  • Does this WORX well?

After a year it regularly needs help in my experience. Gets stuck, cuts its own wire occasionally, can dig holes when bogged, need to keep points clean regularly at base station as misses the stop point and circles the perimeter endlessly until battery fails. However, overall worth it vs push mower for me. Just becomes a bit of a PITA as it ages. Without the need for the perimeter wire (upcoming model?) I would def recommend as highly worth it as this is the source of much of the grief.

Whens the non perimeter wire model coming?

I have a very large lawn- rather automate everything than ride on

        • Can you confirm?

        • It's out but unfortunately the land down under is not a priority for Worx.

            @tinnybastard: Yeah, basically…

The new models are shown here and look a lot different to the current ones:
            https://eu.worx.com/en/robot-lawn-mowers/

No idea when they will become available in AU. A quick scan of counties they are for sale in show:

            WR206E - 600m2 - going for about 1499 € or $2500~AU after conversion
            WR208E - 800m2 - going for about 1799 € or $3000~AU after conversion
            WR213E - 1300m2 - going for about 2199 € or $6000~AU after conversion

So won't be cheap to lose that guide wire… but I will still pay.

I hear the newer ones coming soon will remove the need for having to lay the perimeter guide wires. I am waiting for those to emerge…

I must be the only person in the world that actually enjoys mowing their own lawn.

got a voice control one - wife says are you mowing the lawn this weekend?

    • Depends how nice your grass is and how comfy the ride on is.

We had a 1 acre block when I was growing up and it wasn't fun having to push the old mower around and then rake the grass up because we didn't have a catcher.

So loud I couldn't even use my walkman when I eventually got one.

    • I do genuinely enjoy mowing the lawn, but 1.5 hours in to a 3+ hour job my patience begins to fray. Just eats up too much precious time from my limited weekends (i have 500sqm of lawn to manage). Was brutal in summer - with all the rain I needed to cut every fortnight as it grew so fast

      • I've got 700sqm sloped block in a wet climate with chicken and dog potholes everywhere. Not fun! I borrowed a crazy man's sheep for a few weeks, that was fantastic but the amount of poop, wow.

        • +1

Bloody oath haha. May as well get a ride on mower at that point

  • While nothing special about this price, I can highly recommend the robot if you've got the time/patience for setup and tweaking.

    • I've got 450sqm of lawn and badly need something like this. Will this do the job? What's your experience been so far - and what setup/tweaking is needed?

      • Go bigger. I reckon you need a mower rated at twice the size you need as their ratings are usually optimistic, and/or based on the unit running 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

        For a 450sqm lawn I'd go with the 1000sqm rated unit (WR140E)

        • Brilliant - will do, Cheers

I've had the WR149E for 8 months mow. This model is rated for 700m2 so it's more than adequate for my 380m2 lawn. Getting the perimeter wire perfect will take some trial and error but it's very satisfying once you get it right. I ended up adding a 3kg weight to the rear to improve traction and havn't touched it or my lawns for about 6 months now.

Living the dream! I hope you're nearby on a sun lounge in a Hawaiian shirt drinking cocktails while it mows the lawn.

          Amazing! That's the dream. Cheers
