Seems like a fair deal given Microsoft has increased their prices and the old 1-1 conversion deal has ended. :-(

3 months Xbox Live Gold Membership A$16.79. Will stack onto an existing Game Pass Ultimate membership as 50 days of GPU.
Activates in Australia.

Also this deal for 12 months of Gold for ~$49.49 is a better deal, but requires a VPN.

Turkey remains the cheapest directly via Microsoft.

But not worth the effort anymore given you can buy the 12 month directly as per your comments.

I hope everyone has jumped on board with my GPU deal before Microsoft screwed everyone over?

who is paying for just a gold sub in 2023

    • +1

You can convert it to Gamepass Ultimate, which is the main appeal to Live Gold subs

Just FYI I feel Eneba is cheaper.
I paid $60.89 just now for 4 X 3 month cards. Topped my Ultimate up by 200 days (6 months and 20 days). I believe this is the cheapest method for topping up existing Ultimate without having to mess around using VPNs. Works out to be under $10 a month. Not the best but beats retail.

    • Did you just get the global subscription?

      • Yes

        • Shit. Just missed it now as I was trying to sort out a refund through Microsoft.

    • Did you not need a VPN to redeem the gold cards? which ones did you buy.

      • Global ones. No VPN required to redeem.

        • Ah yep, just did the same thing bought 850 days worth. :) cheers for that.

  • So I currently have ultimate (about 9 days left) and if I buy and activate a gold sub code it will extend the ultimate for the extra time and not change it to a crappy gold sub after my 9 days end?

Have you accumulated sufficient Microsoft reward points to exchange for a 1 month XBox Live Gold voucher? If yes, maybe consider using that to test first.

However, based on what people have indicated so far, existing GPU subscribers currently get an inferior deal. Letting GPU expires, then re-subscribe may be considered a new subscription.

Since yesterday, Microsoft has changed quite a few things and not making it obvious to people nor giving people ample notice.

  • Just paid 6 x 3 months for Ultimate.

  • Any good games going on there say, Star Wars Jedi Survivor? If so, I grab this deal by its neck.

BTW this only for Xbox consoles and not PC?

The new conversion table for existing subscriber (likely the same rule for new subscriptions, basically $$$ based rather than number of months based):

Code type What you also get
1 month of Gold 20 days of Ultimate
3 months of Gold 50 days of Ultimate (1+ month)
6 months of Gold 81 days of Ultimate (2+ months)
12 months of Gold 4 months of Ultimate
24 months of Gold 6 months of Ultimate
1 month of Xbox Game Pass for Console 22 days of Ultimate
3 months of Xbox Game Pass for Console 68 days of Ultimate (2+ months)
6 months of Xbox Game Pass for Console 135 days of Ultimate (4+ months)
12 months of Xbox Game Pass for Console 9 months of Ultimate
24 months of Xbox Game Pass for Console 18 months of Ultimate
1 month of PC Game Pass Games 20 days of Ultimate
1 month of EA Play 10 days of Ultimate
6 months of EA Play 40 days of Ultimate
12 months of EA Play 2 months of Ultimate

I don't think new subscribers get any special. It's just the conversion ratio of "3:2" is based on "price without discount". Since you get a discount for 3 months or more, Microsoft re-calculates it based on the actual $$$ value, rather than the months. 24 months of gold to 6 months of GamePass Ultimate is @#$@$# sigh. GamePass for console seems to get a constant conversion ratio though.

Microsoft: show me the money, no discount for you.

  • When did the 1:1 deal end ? I did it about two weeks ago …

    • +2

Yesterday, 06/07/2023 00:00:00 GMT. Around 10AM Sydney/Melbourne time yesterday. The same time GamePass Ultimate price increase started.

  • Does 1:1 conversion ending, include lapsed Ultimate Game Pass subscribers ?

    • New or elapsed subscribers could be getting better deals (but 3:2 (XB Live Gold) and 4:3 (GamePass Console)) conversion ratio is still apply.

My take is (a positive spin on this) that Microsoft is quite confident in Starfield.

    • Missed that part!! Only saw the price increase.

      My sub expired next week.

Microsoft have a good product in game pass but for me I ended up using it the same as Netflix. Months would go by without even looking at it.

So with no cheap ways to get it I won't be subscribing anymore.

    • You missed this deal?

After some checking, early reports indicate new and elapsed subscription appear to get flat conversion of 3:2 for XBox Live Gold.

Any deal that involves 27 steps isn't for me.

        • So 7 steps (this one) is okay. What's the maximum number of steps you will accept? 10?

    • It's 7 bucks a month which is I think the same price or cheaper than the lowest Netflix sub, just buy the 3 month global codes for like 16 bucks and it converts to 50 days GP:U

  • I’ve recently bought a series S off marketplace. I can see I’ve missed out the GPU deal from last month. Given I can’t get that - what’s the cheapest way I can get gamepass for my console? I dont have a PC and I don’t really play online.

I’m a little confused with the live conversion thing. I’m guessing if I have Xbox live then buy game pass - it get converted 3:2?

    • Cheapest way (other than converting Microsoft Reward points) is still being determined. The deal you just missed may get an updated version from ISP once the money transfer portion is sorted out. The current issue is a number of people are still waiting for their transfers to go through fully and the intermediate bank chosen is no longer being supported / recommended by the virtual credit card provider.

Microsoft did not provide all the details on what actually got changed yesterday so it will take time for people to figure out the new pricing situation. Those changes closed quite a lot of loopholes so don't have high expectation on the new cheapest method. The price rise on GamePass Ultimate was known in advance, but the conversion ratio change was a surprise to majority of people (we were unaware of that until after it happened).

      • Any updates on this?

Im thinking of buying 3 years worth of gold and taking the 3:2 conversion

  • I just bought 2 , when redeem it seems ok, but only 1 added to my account, the other one is missing. I contact MS online chat, they said the 2nd one is in process, will take upto 24 hours to reflect. Did anyone have this situation before?

    • Check the subscriptions page and order history page

It generally doesn't take that long. I had a different issue previously, my purchase seems to have go through, but XBox simply wouldn't reflect it. XBox Support told me to do a complete shutdown and then restart. That fixed my issue, but my purchase was a game not subscription service though.
