Xbox Series X Console $749 Delivered @ Microsoft

1150

Xbox Series X is back in stock on the Microsoft website. However they are forcing an accessory purchase to go with the purchase. I have found a work around so that the console is obtainable for $749 delivered without any accessory purchase through this link

Is this a workaround to buy the console at full RRP?

  • +6

    Here we go again 😅

  • +20

For those of you with Amex cards check if you've got the $150 off with $500 spend promo, just picked up a Series X for $600 effectively, great Christmas present for the brother.

Thanks OP for posting, would've missed it otherwise.

    • +4

can it be used with gift card as well, like 250 gift card and 500 amex, I have this promo

      • I'm thinking that given the issues reported lower down in the comments here (with the MS store failing to use redeemed gift card credit), it may be safest to use the Amex deal to buy $500 worth of gift cards, which according to the original post regarding the Amex deal is valid. After that, separately buy $250 worth of Shopback (or wherever) gift cards, then after making sure all credit cards are unlinked from your Microsoft account (to prevent the problem of them charging it instead of your account credit), put the entire purchase on gift cards?

        • Can anyone comment if this method will work!! If I buy 500 worth Microsoft gift card from Microsoft with Amex will it activate the amex credit?? I can purchase the remaining 250gift card from shopback and put it all 749 on gift card balance.

Sorry noob here trying to see what is the best and cheapest way to redeem this offer.

          • @Tokz666: Theoretically - yes.

But others have reported problems applying the gift cards credit for the Xbox purchase.

So you could end up with $750 worth of gift cards.

You would then need to contact Microsoft to help you to apply the credit to the order.

There’s a 6% Cashback from ShopBack atm - so if you end up needing to ask Microsoft to step in to help you apply the credit you could potentially miss out on the 6% Cashback (which is worth more than $25)

Another issue is with refunds. If for whatever reason you decide not to keep the Xbox and return it for a refund then you get refunded as gift cards rather than refunded to your AMEX if you were to purchase the Xbox directly on AMEX (if you choose to go the gift card route)

            • @proudwanderer: I thought the max cashback on xbox series x was 1.5% or maybe i am reading/understanding it wrong!!!

              • @Tokz666: I think they are doing an “upsized Cashback” atm - check to make sure.

              • @Tokz666: Also - do you have “extended warranty” on your Amex? That could be an issue too if you go the “gift card” route

                • @proudwanderer: Leaning more towards the direct Amex route just to safeguard myself!!! Really appreciate the tips 🙏

I have tried posting on shopback fb page regarding cashback lets see what their response is. Have to try my best to squeeze the best deal applicable to become an ozbargainer!!

                  • @Tokz666: Try the app - it’s showing up as 6% for Xbox

                    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/635/100290/68348ffe-3d…

…..unless I’m getting a higher rate for whatever reason

                    • @proudwanderer: They fixed it to 1.3%!!!

However i pulled the trigger and bought it.

Now just want to know if i can start the gold to game pass hack now or wait till i recived the console??

Apologies for asking too many questions!! Just dont want to mess anything up!

                      • @Tokz666: I signed up for Turkish GPU on pc months before I had an xbox, no need to wait until you receive it, having said that mine was delivered in <24hrs by Microsoft so you should have yours by end of the weekend anyways.

                        • @Arealtur Kishman 69: Seems like i messed up somehow!!! Got the 2 × 12 turkey gold.

The first one was redeemed correctly, the second one showed redeemed correctly as well but it did not stack. Now i cant find it in the order history and also when i try to use the code again it says already redeemed!

Anyone have any experience and can help?

    • I am still interested in why I dont have this offer. Which Amex card do you have?

      • The Qantas American Express Discovery Card, $0 p.a fee

    • +1

I would have missed this AMEX deal if not for this post. Legend!

    • -1

good luck buying anything on the microsoft store with an amex card. it errors out no matter what you buy, even if you try different amex cards.

      • +1

worked fine for me from first attempt

        • didn't work on my account, even created different account under wife's name, still no go. chat/call are investigating and will get back to me

          • @FeZZa21: msft for you! 🤷

            • -1

@shabaka: they really are pathetic for a software company lol

              • -1

@FeZZa21: lol I work there now! but it changes nothing, youre right 😂

      • It took me 5 goes and 2 browsers but eventually the AMEX card worked. The Microsoft Chat didn't though - buggy as hell!

        • did you get the payment error thingo? "something went wrong on our end" with a long alphanumeric code?

            • @Bones78: no luck with my 5 cards and 3 ms accounts, even tried with a mastercard, same issue

      • +1

Worked just fine for me, have previously ordered one for myself with the $100 off $500 spend deal and had no issues there either.

      • Done it plenty of times and it hasn't failed once for me with Amex.

        • Just tried this morning and theyve fixed whatever was broken

          • @FeZZa21: Oh nice. Good to see them being proactive.

            • @SimAus007: Took them 2 days though, but yeah glad they fixed their broken store

              • @FeZZa21: They called and said issue was they had deactivated my account due to unusual activity, which doesn't make sense as I tried creating another account as well as using my wife's when it didn't work the first time.

    • +2

Same here! What a great deal :)

    • +7

      Hello @Arealtur Kishman 69,

It is me, your brother. Thank you for the xbox, unfortunately I won't be able to make the family Christmas this year as I have moved to the mines. Please DM me for the address you can send the xbox to.

      Humbly,
      Your Brother.

      • +2

Hi brother. Last you spoke to me you were on an offshore oil rig? Please contact the family more regularly. Mum is worried about you. She doesn't know where to send the apple gift cards this year.

    • +1

yup did that as soon as AmEx deal got posted. Xbox X for $599 is as good as it gets

    • I have it on 2 cards, happy to buy for someone else if you're trustworthy :p

  • +2

Xbox is raising the price for first-party titles starting next year.

It's only a matter of time their hardware will increase in price too, so I reckon it's a deal to grab this now before it's like the PS5.

  • OP
The issue is T&C under Amex offer specifically say the purchase has to go through Microsoft.com au website. The work around is through xbox.com, can I ask did you get an email saying you have used the AMEX offer after your purchase? You should received the email pretty much within couple of mins after you complete the order

    • +7

Go back to Microsoft dot com and it will be in your cart there.

      • +2

Just tried and as long as you're signed in with the same account on both, it's showing in the cart on microsoft.com.au too after adding from xbox.com

  • +3

    I have Xbox gold ultimate.
Play games on PC, should I buy Xbox?

    • +3

Only if it would run them better than your PC, or you'd like to be able to play them on the TV and your PC is set up elsewhere.

    • +2

I played games on my Legion 5i Pro laptop 12700H and 3070 Ti

Same games on Xbox X look just as good, but I don't have to listen to helicopter noise of laptop fans, and can sit comfortably on the floor in front of a big TV.

in my books it's an upgrade from laptop gaming

    • +1

This is my exact issue. Games pass on pc (rtx3080) means the xsx is actually not useful unless you want a 4k player too. There's really nothing on console that isn't on pc (nothing of note). But $600 is a bargain.

      • +4

If you've got a semi-decent / large TV I definitely think it's worth it… plus if you decide in a few months you're not using it enough, resale value is pretty damn good (especially if you keep boxes etc)

        • But I can connect display and TV together.

      • Same, I have 2080ti,I think it's enough for 4k, but $600 is very attractive.

      • +1

If you have gamer friends over it's nice to sit in front of the tv and play FIFA, cod campaign couch co op etc.

  • +3

Be very careful with ordering if using account credit. I did this and when the order was placed the confirmation showed to use account balance then rest from credit card.
However, the system charged the full amount to my credit card and took $0 from my credit on account, I had over $600 in credit.

Having a total battle with MS getting in touch with anyone that knows what they are doing to sort it out. 5 web chats and 1 phone call later and still no success. Everyone I speak to is totally clueless and unable to fix it and I keep getting referred to a different person/team.

    • +1

microsoft store is the absolute worst digital store on the web, and they're supposed to be a software company. they desperately need help from google and amazon on how to create a functioning web store.

    • Same happened to me. I ended up having to return the item (at their cost). Then purchased additional credit and removed my card as a payment method, it went through fine.

      • +1

That's what I'm thinking as an option. So did you accept the delivery then into order history to organise return, send the unit back and wait for refund to occur?

      • Did your return go via a company called Quantum Solutions at all? Just wanting to make sure it's not a scam as the return email came into my SPAM folder.

    • +1

I had a similar problem. They handled it by telling me to send it back and get a refund so I refused delivery and it was returned. The refund clears when they receive back. I had to reorder the same items which I did before waiting for refund

  • +1

Thanks been trying to get this without the accessories…much appreciated

  • +1

FYI - if you have access to Rewards Gateway then you also qualify for a straight 10% MS/Xbox gift cards. Although, the comment above from start3r is a bit concerning.

  • +1

Just got the bundled 2 days ago :(….. Should have waited

    • same here, bought the bundled 1 day before this post…. :(

oh well, anyone after a brand new sealed Xbox wireless controller in white pls PM…

  • +3

$587.76 with amex and CR. Thanks op!

    • Did you get notification from Amex? I think mine went through the xbox store… haven't had any notication from amex yet…

[EDIT] Actually it MUST have gone through the microsoft store… xbox is blocked on the corp network… odd I haven't received notification yet, though didn't get one for Sony yet either and bought that this morning :D

      • +1

sometimes notifications don't come straight away, I've had the credit come through before any notifications

      • +1

I didn't get the notification but I didn't with my Sony purchases over a week ago either. I called amex the next day (for Sony) and they told me they could see it tho.

        • I didn't get a notification from sony either but credit hit my account 2 days later

      • Received notification from Amex today, around 24hrs after I placed order.

    • How? The offer is valid only for the Microsoft store, and that one shows $840.

      • +2

Add the "package" and then after you click on the Xbox Series X and it asks you to select what addition you want for the package, just abandon and go directly to your cart in the top right hand corner.

All you'll see if the Xobx in your cart for $749

        • So you don’t even need to use the Xbox store link in OP you mean?

    • -6

dafuq is CR? it's a bad thing to do to make your own abbreviation like that because no one is going to know what you mean

      • CR is cashrewards..

      • +1

You must be the only person on OzBargain who doesn't know what CR means … And you have been here since 2013.

        It's Cashrewards.

    • on CR site : >>>> Xbox Consoles & Accessories (excluding Xbox Series X)

  • +1

Just had my order canceled, anyone else?

edit: they don't deliver to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers.

    • +3

Always put the normal address first than login to AustPost app and change it to Parcel Locker once it's on its way.

  • +1

Anyone have issues paying with gift cards?

    • I think you need the entire amount on gift cards else it defaults to a credit card. I decided to go with Amazon as already had 10% off 500 dollar GC and they are delivering this tomorrow.

      • I have full amount in there $750 got this error.

We couldn't get authorisation for this purchase. Pick another way to pay, or contact your payment provider.

        PUR-ProcessorDeclined

        • Try removing your credit card (if any) or Microsoft support (though if you read the above comments they're not too gr8)

          • @patadi: Was on the call with them and removed the card.. but they managed to put the order through using the credit… probbaly missed out on $10 odd of cashback. At least used my Amex to get those gift cards :)

            • @lilkid28: Did getting 500 worth of gift cards using amex trigger the amex cashback for you? Just planning to get 500GC using amex on microsoft store and then layer adding 250GC using shopback for 10% less!!!

              Thanks

  • Already got ps5, do I need this console?
Are there any games exclusive to Xbox?

    • +2

just the usual flogged to death ones like halo/forza/gears if you're into those. Finished God of War Ragnarok on the weekend, easily game of the year!

    • +1

I have a PS5 & XSX, PS5 great for exclusives, XSX is great with Turkish Game Pass Ultimate deal. Games like High on Life, Scorn etc available day one

  • Can you explain the workaround, link not working for me.

  • Still running the original PS4 got it in 2014!!!!

I feel like its time to upgrade. Never owned an Xbox.

I have both the Amex offer for sony and Microsoft!! Sony seems to be selling the GOW bundle and not standalone consoles.

With Xbox if i follow this i can get hust the console for a bit cheaper.

Anyone who owns both can help recommend suggest if i should shift to Xbox or wait out a better deal on PS5??

    • +1

I own both. I prefer the Xbox. But honestly there's reason to own both IMO. No regrets for either console. I doubt you would regret either decision.

But Xbox is cheaper initially. Has game pass which can eliminate the need to buy many/any games and make waiting for specials easier on games you must purchase.

Potentially going to have most Zenimax and Activision titles as console exclusives and free to play on game pass day one. If that deal for Activision gets approved and their whole catalogue Is available on game pass the already incredible value would be ridiculous.

Especially if you use the VPN workarounds to grab a couple of years of Brazil/Turkey Xbox live Gold for $40ish a year. Then convert it to game pass ultimate for $1.

    • +1

I own a PS5 since launch and unless you really want to try some of its exclusives, I'd say go Xbox. Game Pass (the number of great games I've found using Game Pass on PC I wouldn't have found otherwise is astounding), better UI, quick resume, backwards compatibility are reasons why I'd go Xbox instead if I had the chance.

Both great consoles of course, can't go wrong with either, Xbox just slightly edges out for me.

      • Thats great to hear!!! As i cant seem to find any deals on PS5. Also Sony stores just sell them as a bundle which doesnt help.

But isnt the Game Pass expensive. I only generally get in a 4-5hours of gamplay each week so not a heavy gamer.

Xbox to me would be totally different world id be dipping my toes in. But with this hsck and the amex cashback $600 seems like a good price i guess!

        • Game pass is $15.95 per month

Though you can buy get it cheaper by purchasing Xbox Live Gold. Stacking 2 or 3 years of it and converting it to Game Pass Ultimate by paying for 1 month. The first month costs $1 the first time IIRC.

Doing it legit with Australian Xbox Live Gold would cost $80 per year plus $1.

I just did it using turkey VPN. Cost $97 for 2 years. Plus $15.95 for 1 month of GPU to convert it all. I dont get the $1 deal as ive used it before.

$110ish all up for 25 months

          • @mxlegend99: $110 for 25 months seems like a good deal. How do you use the vpn? I am not much of a computer whiz … is it hard to do it your way? Or would it be better getting the 12months gold from jb for $80.

            • @Tokz666: Sorry I'm too lazy to link one, but there are easy step by step guides online, even on this site, that can walk you through the whole process.

In regard to the price of Game Pass, I can easily justify it for myself as I already save $80-100 for each AAA title that gets added to it that I would've otherwise paid $80-100 for. 2-3 of those games and its already paid for itself. Just depends on how many games you'd play.

            • @Tokz666: Here's a guide on how to do it:

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654519

The prices / keys in that link might be expired. I grabbed my Xbox LIVE Gold keys from eneba. Here's a link for 12 months from Turkey for ~$47.

              https://www.eneba.com/xbox-xbox-live-gold-12-months-xbox-liv…

They hit you with a processing fee. Hence when I paid the other day ~$94 actually cost me ~$97. But still that was for 2 years which is a lot cheaper than paying $160 buying the Australian one. Although I would happily stack a few years even at $80 and convert to $1 if that was my only option. The value is fantastic. I like to stack it just incase they bump the price.
