  • Just signed up for the Superloop nbn™ Home Standard 50/20 Unlimited Plan $58.95 deal - is the first month normally billed at the recurring amount post-6 months?

Promo price is $58.95 but billed $74.95. Go easy, i'm a newbie.

    • +1

Doesn't sound right. Worth a call to support to check if they have you on the right promo plan.

  • $59.95 at leaptel but for 12 months. I was with superloop, went to exetel now leaptel. I'll stay with leaptel at $59.95 because it's 12 months vs the 6 months others offer and I cbf jumping around to save $1 a month.

    • +1

What's your threshold to jump? $5?

      • +8

        $1.10.

    • Is leaptel a 12/24 month contract, or can you get out whenever you want?
EDIT: Found they had a chat and asked myself. You get the discount even if you do the no-contract option.

  • With tangerine on 250 plan. Superloop still good for gaming latency?

    • -1

We used to game on dialup modems. You'll be fine.

      • +2

        Thanks for the insightful input

        • -1

Anytime, mate. We ozbargainers gotta look out for each other.

  • +1

Was with Superloop for 2 years. Just switched to Tangerine. Same speeds. $60 Tangerine 100/20. No ragrets.

    • I'm amazed with their service too.

      Same plan as you

      @Campbelltown

      FTTP

    • +2

      I have the same tattoo.

      What about regrets?

    • Checked out Tangerine site, their 100/20 (XXL Speed Boost) is $62.90 for the 1st 6 months then $89.90. Is this one you just switched to or some other plan? Thanks.

  • I just made the switch from Aussie BB. It took 50 mins. All ok except my Plex Server is no longer visible from the internet. Is my public ip behind NAT? If so can this be changed?

    • +5

      Ask them to disable CGNAT

    • +2

To fix your Plex server call up Superloop to turn off Carrier Grade NAT. Superloop will put you on a sticky IPv4 address that rarely changes. $5 per month for a static IP.

      • +1

They sorted me out this morning. He said I've put you on a dynamic. I can see my public IP now so I'm off GCNAT. Plex will be OK with the ip changing from time to time. Thanks for your quick advice.

    • +1

      Log-on to your portal> static IP address> IPv6

      Give that a go.

  • Thanks. Just reading up on this. Do they do this or are they likely to kick up a fuss?

  • I got the free fibre upgrade from Aussie broadband late last year (I was on 100/40 before and after the upgrade), will I be able to switch to Superloop 500/50 without an exit fee? I couldn’t see any mention of one in the FTTP offer from Aussie.

    • No, you’re generally locked in for 12 months after the FTTP upgrade or you pay an exit fee of $200.

      • +1

Aussie BB let you leave without paying the $200 nbn exit fee.

    • You are allowed to swap ISPs at the same speed or by going on a faster speed. The $200 nbn exit fee doesn't apply here.

  • How soon the connection will active ? I applied on 14 March and select to connect on 16 March.

I'm currently using Telstra smart gen 2 modem , once super loop active , is it just need to change the user name and password ?

    • Superloop generally take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour to activate nbn. Login to the Telstra SMG2, go to the Broadband section and configure the connection type to IPoE and press apply.

  • Not going back to Superloop anymore, their customer service is the worst! Non existence and straight up rude when they're actually available, and I'm a patience person.

  • +1

Ditching Superloop at the end of the month for Leaptel.

I have been getting multiple service disruption emails every week for the pass few months. Not sure if it is NBN faults or SL, but my net have been getting progressively worse since my discount ran out.

I am not usually a jumper, but hoping for a better connection, and saving $120 a year in the process..

    • I've called 4 times to try and cancel and every time it's dropped out after 20 minutes on hold :( and they don't let you cancel any other way, really annoying

  • Currently with More 50/20 using the cba deal. Get frequent issues when on Teams calls intermittently through the day. Is that a problem with 50/20 or More? If the latter then worth switching?

  • Superloop charged me $30 to upgrade my plan at the end of the month billing cycle - didn't state that anywhere on the page I used to upgrade either - just got the extra $30 charge in my monthly bill - wtf? Heaps of outages lately too - going to swap to exetel unless they can offer a discount

  • Nice one.

Thinking of going for the 500/50 plan. Is the Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 MESH 1800Mbps Modem as a 140 dollar add on a good deal? I have a nighthawk from 3-4 years ago that is starting to play up.

    • Could be many things not to do with your internet connection

    • Don’t buy that crappy router. It’s not a good deal. I’d pick the Eero router over that.

My advice would be to see how speeds and performance is on the Netgear Nighhawk (it should get you near 400mbps) and save up for something decent that supports wifi 6.

Ubiquiti Unifi Dream Router would be my recommendation for a nice wifi 6 router that will last and get updates for years to come.

  • Stick with Superloop and they will look after you.

I got offered 74.95 for 100/20 to stay on with them!

  • for existing customers: I just called to cancel and they offered either $10/m off for 3 months or $5/m off for 12 months without a contract, I am on 50/20 and have been with SL for just over a year. This offer may be another option for you if your SL connection has no issues but want to save some $

  • On ABB for 2 years I never had an unscheduled service outage.

With SL for ~6 month, drop outs happen bi-weekly during the day, last 10 minutes to 4 hours. QLD based

  • will be back after my auspost $64 100/50 lapse in 3-4month time. Auspost worst support ever and no weekend after hour support at all.

    • how was the connection though?

  • Currently with AGL for $69 month-to-month. Should I wait until the 31st of this month to cancel AGL and sign up for this deal? Want to avoid bill cycle overlap.

  • -3

It's a deal if you must have fixed line NBN.

If not, everyone is moving to 5G to get better value for money.

NBN Co. Is literally sacking people to try and remain competitive. They are in damage control because 5G is stealing their lunch.

    https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2023/03/nbn-sliced-and-dice…

    Tony Abbott has been vindicated.

    • -1

I love it when facts hurt peoples feelings.

      • I spared a neg on your "everyone is moving to 5G", but it defs sounds like a bubble you're in.

It would take great 5G reception and some desperate times to entirely move to 5G for me and everyone I know.

        • Time will tell.

          I like my chances though.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/785684

Seems like better value for the same (similar mid 80s) price, Including higher upload speeds. Not even accounting for the fact you can pop the sim in your phone and take a hike.

  • Does superloop offer VoIP?

  • Finally got thru to cancel - 5th go!
Offered me a $10 for 5 months retention discount and we're "surprised" when I said Leaptel we're doing 12m $15 discount
Just have to wait 30 days now :((

  • I'm currently with exetel and have taken superloops deal on fibre as exetel raised their prices.

Does it churn over like mobile phone numbers or do I need to cancel exetel ?

    • Depends which type of NBN you have

  • +1

I called to cancel (as I signed up 6 months ago under a previous deal) - they said that their new account system meant they could sign me up to the new plans (with speed boost) and give me the 6 month discount - but under a whole new account (new email address). So essentially I was treated as a new customer. I think overall I'm paying $5 more for the speed boost compared to my previous discount.

  • Want to jump on this, found out I have to keep paying TPG til 5th of May despite not being on contract…..last time I deal with them.

    • +3

FYI Superloop will also have a mandatory 30 day cancellation notice period.

      • Thanks for the heads up, I may give them a miss knowing this

      • Are you sure? Did you see this 30 day rule in their critical information summary?

I have been with SL for more more than an year and I was told that I needed to cancel by the end of the billing cycle (pay till the end of the billing cycle) and the charges will not be prorated. I was not told about the 30 day notice period?

        • +1

Yes it's in their terms now, it was introduced as part of their recent rebrand.
But it's still unclear whether this also applies to existing customers or just new ones. Note that existing customers are still on the old billing/service system.

        • Just to confirm, I recently left Superloop without giving notice as an existing customer on the old system and my account was successfully closed straight away without any further charge. So if you're still on the old system you are probably ok (for now)

  • Why has this been posted as Exetel same company is cheaper

  • I have managed to get 100/40 deal for $79.99 after discount for 12 months ( 6 + 6 extension) which is expiring next month.

Anyway to extend the deal or should I need to sign up with a new email account and select the second port in the FTTP ONT?

  • I just transferred from Exetel to Superloop. Superloop is active but I noticed that the Exetel service is no longer showing - I thought normally it's a manual cancellation process.
Is it automatic because they are the same company? I just don't want to get charged twice. Does Exetel also partially refund the pro-rated period?

  • This offer also applies to Fibre Plans (e.g. Opticomm), which for most providers normally has different pricing so that's good. Just signed up to 1000/50 and I'm consistently getting between 890-910 down and 53-56 up into my Google Nest WiFi. Sadly the router isn't getting above 500 over WiFi but via Ethernet I can get 830/54. Being in an apartment we get a lot of interference.

  • I was with myrepublic and the service were great but they sold the company to superloop, the service since are the worse combined with ADSL and the support is none, had to log to TIO everytime, yes, they have this much problems and can't solve the problem with their customer service that I have to use word of everytime!Im so angry with their customer service(hang up my phone again) that I have to write a comment and a neg…
PS:check the recent google review and trustpilot they put on their website

  • +4

I think there HAS to be a notification/disclaimer everytime a broadband thread is added.

Up until 6 months ago, I was able to move across broadband provider (Voda -> ABB -> Superloop) seamlessly and my accounts with the terminating provider would be automatically cancelled. No further cost incurred. This is despite NBN plugged in the new service to a new UNID port (so if my Voda was using UNID1, the new service say ABB would use UNID2) and I would get a notification from the terminating service provider of my departure.

No such thing for Superloop however. When I connected to Leaptel, Leaptel said UNID2 is occupied so I have to use UNID1. No further communication from anyone including from Superloop.

It turns out under the new process (rule?), NBN doesn't alert terminating service provider of my departure anymore. You would need to call the terminating service provider and give them a 30 days notice which means if your $15 discount ($99 to $84.95 for example) terminates this month, it is too late. You would have to tell them last month.

Although I am not happy about it, it is in the T&C so I guess I just have to learn about it. Having said that, I don't agree with the 30 days notice because that undermines the concept of month-by-month arrangement. If you have served one full month and about to enter into a new month, you should be able to terminate at the end of that full month you have just served. You should not be forced to serve another month.

So whoever wants to fight them about it, probably use the angle of month-by-month as being inconsistent ot the T&C they put through.

Again, I think for any future broadband deals, we should put an alert for churners of this extra month danger.
