    is this a nationwide deal?

  • Just rang varsity lakes and they said they don't stock them

Because its milk based it has a use by date so it may be getting close to it and be store specific. or you might find other stores with the same batch getting rid of their own as well. this time of year its probably the left over xmas stock. but then maybe im totally wrong.

For anyone new to the thread, some quick updates from lower down:
      - Best before date has been found to be Feb 2013 on one pack; check with your store before you purchase
      - It's been reported that Liquorland has these packs on sale for $5 from time to time
      - Someone was told that these are from a Mother's Day promotion
      - You can ring ahead to check stock levels in your local stores and maybe put them on hold for you

Curses :) Another deal I have to buy because it is too damned cheap! This works out at about half-price.

Bought the last 9 at Moonee Ponds Vic. Went to Flemington to buy more and almost took the last 20 boxes on display, only to see about 20 cartons underneath. So I picked up another carton of 20.

Re the use-by date, it has a best-before date, if you subscribe to that sort of thing. From their website:

    Baileys shelf life

Baileys is the only cream liqueur that guarantees its taste for 2 years from the day it was made, opened or unopened, stored in the fridge or not when stored away from direct sunlight at a temperature range of 0-25 degrees centigrade.

One of the keys to achieving this 2 year shelf-life is in our patented process of blending of fresh Irish cream with the spirits and the whiskey without the use of preservatives. The alcohol acts as a natural preservative for the product.

Under normal conditions of storage Baileys has a shelf-life of 30 months.

According to the bottles I examined (and on the carton), date of manufacture = 08/2011 and best before = 02/2013.

    • So.. did you take 20/40 at Flemington, or the whole 40? I'm hoping there's some left…

      • +2

There were about 20 cartons, each containing 20 packs of 4 bottles. I took one carton ($100). Plenty left I think.

        • Aaaah righto, my bad. Cheers!

Wow that's a lot of bottles. I would have done the same :)

  • Picked some up at my local … thanks

  • All sold out at my local. The guy behind the counter said they were a Mothers Day promotion they were getting rid of for $5. Cheers to everyone who's finding them.

"If you do the math you are getting a bottle for $17.50 but you get the mini bottles which is much funner."

thats the same maths/logic i used when i tried my hand at being a gigilo ;)

      so, how was your hand?

      • +3

        terrible…
didnt pay me claiming 'five finger discount'

Mini bottles increases overall surface area which increases the amount of product coalescing to the inner walls of the bottle. Hardly fun.

  • Chadstone is out :)

  • I just picked up a few from Ashburton, their system says they have a good 70 or so units left.. Good luck!

    • just bought a carton from ashburton (20 boxes). still plenty left apparently.
