these cards have to be used in store correct and not online? can they be redeemed for the actual store gift cards or nah?

    • +3

Surely if they work for a place like menulog they can be used online?

    • +5

these cards have to be used in store correct and not online?

      Not necessarily.

You need to check the Ultimate Everyone gift card webpage on the Ultimate gift card website (linked in the table in OP) in order to see how a particular participating retailer accepts it. A participating retailer may accept it instore, online or let you exchange it for a digital gift card from a participating retailer. For example:

      • HOYTS is an exchange-only partner, so you cannot use Ultimate gift cards instore or online at HOYTS.

      • JB Hi-Fi lets you use Ultimate gift cards instore and online, but you cannot exchange it for a JB Hi-Fi gift card on the Ultimate gift card website.

      • EB Games lets you use Ultimate gift cards instore and also exchange it for an EB Games gift card on the Ultimate gift card website, but you cannot use an Ultimate gift card on the EB Games website.

can they be redeemed for the actual store gift cards or nah?

That is rather complicated, because there are so many participating retailers on the Ultimate Everyone gift card and they have different policies on this.

      • Some participating retailers (e.g. HOYTS, EB Games) let you exchange an Ultimate gift card for their own digital gift card on the Ultimate gift card website.

      • Some participating retailers (e.g. JB Hi-Fi) may let you purchase their own digital gift card through their own website using Ultimate gift cards.

      • Some participating retailers (e.g. JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys) may let you purchase their own gift card instore using Ultimate gift cards, although staff may stop you from doing this.

      • Some participating retailers (e.g. Officeworks) officially do not let you use Ultimate gift cards to purchase any gift cards.

      • Some participating retailers (e.g. Kogan) will block you from using an Ultimate gift card to purchase or exchange for their own gift card.

      • +1

You can purchase jb digital using the ultimate card via jb website. Did it the other day. My phone is too old to load the voucher via shopback (complains that chrome is too old) so I had no choice.

Be aware I had to wait 20-30 mins to receive the digital jb gift card.

        • +1

You may sometimes have Riskified - the third-party tool JB Hi-Fi uses to assess the likelihood of a transaction being fraudulent - cancel JB Hi-Fi gift card orders paid for with Ultimate gift cards, so purchasing a JB Hi-Fi gift card through this method is not always guaranteed to work.

      • Can you use the giftcard online at officeworks to buy stationery?

        • Maybe.

Officeworks is listed on the Ultimate gift card website as accepting Ultimate gift cards as a payment method on the Officeworks website, but a number of people told me earlier this year that the Officeworks website refused to process payments from Ultimate gift cards, even when buying stationery or tech items, etc. I am not sure whether these redemption issues have been ironed out…

Hey @BargainsGrabber, I see this offer also showing for $100 cards (max 2 to purchase)

  • Great deal.

  • Has anyone been able to retrieve their card details after adding it to apple wallet? I added one I bought in the past to apple wallet and now I cannot use it online as I cannot retrieve the full card details.

    • +3

you should still be able to see the full card details in https://www.myprepaidcentre.com.au/

      • If you set up the password for the registered email, probably yes. I didn't go through this way, I skipped it normally.

      • +1

Thankyou, this worked on desktop. App would only show last 4 digits.

Great time to be used for the Timezone up coming double dollar day from this Sat
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778901

    • Does anyone know if they accept a part payment using a gift card at timezone? For example, buying $100 credit with $50 gift card and $50 credit card?

      • This is not a gift card from merchant perspective , it’s an actual debit card (which you can add to mobile wallet)

I have tried before using the 2 x ultimate kids in-store with Apple Pay to load credit during double dollar day

        • So when you buy $100 credit, they accept part payment using $50 ultimate gift card and $50 credit card? Do they accept split payment?

      • +1

I have been able to part pay with ultimate gift card and the rest with credit card.

  • Does anyone know why I couldn't link the Coles Prepaid Mastercard to my account?

    • +3

Have you linked and unlinked many cards the last few days? It’s prolly the cool-down period

      • Yes, I purchased 3x $100 and 3x $50 Amazon gift cards 5 days ago. How long is the cool-down period?

        • Two worked just now. May be 7 days?

          • @Neoika: Thanks, I will try it after 2 days.

        • +1

If you need Amazon GC, buy the Swap card (it's actually the Prezzee GC) next time - they can be swapped into Amazon cards and you don't have the limitation of cards per month

    • Add those prepaid master card into shopback wallet and use that for payment. I did this way and it worked.

  • +1

Dang, my Celebration Swap cards still untouched, and now this??
RBA says we need to stop spending for them to stop increasing interest rate :(

    • Or they increasing interest rates to stop us from spending

      • Looks like it doesn't work on OzB community

  • +2

Thanks OP. Saved a trip to the local Coles

  • Grabbed 2x $100 and 2x $50. Should be handy for any quick JB/TGG deals that will hopefully pop up.

I've never bought any gift card other than Superswap cards from Shopback so I'm guessing "third-party" cards sit at the Pending stage for a little bit longer before they're usable? Also probably a delay with everyone buying them as the deal has been posted recently.

  • +1

Do these particular gift cards take forever to come through? Usually all my purchases are instant but it’s been almost 45mins and it’s still pending?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got 2 $100 cards. For some reason it did not accept one of the Coles Mastercard, the card was not used. However it worked when I used another card.

  • +1

    thank. bought 2x100

  • After purchasing these cards, it’s still showing pending. How long will this take?

  • So almost 3hrs and still pending. Has anyone’s purchases come through yet?

    • Not yet, waiting 2 hours. Think we all broke it.

  • Anyone know if Menulog gift cards work with Menulog in-app codes like the weekly $10 off?

  • +3

Been over 4 hours and still waiting for them to arrive.
Card charged and the status of order is pending
    Shopback is always a pain

  • Yes, can't believe it took that long to get a electronic gift card at this modern age. Not a great experience for sure.

  • Is there any difference between getting this (digital only) versus picking up a physical card from Coles (tomorrow)?
If getting it through Shopback, I assume the 2 methods of payment are: (1) barcode-scanning OR (2) contactless tapping (if added to phone wallet)?

    • +1

Flybuys points can be earned via Coles.

The advantage here is Coles digital Gift MasterCard can be used.

      • Thanks. Flybuys points on $50 x 2 cards would be around 50 cents (because, typically, the cash equivalent of points is 0.5%)?
I guess the other difference is that Coles only offers $50 Ultimate Everyone cards, whereas Shopback has $100 cards too.

    • +5

      Some additional thoughts:

      • The only Ultimate eGift Cards on sale through this deal are Ultimate Everyone eGift Cards, whereas you can purchase any Ultimate gift card (excluding variable denominations) through the Coles deal. Not all retailers in the Ultimate gift card scheme are on the Ultimate Everyone gift card (e.g. Kathmandu), so the Ultimate Everyone gift card may not be for everyone!

      • You are at the mercy of whatever is available at the Coles store you go to, whereas you will know whether Ultimate Everyone eGift Cards with bonus cashback are sold out when you check the Shopback website.

      • When you purchase an Ultimate gift card at Coles, you have the physical gift card with you and can redeem it as soon as it is activated. When you purchase an Ultimate eGift Card, you need to wait for the gift card issuer to send you a link to the eGift Card so you can access and register it.

      • Ultimate eGift Cards can only be redeemed instore if you can add it to a mobile wallet. The Ultimate gift cards from Coles can either be added to a mobile wallet or can be swiped through the EFTPOS terminal for instore payments.

      • The Ultimate gift cards from Coles use a generic expiry date for purchases, whereas Ultimate eGift Cards have a specific expiry date (which can be seen on MyPrepaidCentre).

      • You do not have to register an Ultimate gift card from Coles before you can redeem it. You must register an Ultimate eGift Card (including handing over some personal information) before you can redeem it.

      • You can use cash, a debit card, credit card or prepaid card (including prepaid gift cards) to pay for the Ultimate gift cards at Coles. On Shopback, you can only use a payment method accepted on there (which means if - for example - your Coles Mastercard gift card is not accepted on Shopback, tough luck).

Most retailers on Eats are not on Everyone.

    • How to get barcodes on this digital giftcard??? And one more thing, i bought 2 $50 card and 2 $100 but i cant add in my Apple wallet one $100 may be i used different email address for one card.

      • +1

        No barcode such thing.

        • So wat r the options to pay jb/OW/tgg with this digital giftcards???

          • @R n b: If you want to redeem an Ultimate eGift Card instore at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks or The Good Guys, you must add it to a supported mobile wallet first (Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet) and then pay using that mobile wallet by tapping your device against the EFTPOS terminal, ensuring you tell the staff member you want to pay using a card (or a Visa card).

Alternatively, you can redeem an Ultimate eGift Card on the online store for JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks or The Good Guys… at least that is what the Ultimate gift card website says. Have a look at this comment to see my comment about issues redeeming Ultimate gift cards on the Officeworks website.

            • @WookieMonster: I just tried to buy jb hifi e-gift and i got declined email from jb.

              • @R n b: Oh yeah, that can happen too.

Have you tried adding the Ultimate gift card to Apple Pay, accessing the JB Hi-Fi website from an Apple device and then using Apple Pay to pay for the JB Hi-Fi gift card, ensuring you choose the Ultimate gift card as the payment source?

                • @WookieMonster: I tried using apple pay….2 transactions successful but third one declined

                  • @R n b: Yep, that's expected.

Riskified will always decline a third transaction on the same day, because using three different Visa cards on the same account and/or device in a short period of time looks too much like fraudulent activity (e.g. someone using different stolen Visa cards quickly in order to redeem funds on them before the legitimate cardholder notices what is going on).

My suggestion is to try again the next day.

                    • +1

@WookieMonster: Thank you@WookieMonster. One more question; can we use these card in paypal to buy jb giftcards as jb has paypal options too.

                      • @R n b: No. If you try to link an Ultimate gift card to PayPal, it will be declined, because the Ultimate gift card scheme does not support PayPal transactions, even if you want to use PayPal at a participating merchant accepting Ultimate gift cards on their website.

  • @gotyourback Are you able to chime in with any updates. Did we Ozbargain the app/processing system?

    • +2

Hey all, We've reached out to the Ultimate team to see what the hold up is on some of these cards, as they're typically generated instantly. Hoping to hear back from them ASAP, will update as soon as I know more.

      • 3 out of 4 of my cards just came through now. The last one was ordered at the same time so that's a bit strange.

      • Received 2 cards now on my account

  • If anyone can confirm if cashback tracks when using gift card at Foot locker?

    • +1

Yes when using VISA card. Ultimates are restricted VISA cards.

  • Can you swap the GC to different stores at smaller denominations? Or can we only swap the whole value to one store?

    • I thought this works like EFT card rather than swap card.
      Can anyone confirm?

      • Swap Choice is limited. Its website has the list.

        • So it can be added to Google Pay and used like EFT card as well?

      • It works both ways.

If you go to the Ultimate Everyone gift card webpage on the Ultimate gift card website (the link is in the table in the description), it will show you:

        • The participating retailers that will accept it in their physical stores as a Visa card

        • The participating retailers that will accept it on their online stores as a Visa card

        • The participating retailers that have their digital gift cards on the Ultimate gift card exchange portal. In other words, you can go to an exchange portal and exchange the partial or full balance of your Ultimate gift card for a digital gift card from some participating retailers (e.g. EB Games, HOYTS).

  • Officeworks sells boxes of 100 of postage stamps. Can I use it for postage stamps?

    • Great idea.

  • I bought 1x $50 tonight.

The app now says "deal limited to 1 purchase only", not sure if it said that before I purchased.

Can I still buy another $50 card and get $5 cashback?

Edit: answered my own question. Bought a second $50 one and now app says "you have reached maximum quantity". Pity the $100 are sold out

  • +1

Yeah I notice that. it knows you have purchased 1. So you only can get 1 more

    • Yeah figured it out and edited my comment above.

  • used 4 $100 for jb gift card online, but now all the remaining ultimate gift card i entered just give me this

    Card was declined

    • Your cart total on JB can’t exceed the remaining balance on your Ultimate card as they’re not “gift cards”
      Hope this makes sense :)

      • i use $100 on $100 JB gift card, $50 for $50, regardless which ultimate gift card i use to buy jb gift card online, all i see is Card was declined
i have try different jb account on different network, even with VPN….

i bought 6 $100 and 6 $50 with 3 different shopback account, only managed to spent 4 $100 gift card…since the 5th card i tried, all got decline

the card still have full amount, i checked on myprepaidcentre

not sure it's jb related or ultimate gift card related

also im unable to add any of my gift card to apple pay

        • +2

The JB thing is probably because you've tripped their fraud detection system. You can generally only buy 2 JB gift cards on their website before you're locked out for a period of time. Give it 24 hours or so as a cooling off period and it should start working again.

  • first time using this GCs. I'm trying to buy online at footlocker amount is $120. How do i used 2 (1x 100, 1x50) gift cards in on transaction? TIA

edit: seems the amount of the item is either equal or lesser that the GC value.

  • This has just been the WORST experience.

Over the last two deals I accumulated 3×100 + 2×50.

The myprepaidcentre app doesn't work. It closes immediately on tabbing out (tried on two phones). Because this doesn't work you can't add to Google pay.

I was forced to register the cards and set up an account to use their online system to exchange for a gift card. Once registered the shopback app can no longer access the card.

I know I have 1×100 card not used. But Shopback can't access the card. There's no registration email for this one. But i have no transaction identifier to chase Blackhawk with.

    • +1

      Sounds like hell

Debating whether I should get those gift cards, or not…

      • Don't. Physical ones are fine. Blackhawks online system is dysfunctional. Shopback needs to drop them.. force them to actually fix their system

  • Given all the issues outlined above, should I purchase those gift cards via SB or Coles?

    • It is up to you to make that call. Here are some prompts though…

      • The Shopback deal is good if you only want one or two Ultimate Everyone gift cards. The Coles deal is good if you want to buy more than two Ultimate gift cards.

      • The only denominations of Ultimate Everyone gift cards sold at Coles are the $50-$500 variable load denomination (which is excluded from the 10% off deal) and the $50 fixed denomination.

      • I have found that $50 Ultimate Everyone gift cards have been hard to come by for the current Coles deal, but $50 and $100 Ultimate Home gift cards have been extremely easy to find for me (as examples).

      • You cannot redeem any cards at Coles that lack support for card-present transactions (e.g. digital Coles Mastercard gift cards) nor any Shopback cashback balances you may have.

      • With the Shopback deal, all you need to do to see whether there is still stock for this deal is check Shopback. With the Coles deal, you will really have no clue as to which Ultimate gift cards are actually in stock at a given Coles store until you actually set foot in it. That means you may need to travel between a few stores before you get your hands on the Ultimate gift cards you want… and I am assuming you are living in Sydney, where travelling between a few stores may make sense. If you were instead living in a regional area where there is only one Coles for many kilometres, tough luck!

      • Do you have a preference for the e-gift cards or physical gift cards? With the e-gift cards, you must add it to a mobile wallet in order to redeem it in-person and you must register it on the MyPrepaidCentre website. With the physical gift cards, you can add it to a mobile wallet if you want to redeem it in-person and you can register it if you want (but frankly I see no point registering it).

      • Neither physical gift cards nor e-gift cards are immune to problems relating to initial purchases and redemptions, but I would say that the e-gift cards are usually a little more problematic.

  • I thinks it’s finished. the deal no longer on shopback
