  • What other products would I need in order to get this going?

    • +2

I have several of these working with Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi with a Deconz ConBee II. No Aqara hub required. Works a treat. Battery lasts around 2 months only though so not the best.

      • +1

        Same

      • Do you think I should get the M2 hub at 50 bucks, or will I run into limitations in the future?

I think eventually I'll get into more home automation but not for the minute.

      • +1

Can they handle heavier blockout blinds?

        • +1

Prob somewhat subjective but I have it wrangling an approx 2m x 2m Louvolite blockout blind without any issues.

          • @fault: Literally just changed from 50 off to 10 off. Damn

      • Really? I'd thought, for some reason, they didn't work with the Conbee II (which I have), so I hadn't picked any up yet. I'll definitely get one if they are compatible.

        • +1

100% works. have 4 around the house

      • Same

    • The M2 hub is also half price if you need one. I've updated the deal.

The M2 Hub will also be Matter compatible via an OTA update in Jan. So it might be worth while getting.

      • Thank you!

      • What does the hub do?

      • I'm starting my HA journey now - do you suggest M2 or conbee?

  • +2

    Bargain

  • Slightly out of topic, can anyone recommend something similar for curtains?

    • There is this one for $128. Know nothing about it or whether that's a good deal (suspect not as good as the blind deal)

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/255855910296?hash=item3b92335d98…

    • It’s expensive but they make there own curtain track and battery unit (HomeKit compatible) I bought it a few years back on Aliexpress. Very reliable. $380 delivered.

  • nice cheers

  • OOS already….

    • :( My payment couldnt go through

    • More in stock now I think, I just placed an order

      • +1

I think they changed it 2 minutes ago

  • It was a price error. I copied the code when it said 50, tried to apply and it said OOS. Added it to cart and applied the code again and now it took 5 off instead of 50.

  • Good price but I don’t recommend E1, my experience is not good

    • My existing 3 have been flawless

    • What's your bad experience with it?

      • Battery drains fast, I have a lot of them, charging is bothersome. The chains of the roller are getting looser by the time.

I would recommend zigbee roller, it has a larger battery, but not sure if it is available in Australia.

But my goal is replacing the roller to curtain

        • Yeah okay. Do you have to take it off to charge it, or could I bring a powerbank next to it for convenience?

Sounds like for $50 it's not a bad option anyway!

          • @snoopydoop: you can use powerbank, but take it off to charge it is more easier.

I bought them at a more cheaper price from China, but I regret

        • I've also had the same experience of chains stretching.. While is a little annoying, but it still works.. It just looks loose..

Apart from that, battery life for me has been great… Use it minimum 2 times a day and 1 charge is enough to keep it going for 3-4 months

    • Agree. 2months battery you will get sick of charging these quickly. I have the zemismart ones and they are around 4-6 months which is a lot better.

Also yes, the chains stretching is very annoying and require retightening. I switched to the rope ones which seemed to help alot

  • Back in stock

    • Yes but only 10 off not 50.

      • You need to use the OP code.

        • Nope it was a price error by eBay. Gone

          • @SgtBatten: My order went through although I placed it as soon as it came back in stock. We'll see I guess.

      • Damn!! Just got this update in my cart also :(

    • And its gone

  • Wasn't strong enough to lift my 1.87m x 2.8m roller blinds. Had to return 3 units and burn postage cost.

Plan to get Kogan smart blinds when they go on discount (missed the crazy discount in Oct, $49.99) - although they're wired, the torque is much higher.

    • +1

Don’t recommend Kogan either. It is not strong and needs an additional adjustment for the position every few weeks.

      • Is there any product you would recommend then? I don't mind wired or wireless as long as it can do the heavy-lifting, literally lol.

        • I am still looking for a good one. Aqara has been removed from my candidate list.

I consider to go for tube motors.

          • @junglejuice: I have this as well as the Somfy Sonesse 30 WireFree RTS (Li-ion) on my larger windows (approx 2.5m x 3m). Horses for courses but this might help anyone with considering the latter option:

            • tube motor so really discrete; no chain
            • since no chain, no retightening required & also manual control is via Somfy remote which is an extra expense
            • bit louder
            • much more expensive at ~$270 each
            • battery lasts ~1 year so much more convenient
            • charging is via proprietary connector & long wire power adapter; don’t lose it! (also means you need a power point nearby as you can’t use a power bank)
            • wireless control is via RTS and not Zigbee which may be a show stopper for some people (e.g., since not Zigbee you don’t get up/down state but I schedule up/down via automation so not a big deal for me)
            • requires a compatible hub & therefore an additional expense & integration complexity; I use it with a Bond Bridge which has a Home Assistant integration which works seamlessly
            • apparently you can’t use it with cheaper Broadlink RM4 Pro (or similar) devices due to “rolling codes”
      • +1

I've had mine since October and have no issues whatsoever. That said, I don't open/close them every day..

        • Nice, you mean you got Kogan ones? What's your roller blinds dimensions when fully down, may I ask?

          • @manofsteel: 1.8 x 2.4m.. day and night blinds, so 2 blinds. I managed to squeeze 2 of the motors into my window so can use both day and night blinds separately.

      • Maybe your cord is stretching or something? I’ve had one going for a few months, no issues with opening and closing every day.

Having said that, I never got it connected to the app. Tried lots of times. Am not a newb, have smart lighting all over the house

        • Mine worked well for a few months.

Yeah, It would be possible the cord is stretched. but a gap from the initial adjustment is a quite big and not consistent. I think there might be another issue with a worn plastic gear or low power of the blind or a bug of Kogan app(Tuya Cloud). Mine is connected to Kogan Smart home app. Anyway I gave it away to an owner of my previous home.

          • @junglejuice: I guess these things are highly dependent on the existing blind hardware being ‘suitable’.

It did take a bit of fiddling around with the cord tension and position of the roller on the cord, before I got it right

    • Oh man that worries me! I've got a 2.4m wide block out blind (Selections Day/Night), how close do you think yours was to being able to lift it?

Can you still manually use the cord while it's in there, or would that wreck the motor?

      • The Aqara motor moved the cord <1cm and gave up. I even tried as far as leaving the USB cable in for wired power – still no dice. Must be a motor strength / torque issue. My blinds are the weighty kind though, I know I've seen lightweight roller blinds before so hopefully that's yours.

Re 2nd question, no idea sorry, I didn't try that.

        • I'm having buyer's remorse lol, I have to put a bit of strength in when it's at its lowest so not feeling confident

Going down shouldn't be a problem though so hopefully I can just pull it up myself then at least auto drop it

      • These are just too heavy. I've seen the E1 types do ok on 1.2-1.5m widths but with heavy blockouts you should be using tubular motors.

  • Dang! OOS while adding the code

  • Code doesn’t work anymore. I was lucky to get two cabinets, fingers crossed order is fulfilled (mistake is from eBay though, so hopefully it’ll be ok)

  • +3

Party is over. And it was a long long party

  • +1

DISCOUNT IS OVER. CODE REVOKED BY EBAY.

  • Back in stock, but: Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order.

  • Damn.. Missed it

  • +1 for the product. Got one for xmas. Works flawlessly!

  • Is there a similar device which does a twist action for those types of blinds?

This is the only thing I could find but I abandoned idea after seeing the cost.

      • Looks exactly what I need thanks, but yeah that price is out of reach

  • I have two of these, but I've had problems with them not responding after a while, and the only way to get them to come back is to pull them apart and reconnect the battery.

  • has anyone been able to use these with Xiaomi hub? I have Xiaomi Hub and able to use Aqara sensors but not sure if this one will work with Xiaomi hub.
