    I'm getting

      Fixed, sorry :(

  • Link isn't working. "404 Document Not Found".

  • Going back and editing your own post after the fact just so you can report someone else's post as a duplicate is kinda strange .. :^)

    • I was wondering why this is reported as duplicate too. Searched the site and there's not another active post of this phone.

    • -4

Have you read the rules? If it’s posted in the last month for the same link, you are suppose to use the other post…

Not only it clearly states that, it makes you tick a box that you read it and it’s not a duplicate for you to be able to post it.

So kinda strange you’d do that…

      Rules:

      Duplicates

Don't post duplicates (deals that are already on the site). Please search OzBargain before posting.

      Exceptions:

The original deal is older than one month, and was expired or sold out between then and now.
The original deal is active but older than 6 months.
The duplicate gains an excessive amount of positive votes (100+) and the original deal was posted and had become active more than 24 hours ago.
The item is not in the title of the original deal. Moderator discretion can apply if the post is seen as excessive.
Note: If an expiry date is not set on a deal post, it will be automatically marked as expired after 45 days (90 days for freebies). It is the poster's responsibility to either set an expiry date, or report the deal to have it marked as 'long expiry' (never auto expire).

These exceptions do not apply to long running deals where the referral system is the offer.

      • Chalk $477.67

        • Your link also links to the charcoal. But fair on the chalk as it is lower than it was before, but again same product page.

Find sage at that price and I reckon that could definitely be of its own post.

    This or pixel 7…

    • +11

Depends on your budget, $475 or ~$900? This phone provides same Google Pixel experience on a budget.

    • +9

If you're considering the 7 you might want to keep your eye out for Samsung S22 Ultra (if this is something appealing) deals as the new model is coming out. It was recently down to $999. I believe Feb the new model will be released, so really hoping to see deals at the $1k before trade.

The Pixel 7 also seems to have issues. I did see reviews of people pretty pee'd off (rightly so) with their upgrade from the 6

    • -3

Neither. pixel 5 wins both on battery, size, unlimited HQ photos except magic eraser not available

  • +8

That's pretty good price. Google is stealing marketshare from mid-tier brands.

    • yep,it’s why android one seems to be dying ….google is now in the mid range market which android one used to be in.

      • +1

The 2.3 million phones Google shipped in the third quarter was it's biggest tally ever for that three-month period. (And that number doesn't take into account any Pixel 7 sales, since those phones launched in October.) That's 334% growth year over year for Google's global market share.

        Source

      • +2

Google Nexus 4 and 5X were giant killers at ludicrous prices…$299?

And then Google lost the plot with the Pixel phones at >$1k.

And now they're "stealing marketshare" from the mid-tier?

Need a phone camera that is decent at portrait photos and balanced in all lighting conditions, is the best phone to take on a holiday?

Was tossing up between something like a cheap older Pixel or DJI Osmo Pocket

    • +17

It was voted as the best camera phone in MKBHD's poll, for what it's worth

      • +10

should be noted that it was for best camera for photography, didn't include video

        • 4 video IP13 or on 14 min Pro version?

        • +2

I have been using it last few days.

          Few things I noticed:

Preview you see on the screen as you are taking the photo is garbage on pixel, tho photos comes out sooo much better.

Compared to iPhone 14pro max honestly I can’t say photos are worse or better. It’s really just a different take. Shockingly sometimes is gets better dynamic range by not blowing the background, but iPhone just chooses to keep background blurred (natural bokeh from larger lense) and darks dark highlights super bright. Where pixel lifts up the dark a little too much.

Sometimes iPhone captures details and textures better both in dark and highlights and sometimes other way around.

I am yet to find a photo that I think one is clearly better than the other, tho my feeling is always slightly leaving towards the consistency, speed of iPhone. Photos come out mostly as they are in the preview and there is no pause when taking them unlike the the pixel 6a.

Overall tho for $470… most certainly pixel IS the bang for the buck. (For photos. It’s shocking how good videos on iPhones are so not much contest there tbh.)

  • Would this work in any way differently to local stock?

    • +3

Nah, it's the same phone either way

  • hmm
I'm in Spain now and the price is $607 delivered to a Spanish address
Once I switched the address to the Australian the price is $475

    • Have you Checked Amazon.Co.uk or Amazon.es directly?

I would expect differences in taxes as VAT etc. are higher in the EU than Australia

      • Yep, just funny how price could be different for different markets

        • -1

Milk, bread, smartphones, Netflix, cars cost different in different countries.

It's quite interesting some people don't realize that!

    • Does Spain still have a 29% GST ?

      • Vat is 21% as far as i know.
Most of elections are still cheaper even with 21%

      • Wow why do they have such a high GST?

        • +1

          Because Europe, roughly.

Less valuable natural resources, compared to Australia. Also it's harder for China to invest their money there. So the governments there need to get money other ways.

          Google "the lucky country".

  • +5

What is the warranty and return policy like with Amazon UK? Can I claim warranty directly with Google?

    • +2

This is an important question! From everything I've read, Google support sucks so adding an extra layer of complexity would be no good.

  • +2

Hi guys please advise, this or Samsung Galaxy A73 (which is under $530)

    • +21

Both as solid phone which shares similar specs around at their respective price circa $500.
From the reviews and general feedback from OZB Forum
      6A has better:
      * Photography (AI processing, face unblur)
      * Software (first to get New Android OS and security)
      * Google experience (Vanilla no bloat, Android as intended)
      * Compact (6.1 inch screen)

      A73 has better:
      * Larger and faster screen (6.7 inch with 120Hz)
      * Larger battery (5000mah)
      * Expandable memory with SD card slot.
      * Can use Samsung galaxy tags.

Cant go wrong with either, although the OZB in me pro will side with the A73 for its on a bigger discount.

      • +1

        Thanks much appreciated mate👍

        • +5

Happy new year, glad to help.
I would consider longevity too, in case of hand me downs.
Samsung having actual stores may have better luck fixing/replacing battery screen.
Pixel will rely on Googles mail-in service.

      • +1

6A overheats based on comments on previous deals.

      • -2

A73 better as Samsung has longer update support and 120hz is a big difference for me.

      • 6A: no wobble when typing on desk!

      • +1

        P6a
Software like a nightmare with lots of bugs and lags.
        Bad battery life as well

Both will be fixed by updates, hopefully

  • Does this have the “magic eraser”?

    • Yes I think this is in the Amazon description of the product

      • Thanks

  • Just canceled to save $7 but tbh I'd prefer a p7 deal and/or price match for local stock in hand

  • -1

    6a comparing to 7?

  • +4

i bought this from the prev 6pro deal and still not shipped - its been like 2 weeks. Status on amazon says Not Yet Shipped.

  • I gave up after a month after their last deal and got the JB deal. I thought it very odd Amazon taking so long to ship. I think they have stock now though.

    • +1

Had the same experience. Ordered in black friday sale. Only came into stock after Christmas, posted via DHL from UK and arrived yesterday

  • Purchased from Amazon UK during Black Friday sales, was shipped after 1 month. However was received in under 1 week once shipped.

  • Wasn't the 6a slated for overheating and dodgy battery life?

    • +2

From what I've read, the overheating issues seem to have been largely fixed by a software update. Some people still report it getting hot when multitasking or heavy gaming but my iPhone does too, so…

  • Why is the language used in the photos Spanish?

  • -4

I recently got one after mkbhd mention for the canera. Many bugs, gets super warm, short battery life ( I moved from poco f3 sd870), can't charge off standard car USB port which is super annoying. Android auto with 1 hr trip drains battery to 76% instead of charging. Avoid if you can.

    • +1

Going from F3 to this is at best a sidegrade, possibly a downgrade.

      • My f3 was getting 2 yra old. Fantastic everything but camera and software upgrades.

        • +1

Just because a couple of years have passed that does not mean you need to replace your phone. I have a 7T which is a couple of years old and as far as specs go inferior to the F3 but it still does everything a newer phone would do. F3 is still an absolute beast of a phone.

          • @s1Lence: Yeah true. But this was the longest I have had with a phone in the last 5 years. So that's a credit to f3. The camera on my f3 is very shitty and I only switched to 6a for the camera.

    • +1

thanks for the heads up. Been using Poco F3, was thinking of switching to this for the camera. I decided to keep my F3

    • +3

Get a better USB cable, trust me.

      • +1

Great tip. Thanks. I changed the type c cable from my car to a genuine one and no issues so far. No overheating and phone charges fine.

  • Great phone. I have used it for a month now, happy finally out of Samsung phone.

  • +3

It's a great phone. No issues at all, have had it 4 months now.

    Photos are fantastic
    Battery lasts easily 3 days.
    Stays cool
    Great performance

    I upgraded from a One plus 6.

    • 'Battery lasts easily 3 days.'
Maybe if you don't use the phone, sure.

      • +1

Yeah, I'm not glued to my phone 24/7

Don't run any apps that drain

        • +1

yea the SOT is <10 hours so if you were glued to it 24/7 it'd spend more time charging it than not

  • Now if only there was a good deal on screen protectors & case for this phone. JB was reluctant to give any decent deals for the accessories. :(

    • +1

Screen protector can be bought from Amazon for ~$10 for a pack of 3, case anywhere from ~$10 to ~$15

  • Price beat at OW for $453 over the phone.

    • Good work on that! I just tried and the lady didn't let me price beat.

      • I called the number and the lady setup click and collect at a nearby store in Victoria. I think I convinced her to buy one too (wondering if it was popular and I explained the photo survey).

        • +1

Did they ask you any further questions? My lady said beause amazon listing stated " UK imports may differ from local products." then it's not eligible. She seemed pretty clueless so I didn't want to waste my energy to argue, Just told my brother to call instead and try his luck!

          • @navegante88: Nah, the lady just looked up Amazon and found it. Bit strange. Sold through Amazon Australia but sourced from an Amazon UK warehouse. 🤷‍♂️

I haven't received click and collect confirmation yet but was charged.

            • @Tim Mc: I'm sure you'll be able to collect your phone soon! Enjoy your new phone!

              • @navegante88: Collected 🥳

                • @Tim Mc: My brother just tried in store and got rejected despite manager agreeing over the phone 😱

                  • @navegante88: I do wonder if it's below their cost price. It must be pretty close.

    • went to and called a few OWs - none of 'em would let me price beat. i think OW have caught on!

  • -2

139 upvotes and no-one has bothered to report the post for an incorrect link?

    Thanks @atlas85 for this one;

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Google-Pixel-6a-Smartphone-megapix…

    • +1

No one bothered to report the post for "incorrect link" because it only became "incorrect" close to a week after it was posted. Up to today it was the correct link, then the price went up for one of them (but remained low for the other), then a mod updated the link to the one that was still low price.

  • Anyone rec'd a dispatch confirmation yet?

    • Mine is still pending.

    • Says order received.

  • For the people getting their new pixel 6a.

The google pixel 6a can support 90hz if you are smart with technology.

    https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/11/23503314/mod-unlocked-90…

Doesn't work for everyone, and its not easy to activate.

  • +1

Success in getting a price beat from Officeworks by calling them and paying over the phone - I needed to call twice as the first person did not believe it was a like for like since it's a UK version

    • Hey mate, mind sharing a copy of your receipt? I’ll try give them a call this arvo

    • +1

If it helps anyone, the model from OW is the same as Amazon. G1AZG and UKCA are on the back of the Pixel 6a from OW.

      • +2

        Thanks Tim!

I called OW twice and they keep using the same excuse, either it's from UK store or the Model Number does not match.

On their system that is probably the case, and I doubt they will check the phone physically for the model number.

        Thanks for the help anyways.

  • +1

Charcoal is back in stock on Amazon FYI

    • +1

      ty :)

OW price beat the Pixel 6a Chalk G1AZG to $453.79

    Here's my OW invoice:
    https://imgur.com/a/43MlvF9

    • Just tried and they noticed it being sold from Amazon UK, even though the model was the same. Well done on getting it done though!

  • +2

Just picked up the charcoal 6a for $451.25 at my local OW. I walked in and out in like 5mins; the guys there didn't even question it.

    • Well done, care to share invoice? minus personal details. Planning to try it tomorrow.
