  • Does the discount stack with the 5% discount on the site?

    • +12

I tested it for you… no.

      • A true OzBargainer

      • I at first though you tasted it for them. Still, good on you :)

Our parent company, Biltong To Go

Obligatory drawing from Biltong To Go in 2017. I'm glad here they bought out Geronimo as their biltong is my favourite.

  • +1

Is there somewhere I can check nutritional information?

    • ^this. Need to see how many carbs are in their seasoning

    • +10

Thanks for your feedback, we'll get to work on adding it, hopefully within the next 15-20 mins (may be longer!)

      • +8

Nutritional Info is now up. The ones with added sugar is Pow Wow and the Wagyu Beef Jerky - Smokey BBQ flavours, which accordingly have higher carbs. The rest are low.

        • Wagyu Beef Jerky - Smokey BBQ seems to have the wrong nutritional info, it's the same image as Wagyu Beef Jerky - Chilli Chutney. Can you share the correct carb content please.

        • Thanks. Looks like I correctly ordered ones without sugar, fortunately.

        • Appreciate the quick upload. Will be ordering some for the proteinzzz

  • -8

I remember buying their jerkey before, shit was horrible, plastic sugary hard shit, not edible. There was a post about this a while ago.

    • +2

Good thing it's a completely different company now who have a good record of quality biltong.

      • +2

        it's a completely different company

That claim to have purchased the recipe from Geronimo and a making it the same way.

        • +1

If they made it the same way as the original Geronimo it'll be excellent. If they made it the same as the last crowd who did it differently then it'll be shit.

  • Are ingredients listed anywhere? I don't really like sweetness in jerky.

  • Thanks grabbed some :D

  • Grabbed some too.

Had mixed experiences in their early days, we will see what it's like now.

  • +1

I still don't understand how the original owner screwed up so badly? The old geronimo jerky was by far the best jerky I ever tasted.

    • +1

You make a good point. Seems The Big Chief has quite a few lives. :)

  • +1

I have been buying Geronimo since late 22 when I found out they were back up and running,
found the jerky to be consistently good! I've been waiting on a ozbargain discount deal thanks!!

    • +1

Thanks for this! I appreciate your support and positive feedback.

Yes we technically set up our website late last year as GeronimoBeefJerky.com.au pre-launch and technically accepted orders but did not do any promoting. We had a few trickle in.
We then waited to acquire the geronimojerky.com.au domain back (which had been stolen by someone else).
About a week ago we did our 'soft launch', and this week we are ready for our 'hard launch' — if that makes sense.

      • Loud and clear! 😊 Glad yous are back in full force I love me some buckshot 😁😁

  • I came in angry as I never received my last order and zero communication… new management was a surprise! Tnx, I'll give it a shot, I loved the original product.

    Cheers,

    • +2

It’s about the 3rd or 4th time it’s been under new management. Happens every couple of years. At least this new parent company looks like they’ve been around for a while.

  • +1

    Buy buy buy πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘

We are new and improved Geronimo jerky fo sure πŸ˜‰

  • +4

Just did quick search most biltong posted on ozbargain around $55 a kg,this is around $100 a kg after discount, not sure if it is worth according to comments

    • +3

This is jerky not biltong, jerky is always around $100/kg

  • I added $138.47 of goods to cart.
30% discount brings it to $103.91.
    Charging me $6.99 for shipping?

    No free shipping with coupon?

    • $138.47 minus 30% = $96.93
Because the order is under $100, there is a $6.99 shipping charge.

      I hope this helps

      • Ah maths, thanks. Didn’t realise the $138.47 included postage.

  • Anyone out Currumbin way and have news on Silvers?

Did he just stop doing online jerky sales, or did he close his butcher too?

Best jerky id ever had by a very large margin.

    • Agreed!! I've never had better than silver's. That's my benchmark. If anyone has tried both silver's and this one, I'd like to know how this one rates against it.

  • +3

Hmmmm…..its not CRAZY cheap. I wish it was. Because I have enjoyed their flavours in the past. Alot.

But…you can get 500grams of Byron Bay Jerky delivered for $50.00 from Amazon. OR with this Geronimo deal…..

Buying 2 x 480 grams + 1 x 195 grams from Geronimo will get you free shipping, but that total comes to $109.17 with the discount, for 1.155kgs of Jerky.

Just ended up buying the Byron Bay stuff, which is quite good IMO, don't have to spend as much to get a decent deal.

    • +2

Yeah I'll probs go the Byron route too. I imagine the quality is great, maybe even better with the new management and new flavours. However a $100 order to make free shipping isn't really worth it for me, especially when ik Byron is a safe bet and I don't really need 1kg of jerky.

      • Yeah, that was my thinking. Didn't want to pooh pooh this deal too much though, and I wish them success. They do have some yummy flavour options. It's just that, for me, buying Jerky is already a "luxury item" so need to be sensible when it comes to $$$ spent.

        • +4

Just checked and the Geronimo is around 72% protein while the Byron is 51%. Indicates that the Geronimo is significantly higher proportion beef rather than water weight which easily justifies the price premium. Decided to cancel the Byron and get the Geronimo even if I have to pay shipping.

          • @exit: That does sound better. Would definitely prefer Geronimo in that case but $50 is the budget lol

            • +1

              @blazinchoppa: 2x 195g + 1x 40g Geronimo fits within $50 even if you include shipping

When you’re buying from Byron, the shipping cost is already included in the price

Overall for $50 you get 310g protein with Geronimo or 255g with Byron lol

              • @exit: If you need protein,you should buy this 330 upvotes https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/776253

                • +3

@yuisakas: I’m using protein as a direct proxy for how much beef you’re actually getting. Not because I want to maximise protein intake when eating jerky.

                  • @exit: You made the point but not sure fat has more protein but if its same grade of meat more dry for sure = more meat

                    • @yuisakas: Yeah interesting, does seem like there is differences in cut of meat with Byron having more fat, which is a key contributor to the differences.

      • See my comment above. IMO geronimo is the better deal even with $7 shipping

        • Yeah good point. I should have checked that, nice sleuthing work from you there! Byron Jerky already shipped and arriving today however. The May 2023 jerky budget already blown. Maybe I could borrow a little from next month's budget so I can reminisce with some Geronimo gear…by the way, is this stuff tax deductible πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‰

    • Byron jerky is terrible, it's dry and hard. I bought in thinking same but regret it. I'll never buy that crap again.

      • It's supposed to be dry and hard isn't it? I've always enjoyed it anyway πŸ˜„

        • No it's not, but yeah different tastes I guess. Maybe I should send you my Byron jerky lol

  • +3

I used to buy this stuff my the truck load, man like 10 years ago? Loved it. But back then I was young and life was full of adventure and freedom. Sure I made less money back then but there was always enough to buy some sweet sweet jerky.

  • +2

Can we get some deals on biltong too? Pretty pretty please!

  • +1

I thought Viking Jerky bought the recipe? Did you buy it from them or are you both making the same jerky.

  • Loved these jerky before. But from the picture, it might not be 100% the same as the old recipe? I remember the meat to be brown in colour rather than red as per picture.

I quite like the texture on the old one, which is pretty different from most jerky that it's more chewy. Hopefully they keep the texture too

    • Verdict: flavour and texture are close to what i remember them, but i remember the old one being more spicy.

The old geronimo also used to be more dry and more "stringy" from the texture of the beef, which i preferred.
This new one is also cut to bite-sized pieces and are uniform in thickness. While it's easier to eat, it's also less fun and feels more processed.

Overall it's doing an alright job in replicating it, but doubt I'll buy again without bigger discount.
Oh also it's not resealable unlike the previous one..

  • Oh wow, they're back! Used to be obsessed with this jerky in mid 2010s. My jaw and tmj flare up was painful, but worth it.
I miss the Buckshot and original

  • I'm still waiting for my free samples have they been shipped yet???

    • I guess not many people here from 2009….I thought this was a banger

  • time to STOCK-UP!

  • Are these gluten free?

  • +2

Any chance of the discount being extended to your biltong products?

Free shipping for orders above $100 does not seem to work…

    • +1

After the discount, your order is $99.94, which is under $100, so there is a shipping fee of $6.99, bringing the total to $106.93

      I hope this helps
      Thanks

      • Oh… ops. Maths fail on my part. Thanks for your reply.

  • Can't say that didn't arrive quickly (Melbourne). Thanks.

    • +2

Very dry, very chewy and not sweet (for the ones I bought). Nothing like supermarket jerky. It's my second time trying jerky, so I'm no expert, but a thumbs up from me.

Probably the only negative is that the packages are not resealable, but that's no different with others.

      • +2

Did you get normal shipping or express? Mine hasn't even been posted yet from what I can gather, no shipping email, no tracking in the Aus post app.

        • +1

Me neither incidentally looks like they haven't posted it

        • Bought normal ($100+, so free delivery). Got express.

  • +1

    Good price.

Can I suggest that you update the photos to be the actual product, it’s the same photo for every type of flavour. Would be nice to actually see the pepper one, the chilli one…

  • Very fast delivery. I got my order in Melbs within a few days. Tried the Teriyaki one so far, wasn't impressed. It's very dry and chewy.

I'm a bit confused though, as someone above outlines exactly that however is happy as it's not like 'supermarket jerky'. I'm not sure what to think. I used to grab jerky from a speciality store in LaTrobe St in the city and it was always tender and flavourful. I've never really been a fan of jerky like boot leather.

    • Different brands have different levels of dryness. Geronimo are certainly one of the dry ones out there. When I want something to be moist I go for biltong instead.

Supermarket jerky is usually loaded with sugar.

      • +1

Can't stand supermarket jerky, as I'm usually spitting out balls of chewy meat. I'm finding the Geronimo Jerky brand similar.

The Jerky House in Bourke St, Melb is the one I was referring to which has super tender stuff.

        • +2

You're thinking of Bak Kwa. Thats a whole different type of "jerky".

  • Ordered on 24th May and still no fulfilment confirmation or explanation for delay (as per their shipping policy )

    • I am on the same boat ORDER #81237

      • Thanks for your patience. Your order #81237 has just been fulfilled.

        • Are the orders not processed in order? My order #81228 has not been processed yet…

          • @Charlieeee: Hi, thanks for your patience, I'm pleased to see it was delivered today.

    • Same here.

    • Same here. Only received an order confirmation email, nothing else.

      Hi folks,
Please give me til the end of today to reply to any outstanding enquiries about orders - as you can imagine we have been very busy.
      Thank you for your patience.

      • Hi,
Could you also chk order 81271, thx!

        • Hi bubblebobble2, Many thanks for your order and patience
I'm pleased to see your order was dispatched and is on its way to you. It was estimated to arrive today, but at the time of writing it has not yet been delivered (hopefully by the end of the day!)

          Thanks

      • -1

        Where is my sample?

      • Order #81367, can you check mine too please

  • Got mine - found the BBQ one chewy and greasy. Shame :(

    • Sorry to hear that. Please note that the BBQ one is wagyu beef jerky which has marbling which is fatty and is therefore quite greasy.
Im not sure why you would find it chewy though, its normally softer because of the fat.
The non-wagyu jerky we sell is lean and not greasy.

  • Mine arrived today - the buckshot is so good, very close to what I remember. The pieces are cut differently to how the old Big Chief used to do it, more square. Also the 40g bags are much larger, so it looks like you get less in each (even though you don't).

    Overall though, glad you're back!

  • Mine took a while to arrive, very salty though. Overall pretty good

  • So sad missed the promo :(

  • -1

Can you refund my order if not shipped yet, ordered over a week ago with express shipping, no shipping notification yet… Order #81364
