First time post, full time lurker.

Went to check dell's annual EOFY and came across this by accident.

Was hoping for Muzeeb to bless us with some cheap alienware monitors for EOFY but found this instead. Checked yesterday evening and it was sitting at $814. Possibly the cheapest its ever been with Uniday code?

Price reference below for codes you use

Have been looking at getting a Gigabyte m32u but comparison wise this beats it by a small margin in picture quality and you lose the USB C upstream.

received my panel today, connected it up and wow, what an upgrade coming from a 1440 panel.

  • +1

Very happy my monitor sprung to life. Dell trying to offer me G3223D. What a rort

    • it arrived DOA and then started working? what did you do?

      • He put a few comments above about leaving it switched on for a couple hours, connecting to different PC, and mashing the buttons and power button on the monitor.

However… he never had the blue light on the back of the monitor. So possibly a different issue. Most DOA descriptions on here say they had blue power light but no OSD.

        • I see. lucky fella

this deal is such a bad case for Dell, so many DOA

          • @shabaka: I feel very fortunate I was one of the lucky ones

            • @chriise: same. mine works from day 1

now that I set up g-sync correctly on my 3070 it's day and night in games compared to the previous 60hz monitor

    • got the same offer for replacement..
Guess I'll keep the one as the color looks good once switched a color profile. Just need to recalibrate it when I connect to different thing I guess.

      • What colour profile did you do?

        • On windows I don’t know, but in macOS there’s a Generic RGB profile and I think that looks the closest to my other displays.

  • I have a Dell Latitude 5420 notebook and a Dell D3100 docking station. My other monitor is a 1080HD Dell P2722H. I want to replace my docking station to get the best output for the new primary monitor. Which model of Dell docking station will be suitable? Any help will be appreciated.

    • Your best bet would be to connect the G3223Q directly to a TB port. Connect the old monitor to the laptop's HDMI port.

    • Max the dock can do is 4k 30hz. Most docks have this limit. You'll probably need to connect monitor it directly to Thunderbolt port and put the dock in the drawer. Connect the other monitor with HDMI, and use a USB Hub for your USB stuff. Although with a monitor this size you probably don't need dual monitors.

  • Has anyone encountered a problem with no sound while connecting the Nintendo Switch?

  • Anyone with a working one, did it set to 8bit or 10bit colour by default? (Advanced display settings where refresh rate is set)
I had to force it in Geforce settings

  • Need a bit of help, when my monitor goes to standby mode and the power button is white colour, breathing, screen is off, when I move the mouse it should turn on the screen and come out of standby but it doesn't, I press the keyboard and nothing. I have to turn off the monitor on the power button and turn it on again to get out of the standby mode, why is this happening? I didn't have this with my previous Dell monitor, any settings I should look into on the monitor or pc? I haven't changed any power settings on the pc.

    Thanks in advance.

    • is your mouse plugged into the monitor USB ports? there's a setting to turn on/off USB power when the monitor is off, could that be your issue?

      • +1

It's plugged into the pc, not the monitor, thanks for the advice but it didn't help, wasnt the issue.

  • With the amount of monitors Ozbargain fans purchased in this lot, I reckon we could create a poll of DOA monitors to understand failure rate (eg 1% or 10% DOA?).

    • I received mine 2 days ago and it powered up (phew). The updated firmware M3T103 is installed, including windows monitor driver.

However, I've had a few monitor disconnections in a day. I suspect it's my setup, which includes laptop Thunderbolt to Razer Core X, then Nvidia graphics DP out to Dell monitor. When Dell monitor loses signal, I will then have to disable and re-enable the Nvidia display adapter in Device Manager, and a reboot. I didn't have this issue with my previous Benq monitor connected (via HDMI though). I'll continue to tinker to see if I can resolve.

      • Mine was T101 firmware when I received it, I suspect you got someone elses return after they upgraded the firmware?

My monitor switched off for a moment when it reaches the windows login screen, but only when using DP. Thought it may have been related to having two other (different) monitors plugged in (also via DP). It doesn't seem to do it (so far) using HDMI. My old monitor setup didn't do this from what I recall.

        • Thanks for your comment. Sorry I didn't make it clear that it was me who updated the firmware from T101 to T103, so I believe it should be new.

I'm currently running the monitor using a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, then DP cable. Appears to be stable at 4K 60Hz. As aside, my Nvidia card can drive the monitor at 144Hz via DP, but I need to investigate the occasional device disconnections.

I also want to note that when I have HDR on (while on USB-C to DP), there is slight flickering that is obvious when the background is white. When HDR is off in Windows, then background is stable. This sounds like the experience of some other users of this monitor also. Not saying it's because of the monitor, could be a combination of factors (eg. adapter, cable).

  • Bright pixel defect on mine. Pretty disappointed. They offered a G3223D as replacement. Pretty sneaky not to mention the difference in specs (2K vs 4K panel) in their email. I haven't accepted the replacement. Waiting to hear if they're able to offer anything better.

    • Yeh probably offered the G3223D because they found not much luck trying to push the SE3223Q as replacement, You will be lucky if they offer anything better

A lot of us DOA folk have asked for refund and moved on.

    • Bright pixel isnt too bad. Try run some pixel utilities overnight to see if it goes away. Even if it doesnt id probably keep the monitor unless it was red in the middle

    • I've found a single dead pixel, but had to look for it to find it. There may be more that I'd have to check closer to find. I can accept it as is.

      • Oops. Do you have a photo?

    • If getting replaced with G3223D I prefer to have a refund instead.

  • Could anybody please tell me how do I disable the blue LED back light? I have the updated firmware M3T103, also do have the display manager downloaded, but can't really find a clue. Any youtube link will be fine. Thank you.

    • It’s in the last category of the OSD

  • I placed my order on the 2nd of June and I haven't received it yet, startrack said: "Please be advsied this consignment is currently being held at our depot due to poor packaging. We have contacted the sender so they can provide the next steps and we are now waiting for their response." What a mess!

    • +1

if you haven't received any dell monitors before, there's no packaging

it's just the monitor box slapped delivery label onto

there's a tiny clear sticker or two preventing the box from opening before it gets to you

      maybe the stickers came off..

at least when ordering from Dell outlet theres sticky tape sealing the box properly..

  • Another DOA here should have ordered two and returned one lesson learnt.

  • Has anyone turned on Windows HDR or should we leave it off?

    • It works. Used it to watch some 4k HDR footage in VLC.

      • Nice, I turned mine on after updating the firmware and had some screen flickering. I turned Windows HDR off and the screen off. Turned it back on and Win HDR on, and so far so good. Strange.

    • +2

I turned it off forever. looks way better this way imo

  • Has anyone seen the price of the monitor drop off their credit/debit card despite having monitor delivered and not requesting refund. According to my bank and research it seems to happen somewhat often and Dell will eventually come for what they are owed. I can't be bothered waiting but dreading dealing with customer service.

  • +1

Happy to report mine has arrived and so far so good. :)

  • +2

This has been the best deal for me…Monitor is perfect and just got back $125 from amex, So for a toat of $375.60 it's amazing…thanks again OP

    • How do you get back from Amex?

      • It was an offer on my business platinum card…Says up to $125 which can be used twice. Got the whole amount back.

    • lucky. mine had ips glow out the wazoo and because it's not full bandwidth hdmi 2.1 it has problems in many use cases

  • DOA for me :( I'll leave it alone until tomorrow night and hopefully it will magically start working, like it did for someone else.

Currently, I'm experiencing issues with a black screen and no OSD Menu. The blue light at the back is still lit.

    Otherwise, it's refunding time!

    • +1

You should refund mate, don't waste your time to try to fix it or contact Dell to replace another one (the 1st time they offer to exchange model SE3223Q, and the 2nd time is model G3223D, they tell me model G3223Q is end of life, so they don't have it anymore).

I will be going to pay more $200 to buy from another lucky guy for this model G3223Q, because I'm really like this one.

  • I just received mine today. Fortunately, no issues so far.

    • Same here, just need to update the firmware.

  • Anyone managed to access the service menu for this model?
Check the link below it seems that there's more color calibration setting that can be adjusted in the service menu:
    https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/UP3216Q-service-menu…

But the key combination does not work on this one..
This could be a fix to the color issue.. if we are able to get that menu.

  • Remember when they used to use UHD Monitor tags under the Title.. Pepperidge Farm Remembers

  • +2

This monitor is just awesome. Just needed a Cable Matters display port to usb-c cable and firmware upgrade to make it run at 144hz with VRR(48hz to 144hz) on macbook pro 2021. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is light bleeding from the bottom of the screen when I'm close to it but it almost goes away if I'm like 60-70cm from it.

    • Macbook is Intel or M1/M2?
BTW, I raised a case with Apple about killing working DSC feature, which unlocks hight refresh rates, in Big Sur. 144Hz worked in previous MacOS versions on Intel Macs.

      • M1

        • Yeah, thought so. We, peasants with Intel Macs, struggle.

    • +1

32" and ips glow (bleeding) is guaranteed almost . sucks

      • yeah, I only notice it on dark view but it doesn't bother me much so quite satisfied

        • +1

Yeah I ended up keeping it.

  • Jumped on this deal without checking with the missus. Keen to offload before she finds out to anyone who missed out or DOA. Located in Perth.

    • @ChrisVo I believe was looking for the unit

      • I found a guy selling it in Melb, need to pay more $200 to buy his lucky :D

    • Mine was DOA and I want one, but I am located in Brisbane :( Will you ship?

    • +1

Jumped on this deal without checking with the missus. Keen to offload before she finds out

Monitor over missus. That's the way.

    • Totally agree. If someone got it in working order, that was a real bargain. Output is really awesome. I have three Dell monitors, all have some degree of light bleeding (only visible in the darkroom and sitting very close). I think this is acceptable.

Sorry, this was a response to "getadealmate" post above. Posted in the wrong place.

  • The monitor arrived on 7th, I opened the box on 9th and set it up. Screen was damaged, cracks were visible upon turning the monitor on.
Opened up a return/refund case, they asked for photos and now returning the monitor. Bit annoyed that I won't get this kind of specs at this price anymore.
They offered G3223D, upon checking the specs, I declined and asked for a refund.
Hopefully someone will snag it refurbed in coming months.

  • Did anyone get the problem when alt-tabbing fullscreen games take a few seconds of the black screen or know how to fix it?

    • +1

I think this is normal. It takes a few seconds as you are normally going from a gsync signal to a regular desktop signal with a refresh rate change. My old monitor took a few seconds as well

    • This is a DSC problem.

Dell say this is HDMI 2.1 monitor, it's not proper 2.1, it's only 24gbps not 48gbps that means DSC is in use and that makes 3-4s blackscreen alt tab.

  • anyone got any issues with no sound output option from the monitor? I already have a external speaker and I plug it to the one under the monitor, but my laptop cannot detect it and I cannot select different sound output?

  • They gave me a different monitor as a replacement and it arrived with a big ol crack in the screen lol. Should've just gone for the refund option instead. At least I don't have to pay for them to retrieve both monitors.

    • Gee, did you go for the G3223D in the end?

I ended up going for refund, but am still waiting on them to pickup, they only yesterday finalised for carrier to organise pickup

Hope you'll be able to resolve smoothly

      • Yeah, G3223D was a better monitor than what I had anyway so I was fine with it.

Their pickup carriers seem the most dodgy quality company I've ever seen.

Hopefully no more dramas for either of us

        • yeah, too much drama for this one

          • @OkeyDokey87: The Dell Drama monitor :(
Sorry and surprised to hear so many have problems, mine is fine.

  • If I am just watching movies and WFH, i.e. no gaming, does it make a difference between 60hz and 120/144hz?

If so, what is the cheapest graphics card I need to get 120/144?

    • +1

No, the difference will be a bit of smoother cursor and window movement and that’s all.

If you watch YouTube that’s 4K 60 max, Netflix is 4K 30 max

  • Mine is also DOA, thouht it was just unlucky until seeing comments here…

    • So sad, let's refund mate, don't try to fix it or contact Dell to replace, I had to pay $200 to buy another one from a lucky guy.

      • Have to bite the bullet for a refund, damn it

  • Anyone having issues using this monitor with Macs? Im connecting via USB-C To DP which works fine and gives 144hz but noticing the USB hub on the monitor no longer works nor do the USB-C ports on the macbook work when trying to connect a wireless mouse and its dongle part

Also noticing that despite being 144hz it doesnt appear as such when scrolling vertically on webpagws i can feel jaggerd-ness as if its 60hz yet strangely enough if i have full screened pages and do that 3 finger swipe to another tab horizontally its buttery smooth

    Any thoughts?

  • OK so Dell is now telling me they will have stock of G3223Q in July, and told me to close my current request and open a new one in July to ask for a replacement. I will do that because I don't really need it now, so we will see how it goes.

    • Can you provide any chat script or screenshot so I can use that against my support agent?

      • A bit hard to do screenshot without showing my work email address and name, so below are the emails correspondences:
        Good day to you.

Dell Technologies | System Exchange Team

        Hi Alfiya,

        Thank you for your email.

Will it be possible for me to wait for a replacement unit for G3223Q? The two options you mentioned have inferior specs and cheaper compared to the monitor I ordered.

        Best Regards

Thank you for writing back to us.

We will transfer your request to our internal team and update you accordingly.

        Regards,
        Alfiya Ansari

        Good day to you.

WE have checked with our internal team, Dell 32 Gaming Monitor - G3223D is the best suitable option for replacement.

As advice G3223Q is available in July. If you want to wait for the same, Please advice so we will proceed to close this request for now.

Once we proceed to close this case you need to contact to our technical support team in July to raise new request.

        • I got the similar (below) message, I can still use the monitor as it is working with yellow tint and occasional flickering. Not sure if they will replace it with new in July or just send out a refurbished one.

          "Thanks for the email.

Please note Dell 32 Gaming Monitor - G3223Q is not available in the stock to offer you, hence we can offer you the closest match as Dell 32 Gaming Monitor - G3223D.

As per update from the internal team there is more stock of the Dell 32 Gaming Monitor - G3223Q coming in July. If you can wait until July then please raise a fresh request in July.

Suggest us how would you like to proceed here.

          Regards,"

Have asked them, G3223D is a fair step down from G3223Q, I am happy to wait till July to receive G3223Q as the replacement.
Can you please confirm, it will be a new build and not a refurbished one. Secondly the warranty will reset from July?

Let's see what response I will get back.

          • @jack2015: all monitors in this model have the same colour profile which is a little yellow. You need to calibrate yourself. I did it and now the white is super white. Satisfied.

            • @sicaboy: Hi could i ask what settings you changed? Mines a touch yellow as well

              • @Pelilah: If you are on macOS, go to system settings > Display > Select the monitor > Colour Profile > Customise > Click + sign when holding Option key.

For other OS, you may need to Google how

            • @sicaboy: care to share your profile? O shared mine below. yes perfectly white now 🙂

    • Man their support is all over the place.

It would be almost comical if the stock in July are all refurbs of the faulty units that are all being sent back.

      • +1

        This is the way

      • I’d actually be okay with sending back my monitor and them fixing it and sending back. Instead of all this drama

      • seriously though, keep checking Dell Outlet they will resurface fixed and tested. have no idea what the price is going to be tho

parking these 2 useful links here for those who want to set up their NVIDIA cards correctly for tear-free G-Sync experience with this monitor. or any other G-Sync compatible monitor pretty much

    long story short:

    • enable G-Sync in NVIDIA control panel (NCP)
    • enable V-Sync in NCP (set it to On, not Fast)
    • set frame limit to refresh rate minus 3 (144 - 3 = 141) - in-game limiter if possible, otherwise use NCP limiter
    • disable any vertical sync in-game

    done

  • Help & Advice regarding those dell customer's services…
i bought this sreen, however the lower flat base stand stand was damaged/dented
i asked for replacement, dell reply no stock
they tried to offer an uncompatible stand, also offered the G3223D variant or refund ..

So alot of u dealt with them before, the screen is working… so… idea's

    • Get a good monitor arm lol, and see if they can partially refund you for the broken stand? (I assume they probably will say no to this)
