Been holding out for the deal all year

    • +12

If it only saves you once a year…

    • +3

I hope your tyres were still legal up until now, but I have a feeling they were not haha

      • They have to hold the steering wheel really hard cuz there are no grip left

      • -1

        What , that's funny ?

    • +1

My girlfriend said these deals rubber the wrong way…

      • +15

        Is jv your girlfriend?

      • +2

If she smokes afterwards, you went too fast.

      • +2

Maybe she should rotate a bit more.

    • +1

      1800 people in queue at 12:04am 😆

      • It does not show a 50% discount at checkout. Any advice?

      • There is NO one in the queue now

        • Great, so I can decide what tyres to get next Black Friday.

  • +1

    here we come

  • +2

Can we call tomorrow for a fitting on Friday 25 November, or do we have to book on Friday 25th?

    • Discount only applies to purchases made on Friday 25th November. You usually have a few weeks from that date to book in and get them fitted.

      • OK great! So on Friday week I can call up and book? Thanks for the reply too

        • +12

Is that not what bangkokbreakfast said or am I friggin stupid?

  • +1

I still have my tyres waiting to be fitted from last year's deal. I thought I'd need them by January, however, turns out, my old tyres are still good on my car at 75,000km.

    • +6

Do they allow you to postpone fitting the tyres for a year? Or they still don’t have stocks yet?

      • Following this

      • Following this too

      • Yes. I had mine fitted in April (5 months later), cause they didn't have the correct tyres in stock.

      • +2

that long of a wait seems bullshit

But i ordered my pirellis last black friday,no stock.

They fitted them in jan with no hassle or issue, even waived the brake fluid top up fee

        • +12

Brake fluid should never need topping up (unless you have a leak, which should be fixed)
As the pads wear, the fluid level will drop slightly. If you then top it up to max it will be too high when new pads are installed.

Just another reason not to trust those clowns with your car.

          • @SJDR: Worn brake pads will cause levels to drop too which you mentioned. Fail to see how topping it up is a scam. Topup and monitor if no obvious leaks

            • +2

@4agte: Isn't that exactly what I wrote? lol

              • @SJDR: Partly. But you said they weren't to be trusted but with no basis. They did it for free.

                • +2

@4agte: They should be doing it for free, they've just caused a pain in the ass for the next guy replacing pads when it overflows everywhere or has to have the excess removed.
If your car is properly serviced (ie the fluid is at max with new pads) it should never need doing.

    • +2

No, technically the terms and conditions state they need to be fitted by the end of January. I booked for it to be fitted by then, but my local mycar were so nice and accommodating. I have pre-purchased a wheel alignment with them too. They told me they would fit them when I was ready, but I had to store them at my house. However, they have since changed management, so now I'm a little worried they may not honour it.
Edit: Also, I just remembered.. I pre-purchased the wheel alignment to throw me over a $400 spend so I could get $100 cashback on my Amex at the time. Ended up being a great deal. I used them for the service and it was $300 cheaper than my car dealership. Then recently I had to use the roadside assistance for a flat car battery. Been worth every cent. I just kind of wish I could fit them on now.. But my other tyres are still good.

      • Damn man how much is your service? My toyota costs me about $215 but I still think that's too much every year.

  • +1

Dang, regretting the 30% sale at Jax last month. Doh

  • +20

if they call up and say the wheel you want isn’t in stock in warehouse, don’t fold and accept their alternative at same price, hold out my brothers and sisters!! they will try! but you should not submit!

  • +5

    Where is the Michelin deal?

    • +9

Jax had one last year for Black Friday, worked out better for me than the MyCar deal. It was only 15% off plus 100$ cash back (also a $50 service voucher I didn't use) but I think Jax regular price is cheaper and the PS4 are better than Pirelli in similar price from my research.

      • Yeh I did that last year, Michelin sale hard to come by. But worth it, such a linear wearing tyre veryyyy happy with it.

  • +5

Is there any way to double-dip with the Amex offer

    • +1

Yeah just follow the instructions on the posted Amex deal and you’ll be fine.

      • The Amex offer must be paid in-store but this Black Friday deal is online only. So how does it work?

        • +1

Book online or by telephone with mycar, between 12.01am AEDT and 11.59pm AEDT on Friday 25 November 2021

          • @easternculture: I called my local MyCar today and I was told that the Black Friday deal this year will be online only. Amex deal has been carefully worded to make sure we can't double dip but someone here may know other ways to get around it?

            • @ymmf: They probably have not recieved the full offer details

            • @ymmf: Maybe place the order on Friday and pay in stores on Saturday? I am watching as well

    • +6

No you can't. In the Amex Offer Terms it says "Excludes purchases made on Black Friday"

      • You got me :/

      • But if you get it fitted another day, it's not Black Friday then..

        • The thing is most likely those Mycar stores won’t be able to fulfil all the orders by fitting them all in one day. So I guess they will just have to take orders at 50% off on Black Friday and fulfil them another day. Hopefully they don’t insist prepaying the tyres on Black Friday otherwise we won’t be able to double dip Amex offer.

          • +1

@wtfnodeal: You actually pay when you get the tyres done in store. You "purchase" online on Friday by chosing your tyre, the store location and day/time. They will send you a quote and a booking to get it done (which you can usually change the day/time later as well). You pay when they have done the tyres in store, so as long as it is paid before the Amex deal finishes, then you can double dip (as well as possibly fly-buys - often have bonus promos)

            • @syba: I tried to go to the end of the online checkout, there was payment options that I had to choose to finalise the order. Does it not mean once I finalise my order my Amex card will be charged? Or it sits on pending until I have the tyres fitted then the pending will disappear and I will pay in store? If that is the case why did the online order ask for my credit card details or choose other payment options?

            • @syba: I came to my car nearby two days ago and already booked after chosing tyre for this Friday. However, from T and C, you need to fit from 5-17/12 thus I am not sure how it works.

    • Have they not met the minimum compliance requirements?

    • +3

Yeah they aren't designed for roads that are so bad they blow European imagination.

    • +9

What, you don't think it gets hot in Spain, rains in France, or snows in Switzerland! 🤦‍♂️

      • +2

Exactly, "built for Australian conditions" is an old Holden ad. Australian conditions are mild.

      • I was in France this year for 3 months driving and there was a day that was going to be 46. Consistently in the mid to high 30's. Generally their roads are better, but there are some that aren't too good.

Most brands have a range from sport, sticky and not durable, to durable and tough - you pays your money and you makes your choice.

        • @wfdTamar
Some of their roads are sensational. And then you come to towns like Avignon… with their cobblestone paths! 🤣

          • +1

@Snoop: Yes generally good roads and good drivers (better than here, they actually know how to merge). I never used toll roads which would presumably be the best.

    • What tyres do you use?

  • Nice . 2 cars need wheels

    • +3

But this deal is for tyres

  • +12

Careful with their car service, tried charging for a transmission oil change that was already done last service, also wanted to charge $215 for it, while Honda service was charging $170, dbl check their prices if anything needs changing, they get you with cheap service offer then try sting you with everything else, dodgy as wouldn’t go back

    • +1

I don't think my car was serviced at all by them when I took advantage the $100 off log book service. I just didn't feel any difference.

      • +2

I just didn't feel any difference.

You can feel when your car's oil has been changed?

  • +1
    • +1

But those who have signed up the Amex deal won’t get $100 credit back if buy from Bob Jane. Amex used to run deals with similar statement credit back and spendings at Bob Jane a few years ago and unsure why they don’t anymore.

      • True. Mycar + Amex (if lucky to be targeted) would be the best combo.

      • +1

Amex deal not valid on black friday

  • Is this just the Brandon Park store?

  • "On any in stock tyres" ? Last year from what I heard almost no store had tyres in stock and we all had to wait weeks.

    • +1

Could you order them online still last year? Just checked for 255/40r20 verdes and they are all 'we can order them'…. no option to buy online (I was checking process for next week)

  • +3

Errrrrrrrr … got my car fitted with Pirelli scorpion yesterday from MYCAR

    • +5

      HODL

    • Buy another set for later. peasy easy

    • Got my car fitted with Bridgestone from Bobjane yesterday too.

      • Yep also changed tyre yesterday from my car. DUNHO brand however… Arghh

        • Initially I felt, ARRGHH, think of it this way, from the comments last year, it looked like a lot will be out of stock, it could involve hours of waiting on the day, you could probably still save by ordering and getting a good price, but you may need to wait for a couple of months. I think my car tyres are quite worn out and after changing the tyre, I think the fuel efficiency increased, so the saving from fuel and the possibility of avoiding danger could still be worth it. Hope that could make you feel a bit better.

  • -2

Aww yes. My only disappointment is I don't have a car that needs tyres from this, got a set last year lol.

Bit of fighting though the website to order but they have a decent queuing system so once you get access browsing isn't that bad.

They decided to install alternative tyres without telling me which was a bit sus, but turns out they were equivalent-tier tyres that just suited my use case better (that I had described when ordering) so I'm not complaining about that.

  • The best part was you book in November and then could get installed in Jan feb .

    • Do we need to pay upfront ?

      • No pay when you install

        • That means they will apply the price when it is installed rather ?

          • @yht: You can freeze the price in offer and get quote.

  • would it be best to call now to book to make sure they have my tyres in stock?

  • Curious what are considered their performance tyres, currently running RE003 tyres and got about 30% tread left, might buy these wheels and save it for later

    • +2

      Pzero 👌

      • Looks good, unfortunately I got 16 inch rims. Might just buy a set of used 18 inch rims and put these on, leave it in the garage when ready.

    • Pzero or Dragonsport. I have the Pzeros, just under 10000km and they are just about finished

      • Me too! (But I do have 500+rwkw)
I've got the Mich Cup2 on a second set of wheels. Next level grip again!

    • PZ4’s

  • +5

Looking through their website it looks like practically every tyre is 'Limited' availability, greyed out, no option to buy.

  • +1

It's a good deal but it's not really 50% given their starting price is quite high, more like 20-25% off.

Check around for other black Friday deals, 15% plus $100 discount at Jax for Michelin worked out better for me last year.
