    A couple of tips:

    • The gift cards pictured in OP's post and the participating retailers listed in the table are only for the Visa version of the Ultimate gift cards. Some Coles stores are still selling the older EFTPOS versions of the Ultimate gift cards, which have a much smaller set of participating retailers, cannot be used online at all, cannot be added to a mobile wallet and cannot be exchanged for digital gift cards from participating retailers. However, the EFTPOS gift cards will still be included in this deal. In terms of how to distinguish between the two:
What to look out for Visa EFTPOS
    Gift card number starts with… 457824 502125
Packaging Gift card is enclosed within packaging Gift card sits on top of packaging
Participating retailer logos are printed on… Packaging Front of the gift card

If you want to see an example, in this photo, the gift card on the left is the EFTPOS version, and the gift card on the right is the Visa version.

    • Participating retailers really can change at any time without notice. Although updates to participating retailers for Ultimate gift cards are almost always the addition of a new participating retailer, the recent 15% off deal illustrated that Blackhawk Network is more than willing to remove popular retailers from Ultimate gift cards for any reason whatsoever and without issuing a warning beforehand. Keep that in mind when you are about to purchase Ultimate gift cards through this deal (or really any deal).
    • Eftpos gift cards can be added up, and redeemed for a larger value gift cards, eg $500 ebgames GF, i actually prefer the old version, rather than swap for 10× $50 gift card.

      • +1

how to added up eftpos cards?

      • For EB Games, I've still using the Ultimate Students card can use them in store, unless you are attempting to order the stuffs from EB Games online store.

    • Going straight in my Notion 👌

    • Could I please just check if there is an activation fee (or any other fees) associated with the ultimate gift cards? Or am I safe to load/purchase the exact amount which I need for an online purchase at Ozsale (on the variable ultimate everyone card)? Thanks!

      • There are no activation fees or other kinds of fees with Ultimate gift cards.

For example, if you load $379 at the Coles checkout, you will have $379 loaded onto the Ultimate gift card and available to spend at OZSALE.

Keep in mind that if a merchant surcharges for Visa payments, you will need to pay for that surcharge when redeeming an Ultimate gift card.

    • Can i swap the new visa cards for Nandos and load in my Nandos account or its just i can pay online on nandos with new visa cards ?

      • +1

        Neither.

Nando’s only accepts Ultimate gift cards in their physical stores.

        • That's very sad. I am trying to add it in google wallet and it says there is some error and enter CVV, when i enter CVV, same issue.

          • +1

@ChipsChicky: Make sure you are using 12/29 as the expiry date (assuming you have a physical Ultimate gift card).

Besides that, I am not sure what else could be causing the error.

  • So you can only buy up to $500 max for the promotion?

  • Can you pay using Coles Master Cards?

    • I think so. Also you can buy Coles Gift Cards from Shopback.

      • +1

Can you confirm coles e-gift card can buy gift cards instore?

        • +1

Confirmed. Was able to buy Coles Mastercard gift cards with Coles e-gift vouchers.

      • Shopback does not show me coles gift cards. Can you post a link ?

  • +1

I think Woolworths wins for the upcoming week.

  • +6

After the last deal went so well, you'd be crazy to not buy thousands worth!

    • If you don't have to deal with their annoying ass website with the verification codes/pictures then it isn't too bad. That deal worked out for me in the end, 3k @ 15% off. While it did take probably 3-5minutes per card to activate/load into samsung pay, using it at JB was much faster with just tapping and not needing to enter a pin compared to physical cards. Decent trade off

      • Sure, if it works it's great. The company are dodgy as though.

        • +5

OzBargainers are dodgy as, so I guess it’s a marriage made in heaven?

  • +1

    $500 x 20= 10,000 (points)

10,000/200 = $50 (200 the points to dollar conversion factor)

    $50/$500 = 10% ….

Did I get it right ?

    • +1

Yup. 20x go promo usually means ~10% off (not quite, more like 9.09% off)

    • +2

Yep, 10% of the gift card's face value will be returned to you in the form of Flybuys points (assuming you stick to the 2000 Flybuys points = $10 in Flybuys Dollars rule of thumb).1

Usually, I point out in gift card deals at Coles/Flybuys that you would earn standard Flybuys points as well. However, for multiplier deals at Coles (such as this one), Coles already factors in the standard points earn rate into the multiplier, so you will actually 1 standard point and 19 bonus points for every $1 you spend on Ultimate gift cards (up to $500) through this deal.

      1. As soon as you start considering the value of Flybuys points when they are converted to Velocity Frequent Flyer points or when they are redeemed for TCN gift cards at a discount through the Flybuys Rewards Store, those calculations go out of the window, but let's not worry about that!

      • +1

To your footnote - I think that the Velocity conversion is actually the better choice.

If you take 2000 Flybuys points = $10 Flybuys dollars as the baseline then for the same 2000 Flybuys points you can redeem 1000 Velocity points.

Conventional wisdom is that if you can sell VFF points for 1c/point, giving $10 AUD = 1000 VFF = 2000 Flybuys points = $10 Flybuys dollars. I'd argue that $10 AUD is worth marginally more than 10 flybuys dollars because you can spend it wherever you want rather than being locked in to certain retailers. I appreciate that you are going to take on some risk in the act of selling the points but the economy of scale in collecting a large amount of VFF points and selling in a large batch for cash can mitigate the risk to just a single transaction.

Beyond that, we know that you could also use the points for a rewards flight or cabin upgrade etc which is usually even more valuable than 1c/point so on the whole I'd argue that as long as you're not doing something ill advised like converting your VFF points into gift cards or making some other kind of redemption that has a cash equivalent rate below 1c/point you are actually better off taking the Velocity points than the Flybuys dollars.

        • selling in a large batch for cash can mitigate the risk to just a single transaction.

Completely n00b question. How does one go about selling their VFF points at the rate you have mentioned above?

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Velocity don't have a secondary marketplace for buying and selling points but you can buy/sell/swap them in the Classified forums.
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/velocity%20type%3Ac…

Officially it's against the terms and conditions to transfer to a non family member (not that terms and conditions have stopped OzBargainers before) but you can transfer them to another VFF member as long as you have their surname and VFF number. You would then just select a "relationship" that you both agree on.

Then the money is sent via Paypal/PayID/cash in hand for face to face meetup etc as a separate but parallel transaction.

  • -4

    $30 = 600 Fiybuys Points; $50 = 1,000 Flybuys Points: $100 = 2,000 Flybuys Points

    This is misleading, should be $30 = 6000 Fiybuys Points; $50 = 1,0000 Flybuys Points: $100 = 2,0000 Flybuys Points

    • +3

      Maths… the post is correct.

      100 * 20 = 2000

      Also

A limit of 10,000 Flybuys points per Flybuys account applies.

        Still I stand for MISLEADING.

        • -2

what about rest of the two ?

  • Hi all, can we use a Coles discount voucher to buy this gift card ? There is an 5% voucher from perkbox.

  • Does Coles sell the $500 gift cards and is it included in the promo?

    • I spotted $50-$500 Ultimate Everyone and Ultimate Kids gift cards for the first time at Coles today, but I'm not sure whether Coles has actually started selling them or the gift card distributor accidentally handed them to the store.

Assuming Coles has started selling $50-$500 Ultimate gift cards, they will be part of this promotion, because there is nothing in the deal's fine print that specifically excludes them.

      • Hi Wookie,

Yes can confirm I also see 50-500 Ultimate everyone and kids gc for the first time in coles. Must be the right delivery

But not sure if they would be part of this deal but it would be great if it is . As there is nothing that speficially inclues them as well :)

        • +1

The deal is for all Ultimate gift cards, as there are no exclusions specifically listed whatsoever in the deal. Here’s why I drew that assumption:

          • Coles takes care to listing out exclusions in their gift card deals. For example, in the most recent Ultimate gift card deal at Coles, the deal title specifically listed $50 and $100 Ultimate gift cards, and the fine print specifically excluded all $30 Ultimate gift cards. Additionally, in the same deal, the deal never pictured the Ultimate Students or Ultimate Home gift cards, but I still earned bonus points on those gift cards. In another recent Ultimate gift card deal at Coles, the title of the deal called out specific types of Ultimate gift cards, and Coles also wrote in the fine print “Excludes all Ultimate gift cards not mentioned above.”

          • In the most recent Apple gift card deal at Coles, Coles never listed the variable $20-$500 denomination in the deal as an inclusion or exclusion, but it still earned bonus points.

There is always a chance that Coles stuffed up by forgetting to list the variable load denomination as an exclusion, but then that is their problem, because they incorrectly advertised the deal. You cannot reasonably say you have a deal for Ultimate gift cards and then not specifically advertise an exclusion, because when you say you have a deal for Ultimate gift cards, the default assumption is that you have a deal that applies for all Ultimate gift cards. Then again, I am geared up for a fight if needed, but Coles is very rarely that bad. I usually have a lot more issues with gift card deals at Woolworths / BIG W than Coles…

  • Thanks OP, I’m looking to buy a bike from 99 Bikes so this will come in handy.

    • +3

      They'll turn into 98 bikes..

and a couple 100s as chrissy gifts

        • I bought like over $10k but use them all already

  • +1

considering to grab some for coming Fuji XT5

  • Ok, I am in Coles looking straight at the Ultime gift cards. Just before I bought, I decided to check OZBargain and found this post. Haha nice! Thanks OP.

I have never used gift cards to buy a big $$ item. This time it will be ordering an iPhone.

So can I buy 4 X $500 Ultimate Him/Everyone (VISA version gift card) and tap my flybuys to get the points and use the gift card at JB HiFi online. Is that correct?

Wondering can this Ultimate VISA version card be bought online via Coles website and still get the flybuys bonus offer? Thanks.

    • +1

So can I buy 4 X $500 Ultimate Him/Everyone (VISA version gift card) and tap my flybuys to get the points

That’s probably not a good idea.

      • The maximum number of bonus points you can earn during this promotion per Flybuys account is 10,000 (which equates to a $500 purchase of Ultimate gift cards). If you want to purchase 4x $500 Ultimate gift cards, you will need access to three other Flybuys accounts.1

      • I have not seen a $50-$500 Ultimate Him gift card in real life at any brick & mortar retailer, but if you saw one at your local Coles, that’s very good to know!

Btw, if you have an Everyday Rewards membership and have use for either Everyday Rewards points or Qantas points, this upcoming deal at Woolworths on Apple gift cards may be of interest.

and use the gift card at JB HiFi online. Is that correct?

      No.

You can only redeem a maximum of 1x Ultimate gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website, as Ultimate gift cards operate on the Visa network, and JB Hi-Fi (and pretty much every participating retailer I can think of in the Ultimate gift card scheme) cannot handle payments from multiple Visa cards in one online transaction.

On the other hand, you can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one transaction on the JB Hi-Fi website, so the way around the Ultimate gift card restriction online is by using your Ultimate gift card to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card. I’ve talked about this many times on this website, so instead of repeating myself and making this comment unreadably long, have a look at this comment for more information on this.

(Btw, if you see reference to a gift card exchange facility on the Ultimate gift card website, JB Hi-Fi has not been featured on that exchange facility for about a year.)

Wondering can this Ultimate VISA version card be bought online via Coles website and still get the flybuys bonus offer?

      No.

      • Coles Online (the website where you purchase groceries online) does not stock gift cards. It is also specifically called out as an exclusion for this deal.

      • giftcards.com.au (which is Coles Group’s online gift card portal) is specifically called out as an exclusion for this deal.

      1. If you have multiple cardholders tied to a single account, the maximum number of bonus points all cardholders can earn between them during this deal is 10,000. In other words, if one cardholder went and purchased a $500 Ultimate Everyone gift card, they would get the bonus points, but if another cardholder on the same account also purchased a $500 Ultimate Everyone gift card, they would not receive any bonus points.

      • Can you use more than 1 ultimate gift card in the same transaction in-store at JB? E.g. Buy a $2k tv with 4x$500 ultimate gift cards.

Also, can you create multiple fly buys accounts and buy 1x$500 ultimate gift card on each account?

        • Yep, it should be fine, as long as staff are happy to do that. Someone once redeemed 81 cards in one instore transaction. (Yes, they redeemed TCN gift cards, but JB Hi-Fi handles both TCN gift cards and Ultimate gift cards as cards, not gift cards.)

You can create multiple Flybuys accounts and purchase 1x $500 Ultimate gift card on each account. I'm actually going to purchase another $500 Ultimate gift card soon to see what will happen if I purchase 2x $500 Ultimate gift cards on the same Flybuys account. My guess is that I won't get any more bonus points…

  • Is there any harm in just picking new flybuys cards from counter to get around the 500$/10000points limit?

  • +2

Just purchased a $500 Everyone card.
    Waiting the Flybuy points…

    • let me know if it goes through straight away

      • Purchased $500 around midday on mine and wife's account, neither points have come through

        • +1

Qualifying points do not arrive until the following evening.

          • @kerfuffle: Thanks good to know!

            • +3

@pizzapock3t: The standard and bonus points should be credited to your account by 5pm AEDT tomorrow.

However, there have been a couple of instances recently where points I earned from Coles took an extra day or two to be credited to your account. That is not the norm, though.

      • +1

    • +2

      Received 9500 + 500 points at 15:40

  • Is the Everyone card included? Its not on the picture

  • Everyone GC is the best for me rather than Home GC. I saw variable card on my coles. I will buy this $500 when I got confirmation of OZBs.

  • Does anyone know if it includes ultimate kids card, does not mention on the promo sticker they have?

    • The ad says that "on Ultimate Gift CardS", what do you think?

  • +4

For anyone wondering whether the $50-$500 Ultimate Everyone gift card earns bonus Flybuys points for this deal, it does.

I purchased 1x $500 card yesterday and just had 500 standard points and 9500 bonus points posted to my Flybuys account.

    • Cool! Thanks. Is this card swappable for e gift card?

      • You can add it to a mobile wallet, so you can use it at participating retailers that accept mobile wallets.

You can also exchange it for a digital gift card from some participating retailers through the Ultimate gift card website. You’ll need to refer to the Ultimate gift card website for the most up-to-date list.

  • There is alot of $50-$500 Everyone cards at my local lol. Used coles mastercard on shopback for ($2 cashback) for egift and redeemed no problem.

  • Forgot about these cards on sale….. wanting to spend about $500 at Rebel Sport. Looks like I have to find the older cards issued before 01 Oct 2022 as they still have Rebel on them and they accept them. Can they be used online with Rebel, ie 5 giftcards? Or can it only be 1? If only 1, whats the highest amount I can get that has Rebel Sport on it? Don't think it is on Ultimate Everyone gift card. OR do I buy $500 worth of Ultimate cards and then take them to Rebel and get them to convert to a $500 rebel gift card? Can this be done?

    • +1

      Not quite.

      • For Ultimate Him, Kids and Teens eGift Cards, only eGift Cards issued before 01 Oct 2022 can be redeemed at rebel.

      • For Visa versions of the Ultimate Him, Kids and Teens physical gift cards, as long as the rebel logo is on the front of the packaging, you can redeem it at rebel, even if you purchase it after 01 Oct 2022.

      • For EFTPOS versions of the Ultimate Him, Kids and Teens gift cards, those can still be redeemed at rebel, but only in-store.

You can only redeem a maximum of 1x Ultimate (Visa) gift card on the rebel website, but the Ultimate gift card exchange facility will still let you exchange an Ultimate (Visa) gift card with rebel as a participating retailer for a digital rebel gift card. You cannot exchange multiple Ultimate (Visa) gift cards at the same time into one rebel gift card, so (for example) you cannot exchange 5x $100 Ultimate (Visa) gift cards into 1x $500 rebel gift card through the Ultimate gift card website.

The rebel website states you can only redeem a maximum of three rebel gift cards per online transaction, but I am not sure whether this is actually enforced! I see the same page also does not mention a limit for the number of rebel gift cards you can redeem in one in-store transaction. (I don’t have any experience using rebel gift cards.)

If you cannot find a $50-$500 Ultimate Kids or Teens gift card at Coles (and I did see one of them at Coles the day before the current deal started), but you still want to use Ultimate gift cards on the rebel website, you will need to go to a rebel store and see whether they will let you use multiple Ultimate gift cards to purchase 1x rebel gift card.

      • +1

Thanks Wookie, very detailed. Yeah was wanting to double dip, ie get cashrewards benefit and Bonus FB points. If I find a $500 VISA Ultimate card with Rebel on it, then I can double dip as it will be just a visa payment online and getting the cashrewards on top. If cannot find them, I might just go instore and purchase with say 5 x 100 cards and forget about the cashrewards ,……. or as you say ask them if they will allow me to purchase 1 x 500 rebel gift card with the 5 x 100 ultimates…. then purchase online using the one rebel card ! Confusing!

        • +1

The Cashrewards page for rebel states that the redemption of gift cards will make you ineligible for cashback. If I were you, I would not go to the effort of converting multiple Ultimate gift cards into one rebel gift card, as there's a very high chance you’ll get $0 cashback after all your effort!

On the other hand, if you find a $50-$500 Ultimate (Visa) gift card with rebel as a participating retailer, you should still be eligible for cashback when you use it on the rebel website, as rebel and Cashrewards will see you used a Visa card as a payment method, not a rebel gift card

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Ta mate, make sense… i better get my skates on and see if I can find any cards out there……

  • I purchased the gift cards a week ago and haven’t received the bonus points yet. Can it sometimes take this long?

    • I got within 2 business days of transaction.

    • I received mine around 4:40pm Sydney time the day after purchasing the gift card. I don’t recall ever having to wait a week to receive bonus Flybuys points from an in-store gift card deal at Coles.

If you definitely scanned your Flybuys card during your purchase of the gift card and you definitely purchased Ultimate gift cards (and not TCN gift cards nor other gift cards by accident), I would suggest contacting the Flybuys team to chase this up, as it sounds unusual.

Keep in mind that you would only receive bonus Flybuys points for the first $500 you spent on Ultimate gift cards during this deal (and I tested this out during this deal by purchasing more than $500 worth of Ultimate gift cards).

      • Argh they were TCN, rookie error
