256gb ssd, FTW! if this had proper graphics i'd be all over it…

  • this is the new neo9 isnt it?

  • i saw this and wonder who may buy that?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Series-9-900X1A-11-6-LED-…

    anyway, dont ship to NSW?

    • Worth noting it is a refurbished product

      • they are different models and the one on ebay is refurbished.

  • Wondering if other stores also has this deal?

  • +3

the only thing going for this laptop is the 256gb ssd, the rest of it is nothing special.

Another would be the Samsung brand. Screen is small though.

      • +5

It's an Ultrabook. That is normal size.

  • +2

oh my god WA dont have store
really want to buy a one

  • If only it had a better processor.

    • +15

if only YOU had more money.

        • -3

          cute

It's a bad idea to mention Macbooks to a group of people looking for bargains…

    • 1 - its EOFY
2 - new line of cpu's and chipsets are coming out
3 - MACS USE THE SAME HW! all intel in the end just because its fancier looking and marketed towards apple fans/users doesnt always make it a more superior machine.. just different

      • +6

        3) isnt that his point? eg. if you bought a macbook its still worth 700 whereas if you'd bought this at 1299 its worth 450 now.
Im not a fan much of apple products but one thing I'll definitely give them is re-sale value.

        • +1

your $5 bucks now is worth a bit less tomorrow …

        • Isn't that the Hardly Normal company slogan?

    • I understand your logic… the thing that is getting you the negs is bringing apple into it.

Samsung/Sony/Asus haven't learned from Sega's downfall. They release model after model after model making their once new stock old before it has the chance to flourish.

Main downfall of this is the lack of graphics power.

    • I agree with you AllWins. Sometimes having a few negs on a comment does not really justify the answer. It's like having a like button on FB sometimes doesn't mean anything because there is no debate. Part of the reason for low resale value is because all ultrabooks on the market are Macbook Air wanna be so what's the point of buying copies when you can pay the similar amount of money for the real thing. The only way that ultrabooks can compete with Apple is to lower their prices and hence the lower resale value. Similarly, Ipad and Iphones' resale value are better than Android devices. And no, I am not an Apple fan boy because I don't currently own any Apple products (I had a Mac desktop about 20 years ago and used it as a video game console :P).

    • +1

I'd prefer to wait and pay less for a product than pay the same amount for a product reaching it's end of shelf life. This happens with virtually all consumer digital products.
i.e. New camera comes out - $1000, wait six months and it's now $600

  • Should I drive all the way from SE Melbourne to West Melbourne for this deal?!

So tempted. Only if the Clayton store has the same deal…

    • Thinking the same here. Wanna car pool ? ;-)

      joking

    • You might want to reserve one on the phone before driving there.

      • yeah of course if i am getting one.

But I am also looking at an ASUS.

        11.6" vs 13.3"

  • this is better than the HP folio 13 deal…just bought folio 13 last week :(

    • not sure about samsung's built quality but HP's quality is quite dencent.

      • +1

Build quality is excellent.would rank over HP of late.

  • +3

Amazing, 256gb SSD in a laptop under $1000.

  • +1

    Battery 6 Cell 6300mAh - 4.7 hours (DVD Play)??

But it doesn't have a dvd drive LOL.

  • -3

Compare with the samsung new 9 series which is 1099 at hn today….makes me give up getting the new 9 series. Cos price can drop from 1599 to 598.

  • I wonder if this is below cost price… So tempted but I have got my macbook air a couple days ago.

  • I think if you can hold out its probably worth waiting for a deal on the revised model. But geez a 256 ssd would cost $200+ in its own right. Incidentally the revised ivy bridge model is $988 at HN today.

    • Which HN is selling fro $988? the cheapest ivy bridge on their website for series 9 samsung is $1488?

  • i tried calling elsterwick but they do not have in stock also asked price and they had the same price as online store price ($1299) …clayton have one in stock (too far for me to travel)

  • None in Clayton, wrong stock description online. Only sunshine it seems have them on sale,IF any are left…

  • The SSD itself is worth AT LEAST around $350!

  • +4
