    Wowzers, $10k is steep

    • +13

It's pretty much non-existent with the PayAll feature.

I.e. you only need to transfer 10k out and 10k back, no actual 10k purchase required at all.

      • +1

Can you please explain a bit more on this? Thanks

        • +5

Citi PayAll feature. Search for it here on Ozb and read it.

      • yeah, I need to read up on that payall thing. Seems like people jsut do it but won't you get blacklisted once they see the money is just rotating from you?

        • If they got blacklisted, do you think the deal still active after runningnover 2 years?

        • You can put whatever name to the bank account you transfer to, so how can they know it’s also yours?

          • @hawkeye93: Once I do the payall when do i need to pay it back by to make sure I don't pay interest? Is it the next statement date?

            • @whey4000: depends on payment due date of your statement. Better repay a few days before that.

      • is payall counted towards minimum spend?

        • Yes

          • @wangasm: Edit: nevermind, my mistake! PayAll worked fine!

      • Edit: nevermind, my mistake! PayAll worked fine!

  • Can i close existing and apply again? Min spend can be easily achieved by payall.

    • 12 months gap required I believe

      • +1

        It's 6 months for Citi.

        • Good to know….
Should've closed mine as soon as I got bonus points :(

          • +1

@OzBestDeal: Also, don't spam too many applications or you'll get rejected anyway and have to wait another 6 months. I learnt that recently but then again I made full use of all my cards last year.

            • @thousandsuns: How many applications did you make?

              • @hawkeye93: I was approved for every single card I applied for prior. I think I went through 3 x cc and 1 x refinace all in a space of 3 months.

        • 6 months gap for all type of credit card from Citi ?I had qantas premier card earlier and closed recently . Still eligible?

          Thanks

    • no if you already have a prestige card. i checked with support via chat and was told there is 12 month stand down period like all other credit cards.

  • +2

wow, the min spend is getting crazy high lately :|

  • Still did not get my $600 back for apply pay Citi credit card

  • +3

this converts to 150 000 Velocity

  • +7

Can refer to this spreadsheet I created if you want to see how much 300k points are worth.

    • How did you work out "$ per converted point"?

      • Flybuys themselves convert 2000 flybuys points to $10 flybuys dollars to spend in stores (Therefore equalling 0.5 cents per point)
The airline points worth are somewhat documented/estimated online and I have also did some testing myself by looking at how much flights cost with cash versus how much they cost with points. For example, a $1000 flight that costs 50,000 airline points means each point is worth 2 cents. Obviously this can vary depending on the $ cost of a specific flight and route but it gives you a rough idea.

  • Whats the conversion rate to krisflyer?

    • 3:1

      • +5

        For Citi Prestige, it’s 2.5:1

  • +1

Could anyone explain the PayAll strategy to meet the spending requirements? I'm not familiar with PayAll at all, just keep reading it mentioned. Thanks!

    • +7

It's pretty simple. Do a 10K payall transaction do your own bank account elsewhere (BSB + account number), then transfer it back. it counts towards your minimum spend, and also gives you 10K more points.

      • Thanks! I assume PayAll is some type of feature in CitiBank or interface in your account that allows you send money or pay someone using your credit card as the source. Would there be additional charges or fees by doing this with a credit card? If not — that is actually crazy good for some quick points.

        • +1

No fees at all until end of Oct this year, but you can set up scheduled transfers way beyond that (Assuming Citi doesn't remove them)
          Rabbit hole: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/610776

          • @wangasm: Wow that's pretty incredible to use up until Oct. I've just moved to Australia and can't get approved for a credit card until I earn my first payslip — so I'll just have to wait!

          • @wangasm: @wangasm I just signed up. Got an email confirming my application, with this statement 'A fee of 2% of the amount of the CitiPayAll payment is payable and is debited to your Account each time a Citi PayAll payment is made.'.

I assume this 0% fee for PayAll is no longer available?

            • +1

@balexa47: Still available until Oct 2023.
              https://www1.citibank.com.au/offers-benefits/PayAll1

To get started, set up single or regular Citi PayAll payments by transferring funds directly from your credit card account to the bank account of the payee held with an Australian financial institution. For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023, the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%.

Make sure you schedule them before Oct. You can even schedule them to start 2025

            • @balexa47: 2% is the standard fee they tell everyone. The 0% is the promo that's still going on

      • cant i keep doing this for 10k points repeatedly then?

        • +1

Limited to $20k in transfers per month. But yes you could get 20k points easily each month. Some even hold onto the funds to earn interest.

          • +19

@wangasm: Wife and I have a card each transferring $20k from each card every month to our mortgage offset, then back again before the statement is due.

Saves us about $100 in interest a month, and also getting 20k velocity points a month as well.

Setup scheduled payments and auto redemtion of velocity points, so its set and forget.

            • @T1: WOW

            • @T1: are you nervous you might get blacklisted?

            • @T1: From T&C :
Can I use Citi PayAll to pay my mortgage or other debts/loan repayments?

This product should not be extended to repaying other debt held, for business purposes, for the purpose of gambling, or in connection with unlawful activities, to invest in shares or other financial products or for cryptocurrency related transactions.

              • @VQLD: You PayAll into a normal sv acc. What you after that sre your business.

            • @T1: Question for you.
Can you change bank account after you schedule it? Reason is that setting up the transfer for 2 years to an offset account is too long. Will probably refinance more than twice in two years to earn some cashbacks.

Do you setup a intermediary account to get around this?

              • @spiinl:

Can you change bank account after you schedule it?

No, you will need to reschedule a new payall to send to a different account. If you do this after Oct 31st, it will trigger the 2%.

              • @spiinl: Yeah, you cancel the schedule and create a new one to a different bank account. I think you have to wait a few days to setup a new schedule though.
We only plan on having the cards for the first year to avoid the AF so I only setup the schedules for 12 months.

Having a intermediary account might come in handy if Citi change the rules again on the max amount you can transfer each month. IIRC, that change didn't impact existing schedules already setup.

                • @T1: I am more concern about them charging fees after October for new schedule. If change to a new offset account after, i will be slugged with the fees if i re-schedule.

      • +1

Have you actually done this? I pay my rent via PayAll but thought it would flag if you're sending money to a bank account in your own name (they all seem to require approval and would imagine this would be something they may decline)?

        • +2

Yep, these 15 pages of comments say it all
Legoman in particular has it down to an art
They can't verify the name/owner of the destination account so you could really name it anything. (Just don't send it to a Citibank/NAB owned account)

Also tip: If your rent allows payments via BPay, you can pay with your card via Beem which should net you bonus points (3 or 2 points per dollar) rather than the standard 1 point per dollar from PayAll. Can also do this with other bills.

      • +1

Wait for them to fix this loophole now.

        • It will cost 2% of the transfer amount after Oct. Could argue its not a loophole and more they are trying to lure people into using it while its free and then jack up the price.

          • @Gumbootboy: I suppose the 150k income requirements already make it difficult for most people to attain anyway. I want to go for this card in September. I hope the deal remains then.

            • @thousandsuns: I've got this card. I had it from the previous deal, the req spend previously was 7.5k for the se points, which I thought was steep.

This offer is valid until 31 May 2023. Post this advertised date; we reserve the right to continue, withdraw or change the offer at any time without notice.

These are thr same T&Cs as the recent deal but it ended 31st Jan. It syaed up unt they replaced it with this one, so if you are lucky you'll have until mid June, then they may release a new offer (better or worse), or extend the same.

              • @Gumbootboy: The $350 annual fee isn't bad if they refund it. I would rather spend more instead of paying the annual fee, but I feel like they'll stop refunfing it in the future. At least right now people don't have to even worry about the annual fee.

                • @thousandsuns: It's actually pretty hard to get the annual fee refunded right now due to the new NAB policy.
But the annual fee here doesn't mean anything anyway since it's offset from all the points you get. With the fee factored in, this card still remains one of the highest profit point bonuses you can get.

                  • @wangasm: If you can't get a refund of the $350 annual fee, I wouldn't consider it as nothing. It is still $350 less in your pocket, no matter how much value you get back. So this deal is a lot better than the last one, obviously.

The issue is, however, it is a very high spend card and not everyone will get approved for it.

                • @thousandsuns: Can you explain how the $350 annual fee can be refunded?

                  • +1

@sareth: Cancel card and ask for refund but that is not guranteed to work any more nowadays. Since you are getting the points already, they would likely decline the request.

                  • @sareth: See here for refund steps (It's the same for Prestige) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13552991/redir
You need to meet your spend in the first month and stop using your card after the fee is charged

              • @Gumbootboy: I think they were desperate previously so thry removed the minimum annual income criteria and A LOT of people applied.

Now that they have customers, they've put it back up and will drastically limit the people who are now eligible.

      • If you regularly transfer large amounts of money to a personal BSB/Acc wouldn't that flag as suspicious transactions/income by ATO? Or how would they know it isn't your income?

        • +1

They might flag it but when you pay it off, you are also sending out a large amount. Banks can see that it was sent to credit card payment.

  • +3

Good luck guys. I got declined but can't tell how.

    • +2

me too. My salary is much higher than the requirements

      • Maybe too much debt or too many credit cards?

      • Does not matter. It’s purely a game of luck.

    • +1

Citi bank seem to decline card churners. From want I can tell I've pretty much been black listed by them. I churn through cards with every other bank.

      • +1

I'm a card churner too but got approved. How many cards do you apply for in a year?

        • Usually 4ish. I stick with Qantas points but sometimes throw a Kogan one in there. Never been approved for Citi bank, never been knocked back from any other bank.

          • @snb9211: Kogan is Citibank (NAB now) though

            • @diazepam: Now I am confused haha. Never been approved for a proper Citibank or the Qantas citibank but got approved for Kogan. I think I've had 3 or 4 rejections from Citibank.

              • +1

@snb9211: Yeah I only ever got rejected by Citi, got approved for much higher card on similar debt but slightly lower income. Then I got rejected by Virgin Money, which was apparently because I had applied for Citi CC less than 6 months ago.

                • @Banana: Glad to hear others have found the same with Citi. I also churn 4-5 cards per year and have done with every major company. Never had a single rejection except for Citi. Instant rejection the 2 times I have tried with Citi. Never bothered to call them thought to question. Will give this one a go, and if rejected again, will call and challenge. Worth a call for $1000 potential profit. My understanding is Citi is a very antiquated bank with outdated systems, so algorithm probably looking at credit enquires only, and doesn’t take into account the fact they are all now closed, and no liability any longer

                  • @Shaneeo: I wish I challenged Citi - wouldn't go and apply for Virgin Money a month later, had I been approved for Citi. I suspect they don't like serial churners. Let me know how you go.

                  • @Shaneeo: Don't apply if your last rejection was within three months, that is their threshold.

    • +1

Hoping Amex charge card offer back to life.

    • I got declined, called to ask why (they didn't give a response, said they'd get back to me), then got accepted.

      • What number did you called?

        • Can't remember, sorry

  • +4

Looks like there is a minimum income requirement of $150,000 per year.

    • +4

Not true, others and myself have gotten approved with less than that. It seems very dependant on your credit history.

      • +6

The application form does not let me pass without putting annual salary $150k.

        Source: https://i.imgur.com/kIFtqCP.png

        • +3

I did a test application and I am getting the same error as you.

They must have brought back the $150k criteria for this card. I applied for the exact same card less than a week ago without the $150k requirement.

        • Bummer! Seems they've sneakily brought it back

        • +1

Can confirm there shouldn't be a salary requirement on any of their credit cards now.

I just had to apply through the phone and got approved the next day.

    • Ahh i'm awaiting approval from the 14th, i hope they don't reject me based on that. I'm less than $10 under $150k.

    • I got the card from the last deal and I don't earn anywhere near that.

  • +2

Damn unlimited priority pass. If you travel this is a great deal. If only I had the required income T.T

    • Apparently no income requirement if you apply over the phone https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13392356/redir

    • Got about 6 lounge visits in plus a guest each time over the past 10 days in a short trip to Thailand. Already paid for itself.

Arguably the dining credits at some domestic airports in Australia are even better as you get real food.

      • No dining credits at international lounges you mean?

      • Domestic dining credit?

        • At some airports lacking lounges, priority pass gives you $36 to spend and another $36 for a guest at select participating cafes or bars within the terminal.

          • @Nuggets: Can you spend credit at airports where there are lounges? e.g. MEL has a few lounges + participating restaurants

            • +1

@heytherehoney: Yes, I've been to Melbourne priority pass "restaurant" "quick shots" T3, you also have access to Rex lounge.
Was really easy, just show priority pass app with barcode, then just say if you got a guest, then confirm flight details and order.
Just check the app, search for Melbourne and which terminal you will be travelling from.

  • +1

Would I still be eligible for this deal if I already have the rewards platinum card?

    • +1

Yep, I was able to get this after getting the Premier deal a month previously.

      • Please let us know if you get paid out the points as that's the big test!

        • I cancelled the Rewards card a day before applied for the Prestige. Got the points without issue.

Why are people worry about this when their T&Cs not mentioned any such exclusion of getting bonus points if having any Citibank credit cards?

          • @timhn: I’ve hit the spend requirement comfortably but am still waiting for my 300,000 to arrive after two statements. Was holding a premier at the time of opening the prestige.

  • -7

This is only for OzB high rollers right? Oh wait, I forgot, most Ozbargainers fit into that bracket

    • Ouch, imagine projecting your insecurities that hard.

    • The terms say $20k per “cardholder” so this may actually work. I’m also interested to know if anyone has tried it.

    • Wouldn’t primary and sub cardholder share the same limit? If you have 20k and sub card uses 15k, only 5k left for primary.

      • +1

Yes. Learned it the hard way. Hubby was my secondary cardholder before he got his own card (as primary holder). I accidentally set up PayAll with his secondary card thinking it was his Primary card. (Hope this made sense). Not only did he share my limit and numbers of transaction, it also affected the PayAll transaction limit on his own card.

    • Any tried this?

  • +2

    After you spend $10k:

    160,000 Velocity points
    1 points per dollar
Points transfer 2 CitiRewards points -> 1 Velocity points

    128,000 Krisflyer miles
    0.80 miles per dollar
Points transfer 2.5 CitiRewards points -> 1 Krisflyer miles

  • +2

So payall is basically a bank transfer, you can transfer 20k into mortgage offset then transfer back again after a month without any fees or deductions?

  • You will get declined straight away if you have allowed for a citi product in the last 6 months.

    • +2

I closed my Premier card and applied for this one the next day, had no issues.

      • I got rejected twice and so did many other people and in another thread someone mentioned they were told by Citi that it is because they had applied for other products in the last 6 months.

      • -1

You won't be eligible for any bonus points. Why on earth would you apply right away? There is a 6-month cool down period.

        • I applied after reading dozens of stories here that there was no exclusion period.

They were correct — I’ve already received the bonus points :)

          • @tt8: There is no exclusion, however if you have been rejected then you will have to server a minimum three months wait before applying again. It is not 6 months according to the Citi agent on the phone but rather three months.

            • @nadan: That makes no sense. So all banks except citi are dumb to actually allow churners to keep taking up points without any cool down period? The agent on the phone told me otherwise.

              • @thousandsuns: This is if you have been declined and not if you have applied successfully for a different card.

              • @thousandsuns: Agents will say anything to get you off the phone.

                • @Autonomic: Nope confirmed with a few agents that if you have been denied, you need to wait three months before trying another application.

    • +1

      Not true

      • what is not true?

        • +1

What I meant is I had applied for Premier card and was approved, and within 6 months I got Prestige also approved.

  • Anyone know if citi use Equifax or Experian?
For some reason my score in one is significantly higher than the other

    • Experian and illion

  • I have an old Citibank Visa debit card that is dormant till I use it overseas to withdraw money from ATM. I don’t see PayAll on the app so I am assuming PayAll is a feature for credit cards and not debit cards.

If I apply for the Citi Prestige Credit Card, will I get the PayAll feature?

  • Unlimited Priority Pass access seems very interesting. Since domestic airport doesn't require a ticket to enter, can I just go to airport and get some free foods everyday?

    • +1

Check the T&C, all the restaurants should have:

To be eligible, Cardholders must present a valid Card and Boarding Pass with confirmed same-day travel before placing an order.

      https://www.prioritypass.com/en/lounges/australia/melbourne-…

      • Thanks for checking! They outsmarted me!

        • +1

          stay in law school bee!

      • +2

But I read that once you have the same day boarding pass at Domestic Terminal(s), you could hop between the 2-3 cafe/stores to claim $39 + $39 (for a guest) from EACH of them in the same day! AND then go to the lounge (if available).

        • This is correct.

        • +1

          $36*

    • I usually only get asked for a flight number not a boarding pass so you probably could get away with it if you really wanted to.

  • Is the ONE free airport transfer up to $100 in 2022 still going on this year?

    • Yes, just booked one.

    • What this benefit? Can’t see it mentioned anywhere.

      • It is on their website, max $100 to/& from the airport one claim per year. Fee calculated on the distance travelled.

      • Click on the deal. Scroll down to "The card that works harder for you". All the perks in there.

  • How is the $16k balance transfer compared to the $10k churn of PayAll? No extra points earn on balance transfer but of a higher amount to offset account.

For balance transfer if at minimum limit of $20k, balance transfer amount to $16k. 0% for six months i think

    • No point using balance transfer. Especially when it comes to this card. The benefit really comes from using the PayAll feature.

  • Should I lower my Amex explorer credit limit before I apply?

  • Been reading a lot of threads from other Citibank deals but got kinda confused with all the different credit cards Citibank offers.
I am going to apply for this Citibank Prestige Credit Card, pay the $350 annual fee, churn it and then cancel before October 2023 (before the fee-free PayAll deal ends)

Before I cancel, I want to apply for a Citibank credit card that preferably has no annual fees or a very low annual fee that still has the PayAll feature. So a few questions:
    1. what Citibank credit card would you recommend applying for that you would keep forever?
    2. If I have the Citibank Prestige and the new low annual fee credit card at the same time, then cancel the Prestige, would the scheduled PayAll automatic payments transfer over to the new card or do I have to set it up all over again?

  • +1

This is one of the best cards I've churned to, as a point hunter. So good, that I'll just keep using it despite the $350 fee.

The Payall method + priority pass + point conversion ratio pays for itself really. Also have used the luxury airport transfer + 4th night free feature.

As above, $10k limit can be easily hit by Payall to yourself.

    • +3

Only first year is $350, then $700 from 2nd year onwards. Have you been able to negotiate $350 annual fee?

      • +1

Brain fart. Yes, it's $700. But used enough of Priority Pass and other features to basically breakeven already.

Also been maxing out my 20k payall each month effectively giving me 240000 pts/annum extra on top of the 300k bonus.

P.s. might actually try to ask for a reduced annual fee when the time comes.

      • At this point interest on $20k will beat the $700 annual fee (not accounting for taxes).

    • Was it easy to do the 4th night free and when do they actually credit back to your account?

      • Pretty quick! T/Cs say you get it only after your stay, but I had a booking back in Dec 2022 that was paid out mid Jan 2023, and before my actual stay in Feb 2023.

    • Do you reckon the 4th night free feature beats out the Centurion/Platinum luxury hotel benefits?

Personally I find the earlier check in and later check out as having an extra day with additional benefits like free champagne, credits and minibar from AMEX to be better in $ figures.

      • No idea what the Amex value would be worth.

Just to give you an idea, I booked 4 nights at the The Apurva Kempinski Bali and got back $370. Could get more with even higher tier hotels of course.

  • Minimum salary 15k?

    • $150k

      • missing 0 :) Minimum requirement? I saw someone put up 75k got approved

        • +1

That was a previous deal. They approved me a week ago and I do not have $150k annual income.

You can try to put your application through but you literally cannot click 'next' button on the form unless your income is over $150,000. It will just keep saying error. No error message but the annual income field is red.

          • @CodeXD: Nor sure if it's worth a try, it was rejected by Citi age ago. Lower credit limits from another bank help?

        • +2

no minimum requirement though I had to apply over phone.

          Got approved in a day

  • how is this deal saving $350. is first year annual fee waived?

    • $700 is the normal annual

  • Wow, just read Citibank now accepts google pay/wallet. Happy with that as usually we put cards on wife and my phone, easier to get the spend required than sharing a physical card like we had to before.

  • +1

Citibank live chat seems to think there is no minimum income requirement and that to ensure we are entering the income in the correct field and no other fields 🙄 lol

    • What I don’t want to do though is go past the page asking for my dob etc because it’ll hit my credit file it says and then it won’t let me continue without the 150k p\y income anyways ?

      • +1

I put in fake numbers till the annual income page to test it out

        • +2

I see, I faked it and yah defs 150k, I will message live chat again tomorrow and show them the screen shot the silly buggers

  • +1

    Received my card today.

First thing I did was schedule payall of $20k to my offset account.

Since I didn't have my offset bsb/acc saved in my citibank, I decided to cancel the payall and manually sent $1 to my account first. Once this was successful, I tried to re-initiate the payall but now I am getting the error that I have reached my monthly limit.

    Payment Unsuccessful

You have reached the maximum monthly limit allowed for the selected category

I read in the previous thread that this lock takes 24 hours to clear, is this normal?

I've also had the app crash a few times on me just trying to do all these. So hopefully when it is available again, I can set reoccurring and not use the app after that.

    • $20k payall limit per month.

You manually sent $1, which means you have $19,999 remaining?

      • I used normal transfer which sent via osko. Payall requires scheduling for next week.

I even tried to send $10k and got the same error.

        • +1

I've had this kind of random lock before, you just have to wait unfortunately.

Also note there is a hidden limit where you can't use PayAll to push past 95% of your credit limit in 1 transaction.
So if your credit limit is 20k, you can only do 19k PayAll or less. You can do multiple though and pay some off in between to stay under 19k.

          • @wangasm: Thanks for this.

I saw it in previous thread and my card limit is $23k. I'll just wait it out and hope I can get my 20k points this month!

          • @wangasm: Not true. I was able to push 20k at a time and earned the 20k points. Have did this twice already,

            • @nightelves: What is your credit limit? They are saying if you are on $20k credit limit, you cannot send $20k in 1 transaction with payall.

              • @CodeXD: Credit Limit is 20k and I have sent 20k across twice now. One in January and one in Feb. This is on the Citi Prestige card btw.

                • @nightelves: Strange, I also have the Prestige and it didn't let me. Also didn't work for others

    • -4

you might get blacklisted for doing this - and unable to apply for CCs again

Any changes you make to PayAll setups, whether that be new ones or cancellations, take 24hrs/overnight to be reconciled back to the Citibank computers to take effect. It is not instantaneous like you imagine it to be given that it all takes place on a phone which is logged in to Citibank. The front end user experience is 21st Century, but the back end processing is from the Victorian era circa-1850's. When you cancel a payment, it is only cancelled in the 21st Century - which doesn't count. You have to wait for it to also be cancelled manually by a Victorian-era banker wearing a monacle, sitting at a desk with a green banker's lamp, updating the ledger with a fountain pen. This only happens in the dead of night.

  • out of curiosity has anyone been approved for this one yet? Applied for the previous deal on the 14th and uploaded payslips at the time. Still awaiting a response.

    • I signed up on 8th, approved on 10th. Received my card on 16th.

    • thanks just as an information point, i called up yesterday and they said it was still pending. I asked if there was anything more required of me and they transferred me to the team looking after it. The guy had a look and said everything was in order and that i should hear back with in 24-48 hrs.

I thought maybe it needed to be escalated so wasn't that confident but was approved this morning.

    • Applied on 16th approved today on the 21st they didn't require anything else from me.

    • approved in 5min after submitting online application.
Citi customer for around 10 years and NAB's more than that

  • +2

So I’ve mad contact with Citibank and they advised me there is not a 150k limit since NAB took over, however the website is still showing there is but if you apply over the phone you can bypass the 150k max limit

    • +4

I have been approved within 1 hour and I am on less than 150k by a fair chunk but above 100k salary..

    • +3

I spoke to Citi and they said they will fix the $150k income error on the online application by Monday. My application eventually got approved and i earn less than $150k

    • Looks like they've fixed it so the 150k limit no longer applies.

  • Anyone know how long it takes for the bonus points to appear after meeting the minimum spend?

    • For me it appeared 2 days after my second statement. I spent $7.5k within 60 days.

      • +1

Everyone on ozb with this card should be at minimum setting up payall and maxing the $20k payall limit every month.

  • wow up from 7k to 10k.

  • Anyone know if having premier card in last 12 months excludes you from going for this card (prestige)

    • It does not, even currently having the premier doesn't exclude you.

      • currently have both until i cancel the premier

  • Do you pay interest on Payall or is it interest free as long as pay off when statement due? Seem strange regulations allow $20k free cash loan every month

    • Interest free 44 days I believe

  • Question for the brains trust:

I had a Citi Qantas card that I closed in December.

Is the 6/12 month cool-down period only applicable to the Qantas rewards side? Or all Citi cards?

Eg: Is it like ANZ, which has separate cool-down periods between ANZ rewards and Qantas cards?

    Thanks :).

    • I was told via their hotline that only applied to qantas and velocity cards.

      Not Citi rewards cards

    • +1

I asked a rep over chat and they said even if you've had a Qantas card within the last few months you will still get the sign on bonus with this card.

  • anyone know what the priority pass additional guest fee is if bringing more than 1?

    • +2

My understanding is that it's the standard guest entry fee which is $USD32.

    • +1

You can try bring each guest in one hour apart. There have been reported that people have used same lounge within an hour apart.

  • Hi I applied this morning (19th of Feb) and was able to submit my application but my annual income was around 145k~. I didn't see an error when i put my annual income.

Did i screw up or is there no minimum income of 150k in place?

    • +1

Someone called citibank about this issue and they said it will be fixed by Monday. So I assume it has already been fixed if you are not getting the error.

      • +1

I just got approved for the card!

Has anyone gone through the process of increasing their credit card limit?

        Were you successful?

        • It is quick. I applied on Saturday 18/02 but did not get anything yet!

        • Has anyone gone through the process of increasing their credit card limit?

I was able to set credit card limit when I applied online.

Looks like you can change it on the citi app too.

Click on the credit card, then manage button on top right.
          Increase credit limit.
Please enter your preferred new limit. If you want to increase your limit, we may offer you a lower limit if you're not eligible for the limit requested.

          • @CodeXD: But the question is: will they make a hard credit enquiry? If so, better to get max credit limit when you apply rather than ask for an increase after..

            • @Beachberry: I applied for $23k so I can do the monthly $20k transfer and treat it as a $3k credit card limit to buy everything else haha.

            • @Beachberry: hey - did you ever find out an answer to your question @Beachberry?

  • Once you churn this card before getting hit with the $700 annual, which Citibank card would you choose to keep forever while still having access to PayAll?

    • +1

The payall at minimum gets you $1200 value per year (20k per month for 12 months = 240k) when transfered to flybuy at 1:1.

      $700 annual fee isn't bad for $1200.

Having said that, payall is available on all citi credit cards however you want to make sure to apply and receive card before October 31st 2023 so you can set up all the payall payments.

      • I would probably be looking to transfer to frequent flyer accounts like Kris Flyer, so 240k points = 96k Kris Flyer = 120k Velocity so $700 per year annual fee might not be worth it?

        • Depends if you regularly shop at Coles.

I saw in a spreadsheet that the best value for gift cards is to convert to flybuy - plus I regularly shop there so it works out for me.

        • In terms of looking purely at KF or Velocity points for the 240k Citi points, you'd probably look at either the Citi Rewards or Premier:

          Citi Rewards
          $149 annual fee
          80k KF or 96k Velocity

          Citi Premier
          $300 annual fee
          95k KF or 120k Velocity

Which is better depends on on what you use the points for.

The Prestige and Premier have the same conversion rate, but the Prestige has a better earn rate (and other benefits like Priority Pass). Which is better value for you depends on how you use the card.

In summary (as usual), the answer is it depends.

          • @JR63: @codexd Thanks guys! Much appreciated

          • @JR63: Qatar offers better redemption if you're looking at business class to Europe vs Singapore.

      • Even if it has been setup before, after 31st October won't the PayAll feature incur a fee though?

        • +2

The fee is only if you schedule payall after 31st Oct.

Anything scheduled before will incur no fee.

          • @CodeXD: wow did not know this. Would it be wise to just get a free credit card (like the citi simplicity card), as I don't need lounge pass, and just schedule payments for multiple years in advance?

            • @scyth3r: You should weigh all the options to decide whether it suits your purpose as a credit card.

I know citi cards have different conversion rates from Citi Rewards Points to others depending on the card.

An ozber has created a spreadsheet here detailing some of them but I don't see simplicity card on the list so not sure what you can convert the those points to and at what rate.

  • Has anyone had experience using priority pass with this card? Either lounge or restaurant.
Do you just need to swipe your Citi card on a terminal of some sort? Do they check your boarding pass at all?

    • +1

Used at lounges and restaurants. Signed up in the Priority Pass app and showed them the QR code in the app, which they will scan with their terminal. These days, they ask for boarding pass and enter the flight number into their terminal.

      • +2

Do they ask who your guest is? My partner and I both have priority pass. Can we elect each other as guests and receive 2x the restaurant freebie? Lol

        • +1

Don't think they really care. Sometimes, when I'm alone, they'll ask if I want to add a guest.

  • I assume you sign up to Priority Pass once you've received the card?

How long does it take to activate after you've signed up online?

    • I think there were some signup instructions that came with card. Activation should be immediate.

      • Awesome, thanks. Applied yesterday and approved today (was waiting for the re-finance settlement to go through before applying). We're off overseas late next week so hopefully it arrives in time.

        • +2

call them to ship it in express post

          • @dn4hc: Will do. Thanks for the tip!

          • @dn4hc: Ended up ariving today. 3 days after approval.

        • +1

          Visit prioritypass.com/prestigeaumc
          Enter Invitation Code: CTPRSG333
Complete the digital form, including your Citi Prestige Card details.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks mate. Saved a loooooong phone call and all the odd conversations with the operator again and again.

    • How does this PP work? can you consume as much as you want or up to a limit?

      • +1

This one's unlimited. For restaurants, you can spend $36 per person each visit. I can't remember how long you have to wait before using it at the same restaurant/lounge, though. Each place might have their own rules.

  • +1

Try to setup payall to my offset account (comm bank) …got an error saying you cant transfer to your own account….anyone encountered this?

    • I assume it's because you're trying to transfer to the account under the same name.

      • -1

Does people really achieve it by transferring to an offset account which is not under their name?
Or we can do something when we setup payall to trick them into thinking that account is not the same name?

        • I have a payall scheduled to my offset account (ANZ) in a few days. I have it set in 'rent' category and it is called 'offset'.

It will be the first payment, so hopefully it goes through. Did you encounter the error during payall set up?

          • @CodeXD: Yes…encountered the error during setup and not allowed to proceed at all.

        • +1

Yes, just use any name that isn't yours when setting it up, they have no way of verifying the account's name.

          • @wangasm: So everyone here just transfers to a 'fake name' but their own acc # and bsb?

            • @scyth3r: Pretty much. That or someone you know like partner, parent, friend etc.

  • so, with all goodies (PayAll looks crazy) this card can provide, it's still $350 annual fee for the 1st year paying during sign up, right?
Just considering because I always was using cards with $0 fee offers for the 1st year…
I used to have Prestige before Covid I think, with $0 fee..

    • the $350 is on the first statement, but also it's ~$1500 in gift cards

      https://www.rwrds.com.au/credit-cards/citi-prestige-card/gif…

      • Any idea how or where to redeem for gift cards?
On app can only use points to pay transaction

      • Or exactly $1500 in flybuys

        • whatever that means

    • For me the annual fee was charged on the last day of my first statement. So yes you can't avoid it, however the profit from the bonus points + PayAll still cancels out the fee completely.

I was also told by support that the annual fee could be refunded if no transactions were made after the annual fee is charged on closing of the card. I don't know if anyone has tried this though or if the support person is reliable.

    • There have been some reports that they refused to refund the fee, but there also some people managed get full refunded amount back.

    • Some of the higher rewards cards used to be no annual fee but this is almost non-existent in the current environment. If you keep sticking to the no fee cards, you are limiting the potential rewards. The benefit far outweighs the annual fees even converted to cash so it's leaving food on the table if you do.

      • -1

Not really. There are plenty of card that have no annual fee but offer great benefit like Westpac, HSBC, St George and Commbank. You're not even looking hard enough.

  • Does anyone know how long is the billing cycle? I assume its when the card is activated on the same date every month? And the 300k bonus points usually appear in the first billing cycle right?

  • How long did everyone's approval take? I applied on Monday night and uploaded docs straight away. Still says processing when I check the status today Wednesday midday.

    • +1

Try calling the approval line if you want to expedite it - 1800 807 138

I applied Monday afternoon. I called them Tuesday afternoon to check my application, and they told me to send through an extra payslip. Once I did that and they'd received it (I sent it and they received it while I was on the phone), it got approved 10 mins later.

      • same

      • Thanks - just got an email now to say approved (hadn't yet called/followed up)

  • not sure if anyone has noticed but the luxury escapes discount has been extended until March 2024, i've used this twice now (on the premier card though) and is pretty good.

    • Yeah. I wonder if it stacks with cash rewards. I doubt it though. But anyone tried ?

      • +1

actually i should have tried but didn't in both cases, i did receive Qantas points for the stay i have already completed though

  • +3

Applied on Friday morning, approved by afternoon and the card was delivered on Tuesday. Pretty happy with that.

    • not bahd, I got rejected and now need to wait out the usual citibank 3 months exclusions period

  • +1

Applied on Monday got approved today. Credit Limit $40,900.

    • Why that specific credit limit? Did you let them pick your maximum?

  • looks like this one is good for gift cards, not converting to FF points:
    Qantas 3:1
    Velocity 2:1

    • -1

best value is convert to flybuys points

For example, Coles $100 GC is 20,900 points, but you can get the same from flybuys by converting 20,000 points, saving of 900 points per $100.

      • It's hard comparing airline vs gift cards, because some people might value "upgrading", which may hypothetically cost a few grand extra if bought at face value.

        • Thanks for this. I meant to say best value for gift cards is to convert to flybuys but that is only if you shop at flybuys stores.

          • @CodeXD: I believe you can also redeem other gift cards from flybuys at the same rate. Namely Bunnings & TCN cards (JB etc.)

    • Not necessarily, the value from flyer points is actually better if you use it.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13333652/redir

Also this specific card does not have Qantas redemption, unless you were referring to Qatar, which it does.

      • oh, right. The above was from pointhacks and I've just checked Citi rewards store and they, indeed, dont have Qantas.
        Thanks.
So, for the best value, it's Citi Rewards-> Flybuys->gift cards, etc

  • +3

I cancelled the card after a few months, and CITI happily gave back half of my annual fee…

    • Nice, just to confirm, was that recently?

      • +1

        Less than 30days ago :D

  • I got 4 points for a purchase recently (travel) per dollar, instead of the 3 points. I assume there is some bonus I'm not sure about? I'm not complaining.

  • I applied for this credit card with a base income level of 86k yesterday. Got accepted today with a limit of 36k. Time to setup PayAll and reap the points in. Anyone know the best name for an account to transfer the name to so it doesn't set off alarm bells?

    • Use initials instead of full name - like CXD offset

      • Only bank account BSB n # needs to be correct? Bank account name doesn't have to be actual?

        • +1

Nope, banks never match up account name.

    • a base income level of 86k yesterday. Got accepted today with a limit of 36k

LOL that's totally ridiculous - as if anyone would be able to pay off a credit card debt that was close to half their salary 😁😁

      Nice work 👌

      • Agreed on it being a stupid high limit for my salary. Thankfully I'm just going to use this to take advantage of reward points with payall lol.

        • Was the limit something you set or what they automatically gave you base on info provided? You can always lower it after you receive your card.

          • @CodeXD: Automatically gave me based on the info I provided. It's not a bad thing as it means I can also use it for personal reasons while doing the PayAll 20k in and out.

          • @CodeXD: Quick question - the 20k Payall counts towards spending $10,000 for the bonus 300,000 correct?

  • +1

Has anyone try setup a Priority Pass account with name different with your Prestige card? I want set a PP account for partner with my Citi card so she can access lounges when travel alone.

    • Interested in this too… also curious if they match the name to your boarding pass at the lounge/restaurant?

      • The QR code on the app shows your name.

  • If I use the PayAll to set up the transfer of $20,000 to another bank account using BSB + Acc # every month to maximise the points earned, how to I send the money back to the Prestige card account from the other bank? Clicking on payment to Citibank and enter the credit card number?
Just to clarify, interest free period for PayAll is 44 days from the actual date of transfer?
If I have 2 Citi credit cards, I could set up PayAll on each, so $20,000 x 2 per month free as long as my credit limits allow?

    Thanks

    • +2

Never owned a credit card before? Wait for the 1st statement and they'll list the options to be pay in there. Can either setup direct debit or pay via BPay.

You need to pay by statement due date to avoid interest charge.

No. It's 20K max by account holder.

    • +1

Payall is limited to $20,000 across all accounts each month, so you will only get 1 x $20,000. Unless you had them scheduled prior to the change coming in.

  • It's been a long while since I was churning CC. Took me a little while to come back to this one, and you know what, here we go! Applied this morning. Let's see if I get approved.

  • Hi op, do we know how to redeem for giftcards?
It shows can only exchange for credit in citi app

    • Try website. It has all the options !

  • I asked rep via chat and was told that if you had this card and received reward points then there's 12 month waiting period to get the reward again which make sense like all other credit card sign up bonus.

    • Ah, so you can't just get the reward points, close the card, and then re-apply and get it again?
      Thank you.

      • This is pretty standard for credit cards. Amex enforces 18 months before you are able to get sign-on bonus.

        • I'm very new to the world of credit card churning! :-)

          • @CluelessHedgehog: Make sure you know what you're getting into - if you want to buy a home in the next few years, there are implications for your credit history.

            • @Nom: Thank you @Nom - appreciate the advice.

            • @Nom: I think you should be qualifying this as there can be implications, for others like me there were none. I had 4 or 5 credit cards open at the time of my application and had been churning for years, all i needed to do was close 2 of my cards to be approved.

this was for a home loan plus a bridging loan for up to 12 months, LVR once bridging loan was complete would have been ~50%. everyone's situation is different and even those with similar circumstances may have a different experience to me.

        • +1

          fken amex lol

    • standard, except for Amex which is 18months

  • If you transfer large amounts via PayAll to your own bank account doesn’t it have tax implications? As in, do you have to declare that amount? If so what would it be categorised under?

    • +1

My first payall has successfully been transfered to my offset account, $20k.

No email from ATO about it yet 😅

    • good question. Would like to know too.

    • +1

Wouldn't it be similar to taking out a personal loan? You're loaning the money (interest free up to 44 days) and then paying it back. You don't usually need to declare personal loans.

    • I think, ATO only checks the truth.
The truth is you are sending money to yourself.

You do not have any extra income, so no extra tax.

      • Yea but the "truth" will required to be provided with documents and via a process especially because its at least 20k a month for 8 months = $160k is what I'm saying and that process could turn out to be a nightmare not that you'd necessarily be taxed on this 160k.

        • keep the both statements (citi and target bank account) should be enough documents, to prove that it is your own money

  • that's weird. It's a high class card with lots of perks but it looks like it doesn't have a rental car excess cover..

    • Other cards that have this benefit, its usually for use within Australia only which sucks :(

      • hm.. I'm pretty sure it was included in other CC International/Interstate travel insurance (spend XX amount on International travel or pay for interstate flight tickets by that CC)
upd. Browsing ANZ site and apparently they changed policy during covid…

    • Only for interstate and international travel. Bendigo Bank have a fee-free card that includes rental excess cover so might be worth getting that one too

  • Does anyone know where I can find a list of participating hotels for the 4th night free benefit?

    • Should be any on Expedia as that's what they use to book it on your behalf.

      • Thanks! Are their prices similar to Expedia in your experience?

        • +1

For me, it was exactly the same.

  • Right. I was approved. The approval email does say payall at 2% though. Same for everyone I guess?

  • Have an active citi rewards card.
Opened chat yesterday to ask if I would be eligible for bonus points with Citi Prestige Credit, which was confirmed. So applied yesterday and got approved today.

    • I think I've read it's a few days after the first statement is generated after you meet the minimal spend.

        • Have you received the bonus points?

            • @nomnomnom: The first statement will appear 31 days after you receive your welcome email (roughly)

          • @nomnomnom: Did you get your statement and the points at the same time? I've gotten my statement this morning but no bonus points as of yet.

        • updates. Just confirm with Citi Support, the bonus points will be sent 6-9 weeks after the promotion ends. So three months later.

      • Just got my first statement and I met minimum spend via Payall. Haven't received the points yet though.

    • Very nice, I'm looking to apply for this card but don't have a mortgage or anything super-big to meet the minimum spend —- just wanna get the points and run.

So is that how you meet the min spend of 10K on this card is it, by sending 10K (via PayAll) to another bank account, then waiting for 300k bonus points to land then transferring the 10K money back to this Citi card to pay it off?

  • How many Qantas points is 300,000 Citi points? Thanks

    • With this card, zero. Can't convert the Citi points to QFF points.

If you want QFF points, you need to look at the Qantas version of this card which gives 100k bonus points with $7.5k spend in 60 days:

      • Thanks JR63
Fees are too high. Hopefully there will be some specials soon.

Hi, just received my prestige card today. I actually applied for it with the previous deal for $7,500 spending.
Looking at the key facts letter enclosed with the credit card, it did say the minimum credit limit is $30,000 while the webpage says it is $20,000. Has anyone seen this?

    • I noticed the same thing but I can see my credit limit is $23k (that I set myself).

  • When does citi do 15% promo any ideas?

    • +1

The Velocity promo is usually May (e.g. Citi to Velocity).

  • I was approved for this card a few days ago. However, I realised this morning that since I already have Virgin Money's Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card (applied and received last month), I'm not sure if I'm eligible for the 300k bonus points, since Virgin Money cards are administered by Citi.

As discussed by others, the terms and conditions of the Citi Prestige Credit Card aren't clear:

Does anyone know whether existing Virgin Money cardholders are eligible for Citi-branded credit card sign-up bonuses? Yes, I should have asked before signing up, but hindsight is 20/20.

    • +1

You should be fine. The only thing that excludes you from this promo is if you have held the exact same card (Prestige) within the last 12 months. This means you are still eligible even if you hold other Citibank cards (Premier, Rewards). I've gotten both Prestige and Premier bonuses within a month of each other.

      • Sorry, have looked through the T&Cs and can't find any exclusion for having held the Prestige card in the last 12 months. Can you direct me to where you saw this?

        • Unfortunately it's not quite clear from the T&C's and had to be confirmed with someone from support
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13432107/redir

          • @wangasm: yeah ok thanks, appears the T&Cs don't align with the information provided over the phone. Still not sure i'd be game to try and take them on, more hassle than it's worth if they don't pay and you need to raise a complaint and potentially escalate to AFCA.

      • Where is 12 months stated?

        • It's not written anywhere, but rather verbally confirmed. Whether you trust that or not is up to you. But this is a standard rule used by most credit providers (except Amex)

    • Virgin Money cards are administered by Citi

      Technically, it's NAB now.

Although the VM cards are administer by Citibank/NAB, they are operated under VM branding. Same with cards from Coles, Suncorp, Kogan, BoQ etc.
Hence, you'll be fine if they approved your application.

  • I have read through the thread here but I dont have a clear answer on this one , when you try to setup a Payall and it says you cant send it to your own account is that some really basic check they have done if the name you give is your name ? Has anyone succesfully done this sending to their own account or are they sending it to a spouse and back etc. just out of curiosity

    • In Australia, banks do not match the names against the account numbers so no way Citibank confirm whether the account name is genuine even though you use fake name.

      • Ya but its doing something because when I set it up , it is literally prompting me saying you cannot send to your own account so i can use a fake name with my account details you reckon?

        • I am using my own name in that attempt to setup the payall

          • @bwill85: Why do you use your own name? You clearly say to Citibank that you are breaching t & c.

          • @bwill85: use your initials

            BW85 Account

            • @CodeXD: Ya I just used something generic ,its fine I wasnt really thinking about when first tried / wasnt sure if Account name was part of cross check , cheers

      • -1

I tried to transfer to a shared account (that has my name in the account name), but didn't include my name in the citibank transfer part. Still got rejected. I think there are ways they can determine the account name.

  • I have a question. I have just setup a 20k Payall to go through every month on the 11th. How do I get this money back onto the card before the 11th of next month? Obviously I need to transfer it back to this card before this date however I have no payment options as the first statement hasn't come through.

    • Log onto citibank on desktop, and then click on the credit card.

You'll see (even if you have never received a statement before):

      Last statement issued date:

I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for my first statement so I know when/how to transfer the money back into my citi account.

      • Yep - same boat. I hope it comes prior to the next Payall payment coming out as there won't be enough money in the account lol.

      • +4

You can Bpay from your saving/transaction account to your credit card. Citibank biller code is 49502 and the ref is your cc number. Test run with $1. It will showup in your cc account in 2 days.

    • Note that you have 44 days interest free, so your statement is always issued 2 weeks before payment is due. For example, if your period starts on the 1st March, your statement will be issued on the 31st March with a payment due date of 14th April. In this example, PayAll of 11th each month wouldn't be the best and something like the 19th would be better.

      • How does that work exactly? If my period starts on 1st of March and I organized for 20k PayAll out on the 11th of March (it transferred out to my account on the 8th) I should get my statement by the 31st of March. From there I can transfer the entire balance back into Citibank through BPAY on the 5th of April (3 days prior to Payall transferring again to my account). Thus Payall would transfer me 20k again on the 11th of April which means roughly 25-26 days of interest earning.
Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere.

        • +1

Sorry I confused myself and was meant to put the 5th as the optimal PayAll date. But 11th is probably fine as well.

          • @wangasm: Thanks for the clarification haha, had me worried for a sec.

        • Hi mate, I got confused with how it works. Could you please explain that again?

          • If my period starts on 1st of March, my statement closes on 31st of March, my due date is 14th of April.
          • Should I organise PayAll out before or after 14th of April, assuming I pay the entire balance before the due date?
          • If I pay the closing balance on 5th of April and organise PayAll out on 8th of April (all before the due date of March period), does it still count as not paid for March period (since I would still own $20k on 14th of April) or does it count as new transaction for April period (since the transaction is made on April and I already made a repayment transaction for March)?
          • Or is it better just to pay the closing balance on 12th of April and setup PayAll on 16th monthly?

          Thanks!

          • @kelvin-200: If your due date is 14th, schedule the payall for 17th.

You will pay back the payall the same date you pay off your closing balance so it works out perfectly.

            • @CodeXD: Thank you!

              • +1

@kelvin-200: Perhaps nobody is looking at this anymore, just a note for anyone having the same question: as long as the closing balance of the previous month is paid in full, it's OK to PayAll $20k again, it doesn't have to wait after due date. I have tried it on my card.

E.g., your card monthly period is from 1/6 to 30/6, and your due date is 14/7, it's ok to pay closing balance on 5/7 and PayAll on 8/7 (factored in bank transaction delay to be safe) since the PayAll transaction will count on the next statement.

  • Datapoint; applied 10pm last night, approved 12pm today. Nil phone calls, nil questions asked. Nice

    • Same for me. Pretty quick turnaround I’d say!

      • I was surprised as well with the credit limit over $30K

  • Does anyone know why I am not seeing payall option in schedule transfer in my online account ? Also it does allow transfer for BPay only.

    • +1

I couldnt find it on desktop, but I can see it on the citi app.

    • It's in the app only

      • Aah. Citi app keep complaining that my phone is rooted but I haven't rooted or jailbroken my phone. Turned off adguaed but still no luck

  • This card seems really good for those with a mortgage with offset account, doesn’t it? You can just set up a PayAll transfer to your offset account on the first day and will both:
    - Meets the $10k spend instantly, earn 300k points ~ $1.1k profit
    - Enjoy $20k sitting in your offset account for a year, saving another $1k with the current rate 5% (need to do a transfer in and out for a day when the credit card payment is due every month though)

Bonus point if you have a partner who can apply for the same card i.e. double dipping!

Am I missing something or it’s truly that great?

    • +1

      That's what I'm doing now.

Just got my first statement and the due date is coincidently, the same date that I have payall scheduled for.

You have to be on top of your spending and repayment tho, if you miss just one you'll get slapped with 21.49% p.a interest rate on the $20k.

      • Yeah that’s right. I probably will set up my repayments one day ahead just for the peace of mind.

        • You would need to have enough fund in you account at least 3 days before the scheduled PayAll day.

Eg. If your PA is on the 3rd, then you must have the money by at least on the 1st before 5pm.

          • @timhn: Could you please explain why? Can’t I just transfer the money to my linked Citi transaction account and then transfer from that linked account to the card the day before? Some banks like ANZ would update the credit card balance instantly if the money is transferred from a linked account, but maybe there are some delays with the Citi card?

            • @GreenRomeo: Citi will deduct the PayAll amount from the card 3 days before the scheduled PayAll date to ensure it arrives in the destination account on time. On the rare occasion it seems it may come out earlier or later but they normally email you about this (Something else you need to be on top of).

              • @wangasm: Thanks, I didn’t know it. Will keep an eye on this.

  • Anyone else getting random SMSes from citibank to be able to redeem some reward points and get a statement credit? Is it legit (it contains a link from a message from a bank, which is big no-no), and is it worth it?

    • Yep it is legit. I made a payment of $20 and I received an SMS asking if I want to redeem 5k points to pay it off.

It wasn't worth it in my case because if I convert the points to flybuys at 1:1, it only takes 4k points for $20.

  • With a statement date of the beggining of the month and a "Payment Due Date" of the 16th of the month, what dates are recommended for the PayAll debit and the returning credit card payment, taking into account Citibank's wacky dates where the PayAll usually doesn't happen on the day you suspect?

PayAll on the 17th and transfer from other bank account, back on the 12th (allowing for weekends, public holidays, Citibank wackiness, etc.)?

    • This is how i setup my PayAll.

      • Thanks - that link doesn't seem to work, for me at least.

        • It was pointed to my comment above.

You would need to have enough fund in you account at least 3 days before the scheduled PayAll day.

Eg. If your PA is on the 3rd, then you must have the money by at least on the 1st before 5pm.

  • Didn't pay attention to the fact the date changed from 60 to 90, thought I was all good.
Ended up missing the bonus points and therefore $350 annual fee for nothing aha
Don't make mistakes like I did.

    • Isn't it better that it is 90 since it gives you more days to meet the minimum spend?

If you're sending $20k per month using Payall, you should already be within the spend.

    • Not sure how this made you miss the deadline?
Or did you not read the increased amount $7500 to $10000? And is that what made you miss the deadline (because you thought min. spend was less).
It was quite clear to me when I signed up what min spend was - written in big font.

    • Sometime between when I signed up and recently, I checked rwrds again and thought it was always a 90 day time limit. Been just over 60 days, realised it changed and the livechat are telling me promotions are valid from when signed up on the day, so it'll stick at 60 and can't be extended

      • Oh I see, damn that hurts.

      • That's a shame…

That means you also haven't been taking advantage of the payall feature of this card!

      • Make the money back by PayAlling back to yourself each month

  • is my understanding correct? we can just do the payALL $10K to meet the spending requirement to get the bonus points of 300K?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • i dont see much of point transfer partners, only 6 airlines, thought it would have Hilton or IHG

  • Citi online banking and app is seriously buggy. After having app all setup and working with faceID to login, it suddenly locked me out. No option to login with password or anything, just error. Online banking on PC also won’t work now, presumably from multiple failed login attempts on app. Contacted support and they unlocked my account, reset everything and still not possible to login. The call centre just scratch their heads and say “I’m not sure”

    • Mine had a lock placed on it by security team, call centre figured it out when I suggested it as a possibility. Painful process.

    • +1

Try installing bitmart or binance app on android, it will then say your phone is rooted..
Only found out after having uninstall dozens of apps trying to find what the issue was.
      (Phone isn't rooted btw)

    • +1

Same thing happened. It was cos the security team put a block on my account as they saw my first payall transaction was for $20k. They thought it was a scam or something.

Called customer service 3 times and they tried to connect me to security, but security team was so busy, requested callback twice. No calls received.

At this point I almost wanted to cancel the card cos of a buggy app and bad customer and security service. Decided to call security again after 6pm. My call was picked up after a few rings and account unblock in 5 mins. After unblocking, the app login works again

  • For those wondering about priority pass: it was possible in Sydney to go to 2 locations. I didn't try adding a guest , since I didn't have one.
(A few days ago the lady in Melbourne asked the person ahead of me who the guest was and to provide flight details.)
Let's hope they don't charge your card if they see you went to two locations for same flight …

    • You can go to multiple locations on the same day, for the same flight.

      • Was just wondering if this is in line with T&C's or if it's a loophole

        • This is not loophole. Nothing in T&Cs said limit to 1 place / day.

  • Got rejected as a contractor, >150k income. Is it because I have an active credit card with another company? I was looking to churn cards.

    • +2

Hard to pinpoint tbh. I have an income over $100k but not close to $150k and already have a $15k limit card with ANZ which I declared. Approved within 3 hours of applying and only supplied a single payslip.

      • Wow, I've got a 28k limit with ANZ as well. I might try call them up and see. Thanks for your reply.

        • You would be wasting your time because they won't tell you the reason, just remember that you have to wait three months before applying again.

  • After paying yourself using your initials or whatever, is it advisable to send the money to another bank before bpaying back to citi so they don't see it coming back from the same bank account, or is this unnecessary?

    • They wouldn't know the transaction for what account from external bank. That's apply to all banks in the world. Unless the government request that information from the sending bank.

  • +1

FYI - the $150k min income requirement is gone. Applied today and did not have to put a higher income as others suggested. Approved within 3 hours.

  • Just wondering , can I payall $20k to an account and then I can balance transfer this amount to another credit card with 0% fees for the next 18 months ? That way I can slowly pay it off and use this money into buying a new car or house etc ?

    • What? It's just a transfer into a bank account. You can do whatever you want with it. You also do need to repay it or cop the high interest rates after the interest free period ends…

    • Yes

  • How do people set up monthly transfers using PayAll? When you pay off the Citibank card, are you scheduling BPay which takes a while? Rotating between offset and PayAll so want to optimise days it takes to land money

    • I do the BPay manually since it's hard to schedule BPay payments without sacrificing some days because your PayAll deduction doesn't always come out the same day every month (it's subject to weekends, holidays, Citi randomness etc.).

  • Hey. In which site do I book a hotel to avail the 4th night free terms and conditions ?
    I couldn't log into Thankyou.com

but they need to book on your behalf

  • Finally my three months block-out is over and applied for it yesterday and approved today.

  • I just tried to apply a linked Diners card but said it's ineligible. Did anyone manage to get a linked Diners to their Prestige card? Thanks.

    • I called up, and they were able to process one after a bit of discussion.

      • What’s the benefit of getting a diners club card added?

        • +1

Earn more points using Diners card but only a handful of merchants locally and may have higher surcharge. Woolies and Coles accept without surcharge.

I got better exchange rates using Citi linked Diners vs 28degrees in Japan 5 years ago so hoping to use Diners again in Apr.

        • +1

The Diners card earns 2 points/$ for transactions instead of as low as 1 point/$ for the Citi card.

You can also link the Diners card to Paypal, which means you can earn 2 points/$ for those transactions instead of 1 point/$.

The Diners card generally has a better conversion rate (fee free, but uses their own conversion rate) than the 3% fee on the Citi card.

          • @JR63: Thanks. This sounds worthwhile requesting for then.

            • @recession1: The international conversion rate isn't as good as the MasterCard/Visa rate though. It's ~1-2% from what I've read, just fyi.

  • If i cancel my citi card does the priority pass still work for the 12 months

    • no

      • Interesting they are a different company and different memberships, wonder how they link. All good thanks. When i used it at the airport they don't ask to see the card only scan Priority pass barcode

        • +2

Haven’t tested Citibank however with westpac it was canceled in the same month.

          • @dn4hc: this is probs enough for me to see it wont work, Thanks for the info

        • +2

I believe PP probably charge to Citibank and they get a successful transaction or not. Like how you use you CC to pay something and if your card got locked or not enough fund in it, the transaction will get declined.

  • Is this the highest points bonus Citibank card?

  • Can anyone recommend the highest interest savings account to put the 20k in? I'm putting it in a commbank savings account atm but it's kinda piss poor 1.85% interest.

  • Just want to confirm my understanding of the PayAll feature is correct, regarding this clause for this card:
“For Citi PayAll payments set up from 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023, the Citi PayAll fee is reduced to 0%. T&Cs apply.π”

So if I set up a recurring PayAll with no end date (or an end date say 10 years in the future), before 31 OCT. 2023, I do not have to pay any Citi PayAll fee for the scheduled payments that occurs even after 31 OCT. 2023, is that correct?

    Thank you

    • +1

Payall have maximum end date of 2 years. So you'll need to set up additional ones starting from current + 2 years. Then current +4 years and so on. Capped at 10 years iirc.

      • Thank you, so pretty much this 0% fee would apply only till 31 OCT 2025, would that be a correct understanding?

        • +3

No, you can go for 10 years.

For example on 30th Oct 2023, you create the following payall:

          • 15th Nov 2023 to 15th Oct 2025
          • 15th Nov 2025 to 15th Oct 2027
          • 15th Nov 2027 to 15th Oct 2029
          • 15th Nov 2029 to 15th Oct 2031
          • 15th Nov 2031 to 15th Oct 2033
          • @CodeXD: If I cancel this card, then wait for a week and apply the Premium card, will these scheduled payments remain the same or you will need to set them up again?

            • @GreenRomeo: I don't see any reason why they would not cancel scheduled payments when you cancel your card.
You would also not agree if they would come asking you to pay for charges on your cancelled card.

I have 2 cards and was prompted to select which card I wanted it to be taken from.
So pretty confident you'll have to set it up again.

              • @johnmelb: Thanks for confirmation. I’ll make sure to set the payments again when I get the Premier card for long term use.

          • @CodeXD: Wow. Is this real or payall no fees ends on October 23?

            • @pyramid:

For Citi PayAll payments set up from 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023, the Citi PayAll fee is reduced to 0%. T&Cs apply

Also discussed here if you're interested

              • @CodeXD: It doesn't say recurring payment. So just confuse if I should setup 2yrs wortht of payment before 31st October to avoid fees.

                • +2

@pyramid: Click on my link above. The first dot point:

                  • Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.
  • Just had my application declined. Strong income/credit scores with no active credit cards opened and one mortgage which I'm well ahead.

Shame really so not sure what their target market is. Reckon it's worth calling to get them to review or will they likely say sorry can't share the reason for decline etc etc.

    Anyone got a declined overturned?

    • I don't think it hurts to call their application line to ask (1800 807 138), at worst they'll say they can't tell you.

Was it an immediate decline? Otherwise clean credit history without multiple applications for CCs?

      • Just called them and got transferred twice. They can't specify the reason which doesn't make sense as how would I know if it's a data entry error or the assessor made a mistake?

The girl said to send a written letter via post in order to get a re-assessment or further information as to why it was declined. That to me is extremely backwards and not a great experience with Citi.

Clean credit, no multiple cc application.

        • Seems in keeping with what I've heard about Citi customer service unfortunately.

        • The only option is to wait three months and try your luck again, they won't tell you the reason. I have been through this twice now.

        • The girl said to send a written letter via post in

Don't bother, but if you wanted, can try online page here.

  • Am on a hair above $100k and was approved when applying for minimum credit amount ($20k)

  • +1

Can you downgrade this card to the Premier card before October 2023, so you can still get the points but pay half the annual fee?

  • I have both a Citi Plus transaction account and a Prestige card. Does anyone know if paying a credit card balance from Citi Plus is considered paid on that day? The screen said the transfer may take up to 1-2 days. I am not sure if the transfer made on the due date is still considered paid.

    • Why not send something small across like $2 and see if it immediately increases the available credit on the prestige? That's a sure way to test.

      • I did. It shows as pending on the credit card transaction list. It did increase available credit but did not reduce the current balance.

    • Yes. Within Citibank network, it's instantly. The screen is just default message.

Source : I have been doing that with this deal as it's faster to transfer from my non-citibank account to CitiPlus.

      • Fantastic. Thanks.

  • Question: card received, activated, and payall set up. How do you transfer money back to Citi? I can't see any BSB/Acc Number. Or does it mean it can pay through the monthly statement when it's ready?

    • Yes the monthly statement when it is available. Make sure you have enough in your account at minimum 3 days before the payall (you'll receive SMS and email from citi about this too).

If you really must pay it back early you can use:

      Biller Code: 49502
      Reference: <your credit card number>

Biller code source (click on How do I use BPAY to pay my Citibank Account?)

You can send $1 to your account and make sure it works before paying the $20k

  • I had applied for the card last month while making my partner as supplementary and I just realised we are actually sharing the credit limit. Does anyone know if I could cancel her supplementary card and get her to apply one individually? Is she still be eligible for the 300,000 points?

    • +1

      Yes. She will be eligible.

  • -2

This sucks and I thought it was $20k per card.

A cardholder can make up to $20,000 (subject to available credit) in Citi PayAll transactions each calendar month across all Citi branded Credit Cards.

    • across all citi branded credit cards

If it was per card then it would say per card…

      • I know that now, I didn't check the details.

  • anyone try to double dip the luxury escape? combine payment 10% luxury escape code + majority of the balance on discounted giftcard + citibank prestige?

just looked at a booking I had at the beginning of the year where i had $2 left over from a gift card, see details below but the 10% was on the subtotal and the $2 credit applied after discount. not sure if it will work if applying a new gift card at the time of booking.

if i recall correctly, you can only use 1 Citi discount code per booking though.

  • I got approved, my first time collecting velocity points, once I get the points do i need to transfer them to velocity?

    • +1

Yep. They sometimes do bonuses for transferring (traditionally in early May), so worth looking out for that too.

      • Any bonuses for transferring to flybuys in previous years?

  • My Citibank prestige card will be due for annual fee in few months time. I don't intend to pay the full annual fee of $700.

I haven't intend to finish using up all my bonus points I received. I want to keep it for krisflyer, but don't want to transfer to Krisflyer as it expires in 3 years.

Can i apply for another lower fee Citibank rewards card? After that cancel the prestige card. Hoping if the rewards points that I accumulated in Citibank will still be in my same account?

    Thanks for your enlightenment.

    • +1

The points are tied to the card, not the account. So they are gone as soon as you cancel the card.
There's no issue applying for a different card, you'll want the Premier for the same Krisflyer conversion rate. You could try ask if you can transfer the points to your new card but unsure if they'll let you.

      • I wonder if any OZB peeps have tried calling to ask if they could transfer the points to the new card and combine the rewards point successfully. If that's possible, opening this new credit card https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757285 at $49 fee first year, then combine the rewards from prestige card, close the prestige card. Saving on the $700 fee.

    • +2

perhaps wait to see if there is a velocity bonus in May like last year. worked out slightly ahead transferring to velocity and then to Kris last time. Then you can keep it in velocity until you need it, obviously there are risks if velocity and Kris cancel transfers.

    • +1

I don't intend to pay the full annual fee of $700.

This card might be a keeper for me:

      Payall - $20K/year @4.5% equals around $900 or around $540 after tax
240K+ points (from Payall) is 96K Kris points or $1.44K @1.5c/point
Priority Pass Prestige: $469 USD worth
      $100 transport
      4th night hotel free night

      • That is assuming payall stays fee free.

        • Anything set up before Oct 2023 will stay free. After that it will attract 2%. So in September set up 20K transfer for 1 year; you be fine for at least 12 months. Citi extended this few times already.

    • +2

I closed my Citi platinum card last year and they were able to transfer my points to my Signature card. Just call and request.

  • How long does it take to get the card? Been waiting a week now

    • +1

It took like 10 days to receive it.

      • sheesh we've been waiting for some time as well (a week), was hoping to receive it this week so we can use it for some big purchase.

        • Don’t worry, will still work for big purchases after this week

  • -1

Just logged in and my 330000 points are gone.
Hope it's just an error and that it will be automatically corrected.
Both my card points just show 0 points.
    Anybody else having issues?

    • I just logged in on desktop. I can see my points ~340k

      • It's an issue with app and website.
I can only see my points again when I click through to "redeem" then they appear again.

    • Issue is resolved now.

  • Is anyone literally just recycling the cash on loop taking them citi for 19/20k rewards points each cycle ? It is the equiv of $100 GC card every time but I suppose you will be spotted and closed doing that quickly?

  • I'm stumped by payall date. My statement date is 8th so had setup payall for 12th. But now payall deducted money on 6th so it'll turn up in my statement and need payit back by 24th. What's optimal way of setting payall now. @CodeXD

    • Is the 8th when you get your statement or when statement is due?

      • That's when I get statement. It seems long weekend with 2 public holidays screwed my calculations

        • Sounds like the Easter long weekend has messed this up for a lot of people and will probably continue to do so looking at Easter schedule for next 10 years.

          https://www.theholidayspot.com/easter/easter_dates.htm

Since your statement is due on 24th, why not schedule your payall on say 27th since it will ensure you will always have enough money in your account (assuming you will always be paying it off before due date). If due to any reason it is taken out early, you will still be some buffer since you'll be paying it off before the actual date.

Payall will never be after the date you scheduled so you're safe ensuring you get the $20k points each month.

          • +1

@CodeXD: I was thinking on similar line to schedule it after due date. Thanks for replying

  • How long does PayAll take to transfer to another bank?

    • +1

It will arrive in the bank on the date you schedule it, at the latest. But it will deduct the funds from your card 3 or more days earlier.

  • I have about 400K points. Does any one know whats the best value for money to redeem? I am tossing between gift cards or business class flight. What is everyone doing?

    • Flybuys 1:1 is better value than gift cards if you shop regularly at Coles.

    • You could wait until May to see if there's any Velocity transfer sale.

Even if you claim economy flights, it could still be worth it (it was in our case). We spent 45k Avios each (135k Citi points) on one way economy flights from Dublin to Melbourne on QR, flights that would've cost $2400 each because we don't have flexibility with a wedding and work.

Ends up being worth equivalent to 7c/Velocity point.

    • FlyBuys with FlyPay at coles online. You can redeem 10k ($50) per shop. Click and collect or $2 delivery (or free delivery over $250).

  • To use PayAll you can only use the schedule date it gives you not any earlier?

    • +1

Need to set it up minimum 7 days in advance.

      • +1

And the money withdraw from your CC at least 3 days before the scheduled date - or earlier if the date fall into public holiday or weekend.

  • I canceled this month payall thought to reschedule it with a different date after due date, however it keeps on saying i have reached the monthly limit?
My prev payall was in 21 march, Im stucked for days so decided to make the full payment today, hoping it will let me schedule one for this month 24April, Anyone encounter the same and care to share what you do to resolve this?

    • +3

Cancelling any PayAll will trigger a 24-48 hour lock on any new schedules. Try again tomorrow.
In the future you should create the new one before cancelling the old one.

      • Cheers, After my full payment through today i tried again and it works this time, was afraid i might miss this month payall to maximise the points.

  • What's the fastest way to pay back the balance in order to maximise the amount of days you keep the Payall balance in your account? BPay?

    • I BPay on Saturday and it took my money out instantly hence reducing my interest in account yet because of Easter holidays it didn't hit my Citibank today so my Payall got declined. I think Osko would be a better option.

Just wondering if Payall is declined today, will it attempt a 2nd time in few days or do I need to waste 7 days scheduling another Payall? Are their any consequences with a declined Payall except it not going through on the day intended?

    • +3

Open a transaction account called Citi Plus for free, then PayID to Citi Plus then internal transfer to Prestige card. It takes less than a minute.

      • Note that many banks have daily limits for PayID transfers, some as low as $1000 per day (eg. Virgin, BOQ, ING)

        • Osko payment from ANZ/NAB to Citibank is instant.

        • I have PayIDed from CBA and the limit was 50k and was an instant transfer. Didn't know that some banks have such low limit.

      • Yep alright, so transferring from the Plus into the Credit Card account is pretty instant regardless of whether it's a business day or not? Cheers!

        • From my experience it's always instant from the Plus account regardless of what day it is.

      • Hey. When I transfer from Macquarie bank to citibank transaction plus account using a payID, I noticed that it reflects immediately on citibank side as 'on deposit' but takes a day to be moved to 'available' . Any Idea why this is ?

        • Macquarie has a PayID transfer limit of 10k per day. If you're transferring more than this then it will transfer as a normal bank transfer.

If it's happening with amounts smaller than this then I'm not sure why, it's always been instantly available for me (I don't use Macquarie for transfers).

          • @wangasm: I was only transferring 1k each. Its not the first transaction either. Looks like every time its happening

      • Hi mate, Citi Plus is not available anymore since NAB took over. Is there an alternative with NAB?

    • So is BPAY the fastest way to pay back balance as Citi is not offering new transaction account anymore? BPAY still takes around 3 days to clear.

  • +1

For anyone who interested to get the annual fees refunded, I have called up Citi, asked for credit card account closure and also checking if they would refund the $350 annual fees in partial. The rep consulted her manager and advised that I will have $260 refunded in cheque.
My card was approved in early Jan and I put the closure request today 12-April.

    • Why dont you maximise the 20k payall every month?

      • Now I only learned that way. Too late, but it's ok. Cheers

        • +1

And you of course also lose out on the lounge access.

  • Can I pay registration or any bills with Citibank cards that will count towards the spend?

  • Citi Prestige is discontinued in US and this card being the only one with unlimited lounge entries PLUS food voucher. Wondering if I should keep it even for 700/yr now :)

    • I think it is well worth the annual fee. I went to two places in the same airport terminal and my food bill (bringing one guest) was already $150 on that day alone.20k points from PayAll every month alone pays off the annual fee, so the lounge/restaurant visits are basically free.

      • We don't know if PayAll would continue to be free after Oct 2023 but yes the lounge benefit is too good to pass.

        • I know.. but anything you set up before Oct this year is fee-free. Many including myself have already set up for another decade.

          • @hiaaron: Oh! I wasn't aware of that! Will just set it up right now.
Even without that I felt like 700/yr was worth it and looking at how things are going (Citi Plus, Global Currency accounts discontinued) I'm pretty sure this card would also be discontinued pretty soon.

          • @hiaaron: Just to clarify, you setup multiple one-off transactions for each month until say 2032 ?

            • @expatOz: No, it will be too many. You can set up multiple recurring transactions, each for monthly for two years.

              • @hiaaron: Sorry … so if they're monthly recurring transactions, why 2 years?

                • +1

@expatOz: The app is only allowed to setup the end date 2 years in future. But you can do several times

                  • -1

@timhn: Looks like they've closed the loophole of creating multiple future recurring transactions:

"The date on which the first payment is to be made must not be less than 7 business days from the date the Citi PayAll payment is set up."

                    • @expatOz: That comment is talking about it can't be less than 7 business days from setting up.
It's not talking about transactions further in the future.

                    • @expatOz: What dates are you trying to set it up for? Make sure you have the correct year

  • Wondering if car rego should be paid directly by card or as BPAY to get the points?

    • You can get points if you add it to beem it account and bpay there.

      • Darn, I thought so :( I just paid directly via CC

        • use their linked diners card?

  • I bought something off ebay from US using paypal they charge $13 international fee that sucks

    • +2

This card doesn't offer 0% currency conversion fees, you should've known that :)

    • should always stick to ebay.com.au even if the same item is available in ebay.com.

The foreign transaction fee is a % of your order so working backwards the item was ~$383?

This card has never been advertised as no foreign transaction fee.

  • I have a question about the Payall fee. For transactions set up to occur after 31th Oct, will there be a fee of 2% regardless of when its set up?

    • For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%:

      • I called Citi, the customer service said there will be a fee for transactions set to occur after 31 oct 2023. that's why I am a bit confused.

        • The wording is very specific and people will 100% fight back if they charge fee for PayAll payments set up prior to 31st Oct but occur after the date.

          • @CodeXD: how do you interpret this term, "This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur."

            • +2

              @UltimateSAVER:

Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

    • Yeh I got mine changed easy through online chat, no questions asked.

  • If you spend $10k early (before 90 days) do you get the points straight away or do you have to wait until 90 days?

Mine came with the first statement

      • Damn I just got my first statement and didn’t get the 300k sign up points yet. Put through payall of $10k and that’s on there though :(

        • +1

For me, the bonus points were not visible on my first statement, however my balance was updated in the points a few days after.
Now, the 300k points are mentioned in the second statement.

So I'm assuming you only just got your statement, and would suggest to wait a few days.
(My partner is currently in the same boat - only payall payment, first statement, still waiting for 300k bonus points.)

          • @johnmelb: Thank you! Yes I can see the 300k in my account now - phew

        • You will get the points tomorrow or the day after

    • Yeah, it was the first statement after I hit the bonus too (which is probably the first one if you're utilising PayAll).

FYI. Just came back from Japan and can confirm the exchange rate is better than XE when using the Citibank linked Diners card. I have received my statement and all transactions AUD amount was less than the XE AUD amount which I have screenshot on the day of transaction. Best rate I got was 91.89, lowest 90.07.

Not sure if the favourable exchange rate may be applicable for certain countries like Japan.

I have some transactions using Latitude card and the AUD on each of the transactions was more than the XE AUD amount.

I also withdrawed some cash locally using Citi Plus and the rate is the worse compared to Diners and Latitude.

    • I also withdrawed some cash locally using Citi Plus and the rate is the worse compared to Diners and Latitude.

did u have to pay the withdrawal fee from 7/11?

      • Is cash withdrawal still fee free between 7am to 7pm from 711?

      • I withdraw from SMBC in Sapporo and it charged me 220 yen. I didn't try 7 Bank ATM but heard there is no fees (I could be wrong).

        • I withdrew from 7Eleven atm and the rates were 0.7% off XE and no fees. Did Diners charge you a fee for withdrawal?

    • So use diners to pay and withdraw?
Do you pay currency conversion fees for diners?

      • Diners or Latitude for purchases only and these 2 credit cards don't have conversion fee as long as the amount charged is in JPY. I notice there was an option to charge in AUD when using Latitude (MasterCard) but Diners had no option and is charged in JPY which makes it ideal and preferred card for me.

I used Citi Plus to withdraw cash at ATM.

        • Thank you! Will come in handy soon when I go to Japan!

        • Wait are you sure there no foreign transaction fees for Diners when used in Japan?

          • @nightelves: Yes, my statement shows no foreign transaction fees for the Citi linked Diner Club card.

            • @ShowMeDMoney898: Freak if only I knew. Was in Japan two weeks ago would have earned a ton of bonus points 😭😭😭

              • @nightelves: I've seen some great Japan flight sales recently…you can go again and utilise Diners 😁

            • @ShowMeDMoney898: Can I ask how this work? Like if I have a Citi Prestige do I have to apply through Diner Club and link it? Never looked into Diner.
I was about to open a Citi Plus account for travel to Japan. Is linking the Diner a better option to earn points?

              • +1

@1bargain: Log into your Citibank profile - card service or something like that. There should be a link to apply for a Linked Diners Club (DC) card. I had trouble applying with my Prestige card but I already had a DC linked to my Citi Platinum years ago. This DC card does not affect credit ratings bcoz it is simply linking to your exciting Prestige account and credit limit. Yes, DC will earn points but the benefit is best exchange rate with no fees.

Citi Plus is beneficial for cash withdrawal where as DC is for purchasing at restaurants, train tickets, department store, theme parks and etc.

                • @ShowMeDMoney898: Thanks for your reply. I went onto DC website and it said it’s not available for new customers.

I just applied for Citi Plus before it closed the door for new accounts. Hopefully, it will be grandfathered for a while. They ask lots of questions like employment, it’s almost like going for a credit card.

                  • @1bargain: No, you don't apply via DC site. You need to log into the Citibank portal with your Citibank account credentials.

DC site is for business customers and it's a charge card.

  • Never had a credit card come so slowly before..

Does anyone have a quick TL;DR on the Citi travel insurance? I read through the PDS but found the wording difficult to understand.
    1) Essentially if I've paid for my trip (e.g. flights, activities) via my prestige card, does that mean I automatically get the insurance?
    2) How do I "start" that insurance? Usually when you apply for travel insurance, they send you an email outlining the dates for which it starts/ends and all the terms and conditions.
    3) For things which I purchased (not using the Citi card), would this be covered by the insurance? (e.g. Accommodation)
    4) How does protection for gear (e.g. cameras, lenses, etc) work?

    • Also like to know this and if anyone has claimed any inusrances so far, in particular flight disruptions/cancelations

      • +1

I've just recently had to claim for the extra cost of a very-short-notice Virgin flight that I had to buy because Jetstar cancelled my flight 3 hours before departure.
I'm in the middle of a claim right now, and the only information Jetstar can give me about the cancellation is "operational reasons". Which the insurance company won't accept because they need a specific reason.
I'll have to escalate to the ombudsman soon because we're at a stalemate.

This is not with the Citi card insurance, but it illustrates that you won't be able to claim for airline issues unless the airline plays along.

        • How does this work because my flight in July was cancelled and the airline I booked with has no availability one week after or before my travel date. So If I book with some other airline do I get the difference from the insurance or?

  • Just trying to reply to a comment from vetopower, based on page 47 of the 2023 Half Year Results Investor Presentation, is everyone else reading that the Citi brand is gone from end of 2024?

Difficult to say if it could be an issue to keep open in your case.
I only had a 2k credit limit on the premier and went for min (20k) credit limit on prestige.

  • How strict are they compared to other lenders? My max credit limit with CBA is $8000, I'd cancel that card, but not sure if Citi would approve me for the 20k limit…

    • Citi is definitely more generous than the big4.

    • I was slightly concerned myself as I have 3 other credit cards open totalling $30K+ but I was approved quickly. $8K isn't that much but it'll also depend on your income, credit history etc.

  • Applied on Sat night and got e-mail approval this morning, yay! Actually missed couple of calls from Citi (Pixel flagged as spam lol) but approval came through before I had the chance to return the call.

    • I had a couple of missed calls too! I wonder why

  • Has anyone used it to pay bills ?

Either bpay or direct on the billers website ? Are these
    Classed as eligible purchases ?
the reason being I have a some big bills coming up end the financial year totalling over $10,000

no point for me getting the card if they are not eligible

    • I think only government linked payments e.g. rego , council rates, are not eligible. I could be wrong.

    • Using Bpay directly does not count as eligible purchases and does not earn points. If you actually use the card on their website then yes that counts as eligible purchase given they are not in the excluded categories like government related entities.

You can get around the above restriction and use Bpay with your card through a 3rd party like Beem it, ZipPay or Sniip. But note there some limits on these.

      • Use Citi payall instead if you can (need a BSB and account number, like making a direct debit), definitely counts towards the min spend

  • Anyone is able to obtain the Avis president club membership which give you guaranteed upgrade at airport? https://specials.priceless.com/en-au/offers/Avis_Car_Rental?…

    • Just tried. Couldn't find Australia in country of residence. Then I went sign up a new account on the official site and went back to link the account. Still no option of Australia. Then I just chose any country and submitted. It says will update the account in 5 business days.

      • That is what I tried as well, but I didn't go that far to sign up with other countries. Keep us posted for the outcome.

        • They replied

Thank you for contacting Avis Budget Group.

I regret to inform you that we cannot process the requested update because the country of residence on you profile is Australia.

As an Australian please contact the customer service regarding your request through the following site: https://www.avis.com.au/en/customer-service/comments-and-fee…

Thank you for your kind understanding.

If you have any further question or request please do not hesitate to contact us again.

          😑

  • Got approved overnight, with no issues.
Low 100k salay with 7k across 2 other cards.
Very good credit rating and have opened about 5 other cards in the past year.

    • Got 20k credit?

    • I thought the requiremt is 150k?

      • That was incorrectly stated at the start of the offer, now there is no set income requirement

  • So with the PayAll, it works for multiple cards? If so, then it's probably a good idea to get them all?

    • Works per account. If you have multiple cards they are all part of your same account and share the same PayAll limit. You still get the promo bonuses for each card though.

      • Thanks, I will stick to one then and set-up the PayAll for 10 years :)

        • Max 24 momths for recurring payments.

          • @jecec: I saw in the other comments here that it's max 2 years for each recurring payment set-up, but it's possible to schedule a few recurring payments to start in a few years and finish 2 years later, up to 10 years?

            • +1

@Voi: Yes you can set up multiple 24 month ones to link them together. Just note that if you set up too many Citibank may call you and ask why you need so many. It has happened to a few people.

  • Got conditionally approved last night and sent through my payslips. Fingers crossed will be approved early next week. What’s been turn around time for those who have been conditionally approved to getting official confirmation?

    • +1

Conditionally approved on Saturday and got approved just now.

      • Wow - that’s great turnaround time! Hopefully mine will also get approved soon :)

  • Just got my card today… and it feels heavy! I dont think its metal, but It actually weights 11g, while my other credit cards weight 5g and feels very plasticky.

BTW, does anyone know whats the easiest way to set up a direct debit to pay off the card each month?

I'm wondering whether its OK to use the same account that receives the money from PayAll to pay off the cresit card.

    • There was a piece of metal inside when I cut the card up.

    • It's a metal card, that's why it's heavier. I've got a Revolut metal card and it feels solid and chunky compared to others.

  • Does anyone know if there is a waiting period to re-apply. I have checked the PDS but can't see anything.

I'm keen to cancel the cars and reapply down the track but want to ensure i wait the correct amount of time to get the bonus points again

  • Same query here…
I have to cancel my Citi pretisge card soon due to refinance and would like to get this card again once the loan has settled.
Just wondering if there is any waiting period to get the bonus points as I can't find it from the terms and conditions.
    Thx

    • See above

      • Thnaks heaps

  • Is there a waiting period to apply for the premier card once we have the prestige approved? Google says 1 card application per 8 days, but i assume that refers to citi America.

    • +1

Unless you've been rejected I don't think there's any waiting period. I was able to get both premier and prestige within a month of each other.

      • I might hold off a few weeks just to be safe then.
Do you know if the statement date is based on date of approval, or card activation?

        • +1

For me it started on the day I got the welcome email (notification the card is sent)

  • Has anyone used the prestige card to withdraw cash? Namely in japan?

    • It's not recommended to ever withdraw cash with a credit card, especially overseas. You'll be hit with a cash advance fee AND an international transaction fee.

Would recommend getting a debit card from this list
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/cards_with_no_overseas_tra…

Citibank plus (if you already have one) and Up bank would be my picks. These should have no fees at 7/11 ATMs in Japan

  • I had a call from Citi asking who the payment "payall" was to and if it will continue into the future. Anyone else got the call?

    • what did you say? Consulting fees, and yes, you expect the consulting to continue on for some time.

      • Indeed, I said not sure how long it will continue for. She searched the name lol

        • She actually googled the recipient name?
          how much was the amount?
I'm going split my recurring payalls to under $10k increments to hopefully stop questions being asked.

          • @BrunoBear: Yes she searched for it on google and said I found it lol
            The amount was $20k

            • @nadan: So what's the recipient name you used? I just made up a name. Lol

              • @Micky14: just use Vandelay Industries

              • @Micky14: I put my own initials and it matched some business lol

      • What happened since?
I got an email asking to call them bank in regards to my prestige card. I’m assuming it’s about the payall transactions?

  • They’ve reduced the bonus points for new applications to 275,000.

Cards applied for / approved prior to the end of May would still attract the 300,000 advertised at the time, yeah?

Is Payall still fee free until October or already back to 2%?

    • +2

The first year annual fee is also at full price now ($700)

Yes you are always approved for the promo you applied for, they don't change it retroactively

Payall is still 0% until October, that's a separate offer to the cards
      https://www1.citibank.com.au/offers-benefits/PayAll1

      • Thanks. Yeah, noted the full fee too.

  • Does the monthly cycle start on the day I activate my card? I can't find any info in the app

    • +1

Someone mentioned it goes by the date they send out the welcome email (the day card is sent).

  • Anyone apply for an additional card when lodging original application?

I requested an additional cardholder during signup and my card arrived but the other didn’t.

I’m wondering if there usually ship together in the same envelope or separately. Hopefully the other follows tomorrow. If not I’ll contact Citi to enquire and ensure it’s coming.

    • +1

Separate envelopes. Arrived at the same time for us though.

  • Has anyone successfully requested the linked diners club card?

    • You need to call them to request. And you also need some luck to get a right customer service agent who knows to do this.

      • Ok thanks!

    • Apparently you can do it online too. From the Citi website:

If you are an existing customer with a Citi Rewards, Citi Premier, Citi Premier Qantas, Citi Prestige or Citi Prestige Qantas Card which is in good standing, you can request a Linked Diners Club Card on Citi Online.

If you log in to Citi Online, navigate to “Services > Card Services”. If you are eligible, you will see the option on the left navigation menu to request a Linked Diners Club Card.

Out of interest, what’s the draw card to have Diners? I see you share credit limit and statement etc. Is there any benefit if you’re not travelling?

      Found this older article:

      https://www.executivetraveller.com/citibank-doubles-down-wit…

      • +2

I ended up calling to request the card because online was always giving me an error and they were aware of the problem. Card arrived in 4 days.

        • Did you recently applied for the Citibank Card? It says my current card is not eligible to apply for the Linked Diners card. I tried calling them and they said the same thing.

          • @spiinl: You need to hang up call again. Their system is broken. Everyone is not eligible on the website. And their customer service is bad too. Everyone says different thing. You can get the card, but you need to get a right customer service agent first.

            • @Micky14: The CS promised to call back after finding out how to do it. Hopefully she will soon.

            • @Micky14: you are 100% correct. Got a right CS this time and card is on its way!

Maybe should call on weekdays to get the right CS that can do it or knows the workaround.

          • @spiinl: I had the same problem when I tried to apply the card before the first billing statement. Their system had a flag to prevent the application. It was probably after 2 months since I got the Prestige that I called again and was able to apply for the card.

I remember reading somewhere that it needs to assess your account spending or something like that. I had more payall trans and other transactions within the 2 months so that must of removed the flag.

            • @ShowMeDMoney898: Thats a good point. At first she actually asked me to call back in a couple of months. Makes more sense now.

        • What are the benefits of the linked Diners card compared to Bankwest Zero/28Deg as a travel credit card? Thanks

      • Some discussion on Diners card here

      • Is this just good for using the banks in foreign countries?

    • Jokers are telling me I’m not eligible as it’s only available if requested at time of applying for card. Asked for a supervisor!

Supervisor said the same! Can only be added at point of application

      • Tried 3 times. Same answer every time :(

          • @CodeXD: Yeah saw that. About 4 months. Weirdly they’re saying that’s the problem and I should have asked when I applied and now it’s too late!!

        • +1

I have received my card 3 days later after spoken to the right CS.

          • @spiinl: So they responded to my escalation with the following :

On 26 June 2023, you called us and asked assistance on how to have a Linked Diners Club Card (LDCC) for your
Citi Prestige credit card account ending in xxxx. We have looked into your account, and we initially advised
you that your Citi Prestige credit card account was ineligible for LDCC. We understand that this was not
acceptable for you. As such, you requested for this matter to be escalated.
During our conversation with one of our Customer Service Managers, you advised us that the information you
saw from our website was different from the initial decision provided. We advised you that we will coordinate
with relevant department to provide appropriate solution for you.
We have now completed a full review into the experience you have had with us which we have set out below:
            1) Your above-mentioned credit card account is eligible to submit a request for an LDCC.
            2) This process requires Digital Written Request when the request is submitted via calling Customer Service.
            3) Alternatively, you can also opt for self-service through Citi Online Banking
            - go to www.citibank.com.au
            - log in with your userID and password
            - go to Services
            - go to card services
            - go to Request a Linked Diners Club Card
Please note that LDCC request is still subject for review and approva

Of course when I try again it still doesn’t work! Muppets

            • @digitalane: Maybe it is my pure luck that I got thru to someone that knows the workaround. It was done on the same call.
Not sure if it helps, the CS that got it done sounds like from Philippines call centre.

            • @digitalane: What are the benefits of the linked Diners card compared to Bankwest Zero/28Deg as a travel credit card? Presumably there's no extra credit score hits?

      • Bugger. Tried today. Got a wrong CS said the same. In the end I just said no worries and hung up. 🤣

    • -1

What are the benefits of the linked Diners card compared to Bankwest Zero/28Deg as a travel credit card? Thanks

  • How long is everyone waiting for their cards? It's been 11 days and counting for me…

    • Has it been 11 days since you applied online? Or 11 days since you received notification of approval and you’re still waiting on the physical card to arrive in your letterbox?

Approval should happen within a few days of submitting application. Card should arrive within 3-5 days following that.

Give them a phone call. Online chat won’t be able to tell you anything other than direct you to sections of their website…

      • 11 days since they told me the card had been sent.

        • Definitely should take that long - at least not to metropolitan areas.

Give them a call. Best of luck.

          • @fookos: I meant “shouldn’t take that long”

  • When do you get the bonus points? I just received my first statement, already did Payall transactions to meet $10k spend but only earned 20xxx points and no signs of the 300k bonus points. Should I wait for second statement or ring up Citi to query?

    • The bonus points arrived in my account ~12-24 hours after the statement arrived.

      • Thanks just logged in to check and can see the 300k points credited to my account! 😁

  • So diners club can’t be added to Apple Pay?

    • I know it might be answered somewhere but what’s the advantage of Diners over normal prestige card? What makes it worth it when u have to jump through hoops to get it?

      • I would like to know too. Seems like in terms of points, they are equal. Only difference is no international fees.
Does points earned via Diners Club goes to the same Citi Points pool?

        • From my reading, it’s main use (and maybe only) is if you’re travelling. I don’t see why you’d use it in Oz over your primary Citi card.

Here some Q&A for you too:

          https://www.citibank.com.au/cards/dinersclub/FAQs/index.htm

          • @fookos: The other useful thing for points reasons is that it links to PayPal, so things you'd otherwise get 1 pt/$ on, you now get 2pts/$.

        • Same pool of points.

  • Anyone else get the offer today for a $200 JB, Coles or Myer if you convert $2500 or more using 'Quick Cash'? Just an upfront fee of .99% as long as the re payment plan is followed (6 months). So $25 fee I think - $175 profit.

    • How did you get the offer? e.g. email / SMS?

      • Email this morning and on the app as a pop up

        • I keep getting these. I set one up at $2500. That was over a month ago. I have no idea how I can "pay" it off - does anyone know? Over a month on, it says 0/6 are repaid, yet I'm up to date on paying all due amounts based on the statement..

  • Can’t believe I missed the offer, is it still worth it at 700 dollars and 275,000 points?

    • Yes, if you make good use of payall.

    • Not worth it imo, unless u are a very avid traveller who really needs the “unlimited” priority pass

Keeping Payal aside lets see what u get for $700

275k citi points - equal to 275k/3 Krisflyer or 275k/2.5 velocity points

which turns out to be around 110k Velocity points for $700! That’s EXPENSIVE! , or u may apply for Velocity card for around net $150 fee, and earn 120k bonus points- so u paying an additional $450 fee for 10k LESS velocity points

Payall is wildcard , speculating it remains 0 fee for all future scheduled transactions is wishful thinking- at best case u make around 80k velocity points for $700 annual fee

      • Krisflyer is 2.5 to 1, I know St George are changing to 3 but hadn't heard Citi is following.

        • as per this official link it is 3:1 https://www.citirewards.com/tygr-web/partnerProgramsListing.htm?sourceCode=GRCB&cmp=nav&lid=sub-nav|travel|points-transfer

          • @[Deactivated]: yeah ok, the Prestige and Signature are 2.5 the rest are 3

      • Velocity is 2:1 isn't it?

        • That's what I thought, too.

        • -2

          2.5:1 as per citi website

  • I got an email to call them back about my prestige card. I’m assuming it’s about the payall transactions. I’m on my 2nd month. I’m a bit hesitant to call them. Anyone on the same boat?

  • What is the concensus on fee free PayAll transactions?

Is it best to setup a recurring monthly for the next couple of years
or do you need to put in individual payments?

    • It might not be fee free for much longer. So best to set it up recurring in advance while it's free.
If you're asking the difference between individual monthly payment vs recurring, there's no difference except more work doing each one individually

      • I guess I am interested in others interpretation of the fee free conditions.

For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%.*

*Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

For me it's pretty clear, set it up during the promotion period, don't pay any fees.
Citi T&Cs even mention recurring payments…

          • @johnmelb: Thanks, that's the way I read it. There was a bit of conjecture for a while.

    • The wording of the offer:

For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

So to me, the strategy that maximises your fee free Payall given that any recurring Payall can only be set up to last for 24 months from the date it is set up is to set up one-off payments up to 30 Septebmer 2023, then set up all your payments as recurring for 24 months before 31 October 2023. That way, your fee free Payall can be extended to 31 October 2025

      • You can set the PayAll to start from 2025

      • You can actually set up Payall for future dates as well. In your example, you can create several more Payalls up to 10 years in advance.

Payall from November 2025 to October 2027.
Payall from November 2027 to October 2029.
Payall from November 2031 to October 2033.

        • Oh nice I did not know that thanks! Well then, I may hang on to my Prestige card for a little longer than I was anticipating to!

  • Anyone who has transferred Citi Rewards Points to Kris Flyer miles, please let me know how long it generally takes for the points to be transferred into the Kris Flyer account?

    • i've transferred a few times and longest was about a week maybe slightly longer and quickest a couple days.

    • Did it once and it took one day ish.

  • Has anyone managed to get Citi to waive or reduce the annual fee for this card for the second year? If so, any advice on how to achieve it? Thanks!

    • Ring them and ask? But i doubt that would work anymore.

    • You have to be willing to close your account down in my experience. A lot of banks have caught on to people just calling up and asking and a lot of the banks now just say no, but if you ask them to cancel your card, you'll be redirected to their customer retention team who would be far more likely to offer you some sort of retention offer which may or may not include an annual fee waiver/reduction.

  • After all the hassle, today I get an email saying they’re scrapping the Diners!

    • I got the same email. No wonder they are not keen to dish it out.

      • Looks like the change is from October so technically they should continue to offer until then. It’s also proof they do it. That said, no point applying if you’re not going to keep the Prestige card beyond 12-mths. They need to reduce that annual fee.

        • I’m annoyed as I got it purely for no overseas transaction fees.

  • Hope PayAll isn’t the next thing to go!

  • Is it only me or the PayAll no longer allows you to schedule the start date more than 3 months later?

    • I also can't go beyond start date of November 2023 anymore now.
So not just you, would like to know if others have the same.

      • Same

      • Looks like Citibank has been tipped off.

        • Cancel current one and start this month

          • @digitalane: Have you tried this? and it works?

I don't want to cancel as it takes 2 days to create a new one.
