@Rain Cloud: I did request for delivery but they said not possible. Could only ask for store transfer. Hopefully they don't report 'lost in transit' or something else.

  • is this dual sim ? how do i use 2 sim cards there is no slot

      @5minutes 11 seconds

      Its a combo nanosim/sdcard slot.

So either 2 nanosim or 1 nanosim and 1 microsd card.

  • How do i transfer all apps photos etc from current one to this?

    • +3

I believe if your old phone was logged in to google and google photos are synced they should sync when new phone is logged in too

There is an app on google play that does this for you. I forgot the name, but I'm sure you'll find it with a quick search.

    • +3

I helped my in law do it. Granted she was on an older Motorola.

But literally turned it on and then it says copy data and plugged a usb c to usb c from new to old and let it copy

Took about 14 minutes for 63gb of data.

Other than that logins weren’t preserved for app sessions so you have to religion but that’s about I

I got mine from a store today. So good huge improvement from galaxy g32 4g. So good to be back on snapgradon.

Bought one. Got an email from JB delivering by Monday. Best deal ever!

Very noticeable camera lag. Didn't expect much from the camera for the price but didn't expect the lag to be so noticeable

    • +1

      Mine is great

  • Anyone notice the rear of the phone has a vibration when sound is playing ?

  • +3

Got mine set up and am happy with it.

  • Whats peoples tboughts so far. Happy. Any regrets pros/cons?

    • +3

Very nice phone for the money. Screen is awesome, camera quite impressive during the day, face unlock/fingerprint scanner are great. Looks more expensive than it is, especially in white. I like that you don't have to pay extra for a case, headphones, charger etc. Everything is there and it's ready to use. A steal at $200.

      • Picked up grey, should i change to white?

    • Had mine for 2 days now and I am extremely happy with it. Fantastic screen, face/fingerprint unlock very fast, very close to stock Android. Almost Nokia like in that regard. As others have said, it was absolute steal at $200.

I haven't tried the camera in low light yet, but so far I am more than happy with it. Pics look good and it's operation is quite snappy.

This is replacing a Nokia G50 which I paid $360 for, and while it is decent even for that price, the Motorola leaves it for dead in every respect.. As you would expect.

      • Do you experience the back panel of the phone vibrating when speakers are playing?

        • I haven;t noticed it. I have only played a little bit of a movie and a little music so far, I do have the gel case on it though. I will make a point of looking out for it and get back to you.

          • @revheadgl: Thanks. Its the area near the camera thats vibrating.

            • +1

@djevoultion: Just cranked some stuff using the phones speakers. It does vibrate there a bit, but that is the top speaker playing. The same vibration is there near the bottom speaker as well.

This phone has stereo speakers, turn your phone horizontally and you will hear it.

Nothing to worry about in my opinion. Speakers vibrate and that is just carrying through the plastic back panel.

              Hope this helps.

              • @revheadgl: Thanks, thats helpful. Wondering if a better case might alleviate the issue. Im used to phones that dont vibrate

  • I ordered the grey in hurry , should I change to white ????

    • -1

Yes! Just ask when you go to pick it up. The white looks so nice.

    • Grey will get you a higher resell value than white in the second hand market

      • Why?

        • +2

Dunno. People are drawn to darker colours in the second hand market. I guess because darker colours hide imperfections and scratches but are more visible on lighter colours

    • I swapped for white today, really nice.

      • I tried to swap but staff refused stating it has to be full price of $499.

        • I had 3 or 4 people looking after me today (staff in training, supervisor, manager, other supervisor) didn't seem an issue for them.
It did take a bit of time hence I assume staff couldn't be bothered in your instance.
          Maybe try a different store?

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: I had a very rude staff anyways (full of ego).

Me and my partner bought the phone and she seems very displeased. Even she made a comment "oh, so you are both going to be use same type of phone".

I still regret not saying "None of your business".

            • @Ash-Say: Damn I wish my partner bought the same! (She's an iPhone user lol)
Definitely try to swap at a different store, especially if you got both same colour.

  • Anyone got a good case recommendation, I just find the provided case does not offer good protection for the rear cameras!

  • +1

hey has anyone worked out how to have the clock on all the time on this phone? it only shows if i tap or unlock the screen. samsung has 'always on display' and pixel 2xl was just on as far as i remember.

    • Try tapping the clock, go to settings then tap screensaver.

  • Hi,

Got this phone the other day, inserted Boost sim and it picks up the network in one second and other second it looses the network. Not able to receive or make phone calls with Boost sim. Has anyone tried using this phone with Boost sim and it works? Appreciate guidance.

    Thanks heaps.

    • +1

I'm having the exact same issue, also with boost. Was able to connect to wifi after disabling the Sim. Currently installing the August update to see if it helps

      • Thanks. Please keep us posted. Much appreciated.

Below is the link posted in one of the threads discussing same issue with G51 5G.

        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/30x18j6j#r71602241

        • I got the phone for my mum. Her boost Sim doesn't work, mine does. It is extremely odd. I can get it to work if if I insert my Sim and then replace it with her's while the phone is on. However, restarting the phone leads to the constant network resetting. I might try contacting boost to see if they can provide a different Sim. It's a great phone for the price, not sure if I want to return or keep it as a backup if I can't get it working.

Fyi my Sim has 3 lines with the Sim id on it, my mum's is just 1 line across the bottom

          • @Godrunnr: Im thinking boost uses a band not supported by the G82

            • @easternculture: Ah thats pretty shit. Considering boost. Is there a fix to this?

              • +1

@Jono258: Not sure. But the only thing i can think of thats causing this problem is that boost is locked on a band not supported on the phone

If you purchase a Boost Prepaid SIM you'll need to have an 850MHz compatible handset for 3G access and LTE band 3 (1800MHz) and band 28 (700MHz) for 4G access. To check if your handset is compatible visit telstra.com/device.

The phone supposedly supports these bands but they may be disabled?

          • @Godrunnr: Can you turn off 5g in settings and see if it makes a difference?

            • @CodeXD: I tried this and it still cycles through

        • +1

Just had a call from Motorola Support. Their engineers tested the G51 against several MVNO sim cards and replicated the problem with the Boost sim. They have identified the bug and are working on a maintenance patch.

sounds like software issue according to your post, might need to contact Motorola Support about this and see if they can replicate and fix it for G82.

    • Any update on the boost issue? @athanwa
      @Godrunnr

      • +3

        Yes, from the Whirlpool thread:

Just had a call from Motorola Support. Their engineers tested the G51 against several MVNO sim cards and replicated the problem with the Boost sim. They have identified the bug and are working on a maintenance patch.

They are going to let me know when the patch is ready, so then I will upgrade to Android 12 . The maintenance patch will be available to anyone with a G51 on Android 12.

Personally, it's working fine already for me with Boost and the latest Android 12 update. My SIM is at least 3 yrs old.

        • +1

The fix will most likely only apply to G51 models, not G82 unless someone contacts them about it.

      • +2

Ordered a new SIM from boost. If it works it's an issue with old sims, if it doesn't it's an issue with new sins

        • +3

          new sins

Repent for the end is nigh.

          /s

      • +3

Got the new SIM from boost, took 1 day. The new SIM works, no more cycling through the network continuously. Very simple process

Seems like an issue with older sims

        • +1

I Tested mine today worked fine and was getting 5g.

Glad you got it sorted too

        • Thanks mate. Based on your experience, I have ordered a new $2 SIM from Boost website. Did you use Micro Sim or Nano Sim for the new sim when using in G8? Also, once SIM is received, I assume that you would have used MNP to port the new SIM to existing number. Is this correct understanding?

Thanks heaps mate. Well done in getting this sorted.

          • +1

@athanawa: I just called support and they sent me a sim for free.

Nano SIM and just get on their online chat to have the number ported from the old sim to the new sim

          • @athanawa: Does this phone supports wifi calling on Boost?

  • Anyone try gcam APK for the camera?

    • Yeah I have. Haven't had much of a chance to play around with it yet but seems ok enough for my needs.

  • No esim correct?

  • Moto G82 or Oppo A74 ..$374 at TGG vs $349 at JB. Any thoughts? I know JB had great deal on G82 briefly as in this post…Currently this is all that is there. A74 is a good phone too, offers 2 year Warranty as opposed 1 year for G82.

    • Don't have experience with the A74 but I got an Oppo Reno 4 at the start of this year and got the G82 via this JB deal as my spare. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the G82 although I've found the Oppo seems a more snappier and less buggier phone. Things like password managers crash on my G82. The A74 being newer than the Reno 4 probably is even better. Camera, screen, speakers are better on the G82.

      • I use Bitwarden on my G82 and it's been fine the last few weeks. Can't say ive seen it crash yet.

        • +1

I use Bitwarden as well. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it's all good now.

      • What about software updates on G82? Motorola doesn't seem to have a good reputation on that front..

Also has anyone taken a Motorola phone for Warranty repairs after one year (within 2 years). They should accept as per Australian law. Share any experiences on that too..thanks

  • I missed the deal.

    • It expired 3 weeks ago.

      • I really liked moto g82, wish i was daily looking at ozbargain :)

        • How long ago did you buy? Did you get any software updates yet?
