  • Can someone please tell me what "Grey import" means in the Apple ecosystem world?

will it not show up as a new device in my apple account?

    • +4

It will but you have only 12 months of warranty and no ACL after that. That's basically it

      • Applecare plus now have international warranty upto to 5 years.

      • +3

A business can’t limit the term of statutory guarantees. Or even claim that they can do that. Your remedy just isn’t against apple, it is against the retailer.

        • -1

I wouldn't bet on that considering they clearly state that this is a direct import and not Australian.

          • +1

@dosada: ACL still applies, they just acknowledge that it is harder or impossible to enforce against overseas sellers. Whether the seller declares it as a grey import or not doesn't affect your rights.

Your rights when buying parallel imports

While you have the same consumer rights when you buy parallel imports as you do with any other goods, it may be more difficult to obtain a remedy if something goes wrong with a parallel import.

            Consumer guarantees

            • Goods come with a number of guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, known as consumer guarantees. If your good is faulty or does not do what you asked for you may be entitled to a remedy which includes a right to a repair, replacement or refund.
            • The seller who you bought the good from will be responsible for providing you with a remedy under the consumer guarantees.
            • The seller cannot refuse to help you or ask you to contact the local manufacturer.
            • If the seller is based overseas, there may be practical and legal difficulties in enforcing your consumer guarantee rights against an overseas business.

            Local manufacturers and warranties

            • If the product comes with a manufacturer’s warranty - that warranty may not apply in Australia, or depending on the terms and conditions may not apply to products sold as parallel imports.
            • Although your products may carry a particular or popular brand name - if it is sold to you as a parallel import, the local manufacturer is not required to help you if the product develops a fault. You need to contact the seller.
            • You may not be able to get assistance such as product/technical support or repair/spare part facilities from the local manufacturer or their representative. For example, the software of your product may not be suited for the Australian market. You need to contact the seller.

      • i have my iphone 12 from officeworks in June, but why the warranty is only until next June, just 1 year? i though apply has 2 years warranty in aust

        • +3

ACL rights are not reflected in the Apple warranty

    • Might be an American or Japanese model.

      • +1

Not good for voyeurs you mean

      • Probably missing a few Australian frequencies too

  • Misleading. Same chip found in the 13 and 13 mini. It a cut down chip of the 13 Pro\Pro max.

    • Edited.

    • cut down? You mean the 1 less GPU core?

Won't make the slightest difference in any scenario so yes practically the same chip as the 13 Pro/Max.

  • I saw their listing yesterday and was wondering how they are selling a used and a brand new phone at the same price..!

  • Keep a close eye on Reebelo. Sometimes they have pricing errors which can really work in your favor, like my s21ultra post

I believe this comes from some automated live pricing adjustment system they may have….which like anything, can fail.

Also, keep in mind it's not reebelo selling the device, instead they are a marketplace for other stores to sell their refurb stuff.

Regarding my s21 ultra and experience with reebelo. Both excellent, my phone is my daily driver and am confidently going to use reebelo for most refurb purchases from now on.

  • Would JB Hi-fi price match this?

    • Why not find out & let us know?

      • +3

        Username doesn't check out.

    • I don't think so. It says "Direct Import". Even Officeworks won't price match this I guess.

      • They would if it is the same model number.

        • +1

Reebelo doesn’t have the model number listed

Called OW and got the price beat for 128GB model as it was the only one on their site. The exec was doubtful but did it as ‘a one time’.

Actual price on OW - $797
          Price on Reebelo - $689
          What I paid to OW - $654.55

          • @karseeeejaaaa: called them but they say can't do it because of no model number listed… how to get around it

            • @xfeier53: Persistent :)
              Call again. Try another executive.

I answered by saying that this is iPhone SE 2022 and not sure why the model number isn’t explicitly listed. Shouldn’t be something else than what OW has listed.

  • Specs say this has 5G but not confident as it is an import.

Can anyone confirm that the 5G works?

  • +1

The only warning I would give to people buying this is that the battery on these are slightly lower than the regular 13/14 phones.

    Haha..

OP, I'm going to award you the "creative human" award for the copy/paste of my description from the one I posted recently.

    • Didn't downvote you but this and yours are two different source.

  • Can I ask.. anyone uses these guys before? After a quick google search, I saw that these guys are a bit cheaper even after delivery cost. Also, they seem to have 5% off
