your phone second hand?

      • +1

        or a grey import

    • You can only trade a phone in once, if you don't deliver, it is blocked for future trade in. I think they all use the same provider.

  • Thanks op, traded in my s21 plus I got from Samsung for 599, traded in for 400 plus 500 bonus. Paid 150 for s22

    • +1

Is it worth it? S21 plus has bigger battery and screen.

      • Worth it just for the snapdragon alone. I mainly wanted a smaller phone

  • I'm trying to scan my Australian passport in

It keeps putting my document number to the ID number, wtf?

  • Is it possible to stack 2x500 vouchers for the purchase of one phone?

    • Cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon

      likely not

considering this but my OnePlus isn't on the list of phones to trade, I have an old S6 Edge but that gives $0 trade in value :/

  • Thanks OP! Traded in my S21 5G 256GB from last year that cost me $434 from last years Trade Up deal. My S21 was valued at $420.

Got a S22 5G 256GB for $229 ($1149-$500-$420) and the tax invoice is stating $649 so I should be able to claim that back on tax too!

    • +1

Same here, but next year haha

The instructions for sending in our phone says that we can get packaging from Aupost. Does this packaging cost money or will they just give it to us if we ask?

    • I was also wondering if packaging is provided, and if shipping cost is covered. Also, would we have to take this inside the aus post office or can just drop off our phones to any red bin outside?

      • All covered

        • Is there a way to get a receipt from the post office when you give it in? Would prefer to have some evidence that I've sent in my parcel just in case

          • +1

@Ozbargain Lurker: Yes, they gave me a receipt after scanning the barcode when I went to collect the packing envelope. I might have had to ask for it though. In any case, it came in handy when Samsung started chasing me up early for my old handset.

        • surely packaging would be at our own cost?

  • +1

if only I had a phone to trade in :( Is it worth buying a used phone to trade in, and if so which one?

  • Awesome. Now what happens if I keep my old phone. Do i have to pay them the $350 + $500 or just the $350 trade in cost?

    • +1

      Just the trade in value.

  • Thanks OP! I have just traded my Note20 Ultra for S22 Ultra.

  • Can I purchase the new S22 online and collect it in person or do I have to be in store to do the trade? I won't be able to visit jbhifi by now unfortunately

    • +1

Yes to the former; seems it can only be done online anyway.

  • Thanks OP, trade in my S10 for $180 .. good deal!!

    • Wow my s10+ is only $160

      • 512 gb dual sim
