Great for testing your service before upgrading

  • Does this offer apply for existing ABN holder who took your previous FB promo a while back or has to be a new customer?

    • Contact [email protected] they'll be able to help you.

  • is this a limited time offer or standard practice? Whats to stop a web developer opening multiple accounts for there customers on your lower plan?

    • Hi Elijha,

Originally this was only a promo but we've added is as a permanent feature to our website for the foreseeable future.

As for multiple accounts, so long as they are for unique businesses with unique ABN's go nuts! We manually check all ABN's and e-mail addresses to ensure there is only one free account per ABN & E-mail address just to keep it fair =)

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

      Cheers,

      SAU

  • What backup options are there with the free hosting?
Is there shell access? I don't want to try and backup regularly a site using FTP.

    Cheers,
    Hamish

    • Hi Hamish,

The whole server is backed up as a safeguard to protect against server failure but I highly recommend you do you're own backups as we don't cover backups under our terms and conditions, only for paid services. Cpanel has a backup option though that you can use which may suit your requirements.

As for shell access we also only allow this for paid accounts.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

      Cheers,

      SAU

      • Is there anywhere I can look into the CPanel backup feature? Is it a regualr CPanel feature?

        Cheers,
        Hamish

        • Honestly I personally an not in the tech team so I'm not 100% sure of the backup features.

Sign up for an account though, its free, and you can check for yourself =)

If you prefer though let me know and I'll ask one of the guys in the tech team.

          Cheers,

          SAU

  • Why do we need to enter credit card details for a free service?

    • My guess is to confirm you are the same person to which the abn is registered to.

      • You don't, when you're signing up you may be promoted to enter you're domain name. If you already have it registered through another provider choose the option that sayings something like "I already have a domain name and will update my name servers"

If you're still getting asked, choose bank transfer as the payment method.

So long as you don't opt to register a domain during the process you won't be billed though.

Let me know if you have any issues :)

This is a good deal. I signed up the last time they offered the free service to ABN holders on OZBargain. Can't fault the service, but mainly using it for email. Hope this opening of the flood gates doesn't kill my existing service :)

    • Thanks for the feedback Demod!

All servers, free included are limited to the number of sites they can have on them =) So don't stress!

  • Thanks!

  • Can anyone recommend some cheap places to register a domain?

    Great bargain.

GoDaddy works great for me. Some people like them, some don't. Note that they don't do .com.au domains. You can always get significant discounts with them via codes: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/godaddy.com

If you need a .com.au, Crazy Domains is my preferred: http://www.crazydomains.com.au

      • Awesome, thanks!

So if I was to purchase one from godaddy, would I then need to transfer it to Servers Australia or would I just select the

"I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain." option?

Also .com with crazydomains are $7 at the moment :)

Just choose "I will update my nameservers on an existing domain" and you'll have to change you're name servers to point to us, details of which can be found in the welcome e-mail once you sign up.
