Good price, already have GT 2.

  • +9

This watch has one of the best heart rate monitors of any watch only 2nd to Apple, and should be equivalent now to the GT3 pro results with the latest updates as it has the same sensor. I get about 10 days battery life with continuous heart-rate, SPO2, sleep tracking and temperature sensor.

Cons: May be a deal breaker for some but I had to side load the APK from Huawei as the latest app from google play did not support it.

    • +4

You forgot to mention the biggest con….No NFC

    • Yes I'm having trouble with this now. Can't find the device in the app.

  • Does it work with iPhone?

    • +1

Yes it does, but some features may be limited from what i saw.

    • Just no ability to reply to messages or view images etc. and of course no integration like Apple Maps, Spotify offline download, all the apple features etc.

  • Does this one has apple app support?

      • +50

If you are a Optus customer, you wouldn't even worry about China at this stage.

        • +1

          Lol

        • where can i find an optus watch?

        • +8

Worse than China is CIA that monitors all US devices. Even German's Merkel couldn't hide.

        • -3

Luckily I am not a tight arse and i pay for telstra. You pay for what you get people.

          • +8

@kungfuman: Not a tight arse but scouring for bargains. Got it.

            • @RSmith: if you're a optus customer well your bargains got your data sold to the highest bidder.

      • +1

Worse than China is CIA that monitors all US devices. Even German's Merkel couldn't hide.

        • Someone 4 posts above posted something very similar

  • what is that "watch D" ??? so expensive could be price error

  • +3

    no nfc no deal
    rather eat kfc

    • +2

Yeah, this is the kicker for me…
Otherwise pretty close to a perfect device at a very decent price point.

      • +1

should put this in bold on top. i dont want someone fomo then later crying

        • +1

That's the way it is in here.
          Buy first, think later.

    • yep this is the only reason why im not getting one

    • rather eat kfc

Even with their rubbish new app 🤣

  • Does anyone know if it has calendar/reminders and calculator functions?

    • +1

Yes it works on android, you can install a simple calculator app too.

      • +1

oooohhhh… It's been years since I had a calculator watch!

  • +2

I'm still using GT1. Still getting 10 days battery use. Would be nice to upgrade but I'll probably wait for GT4, maybe it will support nfc

  • +2

    I've got the gt2 pro.

It's pretty good especially the battery life. Does the usual stuff like sleep tracking, steps and exercise, multiple watch faces, heart rate

Things that it could improve on: call quality, there's no whatsapp voice calling (doesn't even ring when calls received with whatsapp), no NFC. The big annoyance is that it doesn't sync automatically with google fit due to the banning stuff so I use an app called Health Sync to get data from Huawei Health > Health Sync > Google fit.

    • How do you rate the notifications? If someone sent you a message on whatsapp for example and it's about the length of your comment, how much of it can you see on your watch before it asks you to pull out your phone to see it?

      • +1

Notifications are decent. You can set up which apps send notifications through. Can swipe up from the bottom to bring up recent messages and view. I don't get really wordy messages so not sure if there is a text limit. Also, it doesn't send through images or allow for replies on the watch.

        • +1

You can reply to sms via pre/custom quick replies with the GT3

Great price. Been using the version with the chrome watch and brown leather band the past couple of months as I was over charging my Apple Watch 3 daily. Battery is crazy good. Love that it doesn’t look like a typical smartwatch. Not much I miss from the Apple Watch but then again I only need a few basic functions.

    Mine with cheap stainless band

    • Looking nice! What size bands fit this watch and which one have you got?

      • +2

Any 22mm quick release band will fit, so ones for Galaxy Watch etc will fit. This one was just a cheapy off Amazon.

      • 22 mm - I got this one: Fullmosa Quick Release on Amazon.

For the price, quite nice and really makes the watch look quite nice.

Great watch - good hr monitor, accurate GPS, looks like a real watch with a metal bracelet, very good quality build, great battery, very cheap price!

It is quite big though at 46 mm, basically on the limit for average sized wrists.

    • +1

Man thanks a very very chunky watch!

    • +1

Not sure if your wrist is small or this watch is gigantic.

      • +1

Both lmao… I actually wanted the 42mm but it doesn’t come with the numbered bezel and yes I have the wrists of a child

  • The only problem for me with GT2 is about phone call, I don't want to use the watch to answer call, even I turned it off in bluetooth settings, sometimes it will auto turned on for me when call in.

  • +2

Still going great for a year.. and counting with gt2, from jb hifi.. Waterproof and great battery life for 10 days thought calims 2eeks' bat fair use. No regrets no nfc

  • +1

Got one mostly impressed by battery's longevity. Thanks OP.

  • +2

FFS OB, thought I was done spending money for the month.

I had no intention of upgrading, and really have no reason to as my GT 2 is still as good as the day I got it. However, it's a good deal even without the $100 Amazon card thrown in.

  • How does this work? During checkout it said $289 but before that it said $189…will I be charged $289 and get a & $100 gift card or will only be charged $189 and no gift card?

    • duh.. ofcourse you pay 289, gift car is not discount

    • The promotion says you get a $100 gift card when purchasing the watch for $289, but in the cart, you get the watch for $189 and pay for the card.
      All works out the same.

  • -1

how do you get "+ Bonus $100 Amazon Gift Card"

edit so its $389.00 (watch + $100 card)

    • pay $289 and receive $100 gift card.

    • The promotion message said add both to the cart. I add both. it end up $100 gift card + $289 watch. total $389. I wonder it misleading promotion or not. it's add on, not reduction. I am worry to click the process checkout. because they probably has no option and just check out like that with $389. Anyone has this experience?
Haven't said that, is that $189 deal was happened previously. As I recall I was almost put the trigger to buy one. Maybe Black Friday…

      • +2

Total should be $289 during check out.

        • Done. you are right. they deduct at the end of check out. Love Amazon delivery. you can get it next day.

    • Watch 289 plus 100 gift card, you dont get charged for the gift card at checkout.

  • Don't like the way they apply the discount in checkout, removing $100 from the watch.

They should remove the $100 from the gift card and keep the watch at $289.

    • +4

You do know that the final fee after the $100 voucher is $189 right?

      • +1

Yes… the point of my comment is if you have a problem later on which allows you to receive a full refund for the product you won't be receiving $289 dollars back for it. I'm not talking about purchasing it and returning but if you have a warranty issue. Etc.

      • No. I just bought it and followed up with chat to amazon. Its 289 charged and you get the watch and a $100 gift card to use at later date.

    • +4

They do that because if they keep the watch price at $289 and deduct $100 from the gift card, and you return the watch later, they would have to refund you the full price of the watch, which means you get $100 for free. Amazon is not that stupid 😂

  • -4

Galaxy watch 4 has been similar price without nees for gift card

    • You mean around $190 for the 46mm version? I don't think so. I shop on Amazon a lot, so the card is basically $100 cashback to me.

By the way, I have the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm and love it, but the HRM sensor is terrible as it cuts out a few times during a workout and is inaccurate (I've compared it to a chest strap).

I ended up getting this to use for my workouts and for general wear when I don't want to worry about the battery life. I also have the Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire in my collection, but have not been wearing it much since getting the Galaxy Watch 4 despite the great HRM and battery life, as I mostly train indoors and prefer the usability of a smartwatch for everyday use.

      • For the 46mm no, but the Galaxy Watch 4 42mm was $190 not that long ago matching theiconic.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/722191

To be fair it sold through very quickly I.e in less than 15 minutes and it's not the regular sale price.

        • And I wouldn't go for less than 46mm for my wrists (my other watches are 46mm and 51mm). This is not like for like, because of the many limitations of the Huawei, but I don't think you can go wrong at this price for the battery and the HRM alone (in a nice design).

By the way, my order total is $189 after "-$100 Promotion Applied". I wanted to see it in my bank account, but it's not come through yet.

          • +1

@elektron: Yes but you get charged $100 for the gift card

            • @jonnoyeo: The 44mm was 180. I currently use the watch 4 and previously had the huawei watch gt. The huawei is a nice looking fitness tracker, it is NOT a smart watch. That is why it has great battery life. It is also bulky and not comfortable to wear at night

              • @mlburnian: I've worn a 51mm Garmin at night with no issues, so it's more of a personal preference. I've only stopped because its sleep tracking was useless.

          • @elektron: You must have fat wrists

            • @mlburnian: They're not that thick and my body fat level is below average, but I do have big arms, so chunky watches look good on me.

  • Guys I am not good at tech, anybody know can I use it to pay at restaurant and tap on in train stations the same way I use my iPhone? Thanks.

    • +3

      No, it doesn't have NFC

  • +1

Big fan for HUAWEI watch, durable and long battary.

  • how does the battery last 10 days when my galaxy watch4 only lasts a day

    • -3

Super low powered CPU. It isn't as advanced as Samsung Watch

    • It is a fitness tracker not a smart watch like the galaxy

      • +2

It is a fitness tracker not a smart watch like the galaxy

This can also do message notification, receive call, just can't install apps.

    • Yea, my original thought too, but I guess it make sense if it works as a fitness tracker with no bell and whistle…

    • For context I have a coros which is a running watch and tracks steps, no bells and whistles and it'll do 30 days.

  • Got the gt2. Works great looks good.
Use custom app for custom face watches

  • +1

I tried a GT2 for a while. Great watch but it blocked audio for phone calls when using android auto. Does the problem occur with the GT3?

    eg https://groups.google.com/g/tasker/c/FUlR43OPKz8?pli=1

  • I tried to place order but i can't see any discount…attached the checkout screen shot…please advise

    https://imgur.com/a/AOJ4XhR

    • did you click on promotion "add both to the cart"? I did and when I went to checkout it displayed $289

      • Its $289 watch and $100 gift card…how can it be 189??

        https://imgur.com/gallery/8xeI4hV

        • $100 gift card is free, part of the promotion, $289 watch minus $100 gift card = $189

          • @battler69: This deal is not clear at all. I placed order exactly per instructions..ie "add both to cart " on promotion page. Final total is $289 to credit card after placing order and they are shipping watch and a gift card.

  • how's the app ecosystem?

    app notifications & strava?

  • Apparently no media controls when paired with iOS.
On top of no NFC payments at all.
Think I’ll have to give this one a miss.

    • yep, no native strava or whatsapp replying either

      • +1

Par for the course that smartwatches can’t reply to messages paired with an iPhone.
One of those artificial limitations Apple includes.

        • -1

and I was referring to android usage

    • +1

I can control Spotify and the like when using my iPhone if that’s what you mean

  • +2

How can I not buy this especially I have a Huawei phone as well.

    • Double delight

    • Do you have Optus too? If so, it’s a triple whammy

  • Gt3 pro for 499? Theres sellers on ebay that sell for around 400 but not sure how legit they are

  • Got one. Good deal. Can't say no

  • Ah just bought the Garmin Venu 2s, this one seems not quite as good but a fraction of the price

  • Any cyclists among us know if this works with a power meter? Google doesn't seem to show anyone that's actually tested it.

  • was back in stock for a minute and I bought 1 but with a 1 to 2 month backorder. Now it is out of stock again

  • It’s back but unfortunately no $100 gift card :(

  • The normal leather band version is on sale at $298
