Damn, they still make new 580's and 4100's?

    • +8

the RX580 i would expect to be one of those chinese ones with recycled Cores put onto new PCB's

  • +9

This 5600/6700xt is a much better pairing than previous builds we see at this price since far more than most of them have the pathetic 5500.

    Aint too shabby a deal.

    • 5500s not that bad at its normal price of like 130

      • +1

would be good with that pricetag except it struggles to beat a 3600 in games.

5600g gets a pass because of its nature as a apu, this is supposed to be a budget gaming cpu but is extremely lackluster compared to a 5600.

    • Antec DP301m Case: 2 fans & restricted mesh-front panel is most likely to cause heat issue, especially 30° room temp during hot Summer days.
      See detailed-comments posted here-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/788989
Bad airflows on standard option…poor design ?

The win of a slightly-stronger CPU/GPU: does it make up for the losses from low-tier & unknown Mobo-A520, ram, SSD & generic-PSU (vs 80+ bronze) ?

  • +1

any value proposition aside, the RX580 deal seems to have a typo either in the name or the specs - shows rx 570 instead

    edit: nvm got fixed

    • +1

The 2048SP model is basically an RX 570 anyway. back from the era when AMD were desperate to join Nvidia in the quest to mislead customers by giving different products the same name (a la GTX 1060 3gb vs 6gb, GT 1030 GDDR5 vs DDR4, and RTX 3060 12gb vs 8gb…)

The upgrade pricing is a joke

    • +29

Yes, it's almost like they've put together a great deal on some rock-bottom pricing for mid-range components with the hope of getting some extra margin on upgrades.

      The cunning dogs…

    • -6

By the time you upgrade the crap parts the deal is gone!

  • +3

Any good deals going for a RTX 4080 Build? I've been out of PC's for ages so have no idea, also want something that has headroom for a graphics card upgrade down the track. Any advice appreciated

    • +4

Hey @luketechfast plus one for a 4080 build please

  • +5

Great to see Luke is still at it haha!
Bought my pc from Techfast in September 2019, R7 2700 RTX2080, still going strong! Was my saviour in lockdown.
Upgraded the RAM for personal preference but nothing swapped other than that.

    • @billbob123454: Mobo used by Techfast: brand & model# ?
Have you noted the max. VRM temp. while gaming @ Ultra with high room temp. during hot summer days ?
      Feel free to share, thanks.

  • Currently running
    r5 3600
    rx 6600xt
    B450

Is the first package worth upgrading to?

    • +14

      No

    • +3

Depends how much you can sell your PC for… But probably not worth the hassle really

    • Wouldn't bother. If you're not running vram demanding games, you probably would get 10-20 extra fps with this.

    • +1

just upgrade your current PC yourself,

you have a B450 MB, bios update will let you use any 5000 series CPU,

    • +2

Only thing you need to change is the gpu. 3600 can drive up to 6800xt at 1440p in AAA games.

      • @Wonderfool: if you own 6800XT system: pls share your 'frame-drop or stuttering' experience, if any.
A detailed response is appreciated as gamers can give weight to your comments.
If I believe everything I read, would I ask this questions ?
FYI, I am helping a friend to select a gaming-PC & he is considering 6800XT or thereabout & is open to AMD.
        Thanks SO much.

        • I don't quite understand what you want to know in these cases.

Are you asking if the 3600 will somehow get framedrops just because it's suddenly within a 6800xt system?
Or are you asking if the 3600 will hold the 6800xt back?
Or are you asking if the 3600 is sufficient for modern games?

Cpus are cpus, if it's meeting game requirements, it met requirement.

Or, am I reading everything completely wrong, and you're asking if the 6800xt is good? If so, benchmark by far more reputable independent reviewers exist, exhaustive amounts for the specific game you are looking to play.

Either way, you don't have to believe me, you can do your own research if you're as sceptical as you say you are.

          • @Wonderfool: Apology for the confusion.

I thought you may own a 6800XT system & hope that you share your experience, especially 'frame-drop or stuttering', if any.

            Thanks

            • +1

@ab c: I own 6800 non xt, never experience any frame drop particularly notable at 1440p.

  • 5600 and 6700xt Is it good for online streaming ? Like youtube streaming,

    • +30

You're basically asking if a brand new Toyota Corolla is good enough to take you to the local shopping centre

        • Who hurt you mate?

I had a techfast system before, faulty cpu but thats not their fault and managed to claim warranty.

What they offer is well worth the price.

          • @OneDollarDucky: Ditto. Have 2 techfast builds; one for 4-5 years, still works fine. Psu blew up a year or two in, they sent me a new one.

Also had a bpc tech build. They all seem about the same; if I had to buy again. I’d go with techfast

            • @Danstar: @Danstar: regarding 'Psu blew up': feel free to share brand & model #, thanks

              • @ab c: It was a no namer cheapie. It didn't blow up. The wiring that lead to the video card melted…Luckily no damage to any components

          • +1

@OneDollarDucky: He has a hate boner for TechFast

  • +2

For the 5600/6700xt don't forget to at least upgrade to the bronze power supply. Don't spend $900 for an allied PSU.

For the cheaper one I can almost understand if on a bare bones budget (although recent used deal with a GTX 1080 around $500 is probably better at that budget)

    • +4

If you are upgrading the PSU and MOBO - anything really, just go this deal and upgrade the CPU:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/789412

Its just not worth it to upgrade but the biggest limiting factor is having to replace the NVMe because 500gb is super small these days and the A520 only has one slot. At least its not a huge price gouge for the b550 this time. $59.

      • +2

Could probably chuck some sata ssds in there if needed since nvme isn't much faster if you just use this as a gaming machine.

  • I would think the minimum upgrade you want for this package is the motherboard to a B550

  • +2

Considering the upgrades costs, the BPC deal is a much better deal

  • any thoughts on mini pcs, like the Beelink GTR7 or the Minisforum UM790 Pro ? wonder how far on performance they will be on a rig like this one 5600/6700xt

    • If you need to ask that question, and you want to play games, don't get a mini pc.

      • i need it for 3d animation, so i always see it has gpu performance graphics, but i want the small sizes.

        • +4

          Again, don't get mini pc.

  • How much are the 6700xt currently?

    • ~480 so you're paying 400 for the rest.

  • AMD Ryzen 3 4100 RX 580 2048SP

    Is this any good?

    • +3

Rx 580 was a mid range gpu from 6 years ago, about 1/3rd the speed of the 6700xt. Not that great of a value proposition but if you wanted the bare minimum to play ps4 era games on pc at 1080p/60fps with mix of med/high settings it'll work fine.

      • Think of it more of a 570 than a true 580.

        • Still going to be a similar ballpark for perf though more like mid settings only for ps4 gsmes.

Problem with these super cheap builds (prebuilt or not) is that the other components take up a bigger chunk of the price which bottoms out the perf/$. When a mobo+case+ram+psu+ssd take up around 250 minimum there's little left for the important parts (cpu+gpu).

    • +1

Meh, Luke sold similar level pc back in 2018 for similar price.

Issue is that the entry level pc hasn't had a better value refresh since then, so this is still the cost for entry level pc.

  • AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP 8GB

What brand are we talking here? Soyo, Elsa?

    • +1

      Elsa?

I believe it’s Olaf this time

  • @luketechfast
Is there an OzB rule preventing these deals being posted separately?
Be much clearer reading posts re one build, rather than both.

  • @luketechfast

Does the motherboard (either A520 or B550) on the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 RX 6700XT build have clearance to fit an additional PCIE device such as a sound card or WIFI Card with the Graphics card in place?

    Thanks!

    • no…'Does not feature on-board WiFi. A second PCIE device (e.g. network card, installed post-purchase) will not fit with RTX 3070 graphics cards and above.'

  • +1

Hey Luke, finally looking to pull the trigger on a system and will likely go through you guys. Are there any 4080 or 4090 builds on the horizon?

    • +2

Yep give us a higher end 4090 build

  • RX 580? how can u find any new RX 580 card these days?

  • If I'm looking to buy something that can game but with a priority of being quiet and cool. Would this be a good option? I see everyone mentioning $500 video cards but don't actually think I need that much power. PC is mainly used for live streaming via Restream and a USB-C Sony ZVE-10.

  • @luketechfast

I'm trying to buy the deal from the site but it says that the "MSI MAG Forge 100R [ATX] Case" case is out of stock, shouldn't this deal come with the Antec NX200M Case? can you help?

  • Total newbie here do you know how much FPS I could expect with Valorant with this one? Thanks

      • +1

        That’s empirical…

My mate purchased a new car last year but it had a recall for an air cushion issue and got scratched when he left it parked on the road. Should have bought a bike…
