For those who cannot find the cards in coles when the offer is active go to KMART they sell the same cards. Last time they got is matched with coles offer , no harm in trying.

    • Go to kmart and ask them to match this offer?

      • Yes go to them(coles) and say coles they are doing 15% off and show them the catalogue

        • Went to kmart and they don’t have any tcn card lol.

  • Can the Coles MasterCard's be used to purchase gift cards. If yes are there any exclusions

WookieMonster's FAQ answers this question for third-party TCN giftcards:

Some Coles self-service checkouts will also display an error message when attempting to pay for a third-party gift card using gift cards issued by Coles Group Ltd. Self-service checkout staff cannot or will not help you get around this issue.

At serviced checkouts, it is at staff discretion whether to allow a customer to use gift cards issued by Coles Group Ltd (other than the Coles Groceries Gift Card) as a payment method for third-party gift cards.

TLDR: Yes at staff discretion at registers. No for self-checkout

      • FYI you have quoted the FAQ written for gift cards issued by Coles Group (e.g. Coles gift cards, Coles Group & Myer gift cards).

Coles Mastercard gift cards are not issued by Coles Group, so that FAQ does not apply at all.

    • You could probably get away with doing it. Let them know you're paying via card. Don't mention its a coles mastercard. When they prepare the eftpos machine for you to tap, just tap as if it were a normal card. They may not be able to tell or realise.

      • Can Coles master gift card tap? I think it can only swipe.

That's what I'll be doing this afternoon as I work late and they will all be sold out by the time I get there tomorrow.

  • Can we purchase TCN gift cards and pay with coles gift cards ?

    • Did you try this? Did it work?

      • Yes you can use Coles Mastercards to buy these cards.

        • Thank you

  • I'm planning to get some - but haven't lined up right when the store opens. Do people typically line up? What's the culture like?

  • I went to my local coles today, the only $100 card was home but the kids has a card you can load with between $50-$500, has 50-500 on the front.
T/C does not mention any cash limit per card with the limit of 5 you can buy but the cards pictured in the deal do have $50 on them so maybe that's the only ones the deal applies to.

"Limit 5 Gift Cards per customer. Offer valid only in store at Coles Supermarkets (excludes Coles Online, Coles Express and purchases via giftcards.
com.au or coles.scanshoppay.com.au), subiect to store availability. Excludes all other TCN Gift Cards not listed above. While stocks last, no
rainchecks. Offer valid from 23/11/22 to 29/11/22. Refer to individual aift card for terms and conditions."

    • isnt it the TCN card $50-500 excluded?

    • May I ask where these are located in store?

    • Not sure about TCN. I tried Ultimate GC deal on BigW last Friday for 50-500 variable card. Discount didn't apply, store manager also scans it and said no discounts for variable load cards.

      • Only $50 card for this deal.

        • worked on my $100 Home card

    • I have not seen a variable load TCN gift card ever stocked in a brick and mortar retailer (including when I had a look at a Coles yesterday).

I think you were looking at a variable load Ultimate gift card.

Please do not mix the TCN and Ultimate gift cards up, as they are two separate gift card schemes!

  • Is this the sort of thing where people will be lining up to the store before 6am? Anyone have experiences from prior years on how to get these?

  • Are these EFTPOS only cards? Or can they be added to Apple Pay?

  • Can you do split payment at Coles self checkout for these or do you have to go to the service desk? I vaguely remember having to go to the service desk the past few times.

    I know Woolworths allows it.

  • Will scanning the Flybuys card a second time prevent me from buying a second batch you think?

    • No it won't matter, but i am very sure you don't get any flybuys points when buying gift cards.

      • +1

You earn standard Flybuys points when purchasing third-party gift cards at Coles (and Kmart), but not on gift cards issued by Coles Group.

You do not earn any Flybuys points when purchasing any gift cards at Target, Officeworks, First Choice Liquor or Liquorland.

I have no idea about Coles Express, as I never go there…

        • So are these third-party or Coles Group?

          • @OCD Completionist: Third-party.

Third-party (in the context of Coles) is any gift card that is not issued by Coles Group.

All the gift cards in this deal are not issued by Coles Group. They are actually issued by Vii on behalf of TCN.

  • If I want to buy these gift card sto buy Jb Hifi (apple) gift card, would that be possible?
My objective is to buy an Iphone.
So if I use these to buy apple gift cards at a job hi-fi store would they accept that? I would use the apple gift card from JB hi-fi to buy an iPhone from apple store.
Can someone explain, if this is possible?

    • Why dont you just buy the iphone from JB?

      • I guess Apple has superior returns (right now holiday season - extended return) compared to JBs, once open, unreturnable (unless faulty).

        • So you can just walk into a jb with say 20 cards and buy an apple gift card with it?

  • Are tcn baby gc gonna get smashed as well?

    • Usually plenty of baby left

  • Does anyone know if this works if you buy JB Hifi items online? I got a bundle deal with a personalised URL cart, and I am wondering how many gift cards will work on it. Also, how many coupons we can use?

    • +1

At the moment, the only way you can redeem a physical TCN gift card in this deal at JB Hi-Fi is in-store (I.e. you need to go to a physical JB Hi-Fi store to redeem the funds).

You could go to a physical JB Hi-Fi store and use a TCN gift card to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card, which would then enable you to use the funds at JB Hi-Fi instore or online. It is actually against TCN and JB Hi-Fi policy to do this, but if the staff member does not stop you, you should be able to get away with it, as I am not aware of JB Hi-Fi programming their instore checkout system stopping you from using TCN (or Ultimate) gift cards as a payment method for JB Hi-Fi gift cards.

Alternatively, you could wait until JB Hi-Fi is available again on the TCN gift card exchange facility, where you can exchange the balance of a TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card through the TCN website. However, that probably will not be available again for another few weeks.

You can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one transaction on the JB Hi-Fi website. However, you can only use one coupon per transaction.

      • Can you explain that last line?
Are you saying you can only use one TCN card per transaction at JB?

        • You can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one transaction on the JB Hi-Fi website.

You can redeem as many digital and physical JB Hi-Fi gift cards as you want on the JB Hi-Fi website.

Remember, TCN gift cards are not the same as JB Hi-Fi gift cards. You can currently use TCN gift cards to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards from a physical JB Hi-Fi store (as long as staff don’t stop you).

However, you can only use one coupon per transaction.

If you have multiple promotional coupons/vouchers you could use in the online transaction (e.g. spend $300 save $30, a $10 JB Hi-Fi Perks voucher), you can only use one per transaction.

TCN gift cards are not JB Hi-Fi coupons/vouchers.

      • Oh wow, when did they get rid of the online exchange facility? And why? I was banking on that working to buy 20..

  • +1

From past experience will this apply to all denomination cards or is the ad literal (ie only applies to cards shown which are all $50 ones?)

I am just wondering, If Coles does not have said gift card.
I get same gift card from WW or somewhere else without paying and pay/activate at Coles. Will this work?

    • You mean walk out WW with the gift card without paying for it. Maybe no value until activated at the checkout but good luck with that one mate, I'm not sure security will see it the same way as you…..

      • I know they are useless anyway until paid. I am saying pay for them at Coles for discount.

        • But you are still saying you would pick them up at WW and walk out the store with them without paying? Yes they may be worthless but I'm not sure WW would see it that way.

    • Lol can I steal an item from Woolworths to buy it at discount at Coles

  • noob questions:
    1) What is the max limit (value) on this card eg TCN Hiome?
    2) Can we use the TCN Home voucher/code on JB Hifi online?

    • +1

      2) Can we use the TCN Home voucher/code on JB Hifi online?

You really only have to look a few posts up to see a very complete answer to this from WookieMonster

      • Damn, so the ans is no.

        Any idea about (1) ?

        • I think the highest value cards are $100 but since you can (in theory) only buy 5 at a time they will go first.

  • Still couldn’t find an answer to this but are all TCN gift cards EFTPOS only? Can it be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay?

    • +1

All the TCN gift cards in this deal operate on the EFTPOS network.

There are some TCN gift cards that operate on the Mastercard network, but those gift cards are not part of this deal.

You cannot directly add physical retailer-specific TCN gift cards (e.g. HOME, BABY) or the Good Food gift card to a mobile wallet, but you can exchange physical Pamper or Cinema gift cards for a digital Mastercard version.

You can add the Mastercard versions of the TCN gift cards to a mobile wallet.

      • +2

Thanks for clarifying mate. This counts me out as I can't be bothered trying to argue with JB staff on buying Apple GC with these.

  • Do you think paying with both TCN and Ultimate Everyone together will work at JB Hifi? Or does it have to be the same company?

    • +1

You can use multiple different types of gift cards in one transaction, no issues. I’ve done it plenty of times.

  • Can I use TCN Kids or Teen as I am a adult?

    • Hoping this isn't a serious question!!!!

    • Yes, you can.

    • +4

The baby cards must be redeemed by babies…..

      • +2

LOL. And the Home cards by…..a house!
And if you're going to use an Active card make sure you've got your gym gear on!

  • Keen to know if I can swap TCN for Apple GC via JB Hi-fi. Looking to get an Apple Watch SE this Friday during Apple’s Black Friday sale ($80 off the watch).

So is this the procedure? I don’t want to be stuck with $450 of TCN gift cards if I can’t do this.

    1. Buy TCN GC at Coles.
    2. Buy Apple GC at JB Hi-fi with TCN.
    3. Buy Apple Watch SE at Apple Store with Apple GC.
    • Im here for your answer. Exact same thought pattern

    • Why don't you just try to get JB to price match the Apple Store?

      • Apple‘s sale is bonus $80 gift card when you purchase the Apple Watch, as opposed to a straight &80 discount. The watch itself is still sold at RRP, so JB or Officeworks can’t price-match.

    • I tried to use an ultimate home giftcard today to purchase an apple giftcard at JB and they wouldn’t allow it.

      • That’s unfortunate. Perhaps I should not risk it with TCB for that $20 of extra discount and go with the 20x Flybuys points!

        • That’s what I did. Although others have said it depends on the cashier at JB HiFi… some might allow it while others don’t

          • @El-Rhi: Did you ask them about that? I think u just tell them to pay by card, u dont need to tell them which card, otherwise they wont let you

      • A few months ago for a similar deal, I added Ultimate cards to my Apple Pay and bought Apple gift cards from various JB - The cashier can't tell if that's a gift card or a normal credit card.

        • Great idea. How do you add the physical card to Apple Pay wallet? I just tried and it said invalid card. Do you know if you can add physical TCN cards to Apple Pay?

          • @El-Rhi: I know Ultimate cards can be added easily as there is a card number, CVV and expiry.

Not sure about TCN - I asked the question in a few posts above but no one seem to know.

I checked the TCN website and there's a section on Apple Pay. But I haven't tried it myself.

            • +1

@zzzman: The TCN cards featured in this deal cannot be added to Apple Pay/Google Wallet/Samsung Pay etc. You can only use them physically in store at JB HiFi by swiping and keying a PIN.

You can risk attempting to buy Apple GCs at JB by just saying "I'm paying by card" to the register attendant and if they don't see what card you're using the JB POS system won't stop the transaction from taking place. The restriction requires the staff to care or act rather than any software/POS lockout.

              • @daanish: Cheers mate. WookieMonster said the same thing above.

Guess I’ll have to be ready for the circus that is ALDI tomorrow for the 10% off ultimate cards.

          • @El-Rhi: This sounds like it could potentially work. That said, I’m still considering whether the risk of TCN not working is worth the $20 I can save.

            https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/apple-pay

            • @UnnecessarySpendings: can one stack all TCN gift cards in apple pay to one apple pay card? say i have 5x$100 TCN gift cards, and buying $500 item at apple store, do I have to eftpos 5 times or just once if all 5 TCN cards stack up in one wallet?

      • I did it about less than a month ago without any issues. Must be the store or person you get at the checkout

  • The Ultimate Eats used to be sold at Officeworks, any one know if this is still the case?

  • 6.45pm Tuesday and all the TCN home cards from Coles World Square have disappeared already. Reckon some have already been hidden somewhere in store.

Only $30 Teen and Kids cards left. Don’t think it’s worth coming tomorrow.

Do they restock or keep them behind the service desk?

    • Or maybe the employees hid it for themselves

    • Wouldn’t surprise me to be honest. Beating other Ozbargainers is the easy part, it’s the Coles employees, that’s the hard part…

  • Cant we just go to a Coles express at midnight and purchase with discount?

    • +1

      Excludes coles express.

  • Did Temple & Webster get removed from the list of retailers?

    • Yes, it happened sometime last week.

Temple & Webster is still listed on the TCN Mum gift card, but I think that is an error.

  • Can the teen and kids gift cards be exchanged for apple gift cards at jbhifi, seen posts about it working for only the HOME gift card so unsure about the other 2.

  • So I popped out just now to check on my two local Coles the night before the offer starts.
Poor selection of cards in both with mostly $30 only of Home, Teen and Kids (ie JB Hi Fi). Person I spoke to was just putting up the signage. She said they would be restocked periodically and suggested not arriving when they open at 7 but leaving it for an hour or so. No idea whether she really knew that for a fact though.
I’ll probably try in the morning but not holding out much hope….

    • Already set up a 5:45 am alarm to be the first person in Coles but may purchase nothing.

      • Would be too late now, saw lots of $30. All $50/100 gone
