        • Nah, mine has $34 value.

          • @zappy32: ohk. may be too many attempts to get voucher.

    • Yeah damn I'm having the same issue….

  • +9

Now running into the error of 'Identity verification barcode not created so please try again OR use SMS option.' and not being able to verify ID when checking out the trade in.

    • Same here, it's cooked. Let me know if you figure a way around it. I have no idea what SMS option they're talking about.

    • Yep. After the verification not working multiple times, now it doesn't even show the barcode.

      • Ditto - can't get it to work :(

        • +2

So I just contacted them via the support form and told them I wanted to buy it tonight to take advantage of the lower price, and they just emailed me the $500 off code straight up. Good luck brothers.

  • There is a limit of 1 coupon per Trade-in order.

  • I am still sit on the fence on this. If i get the voucher do i have to use it and send my old device?

    • +1

The way I read it, having just done it, is that you are entering into a contract if you finalise it so yes, you'd have to send the phone. Of course if you don't from what I can see in the T&C they'll only charge the trade in value. There's no mention of charging the bonus credit. INAL and no guarantees of course.

  • Oh I have also discovered that on the same trade-in order, you can click each of the coupon options (eg $500 for S22, $250 off S21FE) etc and it'll give you more coupons.

  • So the $500 coupon can only be used towards the S22 or is it used like a jb voucher?

    • +1

      $500 off Samsung Galaxy S22, Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3

  • I got a trade in credit of $60 and the voucher if I do not send my phone would they charge me $60 or $560?

    • +2

      $60

      • intresting, but this seems too good to be true.

        • +2

It happened to previous samsung deals, so its not too good to be true

          • @Homr: We shall wait and see what happens because I dont feel like sending in my cracked Xs for $60.

    • +2

I read the T&C, it mentions only the trade in value so if they were to charge more you could dispute it.

  • Just redeemed :)

Traded in my trusty old Iphone X for $200 and got the $500 voucher on top. In the end, got the 256GB S22 5G for $449.

  • $100 trade in for perfect condition P30 Pro.

No thanks JB. I don't think the s22 would be much of an upgrade if at all.

    • +1

$10 for my wife's cracked back and camera faulty p30 pro. i think you should consider it as 100+500,

  • +2

It asks me to verify my id on the chout page of the trade in site.. But you need to scan a qr code to verify identity and it won't load one.. I have no idea how to proceed

    • Same problem here

    • i am going to try it in store tomorrow. should save a lot of this kind of hassle

      • +2

They are only price matching for one day due to Telstra sale - not sure prices will stick around tomorrow

        • oh didn't realise that. thanks for pointing that. anyway, not a samsung fan at all. if the price going up, i may just ignore.it. willing to buy one only because it looks like a bargain.

  • I keep getting the "Identity verification barcode not created so please try again OR use SMS option." error but no SMS option is present. I have tried on multiple devices and have even tried my device with a trade-in value of $200 but it still isn't working. Has anyone come across a fix or has JB just stopped all trade-ins because the Ozbargainer's have found an exploit?

  • +21

I was getting the QR code not loading issue, so I opened up dev tools and found a ridiculous workaround (completely skipping the ID verification)

    • Right click inspect the Customer box below the verification, delete the word collapsed on this element
    • Right click inspect all the disabled inputs that show up afterwards, delete read-only (I think its this, or disabled)
    • Fill in details and it just works.

Edit: I lost access after this so couldn't get 100% perfect instructions for this, but it worked. Got my S22!

    • how do you open dev tools?

      • Right-click on the page anywhere and select 'inspect element', or you can try pressing F12 key.

        • Thanks, how do I do the 2nd bit?

    • can you pls elaborate on the second step. what are the disabled inputs?

      • The first and last name fields that appear, right click the boxes that are greyed out!

    • Mate this worked like a charm, what a crack! Legend OP

      • can you please eli5

    • How do you add your customer name?

    • +24
      • Right click the '2. Customer' box and select 'Inspect'

      • On this line that should be highlighted in the 'code', make it look like this: <button class="btn btn-link" type="button" data-toggle="" data-target="#shipping" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="shipping">

      • A couple lines down in the 'code' there should be a line that looks like this (it might be grayed out): <div id="shipping" class="collapse" aria-labelledby="shippingOption" data-parent="#checkout">

      • Edit this line to make it look like this: <div id="shipping" aria-labelledby="shippingOption" data-parent="#checkout">

Effectively this should expand the Customer box and you can continue. Typing this out you probably don't need to do the second point. Worked like a charm for me.

      • wow that worked, how did you figure that out???

      • +6

        Don't forget:
        <input type="text" name="first_name" id="first_name" class="form-control" value="YOUR FIRST NAME">
        <input type="text" name="last_name" id="last_name" class="form-control" value="YOUR SURNAME">

        • possible to delete read only fields and manually type as GeneralKey described

        • i get stuck on this one, where do we add this in and do where edit html? still greyed out

      • managed to fill in. still don't know how to get the barcode

      • +1

I've followed all the steps but pressing the next button and nothing happens, under the '2.Customer' section

      • +1

There's an additional step to this, which is to locate the button fields for first name and last name and remove the words "readonly".

Once you've done that, you can enter your first name and last name and proceed with the trade-up order.

        • done that but clicking the next button does nothing

      • You da real MVP

      • +1

Think this stopped working, after i do all that the next button doesn't work.

    • Works like a charm. Legend. Thanks

    • Damn I can't believe that worked. Feel like I need a shower because that was a dirty trick. Nice tip, thanks man!

    • +1

Thanks. Worked for me. Sketchy AF though haha.

    • +1

      Bloody legend. Worked as described.

To clarify point 2, there is code that has value = readonly. Delete the word read only, then proceed to manually input text as described

    • Absolutely genius find!

    • +2

I would like to award you the best OzB hack of the month!

    • +2

Is this still working? I've followed all the steps but pressing the next button and nothing happens

      • Same for me

        • Think this has been patched, can't get it working either.

          • @ClintonL: damn, I wonder how they found out

            • @Homr: No it's still working for me 10 mins ago. I couldn't click next before and refresh the site then make sure to follow Generalkeys to expand the Customer section, remove the word readonly only on the firstname and lastname and it worked.

Oops.. I tried to open the site now and it's giving me: OPEN HOURS
              We are open between
              Monday - Sunday
              7:00am - 11:00pm ADST

    • Getting emails from squaretrade saying my data was inconsistent and my account suspended…

    • thanks mate
I also had to remove "collapse" from class names. Once I entered my details, the payment details didn't un-collapse and I had to open them manually too :)

Can i trade in for a gift card? I alr have an s22

    • Trade your s22 for a brand new s22 and get a bonus $50 gift card.

      • That's an idea, i m juat wondering if the trade in credit can act as a giftcard since no expiry date according to tnc.

  • +1

    It's done, not working anymore

  • Xiaomi is not accepted for trade-in?

    • unfortunately not :(

  • how quickly can you pick up the S22 by going through this process?

    • +1

picked mines up within the hour

  • Had this finished already? Ended?

  • Pixel 3a: TURN ON: YES TURNS ON / CAPACITY: 64 GB /

COSMETIC CONDITION: LIGHT TO MODERATE SCRATCHES, CRACKED FRONT SCREEN, CRACKED BACK

    DEFECTS: NO DEFECTS

I have a Pixel 3A with the above and it says $50 trade-in value, how much does the phone go currently in marketplace/gumtree?

    • Not sure about the 3A but the 3 goes for 150-250 - if no faults. cracked ones may be $50?

  • Managed to get the trade in done… but now they haven't emailed me anything for the past 10 mins… grr

  • +5

There's a small loophole… The s22 has a trade in value of $600, so if you trade in the s22 for another s22, you'll get a free $50 jb hifi giftcard.

    • Man this is so funny. So buy a new s22 and try it ?

  • Worth trading in my Pixel 4a (4G)? Will get $100 for it

  • Just bought the s22 ultra 5G 256gb for $699 (1699 - 500 - 500). My old phone was the S21 Ultra 5G 128Gb (which was in perfect condition).
Just wondering, if we were to not return the phone back, would we be deducted 500 or 1000 from the credit card?

Kind of tempting to keep the phone and resell on market place if they're only gonna charge 500 - in true ozbargain spirit

    • From reading all the comment , they will just deduct the trade in value of the phone amd not the $500

  • +6

SquareTradeUp gonna wake up tomorrow finding vouchers sent out for $0 devices and customers traded in without ID verified. hahaha

    • +2

Just checked their T&C… They cant charge for the bonus voucher :D

    • To make it worse they need to get rid of those $0 rubbish after receiving them. People are much more likely to actually send them over.

      • -1

Definitely sending mine haha. Nokia 2.2 is garbage. My old iphone 6 is dying. Both $0. Great for recycling :)

        • +2

How did you trade up $0 phone and still get $500?

          • @MKBHD: They removed it now

            • @Koipanda: Just saw that. The online store has ceased trading and closed for today :P

              • @MKBHD: Oh damn, they got ozbargained haha

                • +2

@Koipanda: The next sprint for the web developers is gonna be tough haha

  • So Am I supposed to get 2 different coupon code. 1 for the $500 credit and the other for the value of the phone?
Cos I'm only getting the $500 coupon so far.

    • +1

you should get 3 emails from squaretradeup:
      Your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit
JB Trade-In Confirmation email + (AusPost Shipping Label & Packing Slip)
Your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Coupon Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

the TradeIn credit is a gift card attached to the first email

  • Anyone know what the normal JB Hifi prices are for the S22 ultra?

  • I cant verify my identity?
    How do we do this?
It says to scan a QR code but there is no QR code

    • scroll up to the beginning of page 4 to view a handy HTML hack.

What do people think would be a realistic price for S22 128GB 5G to sell brand new in box? $750?

    • +3

This is OzBargain and not a site to make small profits through good deals and only buy if you really need the S22

      • This deal requires a trade-in that gets little money so hardly going to get a profit at $750. I was wondering if it was worth getting as insurance in case my Pixel that's being replaced isn't back by when I head overseas Tuesday.

  • Ordered. Thanks OP. I see it doesn't come with a charger. Have some at home but not offical and I think they destroyed the connection and battery on my S9. Any recommendations on good chargers?

    • I usually go with either Anker or Belkin

      • +1

        Will check out.. thanks..
