First time post, full time lurker.

Went to check dell's annual EOFY and came across this by accident.

Was hoping for Muzeeb to bless us with some cheap alienware monitors for EOFY but found this instead. Checked yesterday evening and it was sitting at $814. Possibly the cheapest its ever been with Uniday code?

Price reference below for codes you use
UniDay code - $490.04

Have been looking at getting a Gigabyte m32u but comparison wise this beats it by a small margin in picture quality and you lose the USB C upstream.

  • Mine still shows as not yet shipped, estimated ship date 5th June, estimated delivery date still 6th June. Clearly it ain't coming today if it hasn't even shipped yet but not even an update yet but people who ordered super late are already getting them - WTF?

    • It's just luck of the draw. I didn't order super late, but mine was marked as shipped last night and the order tracking shows that it has arrived from Sydney to Melbourne depot. Whether it gets delivered today or not, I am not sure.

    • Same…ordered pretty early still hasn't shipped.

  • I'm hoping the 15th June is just a worst case and we see it shipped in the next day or two

  • +1

still no delivery confirmation, supposed to be delivered today lol

  • My status just changed from in production to shipped. I've ordered towards the end of round 1. Scheduled shipment date was 05/06 and expected delivery 06/06. Shipped today and says it's arriving soon but no tracking available yet so probably will come tomorrow.

    • Yep same here, just changed to shipped and arriving soon.

  • Ordered not long after this came up (before sold out) but mine is also delayed to 15th.

    • Upon the comment, just got SMS for delivery tomorrow.

  • I got delayed until the 15th, but just checked my order and now it says shipped and due for delivery tomorrow.

For everyone who got the delayed email, check your order status again to see if it has been updated.

  • I ordered this before 9am, received delay email last night until the 15/Jun.
just check the order status, and it is shipped…
I did sent an email to complain this morning, not sure if it's the reason lol

  • Dell are so quick! I ordered one this Sat (5 am on June 3rd) and it just arrived now (11.55 am on June 6th - Syd Metro)

    • +1

more like they are so messy with their delivery system. Many of those here ordered at early stages still have not received their monitor.

      • +1

        Last in First out lol

  • Was in the first-round buyers, just had my status changed to shipped, estimated arrival was today but now says arriving soon. Startrack says it's arriving tomorrow.

  • I just got mine now, very fast, box looks a bit beaten up, so hopefully it's good when I take it out.

  • Mine just shipped even though i was advised 15th.

  • +2

Got delivery this morning about 11am.

FYI shipped with firmware M3T101 can download and update driver to M3T103 here

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetai…

    • How's the monitor?

      • So I am coming from a S2721DGF which will now be my secondary monitor and it looks much warmer and is fairly noticeable when side by side.

I have changed the below so far

        Brightness 80
        Contrast 75
Preset Mode - Creator with colour space sRGB

Will have a bit more of a play around tonight/over the next couple of days.

        • I'm running brightness 36 for 100 nits, had to do hue 99 red 99 green 100 blue to get 0.5 delta ae (very accurate RGB) , out of box it was 1.4 ae at 100-100-100.

no ips glow/yellow torch effect anywhere on monitor, but bottom left and bottom right have very slight 2/10 white glow but cannot tell in normal use only full black.

        • I'll be upgrading from the same S2721DGF :)

        • Which one is warmer?

    • whats the difference with the drivers? is tehre any improvements?

      • It's listed on the download page:

        Fixes & Enhancements
        1. Fix to enhance compatibility with HD22Q dock
        2. Fix to enhance compatibility with Intel Graphics driver in HDR mode
  • Anyone else have no tracking info coming up on ST yet? Just says Tracking number does not appear to have been scanned in our network, please contact your merchant/sender for assistance.

    • Worth checking in your AusPost app.

    • I've had that for about 2 hours. It just showed up now, ETA as expected tomorrow.

  • +1

For the normal office works (emails, word processing, web browsing etc.) would the HDMI cable supplied with the monitor be okay to connect to the Dell notebook HDMI 2.0 port? The notebook does not have a DisplayPort. What output can I expect from this HDMI 2.0 connection? Thank you.

    • Do you have USB-C/Thunderbolt port? That would be better

  • +1

    Monitor just got delivered. Yay.

  • Mine was out for delivery today, but no one was home to accept it.

Does anyone know whether it'll get taken to the post office for collection, or I have to rearrange delivery?

    • If startrak then usually taken to your local post office.

    • When checking from aupost tracking, it says "This delivery doesn't require a signature. It will be left, if it's safe to do so."

  • +4

For setting it up (and initial tasks), this video will be very helpful for non-tech savvy people:

  • received mine a couple hours back. was simple to replace outgoing S2722QC on the Dell monitor arm.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/619530

MSA20 was the best purchase I have ever made. tool-less mount for majority of Dell monitors including this one.

  • At 9:36am this morning Startrak tracking showed that it was delivered at 1:48pm today. Woohoo, time travel. Of course it hasn't showed up as yet and it is 5pm.

  • For those with this monitor, are you able to switch between HDMI1 and HDMI2 (to different PCs)? I can only get one HDMI port to work for some reason.

    • I don’t have that setup so can’t test. But from what I read, there were some weird issues with the original firmware of random blackouts and such, so may be related. Try updating firmware first, there is a comment above where to get it.

      • I have updated the firmware but can’t get switch between HDMI1 and HDMI2 for some reason.

        • That is a bit odd. Are you using the provided cables? Tried switching ports, cables etc to try and isolate the issue?

    • can switch fine between hdmi1 and DP

      • Same. I can switch fine between hdmi1 and DP - but not HDMI1 to HDMI2.

        • weird. tried updating firmware? my unit came with version 101 while there's 103

scratch that I can see above you did that already.

          no idea then mate

  • Does anyone know how to fix this error?

"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 3840x2160, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications."

Surface Laptop 4 + Microsot USB-C Travel Hub; both meant to support 4K60.

  • You are going to want to update firmware, I had g sync flickering very badly at first. Did the firmware update and played my game no issue.
Fingers crossed that’s all it needed.

  • +15

Got my monitor, here's what I have done so far:

    • Download and install new firmware (from here). You will need to plug in the USB cable provided in the box.
    • Download and install new drivers (see above link)
    • Download and install Dell Display Manager (see above link) -> This will enable 10-bit range
    • Ensure resolution is set to 3840 x 2160
    • Set scaling to 125% (or your own preference)
    • Set refresh rate to max (144hz)
    • In the menu options for the monitor go to Game > Preset Modes > Creator. This will set colour mode to sRGB and Gamma to 2.2 (personal preference, but recommended by rtings)
    • In the menu options for the monitor go to Display > Smart HDR > Custom Colour HDR. This will set the new HDR mode available to you by the new firmware update and is the recommended HDR mode by rtings
    • I switched off AMD Freesync Premium Pro and ensure nVidia Gsync was enabled via nVidia Control Panel

Feel free to share alternative settings below.

    • +1

how do you switch off amd freesync premium pro? and why

    • "I switched off AMD Freesync Premium Pro and ensure nVidia Gsync was enabled via nVidia Control Panel "

hey mate, how do you do this ?
My Nvidia Gsync dissapears when I have my AMD Freesync Premium turned off (on the monitor).

How did you get into Gsync after turning off the AMD Freesync Premium?

      Thanks in advance

      • You're right!

Sorry, I must have switched on G-Sync and then noticed the AMD Freesync option in the monitor settings, not realising switching that off also took away G-Sync functionality. I have now switched Freesync back on to enable G-Sync and will test this out and do some more research. Hopefully you can sort out the text fringing issue mentioned in the comments below.

        • +1

          No worries mate.

I did some research and found is the colour.
If you set to YCB 422 in the Nvidia Panel, the issues goes away but the colour will be affected, it is noticeable.

Else disable AMD Freesync seems to remove this text fringing issue. I think is due to the fact this Monitor is NOT GSync certified, I could be wrong.

    • Set refresh rate to max (144hz)

      how do you do this?

  • Just found out that my laptop's HDMI only supports 4K at 30Hz (which I suppose is 1.4 instead of 2.0?), probably has to buy a mini DP to DP cable or upgrade to a desktop PC :) Thank you OP for the amazing deal!

  • anymore ? hahaha i missed the deal lol…….

  • For anyone else who got one - how's the panel uniformity when using the HDR600 display profile? I just got mine and it look like this…is this normal?

    • +2

definitely not, looks like a broken backlight.

    • +1

      What the? Return that shit.

  • is anyone else getting wild fringing when viewing text on white backgrounds? all black appears to have some halo effect to my eyes

    • I had this problem til i followed the steps above.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13857723/redir

      • -1

Ah I had done all that as well to check but still happens

        • I have this issue as well and been doing a lot of troubleshooting.
I can see it is a AMD Freesync compatilibity issue with NVIDIA GSYNC.
It should solve the issue if you disable AMD Freesync on the options menu in the monitor.

Unfortunately this means GSYNC will not function as well.

          • @dante_cool: Also had this issue, turns out it was chroma subsampling because my graphics card doesn't support 4k at 144hz or DSC, so colour resolution was being knocked down and making parts of text look blue / yellow.

If your text looks similar, change the refresh rate to something that's fully supported by your card and the weird text colours will disappear.

See this reddit thread for an example and better description: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/z5ddai/strange_te…

            • @shallowculture: hey, thanks for providing further info and i'll give this a go and report back. I feel like the issue was still happening at 60hz but I could be mistaken and will confirm.

              • @peter05: No worries! If you've also got an Nvidia card, you can make sure its sending full RGB by going to Nvidia control panel > Display > Change Resolution> Use Nvidia Colour Settings> Output Colour Format: RGB.

                • @shallowculture: I've reduced to 120hz but i dont have the option for "output format:RGB" Any ideas?

                  • +1

@Pelilah: It should show up like in the screenshot half way down the page here under "Nvidia Solutions" heading:
                    https://pcmonitors.info/articles/correcting-hdmi-colour-on-n…

Allegedly updating Nvidia drivers / re-installing the Nvidia Control Panel can fix bugs like it not showing up. Otherwise maybe unsupported on card?

For anyone on AMD / Radeon, then in Radeon setting app its called Pixel Format > chose RGB 4:4:4.

                    Hope that helps!

                    • @shallowculture: Thank you so much for the assistance.
Im not at home right now to test but could it be limitations of my card or even the DP cable?

Im running a EVGA 1070ftw + DP cable to pc. Im fairly certain the 1070 has DP1.4 though but im not sure if its another feature that limits the capability.

                      • @Pelilah: Ah no problems! Then I'd say you'll have to knock it down to 60hz and it should show up with RGB / 4:4:4.
Your card supports DP1.4, more an issue with higher framerates.

I'm also running a MSI 1070, and they can't do high framerates at 4k without also using chroma subsampling… which then messes with the text when using for work :) ( You can always switch up framerate when gaming and back down when working to avoid text colours issue )

On the lookout for a better card, but the monitor was such a steal I got it first!

                        • @shallowculture: I've got the same issue on my 1070. Display port 4k 144 can't do RGB. It drops it to 422. To get RGB need to drop it to 60hz. I think it's because card doesn't support DSC

                      • @Pelilah: have you tried the cable coming out of the box? They may look all the same but if you're reusing a cable that is already there due to convenience, it may be reducing the signal available and causing the compression.

I found that I couldn't go past 60hz with my existing cable but using the one out of the box fixed the issue

                        • @peter05: Thanks mate. I used an existing cable thats routed through my monitor arm.

Ill give this a go and will let you know how i go.

If not… next step will be to wait for a new card… maybe 6900 xt when it goes on sale? @shallowculture thoughts?

                          • @Pelilah: Nice, ohhh looks Fantastic! Always that gamble of how much you want to spend / what you need it for / how much will it drop.
Prices are insane atm though, so agree to waiting for a sale!

        • Same done the steps and it is still clearly warmer than my other displays. Color looks faded and white looks warm..

  • +3

Did anyone else's arrive faulty? My screen turns on and is recognised by my PC. But no video…

    • Same here :(

I tried all the tips from dell about power cycling, but nothing has worked

Going to contact for replacement but forgot to take photo of serial and am currently at work

I'm guessing you also are not able to even access the OSD monitor menu? Display port and Hdmi not working for me but yes, computer can detect monitor and change resolution etc. Just doesnt display

      • Yeah exact same issue. Can't even open the monitor menu. Dell's support page has so many options to choose. Don't want to deal with someone asking me if I've tried turning it off and on :(

        • I was going to try technical support through contact us link, but need the serial number to continue. May try if they have a chat or email option later since their support should be in office now.

          • @Teal: I just got a reply from their service team saying the monitor is no longer in production and they can only offer a refund….wtf

            • @mszoidberg: Gee I'm still waiting on them to email me back after chatting with service rep, as I was adamant that they send out a new unit rather than a refurb

              Guess we are super unlucky…

Hopefully we either work out some way to fix our monitors or another ozB deal comes around :/

            • @mszoidberg: I rang them about mine with the same issue, they claim to be sending a replacement. Not sure if I want one at this point though, three people in this thread with the same issue and I googled it and looks like it's not an uncommon problem with this monitor…

              • @saitaris: I'll try and get in contact with them again. Not happy they won't send me a replacement

                • @mszoidberg: Just got an email from them as well saying that they will send a replacement, and that it will be new, not a refurb unit.

Hoping there is no issue with stock and get forced to just take a refund, as they have to take the faulty unit away first

All the best to the 3 of us. @saitaris

                  • @Teal: Are you able to PM me your order number? The bloke doesn't believe me that people are getting replacements

                    • @mszoidberg: Seems cant PM you, may need to check your settings to allow

                      • @Teal: Thanks, I've just updated settings. Appreciate your help :)

              • +1

@saitaris: Are you able to PM me your order number? The bloke doesn't believe me that people are getting replacements

                • @mszoidberg: Why on earth would he not believe you?? Sounds like a nightmare customer service experience you are having.

                  • @chriise: I've got two theories:

                    a) He's a new employee that doesn't know what he's doing and is just telling me no one else is getting a replacement so I get handballed to the refund team.

                    b) He's a very knowledgeable - 'in the know' employee and is giving me the bad news about no replacement stock before other people who were promised a new one get the "oh sorry, actually, there's none left".

I wouldn't be too fussed about getting a refund. But there process involves them picking up the monitor, taking it back to the warehouse and getting people to assess it and approve the refund. Which apparently could take 15-20 business days. Which makes me wonder what's stopping me from doing a charge back on paypal and not bothering with all that?

      • Tried a different cable and source?

        • Didnt have my work laptop on me to try a different source, but yes tried different cables, input and power, non worked

Was going to try with work laptop tonight, but the OSD menu doesnt pop up and monitor does not detect when there is no signal input, so I am not hopeful that switching source would help get it out of its "deep sleep" state or whatever.

Will still give work laptop a try though

    • Did you box seem banged up?

      • +1

Nope, looked slightly dirty at worst. Nothing to make me think its been damaged during transit.

    • Same issue here. FFS.

Tried two computers, a DP cable and a HDMI cable (that came in the box.)
OSD can't display, no video from computer although it does detect it.

    • Same, too bad I only powered it on after moving my old monitors and installing the new mount. That's my morning gone dealing with it……
Still waiting on dell's email regarding the exchange

      • +1

Reply came back, they wanted to exchange the G3223Q with a G3223D. They even had the gall to include the quote for the G3223D at ~$430 and highlighted a paragraph that said kindly ignore the price mentioned.
It's like I'm paying to be fisted.

    • Same here! Contacted Dell and the tech support says they'll need manager approval to send a new unit for replacement instead of refeb.

      • Can they refund ?

  • Missed the delivery - startrack decided to come at 8am was still sleeping. Despite what the auspost app says - it goes back to the Startrack Depot. Have to wait another 2 days for delivery. Nooooo

    • Missed the first delivery yesterday. It said it was going to depot aswell but I didn't receive any other information. Startrack guy showed up today and rang my phone to come get it downstairs. A pleasant surprise. Located in Melbourne.
