Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Updates:

  • 27/06/23 2pm – Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
    • Original deal post rates: Basic TL₺63.99 (~A$4.06), Standard TL₺97.99 (~A$6.22), Premium TL₺130.99 (~A$8.31)
  • 07/07/23 2am – Updated FAQ section to include all error codes as a result of the 30-day local restriction lockout.
  • 08/07/23 11pm – Updated Instructions section to include a new sign up method via OlduBil's Turkish Virtual Mastercard (Instructions – Method #2), with screenshots (tested and confirmed). I'll be drafting another set of instructions to separate Method #1 (Part 2) as another sign up method via a Turkey phone number. Stay tuned!

You probably know by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's going to be good and better than the previous one. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • problems related to new subscriber sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • new statistics in regards to pricing
  • screenshots at each necessary step of the sign up process (yes, I unnecessaily spent a chunk of money to test the local region lockout and to obtain screenshots to better guide everyone through the sign up process! I hope this helps - please see Instructions Part 3 for these screenshots)

Note that due to a recent and continuing crash in the Turkish Lira currency, the TRY-AUD is hitting an all time low. All prices in this guide are current as of 27 June 2023.

Netflix Post History Notes
09/06/2023 - This post Netflix Region Lock
28/01/2023 Price Hike
22/10/2022 Price Hike
14/06/2022 Price Hike
01/10/2021

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to Netflix imposing a lock region lock. Luckily, there are no more price hikes for now, after having the third price hike for Turkey within a 10 month period.

  • Turkey is no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 in a span of just over a year).
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible, so avoid this path.
  • NEW!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan - that's a 42.9% and 26.3% increase, respectively). The Argentina Peso has dropped, but plans are still more expensive.

Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2

There are plenty of previous threads on users commenting their experience. Please read it if you are stuck. See here and here and here and here and here

Instructions – Method #1 (If you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month)

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Direct Method - No Gift Cards - MOST LIKELY TO FAIL - AVOID)

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method

Possibly working cards from: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie

Possible Problem: If it asks for a Turkish mobile number, you will have to find a working one so they can send you verification. AFAIK, there is no way bypassing this and you will need to sign up via Part 3

Part 3 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Using Gift Cards if Part 2 Fails) - EASIEST METHOD

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

  • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

  • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

  1. You’re done! Turn off your VPN and enjoy your subscription :)

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want Netflix to charge your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard each month)

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs, where possible.

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: It seems like every new sign-up to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This can take anywhere from as little as several days to 30 days. There are many reports from OzBargainers and others reporting this error disappears within 30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise the error will pop up). Since this is only temporary, it shouldn't be a problem after 30 days or so, andthis small hassle is well worth the savings.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN for this

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely! See Part A

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

@I Smell Pennies: he also let his account expire so if he then restarted it, it could trigger another 30 days. Using a VPN seems to work well anyway - much better than being screwed by Netflix on price

            • @DavidFW1960: VPN means your content is limited to Turkey, so not exactly the same experience even if you turn off VPN after the video is playing

              • @meong: I'm aware it's a different catalog. Still better than paying NF $23/month. I don't bother screwing with the VPN when video playing. I'm using my CCwGTV and don't even think I could do that if I wanted to.

                • @DavidFW1960: Actually, I was incorrect:

You can log in to Netflix app with VPN off so you still have access to all the Aussie catalogue. Only turn on the VPN just before you press play. After that you can pause then turn off VPN again.

You still need to turn VPN on again before the start of the next series though so that can be annoying.

                  • @meong:

You can log in to Netflix app with VPN off so you still have access to all the Aussie catalogue

That's correct. You can only log in with VPN off. Turning on VPN and logging in gives an error

Only turn on the VPN just before you press play. After that you can pause then turn off VPN again.

                    Correct too!

Only turn on the VPN just before you press play. After that you can pause then turn off VPN again.

Does this work on a Chromecast? Not sure I can do that.

So what about titles in the AU catalog.. Are you saying I can view them with a Turkish VPN?

                    • @DavidFW1960: with Chromecast, because the Chromecast itself is the one making the call to the stream, you will need to turn on VPN on the device that you're casting into (not your phone).

So, with Google TV, you can just install (or sideload) VPN app onto the TV. With Chromecast that doesn't have Android TV OS, you will need to set it on your router.

                      • @meong: I have a working VPN on the CC already - but if I'm in Netflix I need to bail out to start the VPN - I usually load the vpn before I start netflix. Not sure how I can load VPN after netflix is running… I don't think it multi-tasks like that?

                        • @DavidFW1960: i have only tested on my phone but what I did was pressing home after pressing play, then turn off VPN and go back to Netflix again…

in my understanding Android TV does have multi-tasking so maybe you want to try pressing home on your remote, turn off VPN then go back to netflix?

                          • @meong: on My PC I tried it with a title I know isn't available in Turkey and It gives me a title unavailable in your country error.
I loaded Netflix and searched for the title and then activated the VPN before pressing play and then got that error

                          • @meong: Yeah no joy. On CC wouldnt work either. Just wouldn't play…

          • @I Smell Pennies: Hope my subscription will keep on going.

While you are waiting you can read FAQ in this amazing post. ;)

  • Guys,

When paying for my 100 TRY GC using Turgame, I was charged the following additional fees. Is this normal?
    Subtotal
    100,00 TRY
    Service Fee
    5,00 TRY
    Payment Partner Fee
    2,80 TRY
    Total
    107,80 TRY

    • Yes, cheaper than g2a. I got charged the same

      • Are these fees fixed? Or is it a percentage of the GC amount?

        • fixed by number of GCs

          • @I Smell Pennies: Thanks, will get more GC once the 100 TRY GC credits run out. Interestingly on the 130.99 plan, Netflix Turkey seems to automatically adjust the billing period so that the 100 TRY GC runs out in like 22 days or so. I signed up on 07/06. It says next billing date is 29/06.

Yeah, it does so proportionally. Once they change it, it's the same date each month

              • @I Smell Pennies: I was prompted to enter a Turkey mobile number, when I tried adding a credit card. I have tried this several times. I haven't tried asking Netflix Support for help yet

    Thanks OP,
I followed different thread 2weeks back. I have signed up using gift card, but I don't have phone number or card details added. I am waiting for 30days to switch to watch without having to use VPN(hopefully as per the thread).
Do you think I can add the card detail via popup like explained ? 🤔

FYI, my region lock got cleared.
Started on 25th may, cleared from 24th June

  • Has anyone tried this with Surfshark VPN?

  • +2

Step 1 & 3 worked perfectly for me, thanks!

  • Are you 100% sure the lockout is only temporary? Just signed up and also getting the location error. Thanks though!

    • Yes, from every report I’ve heard everyone has reported their account back to normal after 30 days

  • +1

Firstly, the effort that has gone into this post is brilliant, fantastic work!

I'm wondering though if I should jump through all these hoops, or just get "someone" paying for a premium plan to add me as an extra user for $7.99 a month (which I obviously pay them)?

Basically the same price as a Turkish premium plan (yes, less benefits than a full plan ie. can only watch on one device) but less complicated?

  • +1

Very nice guide OP. Way to go! Gutted that my fee for this month was processed before the crash.

    Hey Pennies.

Love all your posts, saved me alot in subscription, so very appreciative.
Just wondering, does this change the status of the Netflix account?
Ie, I know Australia was first to try out the 'Out of Family' thing, which has affected my self/situation.
    Will doing this change that?

    Thanks

Edit - Also, do you have a library of your previous posts?
I see them around but do you have a consolidated list of services you have done this on?

Nope, Password sharing is not currently applied to Turkey

Just an fyi, I've been using Eneba for Turkish Netflix gift cards as well, which I've never had a problem with.

I couldn't get the windscribe VPN to work via. chrome extension. Kept landing me in Saudi Arabia and from what I can see there is only 1 free option to select for Turkey.

EDIT: Ok, even with the Turkey VPN on with Windscribe and https://whatismyipaddress.com/ location stating Saudi Arabia, I still managed to sign up. Part 1 refund was instant. Part 3 took 5 minutes. Gift card purchased through TURGAME.

    Absolute champion thanks!

  • +1

Thank you gang. Will try this mid next week when my subscription will end.

  • +2

Hey OP, appreciate your effort and staying active here!

I think I set up Türkiye Netflix Netflix before seeing this post, so right now, my situation is:

    • Active Türkiye Netflix using gift cards
    • No AU card saved to the account
    • Only PayPal saved to the account
    • AU mobile number saved to the account

I have tried adding the AU card, which as you knew, asked me to verify via a Türkiye mobile number.

Any suggestions on how I can possibly switch to direct debit?

or perhaps it's easiest just to sign up to a new account with the steps mentioned?

    Cheers!

Contact live chat, tell them you have difficulties in updating your payment info. When they ask you what error you got you just say you've got an error something like "your request can't be processed, please try again later", then the CS will verify you by sending a code to your AU mobile number that you've saved in your account. After verifying they will send you a form in the chat screen which you can input your credit card info, you can then submit and that's it.

Thanks mate. See above comment from @OzComment who perfectly answers that

Try to use your Tv Netflix app to update credit card payment (I had vpn on turkey while I was doing it).

Latitude card went through for me. No turkey number verification.

  • Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2

Do you have to wait for your subscription to finish for the process to work, or is it simply so you don't waste days on your current sub?

    • +3

you can contact live chat and request for refund and cancel your subscription. Once they have refunded then the sub is finished. You know this when you go to Netflix.com and Netflix will ask you to restart your subscription.

      • Good to know, thanks.

Can I ask with the recent crackdown on sharing accounts to non household peeps, does this in anyway affect it? Australian account mainly sharing with Malaysia. TIA.

    • Netflix's crackdown on password sharing begins in Australia. You'll now need to pay an extra $8 a month to share outside your household.24 May 2023

Not yet in Turkey, they have yet to announce anything!

    • +1

turkish accounts don’t work in malaysia. they’ll have to use a vpn.

  • +3

I once tried to explain the process of getting a Turkish Netflix account to a non Ozbargainer…

I don’t recommend it. - they be thinking you are crazy

    • +2

Ha, yeah, I did the same. They have avoided discussing such things with me ever since i.e. who is that mad hatter! :-)

    • +2

You are crazy for trying to explain the process. I have tried too and generally give up.

    • +2

This is my experience too lol. I figured that if they don't care then let them pay more.

    • Same here hahahaha

    • +1

      same lol

I even provided them the links and they were like wtf o_O

An asset to the community, thanks!

All because of support like you!

  • Anything on stan by chance?

    • +1

I don’t think so but I’ll look into it

    • +1

Stan is an Australian platform so I don't think there will ever be any tricks to get it cheaper.

  • +2

    Love your work mate!
Any chance you have one for Nebula?

    • +3

Thank you! I’ll look into it soon

      • Legend! Thanks Mateeee! Let us know if you have any luck! Cheers:)

Hi, I successfully got an account, but I'm getting an error "Your account can't be used on this device" M7111-5095. But it works with the Turkey VPN.

I'm assuming this is the same error as the S7111-5095 and will go away after a bit. I got the premium account.

    • That’s new to me. Interesting. Keep us updated in 30 days

      • I got the account without being in Istanbul, couldn't get expressvpn to connect to Istanbul. Not sure if that's related?

I'll check again in 30 days

      • +1

M7111-5095 is the location lock. I get the same error code as well. Netflix does work and won't give this code when going through a Turkey VPN.

@I Smell Pennies: Sounds like there is two location lock codes?? M7111-5095 & F7111-5095 on your post?

    • +1

My premium account without VPN at the moment is error F7111-5095.

      • +1

That’s the location lock. Should clear within 30 days.

Purchased Turgame giftcard (200) - in stock but still no delivery after an hour. Is this normal?

    • +2

I got mine in 2 mins but OP did say it was faster at night

      • +3

I think there are some manual processes from their end so you need to wait for their normal working hour start, which is around 9am their time or around 4pm AEST.

        • +1

Correct. Currently 6:35am their local time (1:35pm here). Wait a few more hours

          • @I Smell Pennies: they gave me some information about their hours you might like for the FAQ

Our working hours in Turkey are from 10:00 to 02:00 except Sunday, and from 12:00 to 02:00 on Sundays. (time zone +3)
Orders received after 02:00 are delivered at the beginning of the working day, that is, from 10:00.

        • ah well that now makes sense…

    • mine took ~8hrs to arrive

  • Yesterday, I bought TR gift cards and successfully signed up with a TR VPN, location Istanbul, without issues. Didnt watch anything, went to bed. Today, using the same VPN, Netflix says wrong password although its correct, and when trying to reset the password:
"Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later."

    • +2

disable the VPN when trying to login. It seems there will be a password error when trying to login with VPN connected.

      • Correct!

      • Thanks, I tried out another VPN server specifically for Netflix which fixed the issue. Unfortunately that one is very slow and netflix refuses to play stuff randomly…

  • One thing that's not quite clear to me is if you only need to buy the gift card only once to sign up (and then following payments use the card on the account), OR if you have to keep buying them and topping up your account?

    • I think the idea is your credit card company should allow transactions. If they don't you can keep buying giftcards I guess

    • you can keep using gift card but you can also add a credit card by contacting support once your subscription has been started, so gift card is only needed for the initial sign up. If you use credit card for the initial sign up, you will need to provide a Turkish mobile number for verification.

    • +1

Hey @Jebus, if you do Part 1 correctly and save your mobile and payment method in your account, once you get to Part 3 (signing up with the GC) you’ll be able to get each month deducted off your credit card by selecting “skip this step” see screenshots in instructions

If you don’t do Part 1 and simply skip to Part 3, you’ll need to do what @OzComment says

      • +1

Amazing, thanks for all the helpful info!

Is anyone using a VPN that makes watching Netflix bearable for the 30 day haul, Cyberghost made this process easy but is too slow and super low res

    • Torguard uses wireguard and I have watched NF in the USA and Prime and it seemed ok.

    • Same here, the normal turkish VPN server is fast but netflix detects it, the netflix specific server is slow and useless

    • +2

You could try using your VPN connected to Turkey to start the stream, then disconnect it after it starts playing. I've been doing this today and it seems to work ok.

      • Thanks I have been wondering the same thing

  • +1

    Great writeup mate

  • +1

Great work to the T of the process to get it right.

Can you confirm i can us this to login to Netflix on my TV without a vpn and will it work, or do i need to be behind VPN always?
