First time post, full time lurker.

Went to check dell's annual EOFY and came across this by accident.

Was hoping for Muzeeb to bless us with some cheap alienware monitors for EOFY but found this instead. Checked yesterday evening and it was sitting at $814. Possibly the cheapest its ever been with Uniday code?

Have been looking at getting a Gigabyte m32u but comparison wise this beats it by a small margin in picture quality and you lose the USB C upstream.

          • @justaname: Sure, but I'm thinking of it like this, three years from now, I'd probably be happy to pay $50 to know it's under warranty for another 12 months, and at the end of that 12 months, another $50 to have another 12 months warranty.

You can't get half a shopping bag worth of groceries for $50 right now, and it probably won't be any better in a few years. So what's <$1/week for the peace of mind in the future.

          • @justaname: I may sell this model and get the new model at heavier discount next year or 2

    • +1

Damn, I didn't see the option to do this until after. Historically for me Dell warranty's been great and they used to give you the latest models if things went wrong. I message chat and they've said it's possible to add after once I receive it.

I managed to get from a Dell U2709 to a U2711 and finally a U2713H in the end (still working perfectly), so I'd say it's worth it in the end.

  • chat with sales, they still can send you link to purchase, got one!

  • +2

Bought a week ago for $734 and saw this and contacted dell this morning who have refunded difference! I was happy at $734 but $500 is crazy good. Call if you purchased within the last 30 days for a refund.

    • Wow. That is nice. Congrats!

    • Can you advise how you contacted? I did online chat and they told me EOFY pricing is not a reason to refund.

  • is it okay to use a gaming monitor for non-gaming purposes lol i.e web browsing, work, spreadsheets etc

    • +12

Nah, the Police are already on the way to your location.

    • +3

you can run it at 60hz when not gaming to save some electricity 🔌

    • +3

FBI reported for excessive screen frame usage

  • Seems to be going in and out of stock, currently it's there for me and I'm able to reach checkout.

  • +2

    Stock is back just check

  • AWESOME

  • Wow. I've been waiting for this price range so long!! Thanks OP!!!!

  • Anyone got a spare code? thanks

  • -1

scored one with amex business platinum charge, got $125 dell credit

  • I have a dual monitor setup at home for work. Office based stuff, no gaming. I have been waiting for a special to buy 2x Dell S2721QS. Fo rmy use, would a pair of these monitors be overkill?

    • +1

Combine with your old setup for quad monitors

    • Just buy it.

      • considering tax deductions, you present a very logical arguement ;)

        • +2

I do have concerns over the size of dual 32" screens though!

    • I have a similar set-up but not sure if I would recommend if you’re using a work laptop

Because your laptop graphics might struggle on three 4K monitors

If you want a hub to support all at 4k 60Hz/144Hz you need a thunderbolt 4 compatible laptop port and one of these

    • +1

      Buy first, think later.

  • Cracker price.. Thought I did well getting dual S2721DGF setup at @$500 each 2 years ago.

    • Yeah this is outstanding price. S2721DGF owner in the same boat. I don't really need the upgrade, but I guess I'm getting one anyway.

  • Insane deal. Just ordered one.

  • +1

Is it too much to get this as a dual monitor setup??

or a bit overkill and get one of these and a regular cheapie 32" 4k like the phillips deal for $174

    • +4

Wondering the same, is it a overkill for WFH setting? Mmmmm

      • +3

        definitely overkill for just WFH
please tell me you are atleast going to be doing a decent amount of gaming

        • Thanks for reply

      • I get it just for the smooth feeling scrolling around code. So it’s totally not overkill.

      • oh no I have a desktop PC Dell G5 - I will be running this off a 2 year old RTX 2070 Super

        • +1

You might be fine running for productivity stuff, but running anything intense at 4k144Hz will be hard on your graphics card

With that graphics card I’d say you wont get 144Hz when gaming, but if you’re lagging can always drop it in Settings to 1440p resolution to increase frame rate

I just checked and you got displayport 1.4 and hdmi 2.0 on your 2070 Super. So you should be g to run at 4k@120Hz, but not 144Hz because no hdmi 2.1. No real noticeable difference tho in 24Hz

          • @JeremyDealFiend: wait till you get the monitor, give it a go, and you might have to upgrade your graphics card for gaming

          • @JeremyDealFiend: Thank you very much mate. Man my card is already weak. The progress of gpus is incredible

  • any recommendation for the monitor arm that can support this?

    • +1

I'm using a NB H100 with a 34" ultrawide and another on a 32", and they're pretty rock solid. The QC on them seems a bit iffy though (look at previous purchase threads on ozbargain) - but mine are both fine.

  • +1

    This or Phillip Monitor?

    • +3

I have reviewed your needs and checked with my IT neighbour guru and confirm the Philip Monitor is perfect for you.

  • What an awesome deal! Anyone got spare unincode please?

Also what type of usbc dongle can make use the full potential of the resolution and refresh rate?

  • Bloody forgot to use amex to pay…can I cancel and order again?

    • Why Amex?

      • +1

There's an offer for some amex cards which I have.

  • Would anyone be kind enough to pm me the discount code (unincode) please? Thanks in advance.

  • Would this go well as a second monitor to the Dell S2722QC?

  • +1

Already have 3 4k monitors (60Hz) and still could not resist. Such a miserable life of an Ozbargainer!

  • Just ask for price difference. Got 200 refund, win win

  • If anyone has a Uniday code, can you please pm me? Would be much appreciated!
    Found, thanks

    • Where to get one?

      • +1

        Someone kindly PM'd me one

  • Would greatly appreciate someone pm me a Uniday code. Cheers

  • +2

Why are people asking for a uniday code? There's a code in the deal for 5% off, the unidays is an extra 2$. It's just a few dollars, why split hairs and possibly miss out over $10? Just make the order.

    • +5

This is OzBargain. Deals with $3 or $2 savings have got hundreds of votes. Also the the OzBargain mentality. The satisfaction of getting the cheapest price as possible.

  • any code will do by the way. corporate discount, educational discount etc. - give you additional 2% discount. otherwise just grab AUAFFILIATES5% for 5% off and hopefully you have the AmEx cashback

I hope Dell has manufactured enough for the whole Australia

  • Has the Amex Dell offer expired now?

    • It was targeted. Not many people got it. Certainly wasn't in my Amex offers

    • +1

mine says valid till end of June

      • Thanks. I couldnt find it.
        Did get the offer :(

  • Didn't need, bought one anyway. Thanks. :p

  • Can someone send me a Unidays code?

  • What size vertical would go good with this. Saves me have 3 screens

    • u2520d would be good

  • anyone can provide a spare unidays code? thanks!

  • Is this good for office use? If no, any good deal for an office monitor?

  • aynone know how long dell take to ship?

  • im trying to cancel my order after reading a reddit review warning about "IPS glow' whatever that means, was going to use this mainly as an office monitor so I need a matte black screen most of the time.

    • +4

IPS glow is noticeable only if you're watching movies or playing games in a very dark environment. At this price point, all other competitors suffer from same issue. Unless you're willing to spend over $1000 on OLED monitor, you won't find better alternative.

      • Thanks. The LG C2 OLED panel that was going for 1k around march is starting to seem a lot more appealing the more I learn.

        • +1

If you have the space for movies and gaming it can make a great monitor, for computer productivity I’d take the Dell.

        • +4

Haven't seen many LG C2 deals lately. LG might have cleared most of the C2 stock after launch of C3.

Also, from what I have read LG C2 is not very good as office monitor. Something to do with its panel's pixel arrangement that affects display of text. Great for gaming and movies though.

          • +3

@dealhunter52: You are right, the sub-pixel structure of current OLED is not the traditional RGB so that means that text can appear to be fuzzy or have color fringing, also 4k at 42" has far lower PPI than 4k at 32".

Also I remember going to JB like 3 weeks ago and they said that the 42" C2 is over, now the C3 is in and it's $2500 LMAO, what a joke.

      • Hahahahahaha

      • IPS glow is noticeable only if you're watching movies or playing games in a very dark environment

Surely they'd notice it while coding (assuming they're sane and use dark mode), too.

Unless you're willing to spend over $1000 on OLED monitor, you won't find better alternative.

Could go fast VA which has much better black levels while minimising the smearing, which is a pain on normal VAs when scrolling text on dark backgrounds. Not sure what options there are though. The ones I've seen always seem to be curved which is really distracting outside of media (IMO, of course).

If that's the case, he wouldn't be looking at Gaming focused 144hz 4K IPS monitor. Even a VA panel monitor with these specs will surely cost more than this absolute steal for $490-$500.

          • @dealhunter52: Yeah dunno, I think there was one of those Samsung VAs for like $650 but I didn't look into it because it's curved

    • +1

Every IPS monitor has a chance (keyword: chance) of IPS glow. You need a VA-type monitor to attempt to counter-act it, however they are far worse for scrolling text (smearing) and any sort fast motion, not that big of a deal if office only.

I noticed you wrote about OLED in other comment, the C2 42" is no longer available and the C3 42" is currently like $2400-2600, a joke really.

    • I use it as an office monitor and I don’t really notice anything like that. Something I’ve found when it comes to monitors is that people nitpick these things, but they’re never actually noticeable. You could name any monitor at any price, and some mouth breather has probably trashed it for something nobody else even pays attention to

    • +2

I have this monitor and it is damn near perfect. I use it for office work and it's superb.

      • Damn it, my cancellation was successful

  • no USB-C. A bit of a shame. A pass for me.

    • what's the benefit of that?

      • powering the connected device like a modern laptop

        • +2

Can't you do that from the PC like 90 centimetres away?

          • @caitsith01: I think it is more for people who want to use a laptop during the day and then come home and plug in to the monitor with an already attached keyboard and mouse and also have mains power. That said the USB-C would still need to support power delivery

            • @ItchyItch: I get USB-C convenience with one cable to do it all, but I plug my laptop in every day after work, not much difference between 5 cables (power, HDMI, USB x 2, ethernet) and one cable, 10 extra seconds max.

  • +4

    I'm HODL-ing for a 42 inch c2/c3 deal this black fryday.

  • How will this perform downscaled to 1440p when gaming? I'm using a 27" native 1440p display currently, will this 32" look worse downscaled?

  • Fair warning, if anyone else is trying to get a price match if they’ve bought this at the higher previous price recently, Dell are being a massive pain about it if you’ve used your student discount. I’m going to keep pushing it, but I’ve been knocked back over the phone and via email support

  • +1

do i need to upgrade my s2721dgf? no. would i need to upgrade my entire computer? yes. am i considering it anyway? maybe..

    • Did your monitor arrive today? Mine is scheduled for tomorrow but haven’t received tracking information yet.

      • Mine hasn't shipped yet

  • I couldn't help myself and bought 2 for work/gaming.

Hopefully I can get some decent coin for my S2722QC to recoup some dollars. Amazing monitor but needed more real estate.

  • Ozbargained…. no way Dell will be able to fill this many orders

    • Yeah they will, it went out of stock earlier today and they added more, so they will fill all orders.
