17/7: 12m gold is now cheaper at ~A$46 from CdKeys, plus the $1 deal is back to activate Ultimate cheaper. Current conversion for new/expired ultimate users is 3:2 (i.e. 3 years Gold gives you 2 years Ultimate). You end up with 25m Ultimate with the additional month, so still not a bad deal at around $5.56/m for 25m (assuming you get the $1 ultimate deal).

6/7: As suspected MS have nixed 1:1 gold conversion together with their price changes.

    I want to grab 3 of these but my previous 3 years hack don't expire until March 24. Thinking it may be too risky to purchase and do the 3 year Gold to Ultimate trick?

      yea not recommended to hold for that long. The 3rd part codes seem to expire after some time based on others comments. Also the conversion ratio trick could be pulled, best to purchase closer to your expiry.

      I have to wait ~10 days for mine to expire but im still not comfortable holding on.

      update - i just got MS to cancel mine effective immediately. Didnt want to wait and reckon I should verify a deal ive posted here anyway :) . All good to 24/6/2026 for me now.

              @drinkin-beer: It looks like there's a fair few sellers selling 12m XLG codes around the same price $45-$50m. So they won't just all up and vanish in 2m.
              The real question is if and when ultimate 1:1 conversion is canned. Which only MS knows. They did recently get rid of the $1 for Ultimate first month. With Game Pass price hikes coming in July I didnt want to take my chances. But I only lost 10 days. Also depends on your current monthly cost too.

      what VPN ? MS may be blocking some. NordVPN worked for me.
      then go to: redeem.microsoft.com and enter code.

        Just tried using MTC bought 1 year to make sure it was ok then when buying years 2-3 they want to do identity check. I'm using virtual card from wise.com so dont know what they will say when photo doesn't have picture of card in it.

      Mine was 10 days, I got on to MS support and got them to cancel it effective immediately.
      Redeemed the codes and did the upgrade and now mine expires 24/6/2026.

      Sammy has linked another deal with similar prices so you should be OK I reckon. (if you wish to purchase on or after expiry )

      Cancel your current subscription via my subscriptions on the console I would never sit on third-party codes from these sites

      I've also done what OP suggested and directly contacted support in the past it works fine as well

      yea 3 if you want to max out the subscription. Given prices are going up from July and MS may discontinue the 1:1 conversion for gold to ultimate its would be advisable to max it out.

          yes if you have a GPU code you should be able to use that instead AFTER you have redeemed the 3Y of XLG. As long as you activate XGPU after it will convert your remaining XLG subs (3Y) to GPU subs.

    Me and my partner after doing this deal 2 years ago on Oz bargains made a horrible mistake and ended up with a turkey account, our credit was in lira.

    After the subscription ended.

    Our monthly plan in Turkey is 3.40$ a month for ultimate, it's a dummy account but we can access everything still with the mistake account, now it's the best decision no more silly hold migration crap.

    Right now Lebanese pound is cheaper 0.90 cents a month for ultimate.

    Im not putting this up to help you, I don't care what you do, but it works for us.

      ended up working in end and with free month with new laptop, make sure you check your laptop if you get that on xbox app.

      I always use my prepaid CC (has its own account in my online banking) for these shenanigan websites/tricks. I only put in the prepaid account what I need to spend, if they try to over charge or come back for more funds later then it fails on them.

    I can confirm this works, I just did this:

    Bought 3x codes as per instruction (changed to GBP, no VPN, and used ING no fee card) = $148.90

    Enabled Istanbul VPN using Windscribe and redeemed 3x Gold codes.

    Disconnected VPN, clicked the "upgrade to game pass ultimate" in https://account.microsoft.com/services = $15.95

    Total $164.85, expires 24/06/2026.

      You can still get the 12m XLG codes and stack up to 3y but the conversion rate for new/expired users is now 3:2 meaning you only end up with 2 years xbox ultimate.

      On the flip side, it's cheaper now at ~A$45 for each 12m gold, plus the $1 GPU deal is back so that's another $15 saving so might still be worth your while.

      You can compare with ISPs Turkey deal if you can set all that up might work out cheaper

        You could but once your GPU is active the remaining codes are converted in a lesser ratio believe it's 3:1 i.e. 4m ultimate for 12m gold.
        Max benefit is converting gold first time as inactive ultimate user .

      Looks like XLG will translate directly to GPC. On upgrading from Core to Ultimate existing conversion rates may (likely) will still work, or may not.

            No idea what converting GPC to Ultimate will be, but since it's only a $1 difference between GPC and XGP it should be similar 4:3 ratio?

            I just tested my XLG which expires 5/7/26, converting it to Ultimate gave new a renewal date of 14/8/25. So ~$150 worth of XLG for almost 25 months of Ultimate (~$470 worth ($18.95/month))

            And cdkeys have 12month Ultimate for $210, or $150 from other key sites

            I might just bite the bullet and convert it now and not wait.

      If you add gold now it auto converts to ultimate at a worse rate of 3:1.

      Best wait for expiry then stack 3x12m gold and convert to Ultimate (buy or redeem an Ultimate code) to get the 3:2 conversion.

          You can have multiple accounts with GPU signed in on console. MS just want your money.

          Gold is being removed from mid Sep so you should have time to wait…
