    How is this a 'bargain'?

    • For people that use this that is quite a saving.

      • -8

Quite a saving? How much of a saving compared to what?
All I can see is free account sign up. No biggie I imagine.
Also free fee transactions until end March, with restrictions.
Doesn't mention actual or comparable transaction fees.
So where is the saving and the bargain?

        • +1

The savin is that when using such pos systems you have to pay transaction fees. Here you don't have to pay any for the next about six weeks

          • +2

@dosada: yea savings could be massive for someone that does any volume of card transactions and easily cover the cost of the terminal and more.

We use a zeller terminal at work and its been great

            • +3

              @macmanluke:

              volume of card transactions

Not really worth switching for one month if you are doing any sort of volume. Bank equipment is free and surcharge is way lower than 1.4% if you meet the target.

          • -2

@dosada: It might only be 4 weeks from 1st March, but not important.
What I am asking is, how does the setup cost and ongoing overall fees compare to like companies? That's how we can determine a good deal or a bargain.
The so called 'freebie' period is irrelevant if ongoing operating costs and fees are not competitive.
When deals are submitted to Ozbargain, it helps when an OP can clearly demonstrate a bargain or savings. Not just an offer.

            • @dusty4: The main reason why I am with them is because there are no monthly fees included.

The percentage is about the same as other companies offer

  • Terminal $299.
Not sure if it needs a sim card too.

    • Sim or WiFi connection is needed

@Zeller - As an existing Zeller user; what do you have for me???

  • +3

This is great for begging, because people 'don't carry cash'

  • +1

    PRICE in title.
$299 + 1.4% transaction fee. So, saving is 1.4% of transactions until 31st March.

    • +1

1.4% ongoing seems really good. Other options seem to be around the 1.8-1.9%.

      • 1.4% is a lot.

        • Cheaper than Square

          • +2

            @Mechz: more than banks

            • @bbtlovebbt: Comparing apples with apples. Many may have valid reasons not to go with banks.

Plus it's been a while since I've dealt with a banks EFTPOS account, but a guaranteed 1.4%, including AMEX cards - would banks normally only charge the business 1.4% for AMEX?

              • @tomsco: AMEX transaction should be charged by AMEX itself?

                • @bbtlovebbt: Regardless, that charge would go to the merchant/business. Looking at this article, it suggests AMEX surcharges can range from 1.5-2%. Knowing that (in theory) a business cannot charge a surcharge greater than the cost of accepting a certain scheme. So once again, that 1.4% seems very reasonable.

                • @bbtlovebbt: American Express card payments are included in the 1.4% processing fee. There are no additional fees to accept American Express, and you don't get charged anything directly via American Express either with Zeller Terminal!

              • @tomsco: The Zeller Sales team is happy to work with you to lock in an even lower card processing rate than 1.4% for businesses processing > $250K in card payments annually. Click the link here, and select "Contact Sales" to leave our details — and after the March fee-free processing promotion ends, you may be eligible for an even lower rate! https://www.myzeller.com/eftpos-terminal-machines

              • +2

@tomsco: it's 1.1% at cba for all cards including amex

          • +1

@Mechz: No cheaper than square if you pay $299 up front and don't use it much.

          • @Mechz: True. IIRC Square, Stripe and PP or a like usually has a fixed transaction fee on top of the percentage, right?

  • +2

Great for racking up some CC points paying yourself

    • +1

Not sure how those points could be worth more than 1.4% of your cash plus $299.

      • There's a possibility.

For example in ANZ rewards store a $100 Amazon gift card costs 22,225 points, which costs $22,225 (but usually capped so not that much). The transaction fee of 1.4% would be $32, which is lower than the gift cards.

However such method of credit card cash advance is usually forbidden in the TOS of credit cards I believe.

        • It's not a cash advance though. Seems like an overkill way to make $68 in gift cards.

        • 1.4% of $22,225 isn't $32 though…

          • @RubenM: You're right, it's 10x of that… Sorry too many zeros when calculating it.

    Complete pos

    • Point of Sale or Piece of ….

      • I have used mine for months now and never had any hick ups with it

  • Gar bage

  • +1

Rubbish! Just a copy cat company replicating Square. Would have been onboard if they at least were SME Friendly locally. But no, just profit focused 🙄

  • nah without POS, not on my list

  • They often run a promo. I got my terminal for free (had to put $3000 through or something like that).

This one allows you for infinite credit card points though, so that's pretty good! (I'm sure there's something in the fineprint against it).

Is this USB-c charger? One I have was Mini USB.

I bought one approx 6 months ago, collect $500 in eftpos and get cost of unit back meaning $0 for the unit.
It is horrible. ALWAYS going offline on wifi that is faultless on my Menulog and uber tablets. I then bought a telstra sim card for it and still offline every few days. Tried to call for support and they say reboot only.
I put through $400 to $1000 a day. Zeller is obsolete tech and online tools. No one from Zeller has even reached out to me why I went from $20'000 a month to $0. They cost me $1000s and dont care..
No online billing or APP to maintain daily sales.

I went back to square. Heaps of online tools to watch and run the business. More expensive, but at least it works.
I own Bakeries and Pizza shop.

Dont waste your time with Zeller. Zero Fxxks given their side!!!
