Apple & Apple Education Store: 10% Cashback (Exclusions Apply, Capped at $100) @ Cashrewards

3280

This is what we've all been waiting for

Have you seen the Cashrewards Black Friday cashback increase banner everywhere? Seen the Apple logo on it and wondered when it will happen and how much the cashback will be?

Well, I reached out to TA (tightarse) last week to enquire about the upcoming upsized cashback for Apple since everyone was asking for it in relation to Apple's annual Black Friday sales (Apple Shopping Event) and he was more than happy to provide some details:

Upsized cashback rate: 10% (excl. GST)

During the 24 hour promo, cashback for Apple is capped at $100 in total per member account, irrespective of the number of transactions made. Valid 12am to 11:59pm AEDT 25/11/2022.

Best to use the Cashrewards app for the highest chance of tracking!

TA has confirmed that all cashback eligible products sold as part of the Apple Shopping Event will be applicable/eligible for the 10% upsized cashback offer, despite having a promotional bonus gift card bundled with the item.

However, cashback will still be ineligible if you purchase a standalone gift card (as always), so don't buy a standalone gift card.

Stack this upsized cashback deal with the Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen $399 + Bonus $80 Apple Gift Card deal for an even bigger saving on the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, especially if using discounted gift cards to pay (yes - you can use gift cards to pay) - this is probably the best deal ever for the 2nd Gen

    • Cashback is affiliated with Cashrewards exclusively, doubt JB will match it

      • For example get Apple to price match jb price on iPad 9th gen which is a $50 discount (rather than a $40 gift card) + Cashback + discounted gift cards

        • Rep advised price matching invalidates Cashback :(

  • Does anyone have experience getting cash rewards when shopping through the Apple Store app on iPhone? Safari directs the app to open and complete purchase - will that purchase track, or do I need to remove that app temporarily?

    • +1

Do not use the Apple Store app on your iPhone! It will not track. Using the Cashrewards site through the link in this deal ensures it fully tracks as tracking is far superior and it does not redirect to any other link except Apple.

But as TA always says: Best to use the Cashrewards app for the highest chance of tracking!

      • +1

        Appreciated!

  • Last year they had 8% cashback uncapped on Cyber Monday. Worth waiting or best to pull the trigger tomorrow?

    • Actually apparently the Cyber Monday deal last year was 5% uncapped so perhaps will pull the trigger tomorrow…

      • Bigger cashbacks > 5% will always be capped. Has always been the case historically.

  • +1

Guess I’m getting the Apple Pencil 2 tomorrow!

10% off ultimate home card from Aldi
Converted to Apple GC at JB
$40 gift card for $219 Apple Pencil.

10% Cashrewards on $179 (or is it $219)?

And I assume this has to be done in the Cashrewards app or the Apple website (and not Apple Store app)?

    • Correct, do not use the Apple Store app as it will not track! Best to use the Cashrewards app for the highest chance of tracking!

We’ll know soon enough. My gut feel is it will track the full amount, but with Apple, anything can happen.

    • Exactly what I wish to do.
How do I convert the Ultimate card at JB? Walk in and ask for a swap??
      TIA

      • +1

Buy Apple gift cards at JB and tell them you want to use card.

Swipe ultimate GC and choose credit and enter PIN on card.

        • Or add the card to Apple/Google Wallet and tap (more discreet, and some JB stores are dogs who don’t allow you to use these gift cards to buy another gift card)

          • @I Smell Pennies: I'm not sure if you can add the TCN cards to Apple wallet. Either way they'd get too suspicious if you start scanning multiple cards…

Have a look at the TCN thread - first JB flat out refused to convert the GCs but 2nd one was more than willing

        • Thanks mate. And does it matter if this is the Ultimate Home/His/Teen etc. ?

  • So basically anything worth buying is ineligible for cash back. What an absolute crock.

  • +3

AOC = Apple On Campus, for those playing at home. It's for uni students

  • Refurbished covered?

  • +2

I just want a base model Mac Air for my son starting year 7 in Jan, confused about where the best deal is/might be as need to save the most $$$. Can someone give me a heads up on where to find/watch the cheapest deal today, tomorrow etc as not very savvy on all of this. Thanks in advance.

    • +6

Okay.. let's have a look at the deals currently available, assuming that you're after the base model MB Air M1 for your son (RRP is $1,499):

      1. Education Store: $1,349 + $100 cashback. Discount = 16.7%

      2. Apple BF Sale: $1,499 + $240 GC + $100 cashback. Discount = 22.6% (assuming you were going to buy $240 worth of stuff from Apple anyway)

      3. Amazon / Officeworks: $1,297. Discount = 13.5% + any additional savings from discounted GCs

Now if you're travelling overseas in the next 60 days and claim the GST back through the TRS, that will automatically gain you entry into the OzBargain Elite Members Club!

      • Even if you sell off the Apple Gift Card at 10% off, The Black Friday deal is more worth it

      • So Education Union not covered by cashrewards?

      • Excellent, thankyou for taking the time.

      • I purchased from officeworks for $1,134.65 with Amazon price match and 5% price beat. Thanks for your help.

    • Same. I'm going in store tomorrow morning and seeing whether they will pricematch JB and still issue the $240 gift card.

      • I think someone called up an Apple rep and asked this (it’s in another thread with the Apple GC offer) and said it was either, i.e. price match or GC, not both. But still worth a try in store

        • That's what I'm thinking but hoping for the best.

          • @unity1: Have you tried yet?

            • +1

@sfac: From apple rep "As of the moment price match is not eligible for the Shopping event promotion. Giftcard is only for normal RRP"

            • +1

@sfac: Yes, sorry I made comment somewhere else. No go, can’t combine price match and gift card promotion.

  • Dumb question but how long is Apples return window? Is it 14 days?

I've been wanting a new laptop and don't know if I will like the M1 air. Can I try for a while and return if me no likey or does it have to be unopened?

Planning on getting through edu store if possible…

    • You may have till 3rd Jan to return products due to extended holiday returns.

    • 14 days for iPhones, January for all others

      • It's until January for iPhones too. I purchased a 14 last week and it's on the receipt

  • Can we expect to see any other promotions from Apple other than the giftcard?

    • its been that way for a while. I dont see why that’s a problem? Their credit can be used for both hardware, media and services.

  • Is the Apple store website still down for anyone or is it just me?

  • +1

Can’t wait till midnight to order Air Pods Pro Gen 2

  • title says Apple & Apple Edu store - Does this mean even non-students gets this cashback?

  • +1

If you buy an eligible product (Airpods Pro 2) and also an illegible product (Iphone 14 pro) in the same transaction, do you still receive cashback for the eligible product. Or is better doing it as two separate transactions.

    • +2

Probably best to do it separately tbh. Plus you can then use the bonus gift card from the airpods on the iphone and get that out of the way

      • Thanks, even better, For some reason, didn't even think about using the gc in that way

    • If you have an ineligible item, I believe the entire cashback is void

  • +1

Well, it’s up. Good luck and happy shop..Oz-bargaining :)

    • Interesting that it still says "The Apple Shopping Event is coming… Get an early look"

      • Refreshed the page a couple of times and it’s ok now. Am ordering my M2 MB Air and it shows the $240 GC.

        • Yup… took about 10-minutes for the Promo to show up in cart

        • Am I missing something Shuey?

Price is 1,749 so with 100 CB, it's still not the cheapest I have seen an M2 Air.

Maybe I am just being greedy but wanted to sanity check…

          • +1

            @Jasonofoz: $1,899 - $100 CB - $240 GC - $200 (Flybuys/Coles 20X points) = $1,359

Potentially a bit less for TRS as I’m travelling at the end of the year

            • @Shuey: Sanity checking here…as I'm getting this for son's school next year…

              $1,749 - $100 CB - $240 GC - = $1,409

I'm on the apple education site via Cash rewards app and just at checkout.

So I have to pay full 1,749 upfront, correct?

Unfortunately I don't have any other GCs or Flybuy deals.

              • +1

@Jasonofoz: Yes, you would pay the full amount upfront i.e. $1,749. The 100 CB will take a bit of time, 2-7 days. $240 GC will be emailed to you once they have processed the order. Hopefully you have something else you could buy with it.

              • @Jasonofoz: Btw, I just realised you were were buying from the Education site.. at the check out, did yo Lu see the $240 GC being mentioned there? If so then that’s okay, if it isn’t stated then that would mean the purchase will not be eligible for the GC. I bought mine from the normal Apple Store and before check-out it does show the GC as a “Special Offer” which will be emailed to me once order is processed/ship.

If not, best to cancel and do the normal Apple Store way. A bit less but still you get to offset with the GC

          • +1

@Jasonofoz: You need to factor in gift card that you receive as part of the "discount". If that card is no use to you then this deal won't be that great compared to others.

            • @zootv: Yep, I do have another device to buy so the GC would come in handy. Every bit helps, I guess

          • @Jasonofoz: I don’t think the educational store is eligible for gc.

  • Would I be able to stack Apple's Annual Shopping Event alongside the Education store and Cash rewards all together?

    • I know Apple's Shopping Event and Cashrewards are eligible for stacking, just not sure if education store purchase would be eligible for the gift card received for the Black Friday Event

      • Education store cannot be stacked with the Apple's Annual Shopping Event I believe

        • That's correct. Apple's Annual Shopping Event uses full priced items. Education store will not give the promotional bonus GC

  • anyone see the 10% cash back deal?

  • Apple's whole discount the product and charge for the gift card is a real bummer when it comes to tax/gst claims…

    • So if you buy $3k 14 inch Macbook pro and get a $400 GC, the invoice will show $2.6k for the Macbook pro and $400 for the GC?

      • According to what others have said on OzB, and Apple's T&Cs for the promo - yes, I think so.
"Qualifying purchases can receive a discount equal to the value of the eligible Apple Gift Card off the price of the eligible product and will be charged for all items at check-out, including the Apple Gift Card."

        • +1

Hmm then it should be cheaper to forgo the $400 GC and stick with AOC

        • Oh so does that mean we get the gift card right away via email or does this gift card come in at a later time via email or delivered physically with your purchased product? I assume the gift card is not locked to your account and can be gifted if we receive this digitally?

          • +1

@kunfushun: I got the gift card via email 40 mins after the order went through Apple.

            • @zzzman: What did you get? I think mines taking a while cos I got it engraved air pod

              • @RichieVn: I got the Apple Pencil 2

Did you buy through the Apple website or Cashrewards app?

                • @zzzman: Apple website and activated cash rewards on. It before purchase

  • Ineligible for purchases via trade-in is a bummer though. It used to be eligible at least 2 years ago when I got one.

  • +1

One AirPods Pro for me, and an AirPods 3rd gen each for my parents.
Really wanted the MagSafe version for the 3rd gen AirPods, but only lightning case is included. Boo.

Still, discounted Apple ID balance from TCN vouchers, plus bonus gift cards plus Cashrewards - nice savings.

Shame the new apple TV isn’t included this year. A $70 discount on the new model would have been sweet.

  • No email from Cashrewards after waiting 15mins.

    • It comes after a day or a few days, give it some time. Apple can take up to 7 days from memory

    • Cashback tracks to member accounts between 2-7 days after you receive confirmation from Apple that the product has been shipped.

    • Got cashrewards email for 37 dollar buying Airpods pro 2 , thank u all.

  • anyone have any luck checking out with gift cards? I have enough for the full balance but at checkout, "review your order" glitches on multiple browsers/devices

    • There seems to be a limit of up to 8GC. Mine are in $200 denomination, so couldn’t pay the full amount but that’s okay.. have other things to buy, so will split the usage

  • Additionally, products purchased from Apple's Education Store must be for personal, education, or research use.

Just reading the second last point. How do they know its for these purposes?

  • +1

Ineligible for cashback (updated 21/11/22)…iPhone 14 Pro

Was just about to shoot myself with the $2 Nerf gun I bought today.

  • Order placed and confirmation email received but need to wait for actual invoice to see/calculate my cashback.
    Personalised AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
    A$ 399.00 Qty 1
    Savings - A$ 80.00

    • My strong gut feeling is that cashback will track based on full price less GST, but with Apple, who knows… we'll have to wait and see

    • How did you get $80 saving? I know you cannot claim the $80 Apple gift card at the time of purchase.

      • It charged me full $399, its just a way of representation from Apple, saying you saved $80 in this purchase. $80 Gift card will be sent once item is processed.
        Subtotal A$ 399.00
        Free Shipping A$ 0.00
        Order Total A$ 399.00
Total savings A$ 80.00 (this will be sent as gift card)

        • Ah not exactly though. You still paid $399 for the APP2, you just have $80 store credit to spend on something else later.

          • @edfoo: yes true, after all its Apple - even in a simple confirmation email they know what/how to write/represent :P
