First time post, full time lurker.

Went to check dell's annual EOFY and came across this by accident.

Was hoping for Muzeeb to bless us with some cheap alienware monitors for EOFY but found this instead. Checked yesterday evening and it was sitting at $814. Possibly the cheapest its ever been with Uniday code?

Have been looking at getting a Gigabyte m32u but comparison wise this beats it by a small margin in picture quality and you lose the USB C upstream.

      • Nope, Amex don't do direct link anymore.
Only got this on 1 of 3 different Amex card and on primary.

    • Where is this? I can't find it in the app or website. Got a Qantas Ultimate.

      • I have it on my QF Ultimate; it was available for a limited number of cards about a month ago.

        • ah i must not have taken it. Wasn't really planning a Dell purchase.

  • If I'm a cheap ass, should I spend 1/3 the price and get OZB's fav monitor (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778456), or just get a good one like this one? I basically just play games that don't require that good of a monitor (League of Legends, some free games from Epic like dying light etc.), and watch lots of NBA and movies using monitor. But judging from the comments this seems like a crazy good deal?!

    • +5

The 144Hz refresh rate is quite nice. I think it depends on whether that matters to you or not, since this one costs several times more than the one you linked

    • +1

LoL is super nice with 144hz imo, worth if you can stretch to it

    • +1

Only worth if you game on it and also want to play console with 120hz :)

    • +2

It's a crazy good deal, but you should also factor in your GPU — can it drive a 4K monitor at a a minimum of 60 fps? You can play at a lower resolution if necessary, but it won't look as nice.

  • +4

Impressive deal, I'm happy with my Dell S2721DGF i bought on a recent deal for $340 but if i was in the market for a 32" 4K this seems like great value for the spec alone, the fact it's a Dell monitor is the cherry on top essentially.

  • Might be wrong but at this price is this qd-oled at an ATL with the code? https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-34-curved-qd-oled-…

  • Anyone got a spare code?

    • Go K12 mate

      • -1

Saying go K12 means nothing, couldn't find anything in search, but AUAFFILIATES5% worked

  • IF anyone has one of those Dell coupons, you get after purchasing (e.g. $25 off) please DM me :)

    • Are these a thing? Havent got one before

      • +1

I got one the last few monitors I got from Dell

        • Could be that they discontinued this, or perhaps my recent purchases didn’t meet the consitions I suppose

    • From memory they stopped doing those

  • Shame I got the u3223qe, this is an awesome deal!

  • Damn, just bought a LG32u880 yesterday for $699.00

    :|

  • Spent 2300 for 3 of these at the last deal….

    Oh oh the misery…

  • Thanks, too many Dell monitors at home now

  • Great deal, I bought mine for $589 in Feb, but it was a Dell refurb (with full 3yr warranty and no issues). Buy it now, it's great.

  • +1

Anyone use this or a similar 32" 4K with a macbook for standard productivity use? Currently have a 27" but this looks like a great deal. Just concerned that it will be much on the screen

    • +2

I got mine for my M1 Mac Mini as I had problems with my curved S3221QS flickering. This one works brilliantly with the higher refresh which is noticably clearer in my day to day on productivity apps. I did also get a USB C to DP cable.

  • Isn't 12% cashback on G series?

    • +1

Yeah it does say that on Shopback (https://www.shopback.com.au/dell-australia) but I reckon they'd give you the lower 3% by arguing it's a monitor lol

      • also shopback says declined if used unapproved coupons, are these coupons approved?

        • That's right but anyone should give it a go in the unlikely event it'll actually work

      • 3% + 5% = 8% I win 😂

  • Weird. Reviews say this thing uses an IPS panel, but Dell's own tech specs have it listed as TFT. Can anyone confirm?

    • +2

      Dell description says IPS

"The Fast IPS panel enables a 1ms GTG response time and NVIDIA® G-SYNC® and AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro give a tear free, stutter free low latency HDR gaming experience."

    • +1

      https://dl.dell.com/content/manual74300550-dell-g3223q-monit…

Screen type = active matrix TFT LCD vs Panel type = Fast IPS. I don't know what that means 😀

    • TFT = "Thin-Film-Technology". This refers to the driver electronics and not the display technology. An IPS display describes a special display technology, even if it is a color TFT display. The IPS technology is a so-called "in-plane switching" technology.

  • +1

Great first deal OP. Bought, thanks.

  • Bought 2 with a student code for $981.08. Thanks!

Time to upgrade from my 1440p 27" 165hz

    • what do I do with my old one? theyre all good monitors

      • +9

That's a problem for future me

        • hahaha

  • Can anyone PM a uniday code? Thanks

    • +1

      Sent

      • Thanks a lot.

  • I almost bought this for $730ish earlier in the week, got it for $490.04 with K12 discount.

  • +2

    Was tossing up between these:

    Samsung Odyssey G70B (LS32BG702EEXXY)
    Gigabyte M32U / M32UC
    Dell G3223Q

    All around $850 …

    ….
now at this price I think the decision is made

  • How do you connect this to a mac? No usbc?

  • i pad $757 one weeks ago…lol

    • buy another & return the $757 monitor?

    • +1

Call dell, pretty sure they do 30-day price match: https://www.dell.com/en-au/lp/price-match-guarantee#30-Days-Price-guarantee-(After-Purchase)

    • Definitely ring them. I bought one 2 days ago and the lady did not hesitate to refund the difference.

  • -3

Will a DP to usbc cable charge as well?

  • +2

I really didn't need it.. but I bought it. Now to sell my S2721DGF…

  • +1

How does this compare with another OzB favourite .. the Dell S2721DGF? I'm typing on one right now. Clearly it's bigger and higher res. Interested in image quality opinions. I'm considering upgrading my dual 27" IPS setup to - this 32" (primary) + 27" IPS (S2721DGF) setup

    • On the same boat with dual S2721DGF. Considering 32" in the middle and 2x27" portrait. Not sure if that works well or really need 3 monitors…

      • +1

I had this set-up, kind of annoying if you dont have a large desk, also annoying if you have a desk in the corner of your room because it limits monitor movement when using a monitor arm.

I used 3 single monitor arms, avoid dual monitor arms they are a pain

        • What monitor arms do you have? Keen to try a similar setup

  • +1

This or this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778456 for non-gaming? Serious question…

    • This. Smoother mouse movement that pleases the brain is worth $300.

      • Might get two… so would mean $600 to get the pleasing.

    • For non gaming maybe the one you linked as it's far cheaper. But with this you get 144hz (it will make a difference even during productivity - everything is smoother) and the IPS panel will look better than the VA Panel. Is it worth an extra $316? Hard to say but if you have the budget get the Dell monitor - it will be better

    • Is the 'smoother' really that noticable for normal productivity?

      • +2

It's noticeable, doesn't add actual productivity though 😂

        • Thanks, I'd need a graphics card now to take two 4K monitors in 60Hz.
What is the cheapest card that can do two 4K at 60/144?

      • I have a 144Hz and while I can see the difference if I really look as I'm dragging a window or whatever, it's not something I actually notice in general use. I want this monitor as I'm after a 32" but I'm worried I'm wasting money on that 144Hz that I don't need, wondering if there's better options in 60Hz, I know that Philips is available much cheaper I wonder what the diff is other than VA and 60Hz.

    • I've got a similar dilemma, main reason I am considering this is it's an IPS and I believe that means better colour rendition and I will use for photo editing. Not sure worth the $300 though, I don't need 144Hz.

  • $450 with Amex cashback

    • Didn't have that offer on my Amex :(

  • anyone can send me a Uniday code, thanks so much

  • How does this compare to the Dell 32 Gaming Monitor - G3223D?

  • +3

These Dell monitor deals are always super popular… Ozbargainers must have a room full of Dell monitors.

  • +1

got a spare unidays code if anyone wanna use it
    D7ZQHV4SW9$4KQ

  • order confirmed and due Monday

  • Crumbled to the pressure and bought one.
Maybe not the best financial move, but I've wanted this to replace my S2721Q with this for a while.
Now it's time to upgrade the PC to run 2 4k monitors lol

  • Got one!

  • @Muzeeb bro come on im running a shitty 60hz for my gaming ;(

    • +2

My free allocation has dried up. Sorry dude.

  • Does anyone have a spare unidays code willing to share? Thanks!

  • -1

    My order has been confirmed!

  • +2

Just me playing devils advocate here.

4k is very hard to run natively so unless you have a 6900XT or 3090 or better there is almost no point going from a 27inch 1440p 144hz/165hz to this, you actually won't notice much difference in picture sharpness or clarity between 27inch 1440p and 32inch 4k, but it will be a whole lot harder to run. 4K comes into its own with the larger panels 42inch +

    • +2

That's my worry. Upscaling tech has come a long way but the performance degradation is still a factor in games.
On the other hand, I could get crispy emulated scanlines!

    • +1

Indeed, it is hard to run natively. But a little bit of DLSS or FSR upscaling doesn't look too bad and would still say it looks much clearer than 2k resolution. I use to run a 6700XT at 4k

      • What games did you play with the 6700XT @4K? I've got a 6600XT and have bought this (needed the upgrade on the monitor anyways and this was a steal).

        • +1

Usually CSGO, Doom Eternal, Alien Isolation, Jedi Survivor and Dead space remake. New generation games need performance FSR to reach 60fps which is not ideal but it still looks ok.

          • @RetroMetro: Thanks mate was thinking about just downscaling to 1440p if really needed but FSR should help like you said to be usable. Might be due for a new rig to get the full use out of it.

            • +1

@IslandBreeze: I upgraded to a RTX 4070 to make full use of 4k. Frame generation combined with DLSS upscaling look and perform much better than FSR.

          • @RetroMetro: Cs go can run 4k with a 1050ti i5 .

  • Anyone with a spare unidays code that they can pm? Much appreciated! 🙏🙏🙏

  • How is colour rendition on this? For amateur photography…
