      • but its $7 :(

        • Nope..same half price. I just got it. May be check again.

Thought I was the only one!

Tried this yesterday after they changed the oil. As a chip connoisseur, it's less airy/more dense and also the flavour is not the same (bland).

Really disappointed as it's one of my favourite go to.

    • I hope I will not be disappointed.
Wonder should I cancel my order ?

    • +2

Damn did the taste change so much? Haven't bought these in so long since the RRP went to up $6-7 each

      • +2

I recently tried the Aldi Blackstone Deli style Honey Soy Chicken and quite liked it, regular price as far as I can tell is sub $3, don't even need a sale.

        • I prefer the Aldi Honey Soy Chicken as well. Red Rock taste has changed, not worth it anymore.

        • How does that compare to the aldi sweet chilli one? Last time I had it, it definitely wasn't as good as red rock. Harder crunch and not great after taste

        • The ALDI version doesn't make you feel sick if you accidentally eat a whole packet like Red Rock does.

    • What’s your favorite then?

      • Sweet chilli and sour cream and then honey soy. That's my s tier for chippies!

    • When did they change the oil?
I noticed a difference in oiliness the last time I tried it but couldn't pick why

"Due to widespread disruption to the supply of sunflower oil, we will be adjusting the oil we use to cook some of our snacks. We will be moving to Australian-grown Canola oil with antioxidants for our Red Rock Deli potato chips, Smith’s Double Crunch potato chips, Sunbites Grain Waves and Crackers, and Australian made Toobs. This will not impact the high quality or great taste our consumers love. For a limited time, some of our snack’s packaging may list sunflower oil on the label when canola oil with antioxidants has been used."

"We changed to a cheaper oil for money, blaming a widespread disruption, and will never change back when this disruption ends"

          • @KiKH: Yes

          • @KiKH: well we’ll if it isn’t a critical thinker. that’s a superpower these days

          • @KiKH: Sunflower oil was ridiculously expensive at a point due to what happened between Ukraine and Russia but price have since gone back to normal.

        • +1

          Thanks!

Damn no wonder - always found canola oil to feel extra greasy and my stomach also agreed…

Such a shame these chips are so expensive already and they gotta gouge a bit more profit out of us.

    • The Sea Salt variation ingredients used to be just Oil, Potato and Salt. Now they have many other preservatives, it's not the same product anymore.

    • Kettle is better?

    • How do you become a chip connoiseur - like what do you appreciate and watch out for etc. What's your favourite chips atm?

Thanks OP I like the Honey Soy Chicken Chips :)

  • thanks!

  • Aldi chips any better?

    • +1

I can’t taste the difference when I buy honey soy from Aldi

      • Same. If you taste them side by side you can tell there is a slight difference but nothing major

      • How much is the Aldi alternative?

If only their website displays prices clearly on regular items…

    • +1

It's been a while since I've had Aldi's but I remember them being slightly drier.

      • We wouldnt want dry chips now would we.

      • Yeah can't remember too clearly but I think they were more crunchy/crispy and the flavour was good but not as good as red rock.
Definitely a good alternative when red rock is not on sale

Honey Soy OOS? Wont add to cart

    • Yeh
      EDIT
      back in stock?

I would feel guilty making the amazon delivery guy get out of his car to hand me this

    • Buy 2 packets and give him one

    • +1

For me it's the carbon footprint. I can't really justify sending a few packs of chips in the mail or via a courier, especially when I could just pick them up on a weekly grocery shop for the same price (yes, the carbon footprint is still there, but it's much smaller when they're getting sent in bulk and incorporated into a grocery trip that would happen anyway). This pretty much goes for any Amazon grocery item that doesn't have a significant discount or that I'm not buying in bulk. Imagine splitting up your grocery trolley and individually couriering each item across the city/country - utter madness.

I know that Amazon is losing money on delivering for free a $3 item, that's enough for me to buy it.

        • More like some poor schmuck is being overworked and underpaid to get it to you on an impossible deadline.

          • -1

@dontpanic: what’s your point? we all get exploited. life is ugly.

            • +1

@mr_asstight: My point is that it's a horrible waste of resources and terrible for the environment and if you think this is somehow sticking it to Amazon, it's not. They can afford to match prices and loss lead because they underpay and exploit their workers. You're not going to bring down the capitalist system by ordering a bag of chips off Amazon.

          • -1

@dontpanic: An Amazon driver is paid $3 per delivery, usually $130 for 45 deliveries in less than 3 hours. I've done it.

Amazon is really losing money on this.

Thank got 18 packs, 6bags for each flavour.

      What about the fish?

  • Hmm 165g? Are these mini pack, aren't these supposed to be 200g? 🤔

    • +1

      Shrinkflation, my friend….

They went from 250g to 200g then 200g to 180g and now they're sitting at 165g. Give it time and only the mini-packs will be available at $2 a pop.

  • Chips ordered to your door. Next day delivery.

    $2.83 (subscribe and save).

What a time to be fat (and alive). I’m lovin’ it.

  • Inflation is real was $2.50 for a long long time

  • These are such shitty chips, overwhelming taste of nasty cheap canola oil.

    • Really nasty. But OzBargainers only care about price — not quality

      • +2

        Which brand do you recommend?

        • Any that uses 100% cold-pressed oil from the finest Bulgarian sunflower fields

  • $2.99 at spudshed

    • Forgot to mention, $4.49 290g at spudshed

  • Agreed these used to be my go to chips but the flavour has changed.

Nevertheless, I only buy these in big packs from Costco.. around $12 but drops the price per 100G to about 63c.. much cheaper than Amazon @ ($1.91 /100 g)

    • Thanks for the Costco tip, I've purchased the big packs there, but I've never seen Red Rock Deli Honey Soy Chicken 3 x 640g in stock.
Created a stock notification reminder so hope that works.

When did the flavour change? Is there a better honey soy chicken chip without breaking the bank? Currently prefer these to Kettle & Aldi.

      • Sorry for the late reply. Yeah Costco Cross Roads (NSW) always has them, Red Rock Deli large packs.

I get through one of those packs every month or so, I noticed they changed flavour when I ate from the last pack I had (not current pack), ate the same amount I normally eat watching a netflix.. not that much .. and caused my stomach problems the next day..

So I would say a couple of months ago they changed flavour.

I haven't tasted a better Honey Soy chip though.
