Welcome to the ultimate guide of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023:

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • This deal is expired and is effectively over at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

18/07/23: OlduBil has increased their top-up fees to 9.3% (up from 6.25%) stating "Dear customer, our global operations cost increased due to high inflation rate in Turkish Lira. In order to continue the service we provide you we had to change our top-up commission to 9,3%. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Updates:

  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Fixed the incorrect plan total amount, thanks to @6wolfy9
  • 27/06/23 1:30pm - Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. Please avoid Wise if you can and go the Revolut route. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest). For those who have already initiated a transfer via Wise, feel free to cancel the transfer (or let it send anyway in case you want to buy cheap Turkey products and services or sign up to other cheap Turkey subs) and go to Revolut.
  • 28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer
  • 03/07/23 2:00am - Edited method, I'm so sorry for making all of you pay for an extra month for no reason for the 36 months plan. Please forgive me.
  • 04/07/23 6:30pm - Microsoft must have caught on, and are blocking OlduBil Virtual cards due to security issues (good fraud prevention). This is an easy fix, and THIS DEAL IS STILL WELL AND ALIVE! Here's what you need to do:
    • Log on microsoft, then go to Contact Us. Click "Contact us" to bring up the 'Contact us' window. For the first dropdown field "What are you having trouble with", select "Subscriptions and Billing". For the second dropdown field "What's the issue", select "I need help purchasing content". For the third field "Describe your issue", man up and say something. Click "Next" > "See contact options" > "Chat online" then you'll be connected with an agent instantly. Tell them you are not able to add your credit card and ask if there's a problem on your MS account. If they ask ridiculous questions, pretend it's all working fine and start a new chat.

Credits to @Scrooge McDeal, who suggested I make a guide on this awesome ALL TIME LOW deal! And you probably know me by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's gonna be good (let me know if someone else can do it better pls). Like Netflix and Disney Plus and literally every guide I've made, I spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of this method (I tested transfers from Wise into OlduBil) as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). From this testing, I believe this opens a new doorway to a variety of insane deals and prices we weren't able to previously obtain. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day. The 14 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺374,94 TL ($21.64 AUD, or $1.55/mth) and the 36 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺1034,72 TL ($59.68 AUD, or $1.66/mth). Note that despite the long term 36 month plan has a higher $/mth, it works out cheaper because if you signed up to 14 months, you'll be paying almost 3 times higher if you want to extend at the end of the 14th month.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • No VPN required
  • You must have no current subscriptions

Part 2a - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Wise (App or Web)

Wise fee: ~A$2.13, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Log in or create an account on Wise. You can use the Wise website, or the Wise app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  2. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee).

  3. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, click onto "Australian Dollar", then "Convert", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "continue" then "convert". Wise charges a 1.07% fee for AUD-TRY conversions.

  4. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, click onto "Turkish Lira", then "Send", then select "Same currency". Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Wise charges a ₺24.34 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). Click "continue", then "New contact", then "Someone else". On this page, leave the "their email" box empty, and tick "I know their bank details". For the "Full name of the account holder" field, type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and for the "IBAN" field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. Continue and in the "Review transfer details" section (see screenshot), double check everything is correct and then for the "Reference for TURK" field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Tick the confirmation box and then "Confirm and send". This transfer will only be initiated during normal Turkey business hours and takes around 10 minutes on Wise's end. My transfer took 2 hours to land into my OlduBil account.

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

Part 2b - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Revolut (App only)

Revolut fee: ~A$1.79, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Download the Revolut app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) if you don't already have it installed.

  2. Open the app and log in or create an account (if you don't have it already).

  3. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account via a debit/credit card (instant, no fee), Apple Pay (instant, no fee), Google Pay (instant, no fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (usually instant, no fee).

  4. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, select "Australian Dollar", then "Exchange", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "Review order" then "Sell AUD for TRY". Revolut charges no fee for currency conversions.

  5. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, go to the buttom tabs of the app and click onto "Transfer", then "+ New" (top right corner), then select "Send International". Scroll down and select "Türkiye" as the destination. Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Revolut charges a ₺30.15 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). For the transer method, select "Bank Account" (this is probably default anyway). For the Reference field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Click "Continue", then on the "Who to pay" page, tap "+ New" (top right corner). Select the "Business" tab. For the IBAN field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the BIC/SWIFT field, type in the BIC code you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the "Company name", type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and ignore the email field. Press "Add the recipient" then on the following page, enter the VakıfBank address (the one from Part 1 Step 3) and review the transfer and estimated arrival, then send it off to Turkey :))

HELP POINT using VakıfBank: TBC but very similar to Aktifbank (just different bank information) see above screenshots for process

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

  • First up - thank you @I Smell Pennies for all of your hard work.

I've done everything and transferred the money via Revolut and have it in my OlduBil account/Turkish Card. (For those wondering: I transferred the money from my AU card to Revolut around 1pm today. Sent from Revolut shortly after 4pm AEST, then appeared in Oldibul 1-2 hours later) and am ready for the final step.

I've been reading through the final steps over and over (the 36 months one) and I see mentioned repeatedly to "turn off auto renew" but I can't find any screenshots to show exactly where on the screen that option is, just the link to where you can turn off auto renew.

Just really want to nail it, because it looks like it's possible to either miss it completely or accidentally cancel your xbox live subscription.

Is it really straight forward? Is the translation of the page clear enough? Any possibility of screenshots for that part of the process?

(Apologies if this is a really dumb question)

    • +1

Hey. Sorry I didn't have screenshots for that.

But it's very. Just follow the instructions!

There's several options, one will clearly state "Turn off auto-renew", and the other "Cancel subscription" two rows down.

      Here's a screenshot, if it helps: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/280217/104696/screensh…

      Thanks for your support!

      • Perfect thank you very much!

      • +1

All done, thank you again! But one last question - now that it's all converted to Ultimate, do I turn off auto renew one last time? (I'm assuming yes, but just checking)

          • +1

@xdpx: Really good points. Appreciate your continued help, thanks!

        • I did turn it off as a final step, I also did the same for a previous 36 month deal using gift cards, never had an issue and feel more comfortable that way @xdreamyst makes a good point through - will be interesting to see what happens in another 3 years.

        • Glad to hear all went well. Enjoy!

    • +5

Yes, super easy once you've done the first couple. I had 2 tabs open in chrome incognito ~ 1 tab for the item purchase in Turkish, and 1 tab for the MS Acct & Subs management which was open in English AU (to click the turn off auto renew).

The step to turn off auto renew is mention in post as this:

As soon as the 3 months have been topped up, go to Microsoft subscription Management and "turn off auto-renew". DO NOT cancel your Xbox Live Gold subscription.

      • Great idea - I might do this myself! Thank you!

      • Good thinking, I did something similar.

If you just copy down the URL for the recurring billing page (it's a static URL), and pop that into a second browser and paste it in each time you're disabling billing, it's real quick.
Especially if you have a big monitor with the browsers on the same screen (or a second monitor either).

The URL for the disable recurring billing is the one below.
        https://account.microsoft.com/services/xboxgamepassultimate/…

  • what's even good on gamepass atm, any f1 game there

    • yes

  • its the next day now, using wise to oldubil, still nothing. i have triple checked the details.
what else can i try? Revolut isnt an option for me, since i am having trouble with my ID at the moment (how convenient).

    • When did you transfer the money? My first test transaction before this deal took off on here went through within minutes, second transfer later last night said funds would only arrive in oldubil acc on 03/07/2023, you can check expected transfer date under your transaction details.

  • I'm an idiot and forgot the reference number :(

    • Revolut? What happened now? @jordan23140

      • Emailing oldubil. They’ve been quick responding. Apparently hasn’t hit their account yet.

        • Good to hear. Please keep me updated, wouldn’t want you to lose that cash!

          • @I Smell Pennies: Getting the runaround atm :(

            • @jordan23140: What are they saying. Anyway, see here

              • @I Smell Pennies: Email yesterday arvo said to wait for it to "upload." Ticket closed.

The this morning got another email saying amount couldn't be confirmed and ticket closed

Might just right it off or try recalling it through Revolut

                • @jordan23140: Did you tell them the amount?

That’s the amount that leaves Wise/Revolut after fees.

Maybe subtract 6.25% and give them that value.

Give them some sort of transfer details, like transaction number etc etc

Yeah try recalling thru Revolut too

Idk, I feel like you shouldn’t give up on your $80

                  • @I Smell Pennies: Yeah I sent the transaction receipt from revolut in the original email, and then copied and pasted the info in the email this morning in case they can't see attachments.

Thank you anyway, still planning on using your other guides and doing it MUCH more carefully.

  • +2

It works perfectly. Thank you so much. Luckily I used Revolut last night and it topped up my virtual card today. With A$70 spent on this, I've got TRY3.23 left.
I think I might have bought 13 months of PC Game Pass and 10 months of Console Game Pass. I've never done this before so it got me a bit nervous as I didn't know whether it could go wrong. But thankfully it was all converted into the ultimate!
    Again, thank you legend!

    • Haha, thinking outside the box I see. Food for thought for others who went wrong. Thanks for detailing your experience. Enjoy!

    • Just checked my email. It was actually 13 months of PC Game Pass + 11 months of Console Game Pass. Ended up to be 36 months in total anyway.

Amazing, thank you for the guide, I got 35 months Ultimate. OlduBil ate up my last month, but still very damn happy.

  • Can we cancel the wise transaction and refund it back to our Australian bank account ?

    If so , how ?

    • Steps:

      1. Find the pending transfer transaction, cancel that. Can't remember whether it warns you it may take 3 days before you confirm it or after (from memory, it is after).
      2. Wait for a minute or two, check your balance to see if the TRY balance is updated.
      3. Exchange the TRY back to AUD (you will lose money due to exchange rate and processing fee).
      4. Transfer the AUD back to your bank account (may lose some processing fee).

I did that, losing about $2.50 AUD in the process. Unsure whether the issue with slow transfer to ANZ still remains. While it took about 5 minutes for me for the whole process, there is no guarantee there could be additional delay. However, plan for the worst, it could take days.

      • I would have just left it as TURKISH LIRA in Wise, in case I needed it in the future.

And topped up another $30 or $75 to Revolut on the side.

        • +1

AKA, awaiting your new walkthrough to spend those TRY. lol. Good job by the way.

        • Exchange rate is better today so unless Turkish Lira is expected to rise in value, it doesn't seem that attractive to keep it in Wise (unless there are ways to purchase items without transferring the money out of Wise)?

  • Question. When buying 36 months of GPU, why do we need to buy so many different subs? Can we not just buy say 9x 3 months Gold and then convert it? Note: I'm not very smart.

  • why can't I just buy 2x Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (14 Months)? It has the best value.

  • +2

Thanks for sharing it worked great. Only issue I faced was not having enough TRY left for the last step. 70 Aud was slightly under after fees so advisable to make it 80 Aud to be sure and complete in one bank transfer.

    • +2

      $75 is enough.

  • If anyone else is an idiot like me and meant to follow Step 4 but accidentally followed Step 3 instead….

I'm still able to purchase 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate at a time, at the cost of 44.99 TL each.
That's only $2.60 AUD which is still really good - just a lot of clicking and constantly cancelling recurring billing each time.

    • Sorry :(

      • +2

        Hahaha, nah completely my fault.

        Lesson:
Don't start the process, get up and to guide the wife's car into the garage so she doesn't destroy your own car, then sit back down and expect to pick up where you left off!

I got sorted up until March 2026 for about $70'ish, so I'm happy as.

Had few dollars left over to cancel my $15.99 Spotify Prem Duo account and sign up for the Turkish one as well, while I was at it! :)

        • Haha nice one!! All good, we all make mistakes, but luckily thisd was a cheap one :))

Thanks very much for your detailed guide!

For some reason, my MS account doesn't display "turn off auto-renew" as your screenshot (in a later comment) showed, but rather reads "Turn off recurring billing". Same thing obviously, but it's interesting that MS uses different wording depending on some account variable.

One question - after turning off auto-renew (recurring billing) 30+ times, I'm wondering why the last step doesn't include this. Is there any particular reason that this was omitted? (of course, I doubt this card will exist or have anything on it three years from now).

FWIW, I transferred $75 AUD and had 128 Lira remaining in Aldubil after all was done (or just under $7.50).

    • +1

I got your wording of "turn off recurring billing too".

He probably just forgot to include the cancel option. No reason to not just turn off recurring billing for it now rather than wait 3 years.

      • Yeah I just forgot, I’ll add it in when I get to my desk tonight. Not that it matters too much, unless you forgot you had a 3 year sub.

    • No worries, glad it worked smoothly. Enjoy!

Just a tip for anyone before they embark on the purchasing steps. Make life easier for yourself and make a basic spreadsheet of the list of items you need to purchase as well as the quantities then mark them off or put a counter of how many you've done.

Then get into a system of marking them as done only when you've purchased one item and then turned off recurring billing.

    • Yep this is exactly what I did after nearly losing count with the initial four 3 month subs haha

      • Could've just looked at the expanded order history. Tells you how many times you purchased something. I looked at it with almost every purchase to make sure I don't mess it up!

  • Does Oldubil work with transfers from PayPal?

  • +1

Thanks ISP you're a real one, cancelled my sub that would've expired in August and renewed till 2026!

  • +2

I did a stupid and cancelled Game Pass Ultimate since I thought I was done, however stupid me didn't realise it would refund it.

While that wouldn't be too much of a problem if I could just buy it back, it caused all the Xbox Live Gold to be cancelled too, but with no refund.

So if I convert again, I only get two years worth. So a loss of about $13.

Anyway, not a big deal in the scheme of things, but as the OP says many times, do not press the cancel button!

    • Sorry that happened to you :(

      • So it actually got worse :(

All the subscriptions were cancelled, but only the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was refunded haha

Have you had any luck with Microsoft Support? Any idea the best method to contact them?

EDIT: I managed to contact Microsoft through Microsoft Store support, and they issued a refund on all the subscriptions.

Any idea if Oldubil supports refunds to the card?

Hopefully I'll be able to do it all again. Either way, the whole thing was my fault and completely stupid lol

  • +3

    Thanks OP,

    1) I used Revolut, did the initial transfer out of business hours so funds hit my Oldubil (Used Aktifbank as recommended) account around ~5:30PM - top-ups in business hours take ~10-15mins no issue.

    2) Hit up Xbox Support via Chat (https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/contact-us - Click the Green Contact Us button > Select Subscriptions and Billing > Select I don't recognise a charge > input anything as your issue description < this gets you the online chat option, spoke to rep and asked for my existing Ultimate subscription to be cancelled immediately please - was done no questions asked (I had 2 months left on an exisiting GPU sub)

    3) Commenced the steps for 36 months as soon as I refreshed Subscription Management and saw that GPU had expired -
    - Incognito Chrome session, one tab for the store page, one tab on Subscription Management.(in English)
    - First payment with Oldubil CC required the creation of a payment profile as stated by OP, used the linked address generator, googled the needed post code for my city
    - After each payment, refreshed the subscription management page for the sub in question, disabled auto-renew, then refreshed the store page to purchase again - I did this as fast as pages could load/I could switch tabs and click - no timeouts related issues were experienced.
    - My purchases were made on my main Microsoft account, GPU is my only current sub
    - Looking closely at the account post-deal, all that has been added is an additional payment option, my region is still AU, games still update and launch correctly, both XB and Store apps function as they used to, cloud gaming has previously played titles etc.

    • Thanks for detailing your full experience!

      • +1

No worries, likewise. I really appreciate it.

    • Hi, can you confirm the following after subscribing to Turkey game pass?

      1. have access to game pass discounts
      2. have xbox live gold benefits
      3. have access to cloud gaming
      4. no problem with PC game pass

Someone mentioned he did not have access to game pass discounts and no access to cloud gaming after using the above method. Thanks in advance.

      • +1

I can only comment from the perspective of GPU on a PC and not an XBOX console, also note that the first thing I did after completing the deal was to remove the Oldubil CC from my payment methods and the testing below was completed the next day also my MS Account and Store regions are set to Australia:

        1) Discounts are applied, I did checkout completely just to make sure (refunds also work no issues)
        2) Cannot confirm as do not have a Console
        3) Works without issue, tested with FH4
        4) No issues as this the only thing I use it for

I suspect the previous poster may have been attempting purchases etc on a console and not through the Windows app

      • +1

        Just tested.

        PC -
Cloud streaming still works on the PC Xbox app, and Gold discounts are present on the PC Microsoft Store App.
But on a PC web browser I can't get the discounts from Microsoft.com or Xbox.com. It doesn't recognise my Gold or Game Pass sub.

        Android -
I use a Samsung Galaxy S7+ tablet and a Galaxy A73 phone. I can no longer access Cloud Streaming on my android tablet or phone. And my Gold or Game Pass subs aren't recognised. So no discounts. This is via the Xbox app, GamePass app or on a browser.

        Xbox console -
        Playing regular GamePass games works.
But I can't get any Gold or Game Pass related discounts. Sub is not recognised when attempting to buy something on sale.

        • +1

This is really strange. Just test everything for my game pass account (bought from Turkey, region is Turkey, not from this deal).

          PC -
Cloud gaming works from xbox app. All discounts are shown.
From web browser, my game pass sub can be recognized. I can claim games for gold and game pass games from xbox.com/en-au without any problem.

          Andriod -
I can play cloud games on xbox game pass app.

Xbox console - region is Australia
All game pass games works fine.
I have access to all gold benefits.
The 10% discount for game pass members is applied.

I bought my sub back in March this year and I am sure my sub is converted from gold to Ultimate as I can see from the purchase history. I am not sure if Microsoft has changed something from then.

          • +1

@tianyujojo: Yes but, as you described, your Microsoft account region is Turkey.
Mine is a long standing Australian region MS account.
That is the difference in our results here. Most people will have Australian MS accounts.
I cannot migrate mine to Turkey without compromising my hotmail and onedrive accounts.

            • @Ge3ks: @Ge3ks I am also interested in cloud gaming. Have you tried to set your MS account to Turkey? Any help?

              • +1

@GoodDealDave: Nope. Too risky. I don't want to migrate my account to Turkey because it can't be undone for 3 months after. Also, Turkey doesn't offer Cloud gaming. It isn't one of the regions where it is supported.

                • @Ge3ks: Thanks. Check the comments at end. Some one use Turkey account enables cloud gaming. Someone used online support solve it.

  • After the transfer says successful on revolut, is it meant to show up in oldubil or does this take a while?

    • It takes a while depending on the time of day. I did it at midday today and it took a few hours to show up.

    • Anywhere from minutes to hours. You have to think about Turkey business hours, not Australian business hours

      4pm aest = 9am Turkey

      • Ah so oldubil still needs to process. Just worried some random guy all of a sudden is 1200lira richer

        • If you entered the mastercard number correctly, that shouldn’t happen, unless they make an error

          • @I Smell Pennies: I've checked my reference over and over and it still looks correct. Still waiting on the funds to go into oldubil though, still says $0 in the app.

  • Wouldn't purchasing 2x 14 months GPU be easier?

  • +1

All done, thanks so much ISP!

  • +1

Cheers for the deal and excellent write up mate, was able to get the full 36 months!

  • Forgot to add my virtual card on reference number what do I do? It’s been a day and I think money will OlduBil now

    • Send an email to OlduBil as per FAQ section

    • @naru6705 Any updates? See this comment. This user did the same mistake and got their money credited by OlduBil. Best of luck!

      • Thank you @I Smell Pennies thank to you all worked out fine. I emailed them and they fixed it within hours

  • +1

Thanks ISP worked great. Another awesome guide!

  • Revolut keeps cancelling the international transfer but it doesn't give an explanation as to why, then the next time I try they up their fee. Is there a cooling off period after signing up or something?
