ex SYD??? I just picked SYD-KUL-SYD 25 Jun out 11 Jul back and the Y class fare was nearly $1200

    • +6

That's across the school holidays for a start…

      • True. At that time it's cheaper to travel MH

  • +2

Please don’t use this airline.they have stolen everyone’s money. Provided unwanted credits that can’t be used. You will be very sorry using them.

    • +6

Good luck telling to non-affected ones when the price is dirt cheap

    • +11

We had multiple tickets to KL during covid and the best Airasia would do is a credit which didn't suit us. We fought tooth and nail for a refund and wasted so many hours even just trying to communicate. They kept refusing and then we thought we'd give a chargeback a try via ING. ING recovered the outgoing fares in under two weeks, however Airasia refused the return fares for some reason. We put in another chargeback request and in the end ING recovered that leg as well. Man it was a good feeling to stick it to them haha. ING were amazing and I'll always use their card for airline tickets from now on.

      • +3

I think the best everyone was doing was credits wasn't it? Qantas, VIrgin and AirNZ all refused refunds and just gave me credits for my cancelled covid flights.

        • -3

refund from airlines is hard, how about getting refund from travel agent like bratthatflight and others?

          • +12

@a1234my: Beatthatflight doesn't sell tickets, for a start. It's a search engine to find the cheapest prices elsewhere, as well as discount codes, promos, sales and the like.

        • I'm almost completely certain that some airlines offered refunds - I can't remember the specifics from back then, but I feel like from memory some airlines offered full refunds (iirc Qantas and Virgin), and I knew quite a lot of people who got the full refund, it just took a bit of time for it to go into the bank account

        • I got refund from AirNZ by calling them about my covid cancelled flights. The whole process is smooth, maybe you could try that.

          • @StephenCurry: I called them and they flat out refused. Mine was for around September 2021 lockdown, not sure if yours was earlier.

            • @wittyusername: Oh really that was too bad. Mine was around April this year during Shanghai lockdown, they cancelled/postponed flight like 3 times and eventually cancelled it. Called them this month to get the refund.

What's this about? I used to fly with them a bunch years ago and found it okay.

Covid has caused problems and haters for every airline unfortunately :/ I've used them in the past too, really liked them for a low cost carrier, and their food was actually worth paying for onboard! But as per the facebook groups for "I hate RyanAir" or "Jetstar Sucks" there are people that have had issues with any and every airline during this time :/

I wasn't trying to be difficult, but there were 6 of us and it was a now or never situation so a 12 month credit was useless and I wasn't keen on forfeiting 3 grand. The complete stonewalling from Airasia at the time was frustrating.

Prior to covid I flew Airasia a number of times and they were great and I'll definitely use them again.

Totally agree with the food, it leaves other low cost airlines for dead.

          • @cv05: Absolutely! I've still got some Qantas credit that I'm trying to claw back, it's very frustrating :/

        • Stop blaming everything on Covid if people hate airline.

Airlines can get away from poor services, but not refund the cancel flight is not right. People are desperate for cash during Covid and refund as credit is useless when people are unable to work to earn money to keep food on the table for family.

Credit did not offer the same value as it was before because flight tickets are generally more expensive right now.

            @nik:

Imagine buying a budget service then expecting gold star treatment…

They're already back - AirAsia X Resumes Flights Between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, Australia

AirAsia X (AAX) has resumed commercial services to Australia, after a two year hiatus caused by the pandemic.

The airline launched twice weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, Australia on Friday, and will connect the service to Auckland, New Zealand from 7 November 2022.

AirAsia X will also resume direct flights to Melbourne and Perth commencing early November 2022.

Thai AirAsia X, the affiliate long haul sister airline of AirAsia X, has also recently confirmed that it will launch new direct services from Suvarnabhumi Int. Airport (BKK) near Bangkok to Melbourne and Sydney, commencing 1 and 2 December 2022, respectively.

  • How do you see the table for the dates and prices?

scroll down past the section of links. I haven't done it for every route, just takes far too long and I'm slammed today at home, but it gives an idea for Langkawi and others, showing the dates from KL and the prices.

      • and which page is this on?

  • Any KUL-REP around sep6, 23?

Are these going via dingy boats?

  • Based on this news article, they should be resuming flights to MEL soon:

    https://www.9news.com.au/world/airasia-x-flights-to-melbourn…

  • it is good to have scoot and airasia for alternative

  • Any ideas when Air Asia X will resume Gold coast?

  • I look forward to going back to the good ol' days of airline pricing. Not the BS $1,500 one way to Asia fares we get during peak hours now.

  • Nothing for KL to Incheon?

Big Mistake we did in 2019, booking with Airasia, we are still trying to get a refund for a flight/return Mel to KL cost $1900, We tried chargeback through NAB in 2020, but no luck. We contacted Nab recently for another go on the chargeback but they now say that its too late (how could we know that Covid would have lasted so long and is still going on) .Recently we got a credit voucher from Airasia, but unfortunately we couldn't use the voucher in booking any flights in Dec22/Jan23, the period we wanted to transit through KL and though using the Voucher. We are still trying to get the refund - at least once per week to through their AVA… Each time takes minimum 1 hour wait time before you can chat to a real person. So to simplify, AVOID Airasia, very bad experience(which has not ended yet)

  • Ive only flown them once, precovid. Sydney Delhi return premium layflat for $1560 - bargain. Waiting for layflat sales to return. Was excellent value.

  • I booked an Air Asia flight from KUL-MEL via Air Asia for early Dec back in August. Just received notification that it was cancelled for 'operational reasons' - I asked for a refund and the live chat said it may take up to 6 months. SIX MONTHS for a refund?! What a disgrace. Surely that's just a ploy to deter customers from (rightfully) requesting their money back.
