      • +3

        Are you working at EB?

  • stupid question as I'm just looking for a good controller for PC:

what solutions do you guys use for the rechargeable battery? simply pop some eneloops in there or do you guys have other popular solutions?

    • +6

Eneloops or Ladda batteries from IKEA is all you need.

      • after that do you simply connect a USB-C charging cable and it will charge the Eneloops inside the controller?

        • Google search is saying no

        • Nope

          From https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/help/hardware-network/control…

For the best performance, rechargeable AA (LR6) batteries are recommended. Note that these rechargeable batteries don't charge in the controller. Recharge these batteries by the method recommended by the manufacturer.

        • +3

No, you can't charge AA's through the controller, the Xbox rechargeable batteries can due to the additional contact pins in the controller.

You will need a AA charge station which most people already have.

Eneloops all the way if playing via bluetooth. But, on my main computer I like wired - less input lag.

    • I used a bone controller. The shit thing is you can't recharge it via cable. You have to pull it out, scrounge around for some spare eneloops, replace them, charge the dead ones. The process takes a lot longer than plugging in a cable when you're not using it. That's why I prefer the PS controllers even though the bone controller lasts 2 days which is longer than the DS, if I allowed it to go flat. But it never goes flat because I just plug it in when I'm done gaming and it's always full the next time I use it.

The bone controller worked well enough but in less than a year one of the triggers broke and stopped working. I could feel that something snapped inside.

    • Play and charge kit is the go!

  • Bagged. Thank you.

  • how accurate is the d-pad? I'm getting 360 PTSD just looking at it. The 360 d-pad is hands down the worst d-pad I've ever used and is full of false positives. I don't know how people could stand it.

    • 360 dpad is the worst i've ever used, X|S dpad is one of the best

      • is it easy to do a dragon punch? Any false positives? Any non cross design makes me skeptical.

        • Bit late for a reply, but i don't really play fighting games. My enjoyment of the X|S controller is for various retro games, mostly platformers.

  • I just wish these lasted longer that 6 months before problems start to occur

    • +1

Hey mate - what are you doing with your controllers? All mine are much older than 6 months and just fine.

      • +2

Using them, what are you doing with yours?

    • +3

PS5 controllers haven't been much better for me in that regard. Had three replacements already (one drifting stick, one sticky button, and a trigger where the adjustable tension got stuck)

And when the batteries die in a few years time, good luck replacing them

  • Is this an ideal controller for PC?

  • Is it compatible to Window 11?

  • Can't buy, Tried Paypal and GPay, keep getting Transaction failed error.

  • +2

I had recently bought the red/white one, and bought a USB C cable from Aldi, 2 meters long. I don't need batteries, and it works with Windows 11 perfectly. Also, you can update firmware with a Microsoft store download of "Microsoft Accessories" app

I paid $79, not much more really.

I know this is unrelated. But I’m after DualShock 4’s and it seems those things never go on sale. Just wondering if anyone had any insight on that.

    • DualShock 4's are currently on sale at multiple stores… They're always on sale.

I got this delivered today from Amazon. Was having a lot of trouble having it stay connected to the PC via bluetooth without constant dropouts (from arm's reach away), then found a reddit comment which advised using your motherboard's wifi antenna if it came with one. That seems to have fixed it for me as well as a lot of other people.

I had the same issue before. Now I use xbox wireless controllor usb adaptor, never has any issue after all.

    • +1

2nd Gen xbox controllor usb adaptor selling cheap over ebay. You may try one of these.

    • +1

Also it's good to update the firmware on the controller also. You can do this using Microsofts accessories app in windows or Xbox I believe. Very easy to do but can help with some odd controller behaviour sometimes.

  • Thank you, brought one in white colour from EB.

  • +1

Amazon has price matched all of these now.
$69 for the Electro Shock blue and the lime green.

And for anyone wondering, they work on One S/One X too.

  • Do these come with AA batteries? I bought the $69 one with USB-C cable from BigW, the box is covered with chinese writing and there are no batteries..
