Spend your earned Woolworths dollars ASAP if you take advantage of this.

There are significant amounts of fraud in the EDR system.

    • +2

other alternative to automatic convert to QF points so keep it less than 2K EDR points at all time

    • Can you stack all the $10 offs in a single transaction or does it only do $10 off per transaction?

      • Can redeem it all at once.

Not sure whether you get the option to redeem say $20 if you have $30 but spend $23.

        • It only redeems to the nearest $10 rounded down.

    • +3

You can switch your account to "Bank for Christmas" mode so your dollars are safe until you do a big shop.

    • +1

Fraudster used up all my Woolies dollars a few days after I got the bonus points. I have a feeling it’s an insider job and the employees exploiting the system!

      • thats scary.. atleast flybuys makes sure you use a PIN when redeeming the points

        • Only for flyby dollars, not with the auto $10 off at coles

          • @M00Cow: Is this a real thing? My mother always said it used to be an automatic thing at the coles checkout but I have never seen this before? An opt-in option or something?

            • +1

@RustyShackleford53: Yep, i think you need to call them up & swap across. My other half has that automatically at Coles (well it's offered), where as mine accumulates and I have to manually xfer it across, swipe a physical card & enter a pin.

              • +1

@M00Cow: I thought it was only if you had a Cole’s credit card linked to the flybuys

            • +2

@RustyShackleford53: If you've ever had a Coles Financial Product linked to your Flybuys account, you get the option of redeeming 2000 flybuys points for $10 off at checkout when scanning your flybuys barcode.

$10 off your Coles Supermarket shop^
Instantly take $10 off your Coles Supermarket shop, every time you redeem 2,000 Flybuys points in-store at the checkout.

I still have the option which I think was from the reloadable Mastercard from years ago - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/302205

      • +2

Same thing happened to me, bought a ton of gift cards and the next day points gone. Woolworths quickly refunded them to me so no complaints in the end although agree feels like an inside job or their systems are massively compromised.

        • How did the fraudster get your points?

          • @Omarko: You can check balances and redeem points with just the everyday rewards barcode/member number.

I suspect there's a API somewhere that the kiosks use to display your points balance.

        • The timing sounds very suss.

    • Thanks for the warning. Just checked my account and someone in NSW (im in VIC) used $30 which was all of mine! On the phone now to see what Woolies will do. Not happy.

      • Ha ha opposite of that happened to me, I’m in NSW and someone from Vic used mine.

        • The Woolies customer service where great. Gave me a new card number and reaccredited the points.

The guy I was dealing with said it happens all the time and they think it’s just an RNG thing where they swipe fake cards.

I agree that it should ask for a pin or some sort of authorisation before using the rewards.

    • What if you have it set to "saving for Christmas" and only change when you want to use the $$?

      • +1

That is "safe" because you can't change the setting without your password and 2FA.

      • Can you actually change it back or do these dollars stay locked until Christmas?

        • +2

You can switch between Money Off Shopping and Bank For Christmas at any time you want.

If you switch from Bank For Christmas to Money Off Shopping, all your Everyday Rewards Dollars will become immediately available for redemption.

If you're in-store when you make the switch, make sure to make the switch before you start a transaction and scan your Everyday Rewards card. One time, I switched my redemption option from Bank For Christmas to Money Off Shopping after I started a transaction and scanned my Everyday Rewards card, but the checkout was unable to redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars. I had to get the transaction suspended and move to a different checkout before I could redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars.

          • @WookieMonster: I read from another (older) thread that it took 2 hours to switch from Bank For Christmas to Money Off Shopping. When did this change?

            • @phamaroo: I have no idea that apparently used to be the case.

To be fair, I only started using Bank For Christmas this year…

  • So you can only 'bank' $5000 worth of these gift cards in your Apple account.

  • How often do the coles/flybuys do this offer anyone know?

  • Bloody muppet of a company..

Apple ID has been locked because i can't answer my security question. My password works, i have access to my email.

I can reset my security question, but im order to do so, i need to very my identity by answering my security questions to reset them.

Never mind the fact they can confirm my acc with email and password but i dont have a "recovery" email.

Have $80 of credit in my acc but cant access it 🤯

    • Have you tried contacting Apple's phone support line? They might be able to clear it up for you.

      • Have a few times and its tye same response.. we ca t do anything because you dont have a email registered as recovery but the acc has an email attached to it, its just not ✌️ recovery email ✌️🙈 😐

Time to buy some for iPhone 14

    • will it have a better deal before the release?

  • Has anyone tryed to purchase $5000 apple gift card ($500*10 cards) for one rewards account?

I decide to load some for the coming iPhone 14.

    • +1

During the very first Apple gift card deal at Woolworths, someone purchased $36,000 worth of Apple gift cards. They had so many Everyday Rewards Dollars that they were able to purchase some Apple gift cards using Everyday Rewards Dollars.

(AFAIK, Everyday Rewards have now changed their system so you can no longer force a checkout to forcibly redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars to cover the cost of any gift cards you are purchasing if you have too many Everyday Rewards Dollars on your account.)

      • As long as the points can be credited to the account it should be fine. Just trying to stock up for the next release in Sept.

        • +1

You should have the bonus points credited to you as soon as you finalise the transaction. When you’re at a self-serve checkout:

          • When you go to the payment screen, there should be a points counter towards the top right-hand corner that shows the total number of points you have earned during the transaction. However, I note that some Woolworths locations around Australia do not show this.

          • Additionally, when you go to the payment screen, if the points you earn from the transaction will take you over account balance over 2000 points, you will see a message pop up saying “Congrats, you have earned $xx off your next shop” (or something similar if you choose to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for Qantas points).

If you want to get $5,000 in Apple gift cards though, you’ll need to do this across multiple transactions over multiple days. I have never heard of a Woolworths store manager or duty manager approve any gift card purchases above $2,500 in one transaction, and I wonder whether they are even allowed to approve that much in one go…

Btw, if you want to start purchasing Apple gift cards and get bonus Everyday Rewards points before this Woolworths deal starts, you can go to a BIG W store and purchase Apple gift cards there (although that deal specifies a maximum of ten gift cards per Everyday Rewards account).

  • How much do I need to buy iPhone 14 pro?

    • Depends what Tim Apple sets as the prices. Rumour is prices are increasing.

    • I would get $2500 worth just to be safe.

Dont forget to use Hiver 5% and Student Rewards 4% (or if you have it - Woolworths Mobile 4-5%) for an additional 9-10% discount on your gift cards. Money for free.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/698763 <- Hiver 5% off at these other retailers
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/56375 <- Student edge
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/mobile.woolworths.com.au <- Woolworths mobile

    • Sorry i dont get it. I have woolworths mobile, how do i use it to get extra off? I thought i cant buy apple gift cards using woolies gift cards

      • You can’t. The eftpos machine at the register won’t allow a woolies gift card as payment for an Apple Card.

      • If you register for student rewards (no validation you are a student) you can but Woollies gift cards at a 4% discount. If you pay for that transaction using Hiver (no validation you meet their requirements) you get 5% cash back on the amount spent.
Small savings but money better off in your pocket than theirs.

But I think the posters are right, you cant use the Woollies gift cards to purchase apple… but you can use the above for your normal Woolies shop or buying Dan Murphy or Big W gift cards… discounts vary

The Woollies mobile discount only becomes available 45 days after you become active with them and appears in the Reward app if you have linked added your rewards number to your mobile account. But it is the same as the Student Edge discount for gift cards… with the added benefit of 10% off 1 shop a month.

  • I wonder what will happen if I buy a MacBook from the education store using these gift cards and Apple decides to cancel the order. Will the gift cards be automatically replenished?

    • +1

Add them to your Apple ID first, lot easier.

    • Bought my Mac studio on education store, paid with multiple $500 ones. Didn't have any issue. Btw I don't qualify for education. I don't think apple really care

      • Interesting, did you pick it up in-store or did you get it shipped to you? If the latter do you know what courier they use? I was thinking of getting it sent to parcel locker if it is Auspost

        • +1

          Delivered and mine was startrack

    • No your Apple ID just retains the credit. I used $4000 worth a few months ago of apple cards online and then did a return as I decided I wanted a MacBook Pro with more memory. This was before the original order was delivered. I cancelled the order and then my Apple ID had the $4000 credit. You with get it returned to the gift cards.

      • Do you still get a tax invoice when buying with the gift card credits?

  • Can Apple ID balance be used in the education store?

    • +1

Yes, it can be used on the online Apple Education Store and the various Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores.

However, if you go to a physical Apple store and ask for education pricing, you will not be able to redeem your Apple Account Associated Balance in a physical store (not yet, anyway).

      • +1

        Thank you!

  • Does anyone know if you can restart an Apple subscription to Netflix once stopped? I see the option to do so but want to check if anyone has had issues before I buy and load my account with Apple gift cards.

  • Can you purchase apple care with these cards?

    • +1

Yes because Apple Care is a subscription now.

  • If I bought these using my Woolies Everyday Pay balance (Bought via RACT autoclub for a 4% discount) then I'd effectively be getting a 14% discount?

    • +2

You cannot use Everyday Pay to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths or BIG W under any circumstances, because that is how Everyday Rewards set up Everyday Pay. Even if you only have a credit card attached to Everyday Pay, there is still no way you can use it to purchase any gift cards.

If you attempt to pay for any gift cards at Woolworths using Everyday Pay, you will get an Items Not Allowed error and you’ll be kicked back to the regular self-serve checkout payment screen.

It used to be possible to do this during the trial phase for Everyday Pay, but that stopped before Everyday Pay exited the trial phase.

      • +1

        Awwwww. Bugger.

Thanks for letting me know. ☺️👍

  • Can Apple Giftcard be used for battery replacement at Genius bar?

  • So in theory I can go in and buy 7-8x$500 cards for my Macbook Pro purchase? Sweet.

I assume gift cards work on the refurb store?

  • Anyone know if you can use the monthly 10% off for being on Woolies mobile when buying Apple gift cards?

EDIT: found it in the terms - gift cards excluded.

  • Bought some today. What’s the best way to store these credits so I don’t get scammed? Looking to buy iPhone in sept.

    • Add the credit to your AppleID.

When you preorder the iPhone be careful to actually apply your credit to the order, it can be easy to skip.

  • Anyone know if the one transaction per day limit actually applies. Woolies would only let me do $1k max in a single transaction.

    • +2

The limit did not apply in a different gift card deal earlier this year. I was able to purchase EFTPOS gift cards at two different Woolworths supermarkets on the same afternoon and received the bonus points. I have no idea whether Everyday Rewards have changed things since then (and there is a possibility they have).

You can verify that you will receive points in the transaction if you scan an Apple gift card at a self checkout and go to the payment screen:

      • Most (but not all) Woolworths stores will display a points counter at the top right-hand side of the self checkout screen. The counter will update to show the total number of points you will earn in the transaction as soon as you go onto the payment screen.

      • If the number of points you will earn in the transaction will take your points balance over 2,000, you will have a message pop up on the self checkout screen as soon as you press Pay Now. The message should say Congrats, you have earned $xx off a future shop or something along those lines.

FYI you are not obliged to purchase the Apple gift card at this stage. You can ask the staff to void the transaction if you find that you are not going to be awarded any points for the transaction.

Alternatively, if you have a BIG W store near you, they are also running a very similar deal in their stores that ends today.

      • +1

Thank you, confirming that I was able to go to another Woolies store today and make a second transaction and received the bonus points.

    • I bought $1500, the lady had to take down my address.

  • does anyone know when x30 deal going to be back? ever?

    • I'm assuming the 30x was an introductory offer, when they first transitioned from iTunes Gift Cards to Apple Gift Card.

Don't think we'll see it again.

    • Been waiting for 30x for more than a year now, it’s gone forever seems

  • You can only buy the gc in store?

    • Correct as per T&Cs

in Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Metro

  • How is stock for these gift cards? Are they available everywhere in big values? Do you need to ask for them?

    • Haven't seen any stock issues now that 20x is a typical deal in regular rotation between Coles & WW & BigW.

  • I find it disconcerting that the checkout registered my rewards card, but the paper receipts don’t give any indication of rewards card being registered?

    • That's a known issue (or at least it's known to me).

It happened to a relative of mine once at BIG W when I went shopping with them. They scanned their Everyday Rewards card and the checkout said it accepted it, but as soon as the transaction was finalised and receipt was printed, the Everyday Rewards card was removed.

When my relative contacted Everyday Rewards from claim the missing points (and I helped them do that), the Everyday Rewards team member was convinced my relative was lying about scanning the Everyday Rewards and then the checkout magically removing it. "There is no evidence that you ever scanned your Everyday Rewards card, so you obviously you never scanned it. Next time, add your Everyday Rewards card to your smartphone and actually remember to scan it before you finish your transaction." My relative still got the missing points manually credited, but it looks like Everyday Rewards (at that stage) did not actually acknowledge this as an issue.

You will need to raise a missing points claim and explain why you have to do it (i.e. the checkout randomly removed the Everyday Rewards card).

      • +1

Thanks, I might try in store first if that works. Fortunately I was suspicious and screenshotted the checkout screen that shows the points, although they did not then end up on my paper receipt.

        • Based on my prior experiences at Woolworths, Woolworths staff have no way of retroactively adding Everyday Rewards points to your account and will tell you to contact Everyday Rewards to sort it out. I have heard of one or two cases where a store manager unilaterally compensated a customer as an apology, but my bet is that you'll be told to contact Everyday Rewards. Who knows though!

This is different to Coles, where if you forget to scan your Flybuys card (or a staff member manually removed it without telling you), you can take the receipt and the Flybuys card to the service desk of the store of the original purchase and have the Flybuys points retroactively added to your account.

  • Thanks OP, was looking at getting an ipad and this deal came just in time to save 10%, worked easy at checkout

  • Went to Woolworths store 2 hours ago, I asked the check out girl at the service desk to double check as if this promotion is still on, after checking on the computer she said there is nothing on the system. But she was very nice and helpful then she called the store manager on speakerphone to find out why isn’t on the system. Walked out of the store empty handed in the end

FYI to everyone that this STACKS with the 5x points promo running this weekend.

I got 25x points on my $2000 of gift cards.

Very lucky timing because its essentially an extra 2.5% cashback via points

    • 24x

      • actually, yeah its 24x.

        • help a brother out - why 24x?
so e.g. spend $100 on Apple GC, get 2400 pts = $12 Woolworth dollars?

    • Weird - it didn’t stack for me. Only got 10k points for $500 gift card purchase.

      • Not $50 spend in one shop offer but save for Xmas one.

    • It also didn't work for me.

      • Not $50 spend in one shop offer but save for Xmas one.

        • +1

          Do you have more details?

    • Can I confirm if this refers to 'https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718887'? It is quite confusing as the terms stated 'No points will be collected on smoking products, gift cards (including Woolworths WISH Gift Cards, e-gift cards and iTunes)'.

      • +1

20x points definitely apply to these Apple Gift Cards purchased at WW up to today - and it’s clearly stated in their current catalogue that is the case

  • Do staff discounts apply to gift cards at all? For extra discount.
