Got one on a previous sale - not as good as this one. BARGAIN! What's more, my youngest loves this thing at night, so chilled.

  • What are they worth normally?

    • +1

$70 according to the previous deal

    • 33.99 was the next best price I could find on eBay, that's about as normally as I could reply.

  • +20

I bought the Phillips version for my son.. its a novelty. He used it twice and never again.

Its cheap but youll be wasting your money.

    • +3

My daughter has hers on every night. It's her night light

    • +75

In a few years my son will probably come up to me with red eyes and ask me where that trippy light thingy is.

  • +2

Anyone know if this has Home Assistant integration support?

    • No unfortunately, just an app that can control it through Bluetooth.

    • +3

i think we might be better off with the Mirabello Genio option from Kmart, it's $69 though - https://www.kmart.com.au/product/mirabella-genio-wi-fi-nebul…

Pretty sure they run off Tuya.

Got the Mirabella Genio Galaxy light for my little ones bedroom, used as a nightlight every night for the last few months. She loves it and is easy enough to play with.

Works with Google Home, timers, etc.

I'm a beginner with this stuff and zero issues so far.

      • +2

I have 2 of the Genio ones and the blue star version of the blisslights.

the genio is a much better model although between the two genios there is a bit of variance to the stars function - mostly related to focus of the lens. one is quite sharp with piercing, bright stars while the other is a little blurry/fuzzier.

in comparison with the bliss lights, the nebula function is a little washed out colour-wise but has more definition to the nebula pattern.

I use the Genios at home full time as they are annoying to pair/unpair with your network and the control is limited to wifi only if you want the full range of control, and I use the Blisslights lamp as a portable one that I take to band rehearsal, camping, house parties. helps that it is USB-C (genio is barrel connector, but only needs 5V1A so can get a USB converter for them.

        TLDR:
for home, get a genio (which is the same as the galaxylamps.com lamps without the international shipping)

for something more easily portable/ simple on-device controls (for kids), get the blisslights.

Just set it as you wish then turn on and off via a wall attached smart switch

  • Is this Green Stars version not Blue star?

    • +4

Clearly says "This version has GREEN stars."

      • +1

        Opps I don't like GREENS

    • +2

The blue star version is in the mirabella website and says is available through bunnings but none of the bunnings seems to have an idea of what it is or how to get them .Saying that i did buy them from bunnings Northland in Vic last year but cant remember how or who i chased to get the stock level. It was a good Christmas present for few kids .Also the blue star version has microphone and has the option to change light based on the music in the room.Same price as the kmart one if i remember correctly.

      • I have both mirabella nebula projectors
        - white one has green stars from kmart
        - black one has blue stars from bunnings

White one is more user friendly
Black one has sound activation good for music

        White 10/10
        Black 8/10

        • +1

Can you please elaborate on "more user friendly"?

          Cheers

          • +1

@John Kimble: Sorry for the lateness - when using the mirabella genio app the layout is similar to other mirabella RGB devices eg bulbs with a colour wheel to change colours and a couple switches to turn on and off stars control motor speed and dimmer etc very simple to use my 4year old can use with no trouble.

The other has more advance controls where you have 3 adjustable switches to control the R, the G, and the B independently plus adjusting motor controls for speeds etc and thats probably just half of the functions. My 10year old can use with no trouble but 4year old would struggle.

            👍

      • I found the bunnings code - 0269483 and the link is https://www.bunnings.com.au/mirabella-genio-nebula-blue-star… but stock seems to be nil in Vic

  • +4

I have no idea why i bought but I bought cuz what the hek

  • +4

Got this during prime day for $23.3 and it has been working well so far. Let's see how long it will last.

  • +3

dont need it but ill buy it - THX

    • +1

LOUD SYNTHESIZED CRESCENDO - Dolby THX entered the chat

  • did the person who left the 1 star review on Amazon just not know how to use it properly?

    • +1

It reads to me like they might have had the USB stick one?
I thought the same as you.
"BlissLights Starport USB Projector" since their photo clearly shows just RGB

  • +1

    What the heck. Ordered one.

  • +2

Had this for awhile. Use it nightly in the kids room. They love it. I paid way more than this for it.

    • +1

Will this be suitable as a night light meaning how much the brightness can be dialled down to? To almost nothing and just with a smidgen of light filtering through would be much desirable.

      • Based on what you are saying, I'd say this probably isn't for you. You can dial it right back but ultimately it fills your entire ceiling - if I was looking for a night light I'd probably instead get a more traditional night light…I also have things like this that I think are great…

        https://is.gd/nightlight3

Don't mean this model precisely. Actually got mine from Bunnings years ago. Couldn't see it now on their website but it shoots multiple colours right up the wall , great if you have something like a bedside table in front of it. A button you press to 'freeze' the colour combo precisely where you want it. Ridiculous wattage. Like 0.5W. have many about the house and really don't need to touch a light when just walking around the house generally in the the evening, middle of night or super early mornings. They switch off when sun rises.

        • +1

Thanks for the reply. I got one of those nightlight which I use in the bathroom which is really handy for night activities in there. It turns on and off automatically at dusk and dawn. It also functioned as a sensor (which was a great feature) light but then it stopped doing that after few years.

I now use a desktop clock which double as a nightlight but then it is still too bright even at its lowest setting. I just simply put a hanky over it too cut some of the light.

Anywayz, ordered the Sky Lite and will probably just use it in my computer room (when gaming) or in the music room (for some music trippin') and also maybe in the movie room (to get into the mood when watching (Alien, Event Horizon, Sunshine, et al).

          • @pacificstorm: Yeah given you have a few options, congrats. Good buy. My mindset is stuck on the $70 odd I paid for mine, but at this price it's a steal - you'll have no regrets..it's in the price ballpark of those tiny cheap Multicolor wall ones at Bunnings anyway. Enjoy it. :)

          • +1

@pacificstorm: Put a hanky over it.

            You sound like my wife.

  • Was this the one with the app that requires way too much personal information and phone persmissions to use?

    • Edit - Actually ours is not the app enabled one so that would be why. No idea about the app sorry

  • Ah, Deal is only for GREEN stars, not others

  • Thanks Op got one, hope little one likes it

  • Can't wait to tell my significant other that we can now dine under the stars, how romantic!

My son's one of these lasted about a year before the rotating part started making a grinding noise, was a great night light until then but with no way to make movement stop it had to go to the bin

  • +9

Don't know why I clicked through from the OB front page.
Don't know why I clicked through to Amazon.
Don't know why I'm hovering over the buy button.

  • +1

Too much Amazon credit from CR promotions so need to spend on something :)

Brought one, will be good night light for my 10 YO daughter!

    • +4

Where did you bring it to?

  • Just grabbed one. See how it goes.

  • Cancelled the order after realising green stars. Probably still nice but wife wouldn't approve most likely.

    • +1

What's the big difference? Different colour of course. Just can't understand why blue is more than double the price? Softer on eyes I assume.

    • +3

But the green stars is an additional feature, not the sole feature.

  • Thanks OP, Grabbed one for the kids.

  • Is it possible just turn it on as white light as a TV backlight?

    • the nebula is three colours (RGB) but the way the lens works means you arent getting 'white' light projected exactly.

its a single lens throwing 3 different LEDs, so the light coming out of the lens is white if you look a the lens, but when it is projected onto the roof you'll see the 3 colours as separate clouds of nebula.

The green stars help a little bit with brightness.

they light up the room, but not enough to read a book for example. think of it as a night light/mood lamp.

      • Just want some TV back white light but don't want to pay a lot for Philips

        • you want an entirely different product, then.

        • You want something like this for bias lighting

          6000K, high CRI

I use it behind my monitor for work.

          AU $16.83 6%OFF | CRI + 90 5m 600 LED 2835 Highlighted LED Strip 5m,24V 12V Flexible Light 120 LED/m High brightness LED Strip White/Warm White
          https://a.aliexpress.com/_mP8c2lA

          • @impoze: Thanks, what is "Color" 24V/12V means? How to power it up?

  • Would have been better as blue stars but for the price i'll give it a go

  • Thanks OP - grabbed one - keen to see if I can modify the green filter with a blue one down the track

    • +2

Pretty sure it's a green laser not a filter

  • Thanks OP.
I was looking for something like this to replace the cheapo star light from ebay.

  • Thanks OP. My 10 year old is going to love this in her room!

  • +4

I'm a fully grown adult, no kids.

    Bought one for the lulz

    • +4

      profile picture checks out

    • combine it with a trip to Dan Murphy's for 100% fun

  • +2

Just doing the usual OzB thing, don't need it, but I want it. Ordered.

  • +5

I've always thought the "stars" in these things look downright weird. Just a regular grid of laser dots. Not exactly a random starfield.

    • +1

If I could get one of these that threw up a replica of the current night sky inside the room i would be all over it..

  • +2

Ended up cancelling my order after reading some reviews and looking at the pictures in the review (saying that it does not fill an entire room only a small part)

    • The 1 star review on amaazon seems to have a different product

      • +2

Look at the 2 star review from Ashleigh from Australia, she reviews the green one, with photos

        • +1

looked at a few youtube reviews, seems it like it does the job, she's using a wide-angle lens, so difficult to tell whether she has a low ceiling or not. I'll typically look at the 3-4 star reviews and base my judgement on that, given there are only 2 low-rated reviews and the rest seem to be positive I reckon it's worth a shot. Prime always has free returns if you have it.

          • +5

            @spacemannn:

Prime always has free returns if you have it.

Ok fair enough, bought again lol

            • +2

@montorola: It fills the room if you have it literally in the middle of the room which you likely won't cos aesthetics. I use it up against the wall just as a highlight at night time when I'm gaming haha. Like a night light for my office.

Bought another for the kids to though.

Dont expect it in a convenient location whilst filling the room… It ain't THAT good. But it's good.

    • much like a projector wont fill an entire room with projection, neither will this light.

best result is putting it in one corner and projecting towards the centre of the ceiling. I have two set up behind my couch projecting onto the ceiling/wall, that way I dont see the hotspot from the lamps themselves.

  • +9

Bought because more than 100 votes

  • +1

Thanks OP. gonna be some good intresting night time activity for kids.
bought one, but doing research now. haha.

  • Might look cool with the rest of our lights on stage.

  • +1

Bought the Kmart Genio version some time ago and it's surprisingly good; I use it in my PC room and it fills the ceiling nicely and is actually quite atmospheric. That along with my light bar provides enough light to see what you're doing with the lights off and dark enough for gaming and media consumption. I have it plugged into a smart plug so I could turn it on/off with Google voice assistant.

I don't like the green star/grid either so I just turn that off in the app while keeping the nebula clouds running.

    • I'm assuming the projector also projects on your PC screen, is there any issues with seeing the picture clearly etc?

      • +1

Nah I have it aiming up so it doesn't interfere with the screen at all…it does leak a little to the back wall but I guess that also depends on the direction you're aiming it at.

  • +2

    good review/comparison here on youtube.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbLoaRL1r8o

  • Does this plug directly to the wall GPO? Or power over USB / battery?

    • wall

    • +4

It's a usb c, comes with a usb c wall plug. But I've run it off a power bank before.

  • Got one, cheers.

  • How much watts this light takes for a night light. Cant find it in listing

  • -4

Bought immediately because of the votes and fomo. Came back to read what it was. Went back and cancelled order

  • +2

It is a gimmick but worth it for my kids, they use it as a night light. Good price.

Need to download the app to get the most of of it though. You'll be able to fine tune brightness of all the rgb and stars to get the right mix. The standard modes are a little bit bright to leave on as a night light. Set mine to power off after three hours.

  • +10

I seen this on amazon and didn't buy it … seen it on ozbargain and bought it

  • got this during prime day for $23.3 also.. great buy!

  • +2

I love how the deal is still going, they must have a crapload of stock lol

  • +1

Saw the deal - click link to Amazon - buy now. No idea why I bought it. Should be alright lol

  • Anyone used this on a black ceiling? Would I be wasting my time getting this?

  • +2

No thanks. I need to save the $28 to offset inflation of every other necessity

  • Damnit. Just bought one as well
