Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Updates:

  • 27/06/23 2pm – Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
    • Original deal post rates: Basic TL₺63.99 (~A$4.06), Standard TL₺97.99 (~A$6.22), Premium TL₺130.99 (~A$8.31)
  • 07/07/23 2am – Updated FAQ section to include all error codes as a result of the 30-day local restriction lockout.
  • 08/07/23 11pm – Updated Instructions section to include a new sign up method via OlduBil's Turkish Virtual Mastercard (Instructions – Method #2), with screenshots (tested and confirmed). I'll be drafting another set of instructions to separate Method #1 (Part 2) as another sign up method via a Turkey phone number. Stay tuned!

You probably know by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's going to be good and better than the previous one. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • problems related to new subscriber sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • new statistics in regards to pricing
  • screenshots at each necessary step of the sign up process (yes, I unnecessaily spent a chunk of money to test the local region lockout and to obtain screenshots to better guide everyone through the sign up process! I hope this helps - please see Instructions Part 3 for these screenshots)

Note that due to a recent and continuing crash in the Turkish Lira currency, the TRY-AUD is hitting an all time low. All prices in this guide are current as of 27 June 2023.

Netflix Post History Notes
09/06/2023 - This post Netflix Region Lock
28/01/2023 Price Hike
22/10/2022 Price Hike
14/06/2022 Price Hike
01/10/2021

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to Netflix imposing a lock region lock. Luckily, there are no more price hikes for now, after having the third price hike for Turkey within a 10 month period.

  • Turkey is no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 in a span of just over a year).
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible, so avoid this path.
  • NEW!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan - that's a 42.9% and 26.3% increase, respectively). The Argentina Peso has dropped, but plans are still more expensive.

Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2

There are plenty of previous threads on users commenting their experience. Please read it if you are stuck. See here and here and here and here and here

Instructions – Method #1 (If you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month)

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Direct Method - No Gift Cards - MOST LIKELY TO FAIL - AVOID)

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method

Possibly working cards from: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie

Possible Problem: If it asks for a Turkish mobile number, you will have to find a working one so they can send you verification. AFAIK, there is no way bypassing this and you will need to sign up via Part 3

Part 3 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Using Gift Cards if Part 2 Fails) - EASIEST METHOD

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

  • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

  • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

  1. You’re done! Turn off your VPN and enjoy your subscription :)

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want Netflix to charge your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard each month)

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs, where possible.

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: It seems like every new sign-up to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This can take anywhere from as little as several days to 30 days. There are many reports from OzBargainers and others reporting this error disappears within 30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise the error will pop up). Since this is only temporary, it shouldn't be a problem after 30 days or so, andthis small hassle is well worth the savings.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN for this

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely! See Part A

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

definitely the VPN is giving the wrong location. try a different one

          Try Urban VPN

          • @I Smell Pennies: Legend! Urban works.

Now just need to get a gift card because when i tried to put in my credit card it needed a turkish number. Yes I did read Part 3 but it was worth a try to not pay gift card fees ><

@I Smell Pennies: crap! by the time I got my gift card Urban and Windscribe both don't work. Sends me to ro-en. I wonder if they're cottoning on?

            • +1

@Juice08: Just turn it off and on and try again, it's a VPN problem not a Netflix problem. Let me know if it works otherwise PM me and I'll do it for you

@I Smell Pennies: Thanks I Smell Pennies!! I appreciate your constant 'helpdesk' on this thread. I'm not tech savvy so was afraid I was missing something but I managed to get a VPN that's host was from the 'Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus' I think (?). The others were based in Europe and kept being detected despite whatismyIP saying I was in Turkey.

With the ongoing savings I think everyone should donate to your cause! I will be buying you a coffee!

                • @Juice08: Legend. Always happy to help. Thanks for your support. So is it working now? Do you still need any help?

Just wanted to share my appreciation for such a comprehensive guide! Although I had set mine up a few years ago, something like this would’ve helped tremendously.

For me, linking the phone number to the account and getting the code sent to your AU number was the toughest when trying to link the debit card.

What worked for me at the time was logging into Netflix via safari on the phone and adding in the number there. I remember being able to change the country code to +61.

Anyhow, I was able to set up 2 separate accounts - one for family and one for friends. So I have one acc with my UP Bank card, the other with the Crypto.com card. (Had difficulties linking any debit cards but Crypto.com card worked)

My issue now is trying to add my debit card as a backup card to replace the Crypto.com card - their rates are slightly slightly higher than UP.

Even though my AU number is linked, I still have to provide a Turkish number.

Tbh, no big deal but every penny counts!

    • Thanks for your support. Please see FAQ section

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

  • @I Smell Pennies - Wonder if I could gt your thoughts on this one. I may have hit a snag with the reason I used to cancel my account. I told the rep that one of my kids had created an account when they shouldn't have. So they cancelled the account but also blocked the payment method I had on file as they deemed it an unauthorised payment.

I am still signed in and I now get the Restart Your Membership prompt. Trouble is, I don't know that I will be able to go through the process and use the credit card on file.

I have got the Turkish gift card key already so in theory I am good to go to part 3. Do you know whether I can keep going here and then change my card to my wifes CC once I restart my account from step 3? Could I possibly go through the motions and then try the live chat to get a change of payment form sent to me perhaps???

Or am I going to need to go through this again but set the account up in my wife's name and mobile?

Before I cancelled everything else was in place (verified phone number).

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    • +1

If you're able to proceed to choose a plan and successfully subscribe, then you can live chat after and request the popup form.

If it asks for a Turkish number, best to restart from Part 1.

      • +1

@I Smell Pennies - Ok so I wasn't able to change the credit card without needing to have an SMS sent but I was successful via Live Chat on the first attempt. They provided me with the secure form and I was able to add my Wise card to the account.

So all being well I am good to go. From what I have read from other comments I just need to ensure I use the Turkey VPN for "up to" the next 30 days and at some point the geo restriction should be removed.

Let's see how we go. Thanks for the write up, great help!!!!!

  • +1

Worked for me as well with hiccups. Had login issues (invalid password) after Turkey signup was completed, possibly due to some profile transfer within Netflix systems.

All good now, watching Netflix via OpenVPN on Ubiquiti router.

    Thanks @I Smell Pennies

    • No worries. Do note that Netflix will throw an error if you login with VPN on. For the first 30 days, only turn on VPN after logging in.

      • For me it’s the opposite. Logging in without VPN threw that error for about 1 hour after I signed up via part 3 option, on an “expired” Australian account that was on the “ads” plan.

I suspect there was some profile transfer happening and was a bit worried I was permanently locked out.

It was very strange but all good now :)

Note for your guide maybe @ I Smell Pennies: Windscribe “free” Turkey servers did not work (Windscribe has 1 Free and 2 At-Cost Turkish VPN options). Had to sign up to the $3US minimum plan option via portal to be able to select At-Cost Turkish option, and be given VPN IP that actually was in Turkey. The free ones appeared to be in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and VIC, AU.

  • Hi, I followed part 3 and got the gift card and the account setup was all good. But when I disable the VPN it says "your account cannot be used in this location. For more info, go to help.netflix".

This error is on phone and website without VPN

    Can use some help?

  • I have a A$20 Netflix gift card. For a new subscription using that gift card, do I still need to save debit/credit card and ask them to cancel subscription as mentioned in part 1 before proceed to the rest?

    • +1

I’d save the $20 GC for the future and just sign up with Part 1 without the GC (imo).

  • How are you guys buying from Turgame? I've tried to checkout and it says I'm using a VPN, then when I do turn my VPN on to Istanbul, it still gives me a VPN error and won't let me checkout :(

Edit : ah well, bought it from g2a and received instantly, heres hoping all goes well in a few otherwise i'd be putting up a gift card in the classifieds lol

    • You shouldn’t be having any trouble. If you need help send me a PM and I’ll redeem it for you on your account

      • Thanks! tried the no gift card method over a year ago and it massively backfired and blocked all my cards, have been too scared to give it another go until this guide :D

      • Success! But getting Error code M7111-5095, guess my sister wont be able to use it until it disappears lol. Nord + Chromecast gets stuck before show loads :(

    • +1

I don't think I needed to use any VPN to buy the giftcard from Turgame and I got another one last week. You do need to use a VPN to redeem the card on Netflix though

      • I tried on both my pc and phone and it just kept saying VPN detected action blocked even when it wasn't on. Thought it might need me to be in Turkey so I did turn that on and it still wouldn't let me lol. Incognito mode as well

        • sounds like a router level vpn? You are saying Turgame detects VPN not Netflix right?

          • @DavidFW1960: Nah Im not that advanced to set it up on my router lol I just have a nord app. I try to pay for it but get this and can't proceed

            Action Required. Attention please!

We have noticed that you are accessing our site via Proxy or VPN.
You must turn off the proxy or VPN connection before you can complete the payment

            • @MeesusEff: You don’t need a VPN to buy the gift card. Just buy normally without Nord VPN on.

Then follow the guide carefully, line by line. :)

              • @ahara: That's what I'm saying… Turgame wouldn't let me buy the gift card with VPN off or on. Just weird. And no, no VPN in my router level or anything. Ah well, just pay a lil extra for g2a

                • @MeesusEff: Bought my card from Turgame without issues.
Maybe your IP has been flagged previously, who knows. :(

  • Just signed up as per STEP1… CC and Mobiile#… should I cancel straight away?
    or wait for tomorrow maybe?

    • I cancelled it straight away

  • Thanks OP! Just signed up, everythings working. I have cancelled my VPN Subscription as I do not have any geolocking errors yet. My Plan is still 130 TRY per month. I see people saying use a VPN for up to 30 days?

Is that a requirement to use Turkey VPN for 30 days even when theres no lock out error?

    • I don’t believe it’s a requirement, but maybe you have not entered your Australian backup payment correctly and it does not lock you out because of it genuinely assuming for you to be “traveling”.

I have the lockout issue (with Australian CC as backup) and I did the full signup process 2 days ago.

  • Hi, how about your credit card expire? Update cc details in australia netflix?

  • I got hit with the "Your account can't be used in this location" - Error S7111-5095.
No Netflix for me for 30 days :-(

You can still VPN to watch

    • Nord add on + Chromecast = unusable, just stuck on loading screen

i bought a 100TL card and signed up for the middle plan, but upgraded to the top tier plan so that hopefully it ll use up the gift card value faster to charge my CC and lift the lock lol

  • Has anyone had their account region lock removed yet to verify if it will eventually be removed ~30 days?

  • Hi all,

I have been using Netflix Turkey for the past 2 years (?), my AU ING debit card expired a few days ago. just to update my experience:
    a) tried updating new debit card number - Netflix prompted for Turkey phone number to send OTP = wont work
    b) bought a 200TL gift card from Turgame + redeemed on Netflix account - works perfectly
    c) just update my Oldubil debit card into my account - worked perfectly, no OTP needed.

Let's see what happens in my next deduction in Oct 2023 =)

    • As in FAQ, you can also online chat with them ask them to let you update your CC from their online chat form, like I did.

      • I called Netflix yesterday, and also just got off online chat. The magic question that both reps asked:

Where was this account created and where are you currently?

        https://ibb.co/Prnkq7T

Netflix is aware of our abuses =(

        • I told them AUS but I also asked them to let me update from the online chat.

        • +1

I just told them my credit card got hacked and I have received a replacement from my bank. I need to update my card details urgently now for security reason.
They were able to send the online form promptly during the chat.

  • I used my OlduBil credit card I created for Spotify to pay and didn't need to provide a Turkish mobile number… Need a VPN active to watch it but hopefully that lock will be lifted after 30 days.

    • Ahh, good to know I can use OlduBil for Netflix also, cheers. I literally just sorted that out today for my Spotify. Bring on the savings! 🤑

      • +1

@KangaDrew for Netflix, best to sign up as per this deal with the Gift Card method. See my reasoning here

Each time you transfer into OlduBil the fees make it not as worthwhile. Up to you though :)

        • That's a good point, I just figured I have to keep my OlduBil topped up for Spotify anyway I might as well add a bit more for Netflix as well.

        • +4

I transferred 1300 TRY the other day and used 299 for a 12 month prepay on Spotify, so I've got a healthy buffer left. I tend to use the GC method for topping up my Turkish Apple ID for in-app subs, but you might be on to something with the GC method. A couple of dollars in fees once a year (given the ease of use using Revolurt and OlduBil to load up the Turkish credit card) actually doesn't bother me too much as these methods you've put together are creating huge savings overall. I'll need to do some reading to cover off the pros and cons of each method though, but thanks for the tip!!

Speaking of tips, seriously, these guides! 😱 From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU! The time and effort you've taken to test out different methodologies, followed by the painstakingly detailed walk through guides with embedded links all throughout… I can only imagine just how much time you've sunk into compiling these guides, so a massive salute to you!

@KangaDrew: @KangaDrew I love this comment. Thank you so much for your support mate, really appreciate it. As long as I'm helping this community save money, it makes me happy. If you need any future help I'm only a PM away :)

            • +4

@I Smell Pennies: As someone who actually creates user guides for clients and maintains a knowledge base of articles, I know all too well just how time consuming they can be. And yours are next level! Every possible scenario is catered for and no stone is left unturned. It takes a lot to impress me with support documentation, but damn, colour me impressed! 😲

You'll be getting my July Spotify Premium $ amount redirected to you in the form of "coffees" tomorrow 🤑 It's the least I can do!

my card had just expired. I jumped online to update myself but it prompted for a turkish phone number. Jumped online and asked for a payment form popup. Went through some verification via email. She popped up a form. Entered details. And it seems all is now good.

    • I am having the same issue soon, did it pop up when you're on a browser or in an app?

  • Interesting, getting errord when trying to activate my GC. Giving me an error.

    • VPN issue. Change to a different service.

@I Smell Pennies Good news. Signed up on 06/06. Today is day 29, and very happy to report that my geo-lock has been lifted. Thanks for all your efforts

  • Say if I'm only going to buy a single month of Netflix here and there (like maybe a few times a year at most), can I skip setting up an Australian account with my CC and phone number, and just sign up each time via the following steps?

    • Buy Turkey Netflix gift card
    • Activate VPN
    • Redeem gift card
    • Complete sign up process
    • Deactivate VPN
    • Start watching

Or is having an Australian account with my CC and phone number important regardless?

    Thanks!

    • +1

You have tohave a valid backup payment method to signup so a CC and mobile so nope.

    • +1

Not worth it to do it every time. That means you will always be on the region lock out.

I would suggest to do it once, and then change to lowest tier plan and upgrade when you wanna watch.

Here's another report back, my geo-block has lifted today. Was still restricted yesterday and prior.

So 28 days for me, bucking the 29 day trend :D

I signed up on 8th June via Part 2 - using ING Visa Debit, via the SMS hack on page 1
    Technically here

Thanks for the previous post and comments to @I Smell Pennies & @keepingtrack

    • +1

Good to hear, thanks for reporting back :)

I'll investigate the SMS hack and include it in the post body. Also investigating an alternate sign up method that many of you probably know now. Stay tuned :)

@I Smell Pennies is there a Spotify work around you got?

  • Do you still have Netflix password sharing issues with this method?
I currently share with friends and I've had the first 'your in a different household' type message come up, luckily I could easily get the code that time, which gives me another 30 days, but may not always be able to

    • +1

Turkey hasn't rolled out password sharing blocks yet

  • +1

Op is a legend for putting this all together

But I don't know how you guys do it. Tried like 10 different VPN services and most of time it is "code invalid" or less frequently error with redemption try again later. I'm done, who wants a free gift card? 😁

    • I'll have a crack

    • Please

    • is your subscription finished before trying to redeem these GCs

    • Try a couple different vpn's, I used urban for spotify and youtube but it wouldn't work on netflix.
Downloaded Turkey vpn from the playstore, has a million ads but it worked.

    • Just did it, I first tried with VPN Unlimited because I bought a lifetime sub years ago but that gave me the same error. I then tried Norton VPN because they have a 30 day trial and worked first go.

I am, however, getting the error code when trying to watch something, so will have to see how that goes for if/when that goes away. Guide says up to 30 days so we'll see.

    • The way i did it, use Windscribe, make sure you land in Istanbul, then at the same time, use UrbanVPN to Turkey. Worked for me.

    • Thanks folks, I think I tried it all, even a double VPN. Appreciate everyone's feedback. At this point I hate Netflix, not even going to resubscribe at Aussie prices, going to lead a Netflix free life :)

      • +1

@user957153 hey, I can help. You still got the GC? PM me pls

        • Thanks mate really appreciate it, but I gave it away already.

  • I simply signed up for new account with Turkish VPN and entered Oldubil card details, then Australian phone number. No issues, but I can’t use without vpn for now

  • At the payment screen of TURGAME, I am promoted to use one of the 4 following payment providers. But none of them seem to work. What gives?
Credit or debit card - IYZI
Credit or debit card - PAYTR
Credit or debit card - PARA
Credit or debit card - GPAY

I am inputting my OlduBil card details when prompted, and it attempts to process the payment but fails no matter which of those 4 options I try.

    • +1

Why not use your Australian card?

      • +1

Oh! I didn't realise that would work.
I've read so many of your guides the past couple of days that I am starting to muddle up steps between guides. Doh! I'll try my Latileak 28Degrees Card.

    • +1

With turgame why are you using oldubil?
Just use aussie ccard, pretty sure they paytr had the cheapest fees if I remember correctly from another thread ??

      • +1

Thanks mate. I have realised where I was going wrong.
On top of that I have just read Pennies latest comment and might try signing up via Part 2 first.

    • I failed to buy 2nd time by using my Aussie credit card, same card used at previous sign up. Anyone had issue with Turgame right now?

  • +2

Just done some tests. Signed up successfully to Netflix Turkey on a fresh new Australian account with VPN, and used the OlduBil Virtual Mastercard (i.e. Part 2). The account does not have a phone number, nor did it ask for one during sign up. I will draft a new set of instructions soon for those who wish to sign up this way. Of course the 30 day region lock is there as expected.

    • +1

      Confirmed working!
      (Yep 30 day region lock!)
      Absolute legend @I Smell Pennies

    • I tried using this method today and it insisted on a Turkish mobile number for verification before it would open the account.

      • Same thing happening to me, were you able to get around this?
