If you said that 2 years ago you would have had the Tesla people's army at your door, or be downvoted to no end.

I'm glad they have competition now and the fan club have moved on to other things, or just gotten bored defending and promoting the brand. Some of the crap I hear people talking about to no end, it's excruciating, especially when you leave your headphones at home!

IMO Tesla share price has a long way to fall. I'm thinking low $60 USD.

I guess that's expected when a company has no CEO

    • +2

Price of Tesla is reflective of the size of battery they put inside them too. They offer cars with a good range.

      • -2

The real question is why do people need to drive hundreds of kilometers ?

Whaat going to happen next, people driving 100km to goto the toilet just because they can ?

    • +3

Keep waiting. For a so called cheaply built mediocre car, Model Y is the safest car Euro Ncap has ever tested including your overrated german crap. They dont have nearly the same performance, efficiency or the tech (price no bar) either.

Model 3, S and X were rated as cars with the least probability of causing an injury in Usa by NHTSA. Before you have your panties in a bunch again, this was in 2018 when Model Y wasnt even launched.

You are the customer a german manufacturer needs and wants to sell their overpriced, unreliable crap

      • +1

As part of this assessment, Model Y received the highest Overall Score among any vehicle tested under Euro NCAP’s newest, most stringent test protocol.

ahh classic Tesla, very few cars have been tested using the new protocol, so just make claims and idiot fans parrot them without any scrutiny.

        • What scrutiny? It is the best currently so what?

          • +1

@dealsucker: By your logic that first car to be tested under the new protocol is the safest in the world as it has the highest test score on record as its the only one - so hey if the latest Lada is first to be tested its the safest car in the world.

            • @oznik: Are you dense or trying desperately hard to be one - the new protocol is more stringent than the last one meaning, it's safer than the safest cars tested under the old protocol. It's adult protection score is the highest tested ever. But no go ahead duckface.

    • +12

lmao, I have a m3p and bloody love it. I've owned about 25 cars in my live and this car and my boxster S are my 2 faves, saying it drives like a 30k car is utterly absurd.

I'm not saying it drives like a 100+k merc either, but the idea it drives like a 30k car is lunacy. Just last week I drove a new camry hybrid (45k i think) and it drove like a box of shit vs the tesla.

I'm all for competition, but don't let the elon hate (i think he's a dick as well) cloud you - they are very good cars, and a heck of a lot more evolved/polished than other ev's at this stage.

      • +3

Agreed - sold two porsches in the last 12 months, my base model cheapo plain vanilla model 3 still blows my mind when i get in it. Elon is a fruit loop but teslas are great.

Unfortunately a lot of anti EV and anti Tesla people out in the broader community for some reason. Dont waste your time trying to reason with them.

        • +1

It is the same like Apple haters. They see it as their personal duty to be ducks and swarm every thread.

    • +4

Mmm i love my model y, except for the range anxiety i guess. Full self driving it does not, but having every car comnected via the internet to massive supercomputers seems like a credible solution.
Tesla disrupted the entire car industry which is why my money went to them. The petrol car companies execs had close to zero interest in EV while flying around in private jets. I doubt EVs will save the planet, but they are the future, Tesla has made it so. Its the change of this generation.

      • +1

Private jets? Elons got a Gulfstream G650.

  • +37

Waiting for the hack to make your Tesla think it's in Turkey and save some $ :)

    • +1

I think India is cheaper….if your card works!

      • Tesla has to be launched in India first for it to think that.

  • +1

    Nice, summon is pretty cool!

    • +3

Would be a nice feature in a girlfreind

Maybe a question you would ask on a first date "Do you have a smart summons feature?"

    • +2

Pats car after it arrives. ‘Eaaasy there girl’

  • +3

Tried the auto lane change today and it works but is a bit slow. Can make you look like bit of an idiot when there are cars in the lane you're trying to change into

    • +4

If you go into the settings you can change it to Average or Mad Max

  • +13

… $5100 for this, is literally LOL funny

    • +12

      Yep.

Pay $5,100 to be part of our bug testing team! I mean… early access to a software update.

Serioisly though, $5,100 is a helluva price to pay for a software upgrade.

      • +4

        $5100 alpha tester

    • +1

You can get a used toyato corolla with some savings

    Auto Pilot

No, Tesla DOES NOT HAVE AUTO PILOT
It's driver assist, but not auto pilot.

    • That was the term approved by legal but we know what it actually is.

      • It's a term they're banned from using in Germany because it isn't.

      • That was the term approved by legal

Approved by marketing you mean. It's a misleading & deceptive term.

but we know what it actually is.

        Apparently some don't.

    • +3

It's it's an ongoing marketing tool to make people think they're buying a self driving car. Then when they have it and realise it's a driving aid, they then start justifying and defending the purchase any way they can.

      • Eh you can spend 43k on a Mazda 3, and it will tell you to emergency break when person infront of you changes lanes when in cruise control.
Not like driver assist is great on most cars.

    • The software is called auto pilot doesn’t mean it’s self dricing

    • +1

An autopilot is a system used to control the path of an aircraft, marine craft or spacecraft without requiring constant manual control by a human operator. Autopilots do not replace human operators. Instead, the autopilot assists the operator's control of the vehicle, allowing the operator to focus on broader aspects of operations (for example, monitoring the trajectory, weather and on-board systems)

      • +1

Exactly, thanks aj3000. And with that description Tesla use the term correctly. Lots of people just dont understand what Autopilot means, they think it means self driving which it never did. And people criticising its name dont understand the load it takes off the driver.

  • +1

Is it one of those things where they hope you forget to cancel and charge you $5k ?

    • +1

Use a debit card with $0 balance.

  • Is the child collision detection feature extra?

    • +6

      Requires further testing.

Please provide samples of children to be used in our beta test program.

Alternatively, please submit the online bug report should a collision successfully occur.

    • Requires a good driver

  • +3

MKBHD recently shared a commute to work using auto pilot, and it seemed more stressful than just driving normally.

    • +2

It's always more stressful being the passenger than the driver, LOL.

    • He was using full self driving. Enhanced autopilot isn’t the same.

      • -2

Actually his video was quite poorly researched, since he was driving on the highway it would've been normal Autopilot. FSD only works on normal roads, highway support is only coming when V11 is released.

        • He drove on both

          • -1

@Techie4066: there's no curing stupidity/misinformation on the internet

            • @eddyah: Don't really think that's necessary, none of what I said is misinformation, though I did forget a small part of the video was filmed on normal roads

          • @Techie4066: The majority of the video was on a highway, and it was represented as FSD the whole time.

      • Ah fair enough. Didn’t realise they were two different things.

  • A lot of luddites here

    • You should watch some Thunderf00t
      thank me later

      • -2

Oh this looser numpty. Yeah nah!

        • looser numpty

You sound smart. Any specific criticism or just a throwaway take from a scientifically illiterate cultist?

          • @Techie4066: I saw his Tesla video since it came in my youtube recommendations and basically all FUD. Its nothing that I dont already know and no new information that I also already know. I came across asinine stuff like this everyday.

            • @dealsucker: Is he wrong?

              • @Techie4066: If you were to take him on face value, Tesla would crash and burn soon. Please go ahead and short Tesla stock if you believe so - you could be a millionaire in no time.

                • @dealsucker: Yeah you most definitely haven't understood the substance and reassessed your biases

                  • @Techie4066: That's why I said, if you have go ahead and short Tesla. I have my money where my mouth is. I am an investor.

                    • @dealsucker: Idgaf about shares and don't have so much as one. I care about Musk's actions, with the share value halving being an outcome of them. It simply illustrates the underlying problems, of which Thunderfoot has covered many.

                      • @Techie4066: Then idkwtf would you care about the so called Musk's actions or Tesla at all? Are you that looser who has nothing else to do in life? Thunderfoot my ar$e.

  • +2

There will come a day when all Tesla cars will become conscious and drive themselves into ditch

    • Only after you take them out for a few drinks …

  • +1

    Full upgarde

This is the real deal here — you can save heaps on insurance with the full upgarde protecting you from reckless drivers

  • +1

Thx op, now I just need to start saving to buy tesla

    • That's not the ozbargain way!

      Buy now- think later!

    • Much better options out there.

  • Why is this a bargain?

It is just like any of the other new or improved features that have come to Tesla's with new OTA firmware updates. All Tesla's (except those who have already bought EAP or FSD) receive it automatically and you don't need to do anything to get or activate it.

And for those who don't currently own a Tesla, there's nothing they can do to get this "deal". This 30 day EAP trial is described by Tesla as a "holiday gift" so even if you go and place an order today, by the time you get your car this offer will no longer be available. So this deal fails in the availability front as well.

Or when will we start to list windows updates as bargains?

    • -8

You have a lot to say for someone who has posted 8 deals in nearly 10 years…

      • +1

So? Doesn't change the fact that what was written was right.

        • I just find it ironic people complain about deals being posted, which this is but don't post deals themselves.

          • +2

@adamshere: Perhaps their threshold of what constitutes as deal is high that they hardly ever find anything worth posting?

        • After that essay the only thing that could be changed is that this becomes targetted or for existing Tesla owners already. Rest of the deal is valid.

    • Why don’t you have a Tesla, it’s a good toy car. I don’t see you complaining about not having eBay plus.

    • +4

Good point on the Windows updates. I will start posting them now.

I mean we can have new movies on Netflix, new games on Gamepass, so Windows updates are definitely deals!

      • +2

Just subscribed to your posts to see the Windows Updates. Going to be disappointing if it's all talk and you don't follow through.

  • +1

So happy to get this. Will be awesome for our road trip

  • -4

Tesla, now the number one vehicle of antivaxxers

    • +3

Wouldn't AVs own and use 100% mechanical vehicles?

      • -2

It was in September, but thanks to Elon Mush's Twitter antics, driving a Tesla is now like wearing a MAGA cap and ranting about 5g vaccines.

    • +9

Wait, I thought ev drivers were all woke leftists?

Man, these Venn diagrams are getting confusing….

    • +1

are you saying all tesla owners are avs or
      all avs are tesla owners

  • +1

If you're paying that much for a car you shouldn't have to pay extra for these DLC's….. What a rort of a company.

    • +1

BMW are doing it, Merc are about to with some AMG features…

    • Most of the $ is in the battery. Eg a 13kw/hr battery for the house is around $10K and Teslas have 60 -75 kw/hr batteries

      • Please show me where I can get a Powerwall 2 for $10k. I would like to buy 10.

I just got 2 quotes - including installation, cheapest was $17.5k….

        • +1

They’re referring to just the battery component

        • In the ACT, paid $10.5k installed December last year.

          • @drewbytes: I feel there’s a lot of detail missing here.

Subsidies, smaller battery etc… and it still doesn’t look right.

Dad did big Tesla battery on last two homes (Melbourne) & 5-6kw panels. $17-20k per install, tier 1 but not high end. Panel subsidies, but not battery) Admits the money will never return, but he just wanted it.

            • @Ulysses31: Yes the ACT had subsidies which reduced the price (and I also used an interest free loan as part of the ACT Sustainability Scheme), but that was a genuine $10.5k installed for a PW2 with gateway.

        • I got an AlphaEss battery for that much a few months ago. Thank you.

    • +1

So no one should pay for software at all and it will write itself?

      • No one should pay for features that are already present in the car but locked behind a paywall. It's one thing to pay extra for upgrades it's another to make it a subscription based dlc. There's no explanation to this then greed and milk the consumer… But hey if you're happy paying for it I guess there's a sucker (no pun intended) born every minute.

        • +1

Its not a feature which is present in the car, the hardware is. Its like phone's using the same camera sensor but having completely differeing image outputs, the differentiation being software. Software does not write itself.

        • I think you misunderstood umoddbro's comment. The cost to Tesla is not the hardware which every car has. Its the software thats going to evolve constantly, requiring billions of dollars of manpower and computer farms. How are they meant to fund that? Once FSD is safe to move out of Beta I think they will remove the outright purchase option and be subscription only. Might take 10 years or so of heavy development.

  • +1

Tried the autopark a few hours ago, it's just as bad as everyone says. The lane changing works pretty well, and I can see Summon being useful from time to time, but this has solidified my decision to not purchase EAP.
