      Unless you mean the Apple TV+ app, which is entirely different.

        Yup, the free app is limited to just your purchased items or your paid AppleTV+ subscription, you can't view anything stored locally on a server. Have to run Plex (or similar) to view locally stored content. It is do-able on the TV using both apps, but more seamless using a dedicated AppleTV.

          Yeah but a TV with Apple TV+ almost certainly can itself have Plex and Netflix as other apps alongside etc… so you would not want to be launching apps in apps anyway. I can’t see how it can be more seemless then built into the TV .. 1 remote and all that.

          • @Elijha: Absolutely, I never said you can't have Plex etc. In fact, that's the opposite of what I said. I stated quite clearly "It is do-able on the TV using both apps."

            In my Theatre we have an older Sony 75" on the wall with the AppleTV+ app. This rarely gets used. Rolling down in front of it we have a motorised projector screen, the projector is fed from an AppleTV 4K. On my home network I also have an old Mac Mini acting as a server with 8TB odd of movies and shows stored on it. This is in addition to the couple of hundred movies I have bought on AppleTV+/iTunes. When we want to choose something it is much more seamless on the Apple TV device on the projector as it is all media is there in one app whether stored or streamed, not messing around flicking between Plex and AppleTV+ on trying to decide what to watch. Plex often put the wrong metadata onto movies as well, even though it is already all there in the file that is saved on the drive. Given how little we use the TV set, not worth buying an actual AppleTV.

            Obviously if you are switching into Netflix etc, then thats a different matter. I'm only talking about people who have mixed media between locally stored and Apple purchased (iTunes/AppleTV+)

            Out in the Living room, we have a new TCL MiniLED which also has AppleTV+ built in. Although I have Plex installed on that too, again, we have a dedicated AppleTV box out there. Quicker to change inputs, have the box turn itself on automatically and have all our content in one list to scroll through, whether saved or streamed.

            Different people will have different setups that may suit them better. My TV remotes control the AppleTV as well, so the remote argument is redundant.

      You're confusing Apple TV the app for the device. WebOS also runs like a pig compared to my previous gen Apple TV. Even basic things like scrolling down Plex library lags on the CX.

    What is the best OTT box?
    I think Amazon FireStick 4k Max is the best per price(of course I bought prime day deal)

    Nvidia Shield 4k Pro and Apple TV 4k are have good specs but very expensiver than FireStick 4k Max.
    Google TV Chromecast 4k is good but still expensiver than FireStick 4k Max.

    Am I too much lean to Amazon?

      Firestick is ok but nothing beats the Shield.
      As for ATV, that's only for simps who don't sail the open seas.

    Have just moved from chromecast with Google tv to the Apple TV 4K 2022. Heaps more expensive but a superb device and Apple Arcade games on it are really good. Also have a fire tv 4K max which I will keep on another device.

  • I had ordered the 128GB before the release date but never received it though the ETA was the 4th Nov. When I called them 2 days ago they told me that they don't have any stock in Victoria and there is no ETA. While I was at the order page I noticed that the title of my ordered item too had changed to the 64GB version.

      • Yes, but look at the last 4 digits of the product code on the invoice, it would say "APTVG364GB", this is what is concerning everyone.

    Ended up getting it at JB, price matched with $10 voucher. $208, great deal.

      • I actually ordered C&C as well that was meant to be ready to be picked up today which I dont think will be ready.

        The invoice also has the 64GB, once that comes into store, I'll just go collect and return it.

        Set up the TV last night and it's sooo much more responsive compared to the Google TV albeit at more than double the price though. Shame they already corrected the error, otherwise others could have done the same at JB.

  • Invoice had the same errors as in the listing mixing the model number with the features. However, just received dispatch advice. It clearly shows as 64 GB wifi model.

      Yep. They correct the website's price and 64GB version is out of stock. Considering to return in-store today.

    If you received the 64gb one, just open it and then show your invoice you’ve received a day ago and mention to the store the wrong product received and they’ll have so many open box apple tvs

        It might be better to just reject delivery if possible if for sure it's gonna be the 64GB model, instead of having to organise the return.

        Agreed. I have absolutely no issue with them making the mistake on the listing, we are all human. I had already ordered by the time the likely error was spotted, but that they have discovered the error, corrected the listing, but not actually bothered to reach out to people who had already ordered and just make them go through the hassle of ringing them to arrange a return is absolute crap.

  • Dispatch of goods was done based on product code so we all received the 64GB version. No luck price matching at JB as well because the website now shows $248. Looks like we will have to return it and hope there’s a good sale come Black Friday.

  • As expected, I received a 64 gb model. Took it to one store and told me too bad, and to call head office if I want to contest it (to which I sat on hold for 30 minutes with no sign of speaking to anyone). Went to another store who said I should have received a 128 gb model (lol) and to contact head office.

    Have asked them online what to do - hopefully they honour it but worst comes to worst will just take the refund.

      Went to a third store this morning and ordered me a 128 gb at the $218. First store I went to the manager was a dick.

    I received the 128GB Ethernet version for my click and collect order.

    Was surprised when I opened the box and was fully ready to return it after reading all of the comments here

        • Getting it from OW instead of directly from Apple means it’s only got one year of warranty anyway? I could be wrong.

  • Just went to doncaster (vic) officeworks to pickup my order. Told them the issue and they reordered the 128gb 4K + Ethernet at no extra cost for me. Need to go and pickup again next week though.

    Store person said a few people had the same issue and did the same for them too.

    • Same thing at Ringwood (VIC). Took care of it quick, reordered the 128GB at the same price ($218) and will post it out to me.

    I was given a 64GB model but pointed out that I ordered and paid for a 128GB model as per order confirmation email & tax invoice. The lady at the front desk called the manager who came out and has ordered me a 128GB model direct replacement so I'll collect it in a few days. No questions, complaints or arguments. Receipt says 128GB model ordered and they made price adjustment to match the original order.

    Did a click and collect.

    The email that said the click and collect was ready had the 64GB version on there.

    Went to the store and the worker there asked if I wanted to open it to make sure as it was picked at the warehouse. I obliged. It was the 128GB version.

    Invoice emailed to be after and it was the 128GB version.

    Overall happy with the outcome.

    Anyone else finding that they ordered the 128GB model (of this deal), that their emailed Tax Invoice says the 128GB model, but the 'your click and collect is ready' email says 64GB ??

    • Yep, same scenario here. Went to collect and it was the 64gb, but they’ve ordered the 128gb at the same price and I’ll collect next week.

    Did click and collect. Had the 64GB in the box. Pointed out that it did not match the order. Rep went to Manager, came back and apologised 10 times. Put a new order through for the 128GB version which is ready for collection tomorrow. All good!

  • I had 64GB click and collect, they told product code you ordered is 64GB and Description is 128Gb and was not accepting people ordering based on description not product MPN and didn't accept to replace was asking for extra 30$ so I did refund.
    wasted my time for 2 visit to OW.

    Customer service is aware of this error. They are honouring it now. If you had a delivery order and received the 64GB version, you can arrange a return and reorder for the 128GB at the same price. I just did it.

      Thx OP. Get it. Even I have returned when I received it. They still honor me the price that in my invoice. Need to make a call instead of chatting online.

      • @immortanwayne thank you for posting the update. I can confirm, I was able to get a 128 GB version.
        Initially the CS on the phone said that the item code matched what was ordered. I asked her to check with someone else a manager maybe, because this a known issue. She put me on hold and checked with someone. Came back and confirmed that they are indeed swapping with 128 GB model and apologised multiple times as a staff update email was sent around and she didn't remember it. However, as there is no stocks online, and no back-order allowed, she couldn't order a 128 GB for me. She found one was available in Glen Waverley, she transferred the call. The person at the store knew about the issue. He placed the last one on hold for me. I went in with my 64 GB and picked up the 128 GB. However, I needed to pay for the new one (at $128) as the contact centre had initiated return on my order based on my call. Now, I will need to wait for the refund for few days.
