Finally a laptop with a 3050 below $1000, great find Wolf!

This probably has a better build quality than an ASUS TUF laptop correct?

    • +1

Lenovo are really good build quality. I was surprised when i opened my legion 5 pro, didn’t expect build quality to be that good.

      • +5

Legion is known for its high quality, I believe an Ideapad is a bit lower in that sector.

        • +1

Yes the it's night at day between the build quality of the Legion and the entry level Ideapad. Note the IdeaPad Pros are a very different in terms of build quality also to the regular one.

        • Aye. I don't have an ideapad, but would also place it at a lower tier.

          • -1

@tebbybabes: I dont have an "Idea" pad but would also place it at a lower tier.

  • I'm tossing up between this post and Asus TUF Gaming A15

    • +3

If you want a laptop with decent battery life for productivity in addition to gaming, the Tuf is a better option. The Ryzen CPU on the Tuf is also much better, in terms of multicore performance, than the i5 in this laptop.

    • TUF is worth the extra $50 imo

      • +1

Also with JB Giftcards you may not even be paying $50 more

    • +1

pretty sure that is the model with the heat issues, it's worth researching before going with the TUF.

    • +1

      That TUF is sold out

    • I grabbed the Asus when I saw it the other day. Seems decent build quality and that 4800u will run rings around the i5. Just need to find a good case for it now

  • still showing as 1099 goodgys and goodguys ebay -can you clicjk and collect if u buy on ebay goodguys?

    • Did u add the coupun?

  • Does it have display port for an external monitor to take advantage of a larger 144hz monitor?

    • I believe only HDMI, reading from the specs.

  • +1

There's never a perfect gaming laptop for 1k

Easier to find than a fast CPU with 32gb ram tho!

  • +1

How heavy is this one? Can't open the description section

  • Does this support 2 display?

  • -1

well my thinkpad 3 yrs old -new USBC Powr connectore early this year ,and a few weeks ago a new keyboard- total cost $600 shite - should bought a new laptop doing now, going asus - but its hard to find a laptop thesedays with 512 GB SSD and a 1TB HDD or at least a HDD/sata connector - and lets face it Lenovo are NOT transparent about actual specifications

    • +2

I think you need to check and replace your keyboard again:)

  • Reckon this would be good for the mrs who uses autocad/archicad?

    • It would work, but for that kind of work I would be aiming for an 8 core CPU and a 2K screen. Something like the Legion 5 Pro 16 inch.

  • +1

is it possible to add another m2 ssd to this?

  • "Idepad Gaming 3i performs so much worse than the Ideapad 5 Pro, considering they have the same GPU but the former has a TGP of 90W and the latter only 55W. In the gaming tests, the Ideapad 5 Pro is easily 20%-30% faster."

Came across the above comment regarding this laptop.
Apparenttly its due to the memory module installed, being 1Rx16 and not 1Rx8.

They did an analysis of the i5-11300H in this laptop and the 2 types of memory modules here:
    https://laptopmedia.com/highlights/the-bottleneck-effect-up-…

    • The video that Grey13 linked above shows that 3i has a 1Rx8 installed. Video is American, so we may get the 1Rx16.
In that case just upgrade the RAM & it will be faster than the comment you mention above, being that the 3i has the 90W GPU.

      • Exactly

  • Does this laptop support 3 monitors (so 4 in total including laptop screen)? Are there any laptop that does this lol

  • What CPU is it? I can only find "i5 11th gen"

    • +1

      Intel Core i5-11300H processor (3.1 - 4.4Ghz)

      • +1

I looked up the model just now and found it. Thanks for the help :)
