This is a great deal considering how much protein powders have gone up over the last 12 months

    • The same/better deal is also at Woolworths.
But I'm not sure if it's chain-wide, or just the local one for me and Jimothy.

Might be worth a look at your own woolies before jumping on this deal.

    • +3

FYI The 2kg protein was $41.50 on the same half price last year (now $55.99). Still cheaper than bulk nutrients (on a per KG basis) however not sure if BN are as competitive as they once were. (profanity) VDHG off, I'm investing in whey.

      • +4

FIRE and bodybuilding worlds are colliding!

      • +1

        Inflation hey..

Anyway picked up 2kg plant based (choc), good enough for the price to try out. Usually head to VPA or bulk nutrients in the past. $30-35/kg good price to aim for

      • AminoZ will be posting a deal tomorrow after lunch. Based on previous deals expect it to be 4kg protein for $149 plus $50 store credit.

        • -1

          source?
          sauce?
          remorse?

        • Dang, I just bought 4 kg from them last week.

          • @elektron: $4kg Musashi= $110 not bad to be honest

            • @G-rig: What's the protein content though? I bought pure AminoZ WPI. Cost me $245 delivered.

              • @elektron: Yeah wouldn't be as much probably (I got the plant based one, 22g). Most people consume too much anyway (or more than what is absorbed).

                • +1

@G-rig: That science is very nuanced with contradictory studies. Thomas DeLauer has some great videos breaking down the latest research.

                  • @elektron: Yes, was just saying how much bro science and misinformation about nutrition in general is in the industry, gyms and social media etc.

Most people scoff too much and it can go to fat just like anything else if not burning it.

Eg why still need protein powder if scoffing so much meat as well.

  • +6

    There is no free shipping

  • +2

Thanks. I ordered through ebay with free delivery over $50

    • +2

How did you get free delivery with ebay? showing up as 9.99 for me

      • +1

It says free delivery with $50 spend. I do have ebay plus though, so that could be why.

        • +1

Weird, I have plus too, can even use the $5 monthly coupon for it but no free shipping :(

          • +10

@happycake: Free shipping on ePharmacy, same price

            • +1

@Cludo: This is the real deal here, cheers!

              • +3

@KonkyDong: No probs! Every time somebody post a CW deal I go to this site and grab it with free postage

                • @Cludo: Thanks for the heads up, will be doing this in the future

            • @Cludo: Great tip, thanks!

            • @Cludo: Legend

            • +1

@Cludo: 1$ cheaper on aminoz after pricebeat

      • +2

You have to add at least 2 items to your cart incl 50+ spend to get free shipping via ebay

    • Says $9.99 postage for me (got eBay plus).
How do you get free postage?
May just find some in store, no idea if Musashi is any good but may as well try (the plant one) for that price.

      • ebay plus and at least 2 items over $50.

        It's mentioned just above also

        • Added two of them to the cert >$55 each, and 2x postage added to the total so something isn't right.

Anyway will just pick up one locally to try, had to know if they are smelly fart powders..

          Talking about CW eBay btw.

  • 100% Whey vs High Protein, which one is good ???

    • +4

      100% Whey.

The other one has carb fillers and larger serves to hide a lower protein percentage.

      • thanks mate

      • So much out of stock already. I’ll fall back to high protein.

Edit: Found some 100 Whey 2kg near me. Grabbed that. Slightly more protein per 100g and less carb and sugar. 👍

      • +2

        This is the whey

  • -5

    No unflavoured no deal.

  • +14

    This is the whey!

  • +5

Just a tip, if you want free shipping go through ePharmacy instead.
You lose your Cashback/Shopback but still worth imo.

    • +2

Thank you Cludo!! Miss not being able to get free shipping on CW and here you are with a subsidiary CW site that still has free shipping.
      Straight up legend.

    • Legend, cheers

  • Weirdly, I can't see any Musashi products at Chemist Warehouse when I search in PriceHipster (so I can see price history). I can see other products I buy from CW though, does PriceHipster have a blind spot when it comes to Musashi products?

  • I waited 6 weeks on back order for 12 of the 90g bars @3.4ea which was an ok price… they shipped 3 days ago >.> if this had been a few days earlier I could've cancelled.

Here hoping my C&C order actually gets filled and I don't just get an order cancelled message in the AM. May order from online as well just to be safe :')

  • I really like the chocolate one

  • +1

Got their protein powder recently, just be aware it's only two thirds protein when comparing prices, some are more expensive but more or less 100%. This also has a fair bit of sugar too which I was unaware of so not the healthiest option.

    • +1

Per 100 grams lable says 6 grams of sugar and 74 grams of protein. All things considered I think that's pretty good especially for the price.

  • +2

    Whey to go!

  • What is the 100% whey? WPC or WPI or a mix of both?

      • +1

The bloke above was asking what the “100% whey” was, not a recommendation for if they should get WPI or WPC.

    • +1

It's a mix, everything that doesn't call itself WPI (or WPC) is. Always heavier on the WPC because it's cheaper and less processed.

People will say WPI is better, but it's not worth the price difference. The only exception is if you're severely lactose intolerant. The price of WPI is obscene and it nets you a few grams extra protein at most.

      • Thanks - this was the answer I was looking for. Much prefer isolate so will wait for the aminoz deal tomorrow.

      • Which two Musashi are you comparing, all seem about $55. Thought $/kg isn't bad for half price. WPI with 30g protein is usually what you'd go for, so agree these seem like blends.

Also if people are lactose intolerant they should be getting the plant version (no reason why not anyway).
PS a bit more sodium and fat in it that I expected but thought would try for the price.

        • There's two products. One called "High Protein" and the other called "100% Whey".

The former is full of filler and is more of a "gainer" product.

          • @Wolfenstein98k: Yer know.
I dont get whey, but the 100% better for the same price.

  • Thanks OP. Selling out everywhere, but got some Whey

  • Is there a WPI only protein? Looks like their protein is a mix of WPI and WPC.

  • +1

Not sure if this is still on, but usually if you buy 10 bars in store, they give you extra 10% discount

    • +1

Yep it's still on..5% off when you buy 5 bar, and 10% of on 10 bars

  • i'm not finding the 2kg whey on their ebay store.

  • Decades ago (im 47) Mushashi were the first supps i tried because i didnt know any better. Long story short, my brand of choice for the has been Vital Strength. They have been the cheapest. I've been buying them from whomever is the cheapest (CW, AminoZ, ebay etc). Taste is acceptable.

  • +1

Aminoz emailed and said they will drop a wpi and creatine deal tomorrow afternoon. I did manage to pickup a tub of Musashi from this deal tho

    • Thanks for the heads up

  • +1

    No 100% WPI no deal

  • +1

Amino Z WPI deal incoming tomorrow so I'll hold off on protein.

Stocked upon proteins crisp bars though.

    • Is aminoz WPI significantly better? Was looking to get the mushashi shred and burn over aminoz

      • I would avoid the shred and burn it's a blend of WPC and milk protein - relatively low in protein, high in fat, high in carbs and has caffeine/green tea extract added.

WPI from aminoZ will have much better macro nutritional profile (assuming your after a protein supplement).

        edit:
        Musashi Shred/Burn: per 100g - 66.9p /9.6f/12.8c
        AminoZ WPI: per 100g - 86.3p/1.0f/4.5c

In other words Musashi is ~30% lower in protein, has about 10x more fat and 3x more carbs. (Depending on your goals will determine if this is better/worse but in a traditional fitness yes AminoZ is probably a better choice)

        • Is Shred/Burn better for losing weight? so much fat/sugar.

          • +2

@melb-ourne: Short answer: You are correct in thinking it would be a bad choice for weight loss.

Long answer: Imo if weight loss is the goal, it’s best to avoid shakes in general. They have to be used as replacements for physical food, which means you are drinking calories. For most people, this is less satiating/filling compared to eating them. Weight loss is dependent on calories consumed, ultimately doesn’t matter much whether they are from fat/carbs/protein. If you wanted to lose weight whilst maintaining muscle mass then a low-calorie but high-protein diet is best - in this case, the AminoZ shake would be a better option than Musashi’s offering. In saying this the Musashi shake is still a better afternoon snack then say a chocolate bar, Iced coffee, full sugar coke, etc.

It's probably labelled as shred/burn as it has caffeine and L-Carnitine in it - nothing to do with the protein/fat/carb content. The amount of L-carnitine is tiny - well below the levels shown to assist in body weight reduction (about 3% of what is in a serving of Oxyshred). Honestly, there aren't really any good weight-loss supplements if something is marketed as a Shred/Burn/Weight-loss/Thermogenic/Skinny/etc. I would just avoid it.

            • @OpticalCog: I ended up grabbing the shred & burn anyway. Similar protein levels to their regular whey but with added caffeine through some green tea and green coffee extracts.

    • What’s the deal tomorrow?

      • +1

Not sure yet, I just got an email earlier saying they will post a sale up tomorrow

  • Picking up C&C and no bars left on the shelf already - but did note that in store it's extra 5% / 10% off if buying 5 or more / 10 or more bars. $2.48/EA from a rrp of $6 is the best I've seen for these.
Also noticed they had the BSc bars less then half price too with extra 5/10% off - they're more of a treat bar but decent at that price for sure.

  • +1

I release Chernobyl farts when I take WPC but tempted to give this a go because of the price. 🤪 Been using only WPI for the past 4 years.

  • I used to buy a protein drink in the early 2000's from my gym it looked like Powerade it was a yellow drink it wasn't milk based but it was a protein drink I think it was Musashi but can't find it

    • So just to confirm, you're looking for a drink that you haven't seen in ~20 years?

  • Can anyone confirm if Musashi makes Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides? Looking for an alternative to the HCP from bulk nutrients.

  • +2

Got the chocolate whey. Picked up today and tried it and was very surprised at it being decently tasting. Good buy.

  • Sounds like a bargain to me. I paid a more expensive per kg price with myprotein and every flavour I've bought (chocolate, salted caramel, vanilla, honeycomb) has tasted like ass.

I also always hated the fact that myprotein uses a resealable bag rather than a screw top. Can never get a perfect seal, and I'm always worried about dropping the bag and losing all my powder lol.

    • Pretty similar experience with AminoZ except most of the flavours actually taste good. God I hate those resealable bags.

    • Yes another reason i don't mind getting 2kg of this stuff 'cheap'
It's probably not hard to choose the best flavors based on reviews, but would be annoying buying 4-5kg of the stuff and finding out it tastes crap or procures hideous farts. btw VPA and AminoZ have the benefit of ordering different flavors in 1kg bags.

  • Oof, ordered the 2kg last year for $43.99. Now $55.99

    • Not bad. Buy in bulk if you want discounts I guess.
      Almost everything has increased.

      • Yeah used to do the MP bulk buy + cashback for like $15/kg for shakes. I bought this last year (vanilla) just to mix with yoghurt as ON got too expensive. Their vanilla icecream is magic in greek yoghurt. Maybe I can find part of a group buy on the AminoZ 4kg deal. I only need 1kg though as I go through it pretty slow as only for yoghurt.

        • Yes and not everyone maintains the gym. I chucked a few 1kg bags of stuff a while ago that were over 2y best by.

          • @G-rig: I am still going through almost 3yr expired MP milk tea flavour. I bought them a while ago and got a refund due to very short expiry dates. Think I got like 15kg in one order. I haven't noticed any issues yet :) Still can understand why some people throw them out, I am just too much of a tightass with how much I go through

            • @knobbs: Yeah the CW expires aren't that long. Nov for mine or something. I'm happy to use up up 2y after the best before but any longer you should toss it. Anyway the cw prices were fine, I'm not planning on smashing them 3 times a day, just as a SUPPLEMENT to food ha.
