Welcome to the ultimate guide of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023:

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • This deal is expired and is effectively over at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

18/07/23: OlduBil has increased their top-up fees to 9.3% (up from 6.25%) stating "Dear customer, our global operations cost increased due to high inflation rate in Turkish Lira. In order to continue the service we provide you we had to change our top-up commission to 9,3%. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Updates:

  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Fixed the incorrect plan total amount, thanks to @6wolfy9
  • 27/06/23 1:30pm - Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. Please avoid Wise if you can and go the Revolut route. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest). For those who have already initiated a transfer via Wise, feel free to cancel the transfer (or let it send anyway in case you want to buy cheap Turkey products and services or sign up to other cheap Turkey subs) and go to Revolut.
  • 28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer
  • 03/07/23 2:00am - Edited method, I'm so sorry for making all of you pay for an extra month for no reason for the 36 months plan. Please forgive me.
  • 04/07/23 6:30pm - Microsoft must have caught on, and are blocking OlduBil Virtual cards due to security issues (good fraud prevention). This is an easy fix, and THIS DEAL IS STILL WELL AND ALIVE! Here's what you need to do:
    • Log on microsoft, then go to Contact Us. Click "Contact us" to bring up the 'Contact us' window. For the first dropdown field "What are you having trouble with", select "Subscriptions and Billing". For the second dropdown field "What's the issue", select "I need help purchasing content". For the third field "Describe your issue", man up and say something. Click "Next" > "See contact options" > "Chat online" then you'll be connected with an agent instantly. Tell them you are not able to add your credit card and ask if there's a problem on your MS account. If they ask ridiculous questions, pretend it's all working fine and start a new chat.

Credits to @Scrooge McDeal, who suggested I make a guide on this awesome ALL TIME LOW deal! And you probably know me by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's gonna be good (let me know if someone else can do it better pls). Like Netflix and Disney Plus and literally every guide I've made, I spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of this method (I tested transfers from Wise into OlduBil) as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). From this testing, I believe this opens a new doorway to a variety of insane deals and prices we weren't able to previously obtain. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day. The 14 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺374,94 TL ($21.64 AUD, or $1.55/mth) and the 36 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺1034,72 TL ($59.68 AUD, or $1.66/mth). Note that despite the long term 36 month plan has a higher $/mth, it works out cheaper because if you signed up to 14 months, you'll be paying almost 3 times higher if you want to extend at the end of the 14th month.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • No VPN required
  • You must have no current subscriptions

Part 2a - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Wise (App or Web)

Wise fee: ~A$2.13, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Log in or create an account on Wise. You can use the Wise website, or the Wise app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  2. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee).

  3. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, click onto "Australian Dollar", then "Convert", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "continue" then "convert". Wise charges a 1.07% fee for AUD-TRY conversions.

  4. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, click onto "Turkish Lira", then "Send", then select "Same currency". Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Wise charges a ₺24.34 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). Click "continue", then "New contact", then "Someone else". On this page, leave the "their email" box empty, and tick "I know their bank details". For the "Full name of the account holder" field, type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and for the "IBAN" field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. Continue and in the "Review transfer details" section (see screenshot), double check everything is correct and then for the "Reference for TURK" field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Tick the confirmation box and then "Confirm and send". This transfer will only be initiated during normal Turkey business hours and takes around 10 minutes on Wise's end. My transfer took 2 hours to land into my OlduBil account.

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

Part 2b - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Revolut (App only)

Revolut fee: ~A$1.79, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Download the Revolut app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) if you don't already have it installed.

  2. Open the app and log in or create an account (if you don't have it already).

  3. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account via a debit/credit card (instant, no fee), Apple Pay (instant, no fee), Google Pay (instant, no fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (usually instant, no fee).

  4. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, select "Australian Dollar", then "Exchange", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "Review order" then "Sell AUD for TRY". Revolut charges no fee for currency conversions.

  5. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, go to the buttom tabs of the app and click onto "Transfer", then "+ New" (top right corner), then select "Send International". Scroll down and select "Türkiye" as the destination. Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Revolut charges a ₺30.15 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). For the transer method, select "Bank Account" (this is probably default anyway). For the Reference field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Click "Continue", then on the "Who to pay" page, tap "+ New" (top right corner). Select the "Business" tab. For the IBAN field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the BIC/SWIFT field, type in the BIC code you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the "Company name", type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and ignore the email field. Press "Add the recipient" then on the following page, enter the VakıfBank address (the one from Part 1 Step 3) and review the transfer and estimated arrival, then send it off to Turkey :))

HELP POINT using VakıfBank: TBC but very similar to Aktifbank (just different bank information) see above screenshots for process

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

When hit Oldubil think they used my current balance to cover the transfer fee and %.
              Maybe I was lucky?

              • @Mikael: I did a succesful transfer from Revolut to Oldubil today. Garanti bank.

                • @Ge3ks: Yeah. Good so I can do my YouTube yearly. Running out in a month or so. Cannot be bothered with family plan. Son already on individual too. Know it’s cheaper

They took payment but doesn’t reflect YouTube yet. Heard it can take a day??

Ahh payment bounced back to Oldubil.

                      • @Mikael: That's fate. SmartTube is amazing and far surpasses Youtube Premium. Give it a shot.

  • Oh shit I didn't see the update! I transferred from wise to oldubil garanti bank. It's been 12 hours. How screwed am I?

    • I transferred to

I wonder if this card would have any luck?

    https://wise.com/au/travel-money/turkish-lira-card

    • That's their standard Australian issued card, doesn't work any better than any other Australian Mastercard for international stuff. Misleading they call it a Turkish card.

      https://wise.com/au/travel-money/argentine-peso-card

It's also a "Peso card" etc etc. Just marketing bullshit.

  • Is it now too risky to transfer from Revolut to Odubil? And even if it still gets through, would it be on borrowed time?

  • Well after a month of going back and forth i finally got my money to my Odulbil card.

Now that this is over, what can i spend it on?
Can i just subscribe to Game Pass from Turkey to use up the funds?

  • My sub just expired yesterday, any way of getting that $1 for the first month offer again or new accounts only now?

wise to Vafik still working just transferred today and received

  • Does this deal still work? Is the conversion rate 3 months Gold: 2 months Ultimate?

  • +1

I transferred 100tr from Wise to Oldubil (garanti bank) on the 27th July (a Thursday), the money still hadn't been credited to my account the following Tuesday, so I contacted Oldubil via their contact link in the app with the title "funds not showing" with a copy of the Wise transaction receipt, they replied within minutes asking for my phone number, once I sent that through to them the money was in my account within an hour.

So that same day (Tuesday 1st August) I transferred the remainder of my Wise balance (890tr), Thursday the money still hadn't appeared so again I emailed them with a copy of the transaction receipt and my phone number, no reply from them this time but the money appeared in my account overnight.

So from my experience you can still transfer funds from Wise to Oldubil you may just need to jump through a couple of extra hoops than what you're used to.

As for Microsoft blocking Oldubil cards, I just used my Oldubil card today to buy a new release game from Turkey with no problems, though it was the card I used to set up the Gamepass subscription with a couple of weeks ago, so if you're using a brand new Oldubil card ymmv but preexisting cards that are already on your account seem to be working fine.

    • Thank you for sharing this. After following your advice, I can confirm this worked for me.

Wise > OlduBil (Garanti Bank). 48 hours after Wise confirmed my money transfer was cleared, the money still wasn't in my OlduBil account. I emailed OlduBil using email listed in app, stating funds not shown. I then had to confirm my phone, and send PDF proof from Wise of my account details and transaction receipt. After emailing OlduBil support, TL currency reached my OlduBil account within the hour.

Just use revolut mate, no need to stuff around emailing anyone. The less friction we create with this the better off we'll be in the long run.

        • +1

I'm in Canada so I have no choice but to use Wise.

        • Just tried Garanti via Revolut. IBAN no longer accepted. Have you tried any other banks lately?

  • +1

@I Smell Pennies it appears as though Garanti Bank is no longer an option. Revolut declines the transfer ('IBAN XYZ is not allowed'). I know that you previously updated this post but transfers are still accepted across the board. Just need to find a new bank I suppose.

I transferred money from Wise to Vakifbank a couple of days ago, and it worked for me. The funds were in my Oldubil account within minutes of the transfer.

  • Hi all, reading the above comments is giving me mixed messages if this is still working?
I haven't setup anything yet, so i'll be starting from scratch - does anyone recommend that I proceed with trying to get a virtual Turkish card, or against it?
I guess my primary use would be buying Xbox games and other digital goods from the Turkish region.

  • Also getting a rejection message from Revolut when trying to send to Garanti Bank.

    • Vakifbank it is. Want to do the honours and report back? :D

      • FWIW I did my xbox stuff via the first one Aktifbank (~1 month ago).
This was just a cheeky top up attempt to add to my 'spotify scraps'.
What makes you think Vakifbank may still work? If there is a reason to think this I can give it a try.

        • Guy above says his transfer from a couple of days ago went through successfully. I'm also in the top up boat.

@Cineaste: Alright, I'll give it a blast, but busy for a few hours.

          • @Cineaste: No dice

          • @Cineaste: I might try push my funds from Revolut to Wise as a test, and go from there.
If I can be bothered tonight.

            • @nzcoops: Dang, looks like they have withdrawn all participating banks? I have 700 TRY in my Revolut account.

              • @Cineaste: same position as you, Garanti bank is dead via Revolut

  • Garanti Bank via Revolut now dead. New bank needed

I just did a transfer via Vakifbank from Wise this afternoon and it went through immediately.

    • +1

Yeah but did it show up on Oldubil?

      • @evuser please let us know.

  • yep, just tried and it's no good

Garanti Bank via Revolut now dead. It does not work anymore. Does anyone have any solution?

  • I can also confirm Garanti and vakifbank not working :/ any news @ismellpennies

since Garanti Bankasi details doesn't work and if I want to do some tests with other banks what should I do?

  • -3

Hey, I'm adding funds from Revolut too OlduBil (1300 AEST) and I got an error at the last step of sending from Revolut to OlduBil saying "The recipient bank currently not available. we apologize for the inconvenience" Is this just because they are not currently operating? or have they stopped accepting transfer??

  • anyone try the disposable debit card method of deposit on oldubil with revolut?

  • Anyone found a new depositing method for OlduBil?

    • Did you at least try or are you waiting for the answer? I tested the first 4 and it doesn't work, it always gives me the same error

  • Guess this deal is finally dead for good, ah well it was fun while it lasted.

I tried to make the transfer to Kuveyt Türk and the details below follow. I anticipate that the transfer will be credited tomorrow so I'll update you tomorrow if it was successful.

Company/Receiver Name: TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S.
    IBAN: TR880020500001000438500001
    BIC: KTEFTRIS
    ADDRESS: Büyükdere Cad. No: 129/1
    ZIP: 34394
    CITY: İSTANBUL

    • Appreciate it mate

    • Thanks for this, I'm trying to send some liras over but getting an error (region contains unsupported characters) even though I have nothing in there

      • The "region contains unsupported characters" is a known issue that we have discussed a while ago in these comments. You basically remove certain punctuation characters that it doesn't like in the street address. I removed "/" and ":" to make it work, but I think you just need to remove the colon character only.

        • Thanks mate…removed the . : and /. That seemed to have worked…lets see if the funds show up tomorrow.

    • @dothack are you using Revolut as per "Part 2b" instructions with this new bank?

      • Yes, I'm using a Revolut card. Excuse me and excuse me if I didn't say it. Revolut sent the money this morning, now I'm waiting for it to arrive

    • Thanks mate you’re a legend!! I’m trying mine now! Out of curiosity where do you find the correct addresses for the banks?

      • If you are trying to send money from Revolut and it gives you the error is in the address you must remove the colon before the house number

    • +1

I've also given this a crack (since you posted it).. Sitting as pending (in Revolut) for 2h now. Will update.
I figured why not, got ~$20 Lira to play with.

      • Just got a confirmation email from Revolut that it has been sent.
        Not visible in oldubil yet.

        • Mine's been received also. Have to wait until working hours for it to be credited. The last couple of times my funds were processed by 6pm or shortly thereafter.

          • @Cineaste: Can you clarify what you mean by 'received'? Do you mean 'transfer sent' (from Revolut)?

            • @nzcoops: Received by bank. Revolut part is done.

              • @Cineaste: @Cineaste oh interesting, where did that confirmation come from?
I had a "Your transfer was successful" email from Revolut, but I'm reading that as 'sent' not 'landed' per se. Like "out for delivery" :P

                • +1

@nzcoops: Open the transaction on Revolut. You'll find a timeline with status updates. Mine says 'received by bank.'

        • Same…just got the same message

        • I'm waiting for the credit on OlduBil I hope it arrives or if not I have to try another account

    • +1

Awesome, thanks. 600 Lira on their way.

    • My money went through and delivered from Revolut but OlduBil saying their bank account is closed? Lol I emailed their support.

      • Same here. We're outta luck.

        • Oh well, $25 donation to OlduBil for their service to my 3-year gamepass subscription I guess :')

  • Just received the following email from Wise, shouldn't affect those of you that have Australian addresses presumably.

    Hello Areal Turkishman,

We’re changing how customers in Türkiye can use Wise

Due to new regulations in Türkiye, we need to change the way Wise customers with registered addresses in Türkiye can use the Wise account.

You can continue to use Wise to send money abroad from your bank account.

From today, you’re no longer able to:
    • Get new account details for any currency.
    • Add money to your Wise TRY balance from your Turkish bank account.
    • Use your Wise card. This is unrelated to recent regulatory changes and is due to Wise not being licensed to offer cards in Türkiye. Therefore, if you have a card it will no longer work with immediate effect.

After 9 October, you won’t be able to:
    • Open new balances and Jars to hold money in different currencies.
    • Convert between your Wise balances.
    • Add money to your existing Wise balances.
    • Send transfers from your Wise balances.
    • Receive money into Wise. This means that any Wise account details you have will stop working, and any money sent to these will be returned to the sender. Let your senders know that they can no longer send you money this way.

After 9 October, you can still use Wise to:
    • Withdraw any remaining money in your Wise balance to your own bank accounts. Your money is safe.
    • Send international transfers through Wise directly from your bank account in Türkiye.

We’re sorry about this. If you have any questions, please visit our help centre.

    Thanks,
    The Wise Team

I'm guessing the regulatory changes might also explain why Revolut have started cancelling transfers to Turkish banks.

    • Why did you receive the email? did you use Turkish address for Wise?

  • +1

Just an idea. Can we still purchase a couple of Turkish 12 months Xbox gold gift cards from a key reseller …activate them with Turkish vpn and then purchase the 1 month Xbox ultimate upgrade (without vpn) to convert it to two years of ultimate? Not quite as cheap but still much cheaper than Aus.

I tested a transaction from Wise and can confirm that it's still working. Money was sent from Wise on 09 August and was credited to Oldubil on 11 August. It was not credited automatically though, I had to email Oldubil's support channel with the receipt (note: they require a screenshot, link to the receipt won't work for them). They responded and updated my account within 1 hour.

FWIW, I used Garanti as the destination bank.

  • Sent some liras yesterday using the bank mentioned above.
didn't arrive in oldubil after 24 hours so sent them an email.
sent screen shots and provided my phone number and they replied with
    Hello,

This amount is not in our side because of this IBAN is not active , please you contact with your bank.

    Best Regards.

No idea where the funds are.

    • Same here. Last time it didn't go through I received a refund some 2 weeks later.

    • What was the IBAN that you used?

      • Company/Receiver Name: TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S.
        IBAN: TR880020500001000438500001
        BIC: KTEFTRIS
        ADDRESS: Büyükdere Cad. No: 129/1
        ZIP: 34394
        CITY: İSTANBUL

This info from a post above

        • That's the IBAN for Kuveyt Turk. I used Garanti and it worked for me (at least up to 2 days ago). Here's the one I used:

          IBAN:TR680006200161500006290893
          BIC: TGBATRIS

          • +1

            @zeppy: Thanks mate…will give that a try
I did ask oldubill what to use and they replied with this

            Hello,

You can make a deposit by using Turkish bak Ibans and write your Oldubil card number on description on Oldubil application. You can use all banks but please do not to use Aktif bank and Kuveyttürk.

            Best Regards

Edit: just gave it a try and says transfer to that IBAN is not allowed

            • @bbourizk: Sounds like you use Revolut? Try Wise instead.
Revolut is useless at this point. They reject all the Oldubil's IBANs.

            • -1

@bbourizk: The support is taken me around in circles literally just copy and pasting the same thing over and over. They said the Kuveyt IBAN is closed but then they keep telling me that all Ibans are active, they won’t listen to my question. They can’t all be active if one is closed lol

              • @Yaas: I sent some with wise yesterday using granati bank. With the details above.
Seems to have gone through where it wasn't with revolut. Now waiting to see if it shows up in oldubill
