  • Anyone get confirmed with the staff, will the discount be applied on the $100 cards?

    • Yep, purchased 5x$100 Home this morning

Any thoughts whether or not this will work?

      • Ahhh thanks. Missed that one in the image attached to this post.

  • Wonder if they will do 15% off ultimate in 2 weeks like last year.

    • It's a risk you must be willing to take, just in case they don't do it this year.

  • +3

15% off discount also work on $100 gift card

    • Store rep said yes, but all $100 sood out at my place. Only $50 available.

    • thanks heaps

    • Where is it located? Can’t seem to find it

      • +5

In the freezers, under the carrots, behind the soft drinks etc

  • Can the teen card be used to buy PlayStation Network gift cards at jb hifi?

  • Good luck on your hunt and awkward stares while waiting for coles to open!

  • +1

Got 5 $50. Not a single $100 denomination in sight

  • Was at my Coles at 6:05am and managed to get what I needed. Tried to redeem two now but getting error in card/PIN code, guess it takes time to activate?

No $100 at my local. Only $50 that too was gone and $30. There were more than 10 people in the checkout by the time I arrived.

  • Local store only has $50 value

  • Don’t they restock these every night?

    • Depends on the store. Some hide them, others may put some out daily over the course of the promo, others just put everything out and let it become a free for all

  • Lots of greedy pest .! Robbing all while 5 card limit.!

  • Can anyone confirm if the Coles Mastercards do work? I'm guessing you can't use self serve if you want to split payment as usual for gift cards.

    • Answering my own question - Coles Mastercards do work.

I bought 5x$100 using a staffed register and just asked if I could split payment across 2 cards. No dramas.

  • Are the max value on these $100?

  • Got 10x $100 Home. There were a heaps left too. Just gotta hit up the right Coles 😉

    • 2 separate transactions?

    • seriously nobody cares, I just did mine in a self-check out, activation should be automatic

  • Can anyone confirm if these get restocked at all? Or once they're sold out they're gone?

    • Most stores would have a stash in the cabinets behind the gift cards.

  • Just curious why the Aldi 10% off GC (ultimate) more popular than this 15% off TCN?

    • Can you variable load the Aldi one?

      • Sorry, noob here what is variable load?

        • Instead of the $50 and $100 denominations, you can specify some $X amount for the gift card

          • @FFx0: So you mean for example, if I need $490 GC, I can buy one Aldi one card which has amount of $490, whereas for Coles I will have to buy 10x$50 or 5x$100?

    • +3

Aldi's GC includes Amazon which is not included in this deal.

Got to my local Coles about 7.20am. Few people loitering around the gift cards. Slim pickings though - no Teen, Kids or Home (I need for JB Hi Fi). They did have a few $100 Shop ones behind some other cards (guess someone hid them!) I asked a staff member who checked with someone else and I was told that was all there is. I was going to head home defeated but went to another local Coles. Same story at the GC display but someone mentioned to me that they were unpacking GCs at the front counter. I asked there and sure enough, they had a load all wrapped up. No $100 ones though but they had packs of $30 and $50 of most. I wouldn't say heaps though and they will sell out this morning. I grabbed 5 x $50 Kids no problem. I asked about buying more since they didn't have the $100 ones and they were great. She basically said as long as it's not her that serves me again that's fine. So I went round again, the lady behind the counter stepped aside and another staff member served me so I grabbed another 5 x $50 kids. It will be a pain redeeming them in JB but a damn good saving.
Morale of the story - be nice to the members of staff in Coles. They are getting a lot of people demanding cards today.
    Good luck!

  • Coles Petrie Terrace out of the $100 cards already (think it is only the Home ones that come in that denomination for this sale. Didn’t see any Teen or Kids in $100, but they did have $50 and $30 ones).

Was also told it’s a strict 5 person limit, and if wanted more had to be served by someone else.

  • Got 5 this morning, plenty on the shelf, but only 5 allowed

  • Is it possible to convert them into eGift card for online shopping, e.g buy shoes from Adidas etc?

  • West End Brisbane has $30 gift cards left
Can confirmed digital Coles gift cards work to pay for it via CBA credit card points

  • I did multiple transactions through the self serve. Lady just did her override. No problems at all. Got the $100 Home ones.

  • Frenzy at Coles World Square

5 or 6 people hogging the gift card section and another 5 lining up at service desk and attendant scanning gift cards

    No Home left at all

    • -3

Crazy what people will do for maximum $150 discount..

      • +1

How did you come up with $150?

        • Check his posting history. His max is under $150.

The trick is to go to quiet suburban supermarket. Preferably one that is in an affluent white neighbourhood lol

      • That’s totally true. Last year during 30x points for Apple Cards, heaps of them were still available at the Woolies at Double Bay on the weekend.

        • +2

Never go to World Square, Broadway, Chatswood and Macquarie Centre. Too much competition lol

      • I've found the opposite in Brisbane.

My parents live in a lower SES area, I live in a very mixed cultural neighbourhood (10-15km from the CBD) and my sister lives in an affluent white suburb (also 10km within CBD). My parents and I can consistently get the gift card deals while they're usually very quickly sold out at the Coles near my sister. She has to go a little further out to get the deals.

  • Also make sure you check the gift card balance on the TCN website to ensure balance is in the card. I have been burnt in the past for not checking….

    • How do you check ?

I mean if the receipt shows approved, what’s more to check before leaving the store ?

      • on the TCN website, you can check the card balance. Sometimes the cards can take a while to load funds or instant. Or sometimes not at all lol

  • -1

7am: Top Ryde, 7:20am: North Ryde, 7:45am: Macquarie Centre. Good saving, thanks ozbargain

      OzBargain master schedule…

    • What are you buying with that many gc

  • the $100 cards aren't showing up with a discount at my coles. They tried to tell me its just $30 and $50 but then got the home ones to show with the discount. Anyone successfully get $100 cards that weren't the Home variety?

    • the $100 cards aren't showing up with a discount at my coles

Mine worked fine without any dramas. Did you by any chance visit on of those coles outlets in the exlusions list? (coles express). Also check if the card matches exactly the one in picture.

      • regular Coles. I suspect that it's a glitch at the store, someone else went through with the girls ones and they were trying to get them refunded.

        • Hmm wonder how that went. Afaik gcs can't be refunded. I had some trouble on previous gc deal that cashier scanned the wrong card and it wasn't activated. Luckily when I went back the correct card was still on the shelf and they gave it to me… Nowadays I make sure the card numbers match the ones on receipt before I leave the cashier.

          • @kaleidoscope: My receipt doesn’t show any card numbers, how exactly do you check this?

            • @OCD Completionist: Hmm thats odd. For tcn mine shows the last 3 digits of the numbers in the card. For ultimate cards it was more digits than that.

              • @kaleidoscope: Oh nvm found it, is it the last 3 numbers beneath the date and time on the receipt?

I was looking for the whole numbers lol

                • @OCD Completionist:

Oh nvm found it, is it the last 3 numbers beneath the date and time on the receipt?

Yeah for TCN its the 3 digits, for ultimate gift cards its more digits than that :)

    • yep picked up 5x $100 at my coles charged $425

    • The other TCN cards that come in $100 denominations aren't included in the 15% off sale. Of the cards on sale, only Home is available in $100.

      • what about 50-500 home?

        • Where did you find a variable Home GC at Coles? I've never seen one so can't comment from experience but I guess if you have one, scan it and see if the discount applies.

By the T&Cs given I'd expect it should be included since there's no inclusion/exclusion specifying which denominations are in/out but if it doesn't scan at a discount you'd have to argue the case with a manager to apply a price override.

  • +3

A lady at my local coles purchased $500 of the wrong cards and cannot be refunded.
    Bum day for her.

    • Too much greed :D

      • Yep, didnt bother to even check when she scanned if they were on sale. Silly people with a fomo.

        • That's just nuts - You buy $500 expecting a 15% discount, surely you won't pay for them at $500?

          • @zzzman: It got my attention so fast. I was waiting for the self lady to activate my cards, when I saw her getting all flustered at the front desk. I said there is no chance they are refunding that 😂.

        • Did she kick up a huge fuss afterwards, and had to be escorted out?

    • Almost happened to me. Staff warned me, thankfully. I still haven't gotten any yet

  • On side note, a gentleman was lining up at 5am for open at 6am one of the staff members said.

    • +1

I hope his time was worth it. Or may be he's one of the folks with multiple flybuys cards waiting to empty the shelves :)

  • Just picked up 5 from Wattle Grove. Still plenty left, including a number of $100 home ones.

  • This is going to sound silly (coz I have used these cards before) but they have so many codes on the cards that I’m confused which one to use.

Does anyone know how soon they activate? It says 24hours on the card but I remember it used to be pretty quick.

  • I had a chat with JBHiFi staff online and she confirmed that only 1 TCN gift card can be used per transaction… I’m confused.

    • Looks like I’m going in five times to convert to JB hifi GC then.

    • +3

Pfft, they can go stuff themselves… Go instore and you should be cool

    • That can't be right. It doesn't say that anywhere on the card does it? I think as long as you prep the card (ie scratch off the PIN) and be nice to the JB team member (and go at a quiet time if you can, not at the weekend just before Christmas!) and you should be fine. They are going to have a LOT of these over the next few weeks, especially given the $100 seem to hard find for many folk and they are having to get extra $50 ones instead.

    • +3

I just used 5 cards to purchase the XM5 headphones at JB. Not a problem at all.

    • must be a newbie staff.. doesnt say anywhere there is a limit to how many cards can be used in one transaction

    • I think they must mean when shopping online at JB as the TCN card is entered as if it were a credit card so you can't split payments. You can definitely use multiple cards in store.

  • A guy in front of me took all $100 Home Cards. Irony is staff allowed them to buy in different transactions.

I think he took around 20.

    • Store Name/Location?

      • His location is around 2760, 2770.

    • I would seriously have considered politely reminding the staff that there's a 5 card limit after 1 or 2 transactions.

      • Staff told them to go out and come back and she continued to scan cards while customer was doing a 20Sec trip.

When I pointed out, staff stated she can't stop customer coming back. It was weird experience.

        • Bloody hell - where's a cranky checkout Nazi when you need one?

    • +1

Damn my local Coles treated me like I was there rob a bank, snarkily asking how many cards you got there…?

      • That happened to me the last time the 10% Coles PMC was on special. I shouted out "only four, which is less than the allowed limit of five!".
