  • Damn….just spent 3.6K for a CTO MacBook Pro in AOC store….

  • Macbook Air?

  • Do I get cashback if I use credit that’s already in my account? ie if I bought giftcards and already loaded them onto my Apple balance?

    • +4

Yes, credit in your Apple balance works with this promotion, it says in the terms.

      • Oh ok, thanks a bunch

  • +5

Wow! That brings M2 MacBook Air down to $1,380.

For some reason the cost of AppleCare+ is very opaque, a third party website listed $299 for MacBook Air.

Wondering if people usually get it? Almost 1/5 the cost of the product.

    • How are you getting this price? M1 costs that

      • +2

        $1650*.9= $1485 using GCs @ 10% off, then further 7% off total EX GST… so $1485-$105 = $1380

      • He must be talking about 13” M2 in Edu store

    • For some reason the cost of AppleCare+ is very opaque

They seem overly cautious in regards to the laws around selling insurance.

It may be $249/upfront for MacBook Air - https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/applecare

  • +1

My refurbished m1 pro is coming tomorrow 😢
I couldve saved $161. Is there a way for my to get that %7 ?

    • +4

Return it and buy it again.

      • The mac was bought using gift cards. If I went to apple store will I receive the credit for the gift cards instantly so I can repurchase through cashback?

        • +3

I once returned the Airpods instore and they issued me a new new gift card on the spot

    • +3

I am in the same position, so just called apple. And rather than me cancelling they refunded the 7% difference (as a gift card) without too many questions. Not sure if I just got very lucky but it might be worth a try!

      • +1

Yeah I just got my refund. But now I heard the 3nm chips are coming soon so I am considering to wait for its release

      • What did u say to Apple specifically? Tell them there's a Cashrewards 7% promo for apple store and u would like to repurchase through that instead?

        • Just tell them that I want to return the macbook. They didn't ask me why. It was a very smooth process. I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

  • -2

    no cap, on god

  • Is this going to work with Apple on Campus?

    • I would like to know as well

    • No it doesn't. The green tick does not carry over.

  • Is it worth to get Ipad Air 5 and its accessories (keyboard folio, pencil 2nd gen) now? Or should i hold for Air 6?

    • +2

      Wait, always wait

    • Wait for the Air 7. It will be better than the Air 5 and Air 6!

  • So this won’t apply to AEU store, because that’s part of the EPP. Is that correct?

    • Correct

        • As soon as you add it to the bag the pop-up/tracking in the right-hand corner disappears. Not sure how they pulled it off with that method. I don't want to be the guinea pig to figure it out on this one!

          • @bdawg138: Mine got tracked, and I saw another comment in May that it would track. Now I just need to wait for the approval…

        • Eh pretty risky. I wouldn’t risk missing out on cash back just to get a few more dollars back

          • +1

@Dr Fruit: Hey just letting you know my cashback through AOC page is now approved :) @bdawg138 @Dr Fruit @tai gui le

            • @RTY: That's good to hear. So it tracked even when the green tick wasn't there?

              • @cheng2008: I don't have extension, I clicked the link directly

  • If I use a combination of gift cards and cash, and trade in my old iPhone SE, does cashback apply on the amount net of the trade in? Or does it not apply at all on the entire purchase because of the trade in?

    • Based on my experience, you will get Apple balance instead of a discount from your trade-in.

      • So the cashback applies on the total amount less the trade in value right? Thx

  • alright,

just in time, i was going to go get the iphone 14 pro max on the weekend

    • But it is less than 2 months to go before the next one release?
      https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#iPhone-14-Pro

      • +2

i'm going overseas before the new one releases…

        10% off gift cards
        7% cash back
        10% back from TRS,

it was a hard decision, wife wanted a new phone for the holiday…

and most definitely the new one will cost about 5% more..
and there will be a new one the following year

        • Fair enough.

        • 5% more?!

          • @mr_asstight: iphone 13, 128Gb, 6.1" display $1229
            iphone 14, 128Gb, 6.1" display $1399

            is about 13% increase

every phone generation is more expensive than the last.. 5% would be the minimum i reckon.

        • Just be weary that technically you must pay GST on goods over $900 when coming back to Australia

          • @Sim69: Can he pretend it is one of his personal devices (phone)?

            • @123nkj: Yes, but you still technically have to pay GST on your personal devices if they are purchased duty free if the cost was over $900

              • @Sim69: Oh thanks. So i can buy an ipad for like $700 > claim TRS as i go oversea > i bring it back to Aus, i don't need to repay the amount?

                • @123nkj: You do

                  • @snvl: Not if it's under the concession allowance, which is currently $900. You can only claim it if it complies with the TRS rules however.

                      • @snvl: The TRS website states “ If you bring goods back into Australia for which a GST refund via the TRS has been claimed, the goods must be declared, and if the value of those goods (combined with any other overseas/duty free purchases) exceeds the passenger concession allowance, any applicable GST and/or duty may need to be paid unless another concession (example, all personal clothing – except furs) is available.”

  • Looking to purchase iPad Pro 11" 1TB from Apple Education Store. Do all orders get sent to home address or is there an option to collect from Apple Store (in SA, so it'd be from Rundle Mall). Also, looking to combine this offer with the 15% off eGiftCards from Coles (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/762500), which if I've done the Maths correctly should end up costing $1925.81 (RRP $2449) after cashback and using eGiftCards. Happy for anyone to help run through my calculations :-)

    • +1

You can have either get it delivered or picked up.

  • +1

The list of exclusions is pretty short. Surprised they didn’t exclude MBA 15”

  • +1

what is the best way to stack current discounts? I am trying to buy an apple watch ultra

      1. Sign up for a high rewards credit card - check rwrds.com.au
      2. Use said credit card to buy Apple gift cards from Coles/Woolies, or gift cards that can be spent at JB Hi-Fi and use those to buy Apple gift cards.
      3. Redeem to your Apple account.
      4. Use cash back link to buy and use your account credit to pay.

If you like to live dangerously:
1a. Use credit card to buy discounted VISA gift cards (occasionally discounted at Coles), then immediately buy discounted Apple gift cards (this only works when the stars align… don’t hang onto the VISA cards as they can be easily hacked).

      • Im thinking

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787427
        + cashrewards
        + gst refund at airport

        Is there any other addons?

        • If you’re doing it today then sure.

If you’re planning ahead, don’t use a credit card to buy gift cards online as the spend won’t count toward the minimum spend to get the points.

Check all the rules and caveats with the tourist refund scheme. Must be within 60 days of purchase, carry on only, and technically you can only bring it back to australia if it’s within the duty free threshold ($900). Otherwise border force can make you pay duty on it (I’ve never had this happen though)

      • Just a question, can you redeem the giftcard to an account, and log in to that account using cash rewards to buy apple products?

  • Tempted on iPad mini

  • No discounted pricing on iPhones at education store?

    • +1

      Never

  • If upgrading for a better camera

Would you get this and 10% off gift cards or wait until 15?

    • +1

Wait until 15. The expectation is USB-C will replace lightning in 15 (due to EU regulation). Also, the 3nm CPU is likely to bring decent amount of improvement.

You won't get cashback for 15 for quite some time I reckon. Apple normally put their latest models on cashback exclusion list for some time.

      • The endless journey. I waited for 14 then had car issues and couldn’t get one until now. Now waiting for 15. The camera does look to be much better.

  • Tempted to get a Mac Mini now…

    • Me too, brother.. me too

      • me three, brothers.. me three

  • m3 possibly in October if you want to wait.

    likely only 13 inch tho

  • Planning to get a M2 Pro, how do you stack this with the 10% Giftcard?

    • Apparently you can't because the gift card website is a shit show and won't let you checkout.

      • Saw the latest comment that some people price beat gift cards in officework, will that work?

        • +1

I was able to get 5 x $200 with the price beat for $855. The $500 gift cards didn't work on their tills to price match for unknown reason. The staff was happy to sell me what ever.

          • @World traveler: did you manage to use the gift card with cash reward? Thanks for sharing, will try the price match now :)

  • I am stuck at the check out page at "Review Your Order" at Education Store. It couldn't proceed. Online chat operator said he could send me the item to my bag but I would have to verify my student status after placing the order. Anyone facing the same issue?

    • +1

      I had the same issue.
I logged in account and completed billing info, then I was able to submit order.
Fully paid by gift card balance.

      • Legend! It works! You are more helpful than the operator. Thanks!

  • +2

Awwwwww not on the Mac Studio. I don't have enough tissues to blot my teary eyes. 😭

    • 😭😭😭😭

      😢

Now I have a liquid damaged keyboard!

  • Can I use gift cards to for a macbook that I want to buy using salary sacrifice? I have emailed the question to my employer, but they are yet to respond.

    • Yes.
You can buy gift cards using your salary sacrifice card.

      • I don't have a salary sacrifice card. I am supposed to pay for the laptop upfront and submit receipt to my employer for reimbursement. I wonder if the receipt says that it was paid with gift cards? and if it does, would that be considered valid for salary sacrifice.

    • yes. you get a regular apple invoice (for the full amount, not the gift card amount), which you can then claim

  • Seems I cannot trade in my iPhone for Mac?

    • Yeah you can only trade in if the device is in the same category. Mac for Mac, iPhone for iPhone etc. Probably the same for iPads too.

  • +1

Thanks stacked with 10% off gift cards and Education store.

  • Anybody have issues with tracking? Bought an iPhone SE through the Cashrewards app but still hasn’t been tracked yet..

    • +1

Has your order shipped yet? Tracking isn't instant like other stores because:

Tracking takes 2-7 days after you receive confirmation from Apple that the product has been shipped

      Hope it works out ;)
