NGL took this out last time.
Great card and surprisingly the process wasn't as crap as dealing with Kogan usually is.

Pity its a once only card :(

    • +3

I've still got this card and use it in between churners.

Since you always want to meet the credit card spend requirements ASAP and then cancel, this is a nice card to still get points (albeit kogan) while waiting for the next card/deal to arrive.

      • Could you expand on why?

Since you always want to meet the credit card spend requirements ASAP and then cancel

Most credit cards such as ANZ / NAB / Westpac / CBA will grant you a sign on bonus when you first apply for the card. Afterwards, you will not be able to get it again until 12 months after you have closed your account.

For example, I sign up for ANZ FF Black card on 1st Feb 2023, meet the spend requirement and get my 110,000 Qantas points in the first statement. I then close the card today, 7th March 2023.

On 8th March 2024, I will have met the requirement:

ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card in the last 12 months.

and can therefore apply for whatever new sign on bonus is available at the time.

The longer I hold onto a churn card, the longer I have to wait until I can apply for it again.

    • What did you buy for 500

      • +1

You get it as an account credit so you don't need to spend it all in one go. When you make purchases it will just slowly use the credit.

There have been many kogan deals posted here.

The credit has 1 year expiry.

        • How do you access/use the credits?

          • +1

@IsTops: Once you've met the spending (I think it was a few days after the statement), you will receive an email with subject:

You have been awarded $400.00 credit at Kogan.com!

You’re receiving this Kogan.com Credit as part of the Kogan Money Black Card promotional offer.

$400.00 has been applied to your Kogan.com account!

and there is a 'get credit' link at the bottom.

It was only $400 when I signed up, but yours will be $500.

You can then see it in your kogan account - https://www.kogan.com/account/dashboard/credits/

    Maybe worthwhile to note,

"If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer"

I have this in title based on previous kogan money deals

Kogan Money (New Credit Card Customers Only)

I've added your suggestion into description. Thanks.

    Nice card
but will lovely Gerry honour the credit?

    • +4

What does Gerry have to do with Kogan?

      • wasted endless time on Kogan's website, other than mobile plans there is nothing worth it!

  • just confirming you will only get the $500 credit after you spent $2000 within 90 days, right?
it does not mean you get $500 right after approved signed -up

    • +2

Yes to get the $500 credit you need to first meet the $2000 spend within 90 days.

  • Let's say I apply for this card and use it for the bonus and then never use it again. Am I understanding it correct that there are no ongoing fees or spending requirements and I can just hold on to the card (without using it) indefinitely and get an ongoing free kogan first membership?

Edit: I assume me and the wife can get one each as well, ie it's not per household?

    • Yep, that is 100% correct.

You do get more kogan points if you use your kogan credit card to buy stuff on kogan tho.

      Uncapped rewards points
Earn up to 2 rewards points per dollar.#
2 rewards points per $1 of eligible spend on Kogan.com.
1 rewards point per $1 of eligible spend outside Kogan.com.

      • I've already spent past my limit and had something in mind to buy for the credit. But unfortunately as usual it's never that easy as I couldn't find any credit on my account (I foolishly assumed it would be instant)

After reading the conditions (for the current offer - which I assume has the same conditions), it says that it can take "up to 10 weeks after the end of the qualifying period". So I take that as 90days + 10 weeks = 5.5 months :(

If you've done this offer before, does it actually take this long or is that just boilerplate conditions and the credit is usually applied (much) quicker?

        • +1

I got my spending within the first statement. Received the credit day after statement was available.

  • Other than kogan mobile, what can actually be considered prudent to purchase on kogan?

Don't get me wrong, I mean it is at least better than a no fee no rewards card, but it also takes at least $6000 away from the borrowing capacity if one's want to get multiple credit cards in one's portfolio.

  • Kogan Money Credit Cards are issued by National Australia Bank Limited (ABN 12 004 044 937, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 230686) (“NAB”). • sound good

  • The complementary kogan first for life?
I just got charged $79 which I complained and refunded and got strip from kogan first.
Well not that i care if i would ever got that kogan first status. I literally buy nothing from kogan

    • Not sure what happened on your end, but after I got approved for kogan credit card, I received an email with a link to log onto my kogan account.

      • Thanks. I’ll check out with the CS then, if they do respond

Received my card and realised this does not support Google Pay(wallet), only apple pay.
    Kind of a bummer.

    • Yeah..just found out the same way too :'(

    • How long after applying were you able to use the credit card?
e.g. if a sale is ending soon, how quickly can I apply and get this so I can use it - presume have to wait for physical card arrival? Boo

      • Yep, only after you get your new card. Applied for it on the 7th and got the card on the 10th - pretty quick!

    • Thanks for letting us know mate. Was gonna apply for the card but am gonna withdraw now.

    • +1

Just got my card today and worked fine for me.

      • Worked fine with Google Pay?

        • +1

Yup, added it to both mine and wife's phone, paid at Aldi and woolies from our phones (Samsung), no issues at all.

          • +1

@whatif: Thanks it worked now! Weird cause I've tried multiple times when I first got it and asked kogan customer support who told me it only supports Apple Pay.

            • +1

@Orbilf: Must have changed recently. I tried it when I read your original comment and it also didn't work for me.

  • Can I buy gift cards on Kogan with this $500 credit?

    • I think you need to have a look on Kogan and see what gift cards they sell… not a surprise, they only sell kogan gift cards.

  • Is there a card out there with no annual fee or a small fee that offers FF points (Qantas or Virgin)? I was on a home loan package that offered credit card but have had to move to another lender to save on interest fees. Package doesn't include a credit card.

  • Does any one remember what was the offer back in Nov 2022?I remember $400 cash back on $1500 spend but they keep saying it was $2000.

  • How long after reaching the $2000 spend do you get the $500 gift card?

    • The conditions say:
"up to 10 weeks after the end of the qualifying period" :(

      Hopefully it's quicker than that

  • Just realized my $400 credit has expired(Plan was saving for a product I was after but was not aware of the expiry date as a thing).

Any one has experience of claiming it back?
