  • points given every year or just on the 1st year ?

    • +5

Never seen a card that gives points every year

      • +1

1400 annual fee is pretty steep assuming the 50 percent is applied on this deal already

        • +2

The previous deal was 50% off first year annual fee. So $350 instead of $700 for the first year.

          • @baka1: even 700 is pretty steep….

            • +1

@Trying2SaveABuck: Priority Pass Unlimited costs $469 USD per year (approx $689 AUD) on it's own.

That's without the significant benefits from Payall (worth approx $100 per month in Rewards points redemptions) and the other perks.

Oh and for a new user, that's without taking the sign on points ($1500) into account.

  • +8

No where close to the deal last year with $350 annual fee (first year) + 300,000 rewards points https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728311
Also be reminded Citi Payall no fee offer ends Oct 2023 so better setup all future Citi Payall schedules (at least for the next 12 months)

    • +1

Doubt we’ll see that again before October. This is worth copping the $700 to get PayAll set up.

      • +2

Do not get this card on the expectation that PayAll will continue well into the future (even if first set up before October).

NAB have stated in their financial statements that they plan to end the Citibank brand next year.

That might mean they are planning on shutting down all existing cards (including PayAll) and converting the products to NAB products.

        • +1

It'll be good whilst it lasts.

          • +1

@tororm: Agreed, just don't rely on PayAll continuing to exist when determining if the $700 annual fee is worth it or not. Consider it the icing on the cake in your equation.

        • I feel its more likely they would stop offering citi products to new business.

Providing a different credit product or cancelling the product entirely may not go down well regulators or customers (but thats not to say that products cant change or banks dont push boundaries, only time will tell I suppose)

          • @Doesnotcompute: It's all speculation at this point, but remember what NAB did to 86400 when it bought it. Shut it down and merged it with UBank.

            • @vetopower: Ah didnt realise nab acquired 86400. Just looked into it..

"Other than operating under NAB’s ADI licence, there will be no change to 86 400’s products and services as a result of this transfer and 86 400 will continue delivering outstanding digital experiences to customers." (Source below)

Significant changes to existing products is a massive cost and retention risk which is also why i thought this was unlikely, but to your point, just speculation..

              https://news.nab.com.au/news/transfer-of-86-400-banking-asse…

  • Be nice if they gave a reduced AF for the first year.

    • but its $800 profit still?

      • -1

with NAB having taken over Citi we don't know whether the benefits of Payall will last a year.

        • The $800 is without PayAll

  • +1

If you use PayAll right, this is the best card out there.

    • Only until October :(

      • +3

Only for as far ahead as you schedule your payments by October :)

        • -2

Any recurring Citi PayAll payments “set up prior or after the Period” will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment.

          https://www1.citibank.com.au/offers-benefits/PayAll1

I assume there will be 2% charge for any recurring payments after Oct 2023, party is over

          • +3

@cyruslol: Thats not how I read it hmm

Any payments set up prior or after to the 'Free' period will be charged the 2% free. So if your payment was set up during the period i.e. before November, it will be free.

Anyone else know better please chime in…

          • +1

@cyruslol: You only copied a part and that makes it really confusing.

For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

            The Period: 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023
If you set up Payall before or after, then it will occur a fee.
            During the Period won't

Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

          • @cyruslol: No it's charged on those set up before or after "the period"

            Full text:

      • iirc they’ve been extending the deadline for like 1 or 2 years now, might happen again

        • Probably not now that NAB has bought them

  • +1

I have this card and it’s very useful.

Min spend can be easily met using payall withdraw of 10k.

Also set Per month 20k withdraw via Payall which gives you 20k points ($90).

    • +2

      whats payall?

      • +2

It basically allows you to pay a bsb / account number using your Citibank credit card (and earn rewards points), normally Citi charges a 2% fee for this service.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/610776

I payall around 15k per month which is around $60 in rewards points. $60 * 12month = $720 per year

        • +1

@Homr any reason you do 15k instead of 20k? From what I've gathered 20k is the max you can earn points on

          • +1

@potatosalad: My credit limit is only 15k

I have the normal citi card fee free for life, not this prestige one

            • @Homr: can you make the transaction and then repay the limit?

              or

add credit ontop of your limit and make bigger payments greater than your limit?

              • @project larx: 1st one won't work. Payall points are capped to your credit limit even if you pay it back

2nd one will work, but 15k credit limit is quite large for me already on this card. I also have another 15k limit with my ANZ black card.

    • 20k points ($90)

It is worth $100 if you convert it to flybuys at 1:1 with citi prestige

      • Nice to know. How to convert into flybuys points ? It would be great if you share . I’ll try to check as well

        • Log onto citibank account, go to citi rewards, and redeem points.

    • Can anyone confirm that payall still counts towards minimum spend? I had a rep today tell me it doesn't?

      • had the same confirmation from the rep i spoke to. Gotta find 10k from somewhere now.

      • Bugger, if I knew, I wouldn't apply for this card. Damn

        • Do it anyway and see if it works.

Call centre reps are more likely to say something won't work if they don't know the answer so they are not held accountable.

          • @CodeXD: I got the card and been spending for $15k using payall but only accrued 15k points. Do you know when they will give the bonus points ? Nab usually gives within a week once the criteria reached.

            • @yht: From memory, a few days after the first statement in which you meet the requirements.

              • @CodeXD: Cheers, will wait for the first statement then

                • @yht: I hope so! Otherwise the 10k requirement is going to be annoying to hit. My first statement is on the 24th.

                  • +1

@Zacsik: @Zacsik let me know when you receive your statement, I just signed up - hoping this isn't the case!!

                • +1

@yht: Got 1st statement and bonus points from payall transactions. Yipee

                  • +1

                    @yht: Nice! That's awesome news.

                  • +1

@yht: lol, welcome to the PayAll club ;)

                    • @timhn: Yup, got mine too though Payall.

                  • @yht: Did the 275k shown as bonus points on your CC statement under "Your Reward Points Summary" or somewhere else? not seeing mine there and anywhere else; and definitely spent 20k PayAll.

EDIT: found it - not on the statement but in my app's point balance. YAYYYYY

  • +3

Nowhere near as good as last deal, but still a deal. Interest alone from payall should cover the annual fee. Then you have unlimited priority pass, 4th night accommodation free, 1 airport transfer free. Plus you are getting $100 worth of points per month if you max out the payall.
    minimum profit per year is $1200+$1000(from payall5%interest)-$700AF = $1500

    • +2

4th night free has all been dodgy rates when i have tried and not worth it. Maybe just my rotten luck. And twice they stuffed me around trying to get the airport transfer so still havent got it. Have to kill the card in 2 months so hopefully can use it by then. The priority has has been handy to get a good free meal at airport and of course some converted velocity points.

      • How did they stuff you around with the airport transfers? We're booked for an early morning transfer soon with Hughes (booked for free via Citi) and nervous if it will show up!

        • First time im not sure, seemed to get cancelled and could not give reason. Second time kept delaying to "check availability", "waiting for confirmation" only to then be denied as it fell into 24hrs despite making the request days before. It felt like the call center folk had a vested interest in not booking it. Both times were for transfer from Sydney Airport home. I have another trip next month so ill try again one last time before i cancel the card in September.

        • Don't worry. I was anxious too (also early morning) and had no problem with pickup two months ago. If you want/if you have not already done so, you can call Hughes to confirm. I booked via email.

Can confirm I was unable to use fourth night free though, got a quote for six locations (two cities) and I just went with Agoda in the end. I know Point Hacks once did an analysis and their discount was 20% off. The best I got was 12% better and they also quoted me for Twin rather than the Double I requested for one of the rooms. I think this will really vary due to the hotels you are picking/possibly even the time, just a pity there's no easy way to check/it's not consistently good.
          https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/638187982146371594/10…

      • i've had good success with 4th night free, expedia had a promotion at the time already making them the cheapest for that hotel and the 4th night free was based off that. always shop around but there are some where it works out better.

      • I thought I would use the 4th night free benefit for my upcoming trip to Europe but found much better options elsewhere.

I got a hotel quote from the Citi concierge and noticed that the 4th night cashback was calculated on the tax-exclusive cost of the booking, so it was even worse value than I thought, e.g. if 4 nights costs $1,600 ($1,454 excl. tax) you don't get $400 back, you get $364 back ($1,454 / 4)

        • Same I assumed they would rebate the entire 4th night, hotel rate + taxes. But it was only the hotel rate rebated, better than nothing I guess. 3x bookings + Airport transfer so far have more than covered the $700 annual fee.

    • Can you use PayPal to pay rent etc and that's included?

      • Payall - yes you certainly can!

  • +1

So glad Citibank prospects are looking grim these days. Product could be a loss leader for them, cheers to those who sign up.

  • +4

someone explain payall for all of us uninitiated folk?

    • It basically allows you to pay a bsb / account number using your Citibank credit card (and earn rewards points), normally Citi charges a 2% fee for this service.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/610776

I payall around 15k per month which is around $60 in rewards points. $60 * 12month = $720 per year

      • how many points do you earn per $?

      • Why not do the whole $20k?

        • My credit limit is only 15k.

          • @Homr: you can overpay 5k extra so you'll have 15k + 5k credit allowing you to do 20k.

      • So can't I guess say pay 20k into my bsb account .pay it back and .rpt 5 times..and get 100k in points

      • You can payall 20k though

  • So can you just use citi payall to like send or 'pay' $10 000 into another of your own bank accounts? To fulfill the criteria for the extra points

    • Yep.

      • Oh really ohhhhh
        Just had an orgasm

Also if I withdraw after getting the points can I get refund of the annual fee

      • Are you sure? Got a couple of downvotes?

        • You can. I'm currently doing it.

          • @CodeXD: It wouldn’t let me payall into one of my other different bank accounts. Error messsge mentioned you cannot transfer money with payall to an account under the same name.
Had to payall it into a family members account.
How did you do it into your bank account ?

            • @kdmeir: Don't name the account with your own name. I used initials like

              CXD Offset Account

  • +4

Why have all CC deals suddenly gone to shit…

    • blame Gov Lowe.

  • Tempted

  • Is it possible to sign up to this offer and Qantas's first Frequent Flyer bonus Citibank Prestige card at the same time?
    edit: nvm, 2 separate deals

  • Whats the limit for payall please ? I mean, if the card has a limit of $30,000, are we able to use up the whole amount monthly ? Sorry, just read the earlier posting.

    • Minimum $20K credit limit for the Prestige card.

A cardholder can make up to $20,000 (subject to available credit) in Citi PayAll transactions each calendar month across all Citi branded Credit Cards.

  • No condition for new customer only ? Ie. Existing customer will be eligible to apply and still get bonus points ?

    • -1

Yes, as long as you schedule your payments by October.

      • "Fees and charges apply. Credit criteria apply. New Citi Prestige credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers."

Did you apply with previous history and receive the points?

  • +1

Can you pay all the $20k to a HISA and then send it back before interest is due?

    Rinse and repeat?

Does payall count towards min spend?

    • +1

Maybe. Probably works better with a mortgage with an offset account in case the withdrawal does not meet the HISA condition (I'm thinking bonus interest).

Yes and Yes to the last 2 questions.

      • Good call - will need to look at my redraw conditions!

  • +6

PSA for those thinking of setting up payall: Do not do it into BOQ accounts. Another Ozbargainer suddenly had all their accounts closed (including citibank) because BOQ thought the funds did not belong to them.

    • Is it against Citi PayAll T&Cs to fund your own or someone else's bank account just for the purpose of earning points?
Just asking as I found it bizarre that Citi closed @DuCkBiLL's credit account after BOQ allegedly got in touch with them? WTF happened to the privacy principles here?

  • Love this card. Game changer.
