[Hack] Extend "Pay As You Go" Plan Validity for 1 Year for $0 @ amaysim

690

Accidentally found this hack yesterday, not sure if I was lucky and if it works for everyone.

I have this sim on 365 days validity given to my parents overseas. When they come to Oz, its easy to co-ordinate with them at the airport and after. To keep the sim active, I would top up the account with $10 every year.

Hack- Yesterday, I changed the payment method (from Paypal to Debit card) and without making a payment of $10, the validity got extended by another year.

Hope this helps someone.

@Admin- please remove the post if its not appropriate for a deal.

    Thanks for posting.
It will help Amaysim close the loop hole.

Although I find most of JV's posts to be useless, unfortunately he is correct this time.

I'm on a monthly plan with Amaysim and due to their incompetent/lazy overseas call centre and system glitches, I have not been paying anything for close to two years. I thought it was an isolated case but I was able to replicate the same result and signed up my parents on the same plan six months ago.

Unfortunately, I am not going to share nor disclose my method for reasons stated by Captain Obvious as per above. Especially if it's going to risk my chance of getting the deal and allow the loophole to be closed.

      • I know, i thought i would reach out and let them know!

Ozbargain kills yet another deal by glitch.

  • +10

    They might deferred charge you.

A lot of times direct debit is not instant.

    • Thanks, I will keep an eye out for debits. I've used Revolut disposable card, all they did is validation. If I remember correctly, after validation Amaysim would ask to select the amount to be topped up and then you hit the submit button for the payment. Second step didn't occur.

thanks I will let the dev team know.

Shhh.. Whatever happens on Ozbargain, must stay in Ozbargain 😁

Lol, you're basically filing a bug report by posting here.

      Please update your "associated" status.

Hey OP, did you change the payment method one day before the end of the validity?

    • +1

      Yep

      • Thanks. Please keep us posted with what happens after a few days. Especially after reading what @abs898 wrote.

I have two numbers expiring on the 21st of March with 100GB out of 120GB left. If the hack works, you just saved me another 4-5 years of mobile plan.

      • Can you please clarify what's that $10 top up?

I can only see the "Add 1GB for $10"

When you were changing the payment method, did you have the auto-renew on already?

        • 'Add credit' option….

20 dollars you see are from previous 2 years.

          • @Skyisblue: Do data get roll over to next year when you add credit? I want to get a long term plan for my backup phone, 60gb can last me 3 years easy

            • +1

              @bri11iant-y:

Do data get roll over to next year when you add credit?

              No, only the call credit.

          • @Skyisblue: From the sounds of it, you're on pay as you go. Might not work on the yearly prepaid plan

This is the old ozbargain where deals were opportunistic and shared in a small group. Nowadays someone will call Amayim and ask if it’s a legitimate deal.

    • +14

The same people that go to Harvey Norman and ask 'what's a RAM?' lol

      • +4

I want the one with the GBs

        • +9

I thought you can download that?

      • +1

Does Harvey Normal sell male sheep?

  • +3

Not working for me. 164 days left. Payment changed from PayPal to credit card to bpay to PayPal again. Still 164 days….

    • +3

Our dev team has already fixed this.

      • I m sad

      • +12

can you also fix it so your website doesnt time out 90% of the time when try to change a plan or anything

      • +6

        Your Dev team stinks

        • +2

          What a turnaround time

Now if they had a fast turnaround for things OzBargainers want

      • +9

Great! Now your dev team can make the account portal not absolutely suck and constantly time out whenever you try to log in or do anything in it!

      • Can your dev team inbound fix number ports, where the person being ported in is under 14yo?

Fully frustrating to buy a sim then Amaysim expect I'll change the ownership to someone older with the old provider just to port a number.

  • +1

Just tried the same on my amaysim mobile # by changing payment method from Paypal to CC, and the expiry date did not change (still shows as 3 Feb, 2023). Logged out and in again, and still the same.

Did you see your expiry update straightaway or after sometime ?

  • +20

Did not realise Ozb was full of so many Amaysim devs

    • +13

Actually, there are no Amaysim devs. The software was perfected long ago, and they have since moved on to better things

      • +3

        Amaydevs

  • This might also work with all invalid payments. I remember my credit card attached was expired and I didn't update so the payment failed but the expiry date renewed.

    • +1

But don't they have your passport or drivers licence… Not really worth the risk imho

    • And you just got a bad credit rating too

  • Changed my plan to pay as you go, got a message saying Plan change is successfull and it will be changed to pay as you go after expiry date of current plan

    • +1

      That's usual.
In a year (or a year after new recharge of $10 or more), you'll receive this message:

Your remaining credit will expire today. Please recharge your account as soon as possible to continue using your service as normal and avoid any hassles.
If you would like to keep your mobile number 04…, simply recharge with $10 in your amaysim account and you will keep your number for another 365 days!

Still receives incoming calls & SMS for a while after that.

Have a few Amaysim numbers for free incoming calls & SMS. Operates for at least 1 year after plan expires. Doesn't require any credit. All SIMs were from free Deals here.

  • Is this frank cozzo alternate account?

  • +1

Called Amaysim they said it's not a deal they can offer 😂

    • +2

There's got to be at least one person

      • +4

It was a joke from the previous deal! Gosh!

        • Lol @ people not taking a joke and negging you

    • have you told them this has been your 'determining factor' in choosing amaysim though ?

      • Ofcourse, told them I am with Telstra

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1

Haha - this happened to me but I didn't realise why!

  • +3

Dammit this is not a bargain, you have ruined a bargain.

  • Finally, know the reason dual sim mobiles became so popular!
