  • Can I use multiple TCN Teen and Ultimate GC at JB Hi-Fi for the same purchase?

    • Yes. No limit. Use them as money.

  • Only variable GCs for the win. Unless you're needing a small purchase I can't be stuffed dealing with $50 / $100 denominations even though the TCN website says they have variable options….Coles / Woolies don't seem to stock them

  • There was a guy trying to buy 30 $50 ones and got laughed at and denied at the checkout. Said 5 only. That checkout lady made my day XD

    • +1

There was a couple behind me that had 10-15x $100 cards each. I heard the checkout operator telling them it's a 5 card limit as I was walking away.

      • Imagine the satisfaction the elderly checkout operator gets, denying them and saying 5 only with a smirk :D

        • +1

She was like 20-something but from the tone of her voice there was definitely an element of satisfaction.

  • Did they get rid of the ability to redeem online and convert to JB gift cards? I did this just 2 months ago with the HIM card to buy the new iPhone. I bought 15 TCN cards and exchanged them all for JB gift cards on the website
I don't see an option anymore?

    • I think it got removed a while ago

      • +2

I bet the JB staff wish they'd put it back!

  • Plenty of $100 baby cards in templestowe coles, VIC.

  • +1

Man these Coles ladies manning the checkouts are vicious. Went to scan the $100 Him to see if they were on sale, and was told to not come back… Hadn’t even bought anything yet…

  • Lane Cove and Crows Nest Coles only had the $50 cards and plenty of them (no $100 Home unfortunately)

  • Anybody manage to get any Flybuy points for the gift cards. Scanned two purchases but nothing

    • +1

You got fuel vouchers instantly, which is a sign that flybuys was scanned.

Pts is never instant for flybuys.

      • You got fuel vouchers instantly

… but no glassware credits. :(

    • Usually the points take a little while to post onto Flybuys. I definitely earned Flybuys for all the Coles Mastercards that I bought back in October and comparing the receipts from then to this morning they look the same, so hoping the points come in. I do wonder if these cards would count towards the $100 spend per 1 Velocity Status credit conversion.

      • Officially they don’t. But he interesting to see

      • Purchases of any gift cards at Coles or First Choice Liquor or Liquorland used to count towards the $100 spend = 1 Velocity status credit promotion, even though it was never supposed to. However, it stopped counting towards it late last year.

Purchases of gift cards did not count for the status credits I earned last month, so I would be surprised to see them count for this month.

        • +1

Shame - I did however receive my 1275 Fluybuys for the $1500 vouchers I bought yesterday

  • plenty of $50s not much $100s at my local

  • Just used 6 cards for an Xbox at JB…. $340. Thanks you very much

  • +1

Some tosser picked up 15 of the last $100 Home giftcards. Went through self service checkout and I imagine was doing 3 transactions.

Always one person who has to ruin it with their selfishness. That bastard didn’t even have any remorse when I left empty handed.

    • where? i went to 3 different coles and had none

      • You had to go on the opening. I got there about 5 mins after the store opened and the bargainers were already onto them. I checked a few Coles and the shelves are emptied of the desirable cards.

  • +1

    Only 30s left everywhere :(

    • +1

i couldn't even get 30s anywhere. i went to 3 different coles. i had 2 more coles near me but it was already around 1pm by that point and i was like definitely none by now. went to woolworths and got the universal loadable gift card for 10%. lots of the universal loadable gift cards in woolworths. seems like everyone went for the coles deal instead

  • +1

Plenty of $100 left (more than 20) at Coles ascot QLD

  • +24

To the person who hid cards in the pet section of Coles Subiaco, you hid the wrong cards. Prepaid MasterCards are not discounted this week.

    • +2

Couldn't stop laughing after reading your comment…
Maybe they are planning for next year's Coles MC promo.

      LMAO

Got 10x$100 home from Collingwood. The are allowing 10 per customer and have plenty in stock. Used 3% off Coles gift cards from Macquarie account to purchase these.

    • Damn, can you grab me 10 (or even just 5) too and I'll swing by and see you later? I've been to 4 places since midnight and got no where :(

      • Ask the staff, they have more stock than what u see on the shelves

        • Yeah nah! Not all stores, mate.
Also, I found some staff members were extremely unhelpful when I visited during my lunch break. They thought I came by to rob them of all their GCs.

    • Whattttt, thought you couldn't use GC to buy these?

      • +1

Coles gift card worked. Not sure about other

  • Is office works included ?

  • Is there any $100 Teen sale at coles? I can only see $30 or $50.

    • Teen cards don’t come in 100

  • Woolies visa don’t work

    • Sorry the Activ online shopping don’t work

  • I can confirm I had no troubles using 5x$100 cards at JBHifi (SA) to get a 4K Disc player. Just took a while to scratch each one off but fortunately there was no one else in the queue I was holding up

    • I was told FLY buys wont be valid for the card purchase when I pulled my card out

      • +4

they always say that but then the flybuys point have never failed to turn up for me

        • giftcard purchase does not seem to trigger flybuy points promotion, I had a buy $50 for 4 weeks and get 10000 point promo on my card but it did not trigger the week 1 purchase….

          • +3

@teddybr: doesn't trigger promotions for me ever, but do get the regular points.

            • @edman: can confirm that the regular points on purchase of the gift cards purchased yesterday, posted today to flybuys account

    • Yes you can. I did it

      • How does ‘going back into the store to get your points’ actually work? I too forgot to scan my Flybuys card.

        • Go back to the service desk at the same store you purchased the gift cards from with the purchase receipt and barcode for your Flybuys card, and ask the staff member to add your Flybuys card to the receipt.

You will need to do this within seven days of the transaction date.

  • Will they restock these? Slim pickings everywhere

    • i went to 3 different coles. couldn't even find the $30 ones. gave up. didn't want to risk missing out. went to woolworths and got a loadable universal one for 10% off. lots of universal ones in woolies available. seems like everyone is going for the coles ones as both offered jbhifi.

  • +9

Probably a bit late now but I created a spreadsheet of which gift card to get depending on which stores you are interested in.

  • +2

    Ok my thoughts.
If your going to JB can you please be patient with the operators. Have your cards ready to go out of the paper pouch and pin scratched.

What took me 5 mins, took the lady next to me 30 minutes. Be mindful of others and streanline the process.

    • +1

So do we give the gift cards to the checkout person or do it ourselves? Never done this before and don’t want to annoy people as I have 20 cards to do

      • +2

You swipe and key PIN yourself.

I find the best way is to have them all in a stack, pre scratched and ready to swipe. Swipe one, dump it in my pocket and just keep cycling. That way I can't mix up used and unused or worry about where they've gone in a bag etc.
The register staff will be familiar with this so if you tell them I've got x number $100/$50 cards they'll be prepared and just keep setting up the EFTPOS terminal for you to do $100/$50 transactions.

Obviously try to go at a quieter time so that you're not holding up a register during peak trading but at least being prepared and ready to do it efficiently makes things easier for everyone.

  • Is there no limit in paying at jb with these cards. Looking at 10 x $100 cards , but will go when they first open and is quiet

    • +1

      No,

Scratch all the pin codes to make it quicker

    • +1

      No limit.

I just used 13 X 50$ physical Home GCs and 1 digital Jbhifi GC (trade-in) credit. Had all the pins scratched and ready, in all took about 5 mins.

I told the sales rep and the cashier upfront that I've got a bunch of GCs to use and the cashier asked whether the pins were scratched and ready to go. Otherwise no dramas.

  • +1

Don't you people have a job? I wonder how come you came to every coles in the morning when you have to work at 9pm

    • +4

Lucky for me that one old lady at self checkout was really helpful. There were two types of $100 HOME GCs - one in Green color and one in Gold. I picked the Green one and checked with the lady first whether these offer 15% discount. She scanned it and said no. Then she said there is a different one and pointed me to the correct one. While I was walking towards them I could hear her telling, there should $100 ones there, grab them.. :D I couldn't find $100 ones, there were only $50 ones. And this angel comes to me after getting another girl to stand near the self checkouts and grabs 5 x $100 GCs from their storage shelf behind. And she refilled the exhausted $100 one hanger too!

Assisted me in checking them out and then says - "Good deal for Xmas shopping. $75 is still $75"

And then: "If you want more, go to another Coles store or come back tomorrow to see whether they last. These fly off the shelves pretty quick."

    Wonder Woman!

Then I went to Aldi and bought a bunch of Amazon ones too :D Gift Card hunting mission accomplished. Might give it another go in the same store today evening, I think I noticed a variable load Home card in there. Need to check.

    • +4

Good on her. My local coles is mostly teenagers who are more interested in chatting each other up or cranky oldies who hate their lives.

      • The teenagers are great, they don't care what you do. The older ladies are often maybe not cranky but think their job is stopping people from buying GC when on sale.

        • +1

"The older ladies " they are old and grumpy and smelly as well. They thought they owned Coles. LOL

  • I wouldn't mind stocking up, but these days T&C change often so I would never want to hold any GCS.

Otherwise I'd be buying loads for the future.

  • with the TCN Card, can I swap it for JB HI-FI card to be used online?

JB Hi-fi online only accepts JB Gift cards (digital/physical)

This is what the online salesperson said

"Accepted payment methods through this link include debit/credit cards, PayPal and JB Gift cards (digital/physical).. excluding third party multi store gift cards which are only usable in store."

    • +1

I can only confirm The Teen cards cannot be exchanged to JB eGift cards.
