Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Updates:

  • 27/06/23 2pm – Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
    • Original deal post rates: Basic TL₺63.99 (~A$4.06), Standard TL₺97.99 (~A$6.22), Premium TL₺130.99 (~A$8.31)
  • 07/07/23 2am – Updated FAQ section to include all error codes as a result of the 30-day local restriction lockout.
  • 08/07/23 11pm – Updated Instructions section to include a new sign up method via OlduBil's Turkish Virtual Mastercard (Instructions – Method #2), with screenshots (tested and confirmed). I'll be drafting another set of instructions to separate Method #1 (Part 2) as another sign up method via a Turkey phone number. Stay tuned!

You probably know by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's going to be good and better than the previous one. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • problems related to new subscriber sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • new statistics in regards to pricing
  • screenshots at each necessary step of the sign up process (yes, I unnecessaily spent a chunk of money to test the local region lockout and to obtain screenshots to better guide everyone through the sign up process! I hope this helps - please see Instructions Part 3 for these screenshots)

Note that due to a recent and continuing crash in the Turkish Lira currency, the TRY-AUD is hitting an all time low. All prices in this guide are current as of 27 June 2023.

Netflix Post History Notes
09/06/2023 - This post Netflix Region Lock
28/01/2023 Price Hike
22/10/2022 Price Hike
14/06/2022 Price Hike
01/10/2021

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to Netflix imposing a lock region lock. Luckily, there are no more price hikes for now, after having the third price hike for Turkey within a 10 month period.

  • Turkey is no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 in a span of just over a year).
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible, so avoid this path.
  • NEW!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan - that's a 42.9% and 26.3% increase, respectively). The Argentina Peso has dropped, but plans are still more expensive.

Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2

There are plenty of previous threads on users commenting their experience. Please read it if you are stuck. See here and here and here and here and here

Instructions – Method #1 (If you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month)

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Direct Method - No Gift Cards - MOST LIKELY TO FAIL - AVOID)

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method

Possibly working cards from: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie

Possible Problem: If it asks for a Turkish mobile number, you will have to find a working one so they can send you verification. AFAIK, there is no way bypassing this and you will need to sign up via Part 3

Part 3 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Using Gift Cards if Part 2 Fails) - EASIEST METHOD

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

  • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

  • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

  1. You’re done! Turn off your VPN and enjoy your subscription :)

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want Netflix to charge your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard each month)

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs, where possible.

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: It seems like every new sign-up to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This can take anywhere from as little as several days to 30 days. There are many reports from OzBargainers and others reporting this error disappears within 30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise the error will pop up). Since this is only temporary, it shouldn't be a problem after 30 days or so, andthis small hassle is well worth the savings.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN for this

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely! See Part A

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

            • @CodeXD: Different browser too. lol - the giftcard is on special now and the fees seemed lower. 209.38 today 211.50 last time

              • @DavidFW1960: Ok paid till 1st May now. Redeemed without a VPN yoo so it doesnt seem to care about a VPN when you redeem a card

  • I've been charged weirdly. Does anyone have issues also?

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/208367/105894/screensh…

    • +2

That's not weird. It uses up 1 giftcard at a time before starting the next one so for a 200TL card you will have a 130.99 charge for a full month followed by a 69.01 charge to use up that giftcard for a partial month etc.

  • Thanks for the guide, highly appreciate the effort that went into it.

Similar to many, I had payment issue with the credit card a couple of months after successfully opening the Turkey account via the Turkey gift card method and my own Westpac CC as backup.

Can confirm I went on the chat and asked for the Secured Form (their wording) to input my CC details. It worked and I saw the payment being taken immediately from Westpac app. My first attempt actually didn’t work, it asked for a Turkey mobile number for SMS verification. This was when I used the dynamic CVC from my digital CC on Westpac app. When it worked on 2nd attempt, I used the physical CVC on the actual CC. Not sure if this was the difference.

Fingers crossed all good now. Thanks again OP.

    • Were you on Turkey VPN when you went on chat and asked for the secured form?

I tried the same thing, not on VPN and rep said that it failed because I was on VPN (I asked to updated Turkey account card payment details from Australia) and they suggested I turn off VPN and try again, i.e. Update Turkey netflix account card payment details from Turkey.

I didn't try it as I couldn't access VPN at the time so I just bought gift card.

Would be interested to know for next month when it fails on card payment again.

      • Nope I did not use VPN when I was on the chat (I’m in Australia). Hope that helps.

  • First time using this VPN stuff and I think everything has worked. Bought 200 TL giftcard on Turgame (interestingly payment hasn't been deducted from credit card yet) and was able to use it on Netflix. Can log in and watch no problems. Got email saying I am on 130TL plan I presume it will then revert to taking payment from old credit card once giftcard is depleted?

    Thanks OP!

    • Ok spoke too soon. Looks like I am locked out for not being in right region. Time to play the waiting game. Fingers crossed.

  • +4

First of all, thanks @I Smell Pennies for this awesome guide! Well thought and explained.

I created an account in OZB firstly to thank you and then to share my experience.

So, I signed up on 01/07 following the gift card method, was in geo lock for the expected 29 days and everything was working fine after that.
Until today that is, when I got an email from NF about an issue with the payment. The standard some others here also got.

"Heads up: there was a problem processing your payment. No need to worry – things happen. It’s easy to fix, and you’ll be watching Netflix again in no time."

After reading the updates on here, I was prepared to go down the route of adding more gift cards. Then thought, what the heck, I'd give it a go and contacted Netflix support via chat. They said that the payment had been declined by the bank (I had a Coles MC as the backup payment method).

Without me even having to ask, the support person sent the in-chat form for me to update my payment method. This time added an AMEX. The payment was processed pretty much instantly, I got an alert from the AMEX app that 130.99 TRY had been charged by Netflix and the block was lifted on Netflix.

Fingers crossed that it keeps working and doesn't get declined again in the future.

    • Thank you for your support and comment @GehanR

  • So finally my Aussie sub expired.
Got my number in but doesn’t get verification code sent.
It was in there before but mustn’t been verified. Hopefully they having issues sending verification codes, and not have to be on active sub.

  • So got the dreaded email that my payment was unsuccessful from my aussie debit card so I switched to my Turkey virtual CC (Oldubil) which I managed to add using PingMe for the verification text. Next issue, I can no longer top up my Oldubil card using Wise transfer with a Turkish national ID number. Any way around this?

Using the Oldubil virtual card for both Spotify premium and Netflix

    • @Someguyhere In similar boat. Using revolut. Luckily I still have 1100TRY left on card. So your ver text came through? Mine hasn’t. Might look into PingMe and get Turkish number.

      • I luckily have about the same on my card.

PingMe worked once I connected to a Turkish VPN whilst using the app.

        • Champ, worked using pingMe. Got it working with my oldubil. See for how long and if i need vpn.

          • @Mikael: Yeah VPN needed. Hopefully just for a month and then all ok. Using my oldubil account.

            • @Mikael: Since I'm not sure how to top up the oldubil account (was using Wise before but no longer possible), I just bought a bunch of netflix giftcards from Turgame, topped up my account no problem :)

        • I added my Oldubil card this week using Pingme - I didn't need to use VPN for pingme

          • @howdydood: Not for ping me but when opening Netflix have to use vpn. Geo locked for a month I believe.

Yeah cannot top up Oldubil anymore. Lucky I got there just before they closed it. Also using Apple with turgame for Disney. Topped up 1000try. Also Oldubil hooked up as backup. TRYing not to use Oldubil too much. Good to have.

            • @Mikael: I don't understand the aversion to using giftcards.

              • @DavidFW1960: @DavidFW1960 just easier to have one card and knowing how much come out monthly. Just my preference. Don’t mind gift cards. But when having a cc in the country is usually easier and more “verified”.

                • @Mikael: Except a virtual CC is no longer "easier". The workaround got plugged, so now, gift cards are easier.

    • Can you use Pingme on a computer? Also, do you need to have the VPN on when using pingme phone number when updating card details?

I got to the verification phone number stage with one of my cards, but couldn't continue due to not having a Turkish phone number.

  • Appreciate if anyone can assist - so I have 2x 200 TRY gc and would like to redeem onto my Netflix … do I need to VPN to Turkey to redeem?

    • +3

If you are currently already getting charged in TRY, then no.

  • +1

For those interested, I also got the declined email after the initial Giftcard had worn off. I'm with Suncorp.

I've just now applied 5x 200 TL giftcards (2 from G2A and 3 from TurGame). All applied perfectly fine with no VPN - so redeemed via Aussie Netflix. You just need to make sure in your Netflix account, under billing info, it lists the currency as TL. I'm now paid up until April 2024. Happy days.

    • +1

Got same issue, came here, saw this, did this, worked.
      Thanks

    • Damn this just happened to me as well. Also a Suncorp CC.

    • Have you tried suncorp debit? That's what ISP use

  • I created a new Netflix account today, signed up to Aussie subscription in order to verify the phone number and save my Aussie Credit Card on the account. Cancelled the subscription straight away and got the refund. Then proceeded with Part 2 to sign up to Turkish subscription and had to change the phone number to Turkish Phone number (purchased credits to 'use and throw' phone number using PingMe Second Phone App).

Now I am in the 'location lock' period, hopefully it would end soon. In the meantime, I will keep using VPN but it can be painful especially when the VPN is little slower plus the missus doesn't want to go through an extra step of turning on the VPN..haha…

Any trick to come out of the 'lock out' period quicker? ;)

    • +1

@batrarobin in the same boat, following this :)
Just did it 2 days ago.
Hopefully not mucking up if accidentally vpn not on tv (nvidia shield) when opening Netflix.

  • How often can you redeem gift cards? I know you have a Max limit of 5 but does this expire after a month, or do you just need to add one more every month to keep it going?

  • Got payment declined email as well.

Didn’t want to use by OlduBil so tried to just re-add my Amex. Was asked to confirm a Turkish phone number - used pingme and varied the number and my amex was charged for the month. Wondering if I’ll run into the same issue next month.

  • Love your shit mate, real benefit to the community. not sure if this has been asked.

My question is, we're doing all this through odubil, vpn setup and all. we do this on a computer.

What will happen if we're at home and mainly watch on the tv? does this still work? wono't netflix track the home vpn as sydney, not instabul etc?

    • Until the 28 day region lock is over you have to watch through a VPN connected to Turkey. After the 28 days everything will work

      • It's not specifically 28 days. It's around 28-31 days. Some have even been 32. I myself had my lock removed on day 30.

      • huh? is this 28 days after the subsscription expires in australia? or 28 days after i do all the set up for this turkey stuff.

        • 28 days after turkey setup

          • @DavidFW1960: so… basically get aussie netflix, wait for it to expire, setup turkey netflix. wait 28 days for the region lock, then freely watch it on aussie tv….??

  • I'm more than 35 days in and I'm still region locked. Any advice? When I watch without VPN I get the error "cannot watch from this location". If I try to change my household I get the error "cannot change household from this country". (I'm watching on NVIDIA Shield TV Pro)

    • Update: Region unlocked yesterday 👍

  • Ahhgg !!😀 I have an OlduBil account and followed the instructions for method 2 but still get a ‘let’s confirm your account message and am prompted to enter a Turkish mobile number’ and the only option to progress is to ‘Text me’ ….have they closed the loophole? Is there a way around it please?? Great work btw!

    • @Dsc I used PingMe (virtual disposable number). Cost bit more then $1. (Coins). Worked.

      • Thanks Mikael, just tried that - unfortunately the code didn’t work. I’ll try again tomorrow.

  • How are you guys buying with Turgame?, I've gone to register an account and enter my required mobile number which is sent an OPT to verify. I get the code sent to my phone but Turgame keeps saying the code is invalid. I've tried multiple times and it keeps blocking me for 10min between attempts to resend mobile OTP.

    • Try it in incognito mode

      • alll good now, I just tried again for the 10th time and it worked, just in normal browser mode.

  • Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your help.
So I created a netflix account by following these steps, I'll write them down so if you can correct me where I'm wrong (or it can help someone).
    1. Login to netflix, with vpn off.
    2. I register with email and password
    3. When I get to step 3 I activate the vpn (I use nordvpn and log in in turkey)
    4. I make the payment in Turkish Lira (or with Oldubill or with gift cards)
    5. I complete the registration.
    6. I turn off the VPN and start something to watch and I get the message "I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location".

I waited almost 30 days the account was deactivated and I had to reactivate it as I wrote the steps on and the error is still there. Why? Where am I wrong?

    • The geolock is 28-31 days after you successfully pay in Turkish Lira, so if you just paid today you have to wait about a month to watch

      • Okay thanks a lot for your reply. Are the written passages good?

        • What's the actual issue here? I'm confused. Still locked after a month?

          • @I Smell Pennies: After almost a month it still stuck. one question I have an account created some time ago and it had the same localization problem if I try to reactivate it does it work in Italy too or will it still be blocked?

my gift card balance has finished so Netfflix tried to charge my CC today however failed so it needs to verify my phone number which on the screen it shows Turkish code …
now im stuck.. any ideas guys ?

    • +1

The easiest and most efficient solution right now appears to be using gift cards moving forward.

      • thanks, did this now and my GC balance is up to December.
However it's region locked again lmao

  • Just wanted to confirm with someone before I proceeded…

Can this deal still be achieved with an OlduBil Mastercard and a Turkish phone number with the PingMe app?

Or are Netflix cracking down on credit cards and gift cards are the only way?

If it does work, what is the best way to transfer money to the OlduBil Mastercard now that Wise no longer works?

    Cheers

@Madic74 signed up using Oldubil few days ago, using PingMe. Currently GeoLocked. Oldubil card was charged TRY 130.99. This was the 19th and haven’t been cancelled or reversed. Just waiting for new bill cycle and geolock removed.

      • Thanks for your response! I am hoping to hear from someone that signed up a month ago, is no longer geo-locked with payment that has gone through seamlessly.

28 days geolock. Lifted on day 29. Cheers OP! Just gonna keep topping up with gift cards every few months I think.

Anyone has issues with their TL direct debit payment with Aus card? i received an error requesting me to "Update your payment information information to continue" even though my card was used successfully for the past few months and it is not even close to expiry. When I tried to update and use a different card, it requires SMS verification with Turkish local phone number so I am stuck as there are no options to change area code. Does anyone have similar experience?

    • Same thing happened to a lot of us. Easiest route is to keep topping it up with Turkey gift cards.

  • Today was my payment date after a month. I had my Oldubil card set as I still had 135TRY left on it. Got an email this morning that payment failed, so thought I would try again by removing the card from my account and contacting support. Upon getting the payment form sent to me (after verifying with my Australian mobile number that was linked) I added the card again and alas, payment successful!

Going to use gift cards from now on as that's an easier option, I just wanted to use that remaining amount from my Oludbil card. But I am wondering if each month I could contact Live Chat to manually have the payment taken out from their end?

  • Faced the same problem. Got an email for an unsuccessful payment. Tried a couple of times to process the payment but didn't go through.
Tried to update the card but was asking for a Turkey Mobile number.
Just bought a gift card from Turgame. still waiting for the gift card to be delivered.
Worked successfully after adding the gift card.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for the gift card from Turgame to process payements and issue out the gift cards?

    • Took roughly 30-40 mins for me.

    • +1

Remember there is a time difference to factor in (GMT+3). IIRC, most people tend to receive their GC's in the late arvo/evening (AEST).

    • It's been about an hour guess I'll hold tight till I see the processing payement change over to something else

    • I just ordered one before. It took around 10 minutes to receive the code in my email.

    • Messaged the Turgame and they surprinsgly replied quickly and we're able to resolve the issue and reissue one on the spot - so back in business

      • Did they say what the issue was? My last 5 orders have all failed and marked as cancelled.

        • You need to do a verfication stage via a SMS code from your bank for me that was Revolut

          • @Proxilon: Ah okay. I have no issues with the verification SMS code from 28 Degrees.

My problem is after I submit it, I see it is successful, but it will take me back to the cart page. The new order appears in my 'order' with 'Pending Payment' and after a while it auto cancels.

I have submitted a ticket so will see what they come back with.

@CodeXD: Have faced the same problem with IYZI payment provider. I tried with PAYTR and it worked without any issues.

              • +1

@thrift seeker: TY! Re-ordered with PAYTR and it went through successfully!

            • @CodeXD: this is exactly the issue I have with my CBA mastercard lately. They will tell you to use a different card and browser and it still won't work although I haven't had any failure with AMEX.

              • @DavidFW1960: Have you tried with PAYTR? I think the issue is with IYZI rather than turgame.

      • You won't get any codes from Turgame until after 4-5PM - g2a is always instant. They always come but they manually process the orders after 4 here which is 10am there. They don't work 24/7

        • turgame is cheaper than g2a. Unless you desperately need the gift card, my pick will always be turgame.

total price inc surcharges for 200 TRY netflix GC
          turgame 209,38
g2a 228.47 is the cheapest I can find rn but it is from a seller with 12 reviews and 92% positive review

When you're buying up to 5 at a time, the extra cost adds up

          • @CodeXD: last time I got one from g2a there was bugger all difference with turgame but yeah I prefer Turgame and just know sometimes it might take a few hours for the code. It's always worth checking different payment gateways on Turgame too as they all have different fees.

  • Thanks OP. I had some trouble with Turgame (order cancelled after 10mins - a few times despite TFA) but G2A went through with the same card details straight away.

    • +1

I had the same problem, issue is with IYZI payment. I switched to PAYTR as suggested by @nickunj and it worked.

  • SO I have to wait till I cant watch any movies on netflix even though I have the option to restart membership. Have the code all ready, gave me an error. But when I looked I didnt relise I still have two days left. Will Wait and see and try again.

    • make sure you follow all the instructions in the first post or it will fail

      • Yea I was being impatient. haha

  • Problems with Turgame. They gave me a code and it wont work. Am connected to Turkish VPN (Urban VPN) and won't accept the code. Contacted Turgame and gave me some weird instructions.

here is no problem with the code given to you. You can install by following the steps below.
Follow the steps below. While doing these operations, the VPN will be on and you will be connected to the Turkey IP. (If you still have problems, use a different VPN service.)

    1. Connect to VPN
    2. Select any city in Turkey.
    3. Login to gmail new account creation page.
    4. Get a new email address.
    5. Open the Netflix code download page.
    6. Type the code.
    7. Enter the e-mail address you just received on the page that opens and continue to upload.
    8. After the installation, you can turn off the VPN and watch netflix by typing this e-mail on your country’s IP.
    9. When you upload to the same mail address, you can connect to Turkey IP with VPN and upload.
    10. You cannot upload the code you received from us to an account that you did not receive from a Turkish IP.

    Regards

    • Did this work for you?

    • if your My account page at Netflix shows billing in TL then you don't need a VPN to enter the code.

      • Not Netflix but got a Google play GC from Turgames and Google need “more information”, tried different vpn’s and on new account (Turkish). Do they crack down or turgames GC? The Apple one worked to my Turkish Apple.

  • Anyone else getting this message: 'Your account is on hold. Update your payment info to keep enjoying Netflix.'? Randomly popped up this morning, trying to work out how to get around it as it's connected to my credit card so no reason it shouldn't work.

      Buy turkey netflix gift cards

    • I got his today as well. It charged to my VISA fine last month.
I had to buy a Turkish gift card and redeemed.

      • +1

I forgot to reply with my update, I ended up speaking to live chat and giving them my debit card instead of my credit card and it worked.

    • I have an email sent to me today. I will try to speak to live chat today !

      • How did you go with live chat? i got this email this morning now.

        • +1

I also got the email, got onto live chat and updated with the same credit card that was on file.

          • @Crossroadz: Does that mean Netflix is able to charge your card now? And did they ask you about mobile number confirmation?

            • @ferds: Yes Netflix is being paid through my card again. No, they didnt ask about mobile number confirmation.

          • @Crossroadz: Same, working again now
